Some vital political news and conservative comment today

Update

Due to a time slam, I still have 50 unread emails, but there's a lot of vital news today. Between my 35-hour-a-week health regimen, a meeting of our condo association (I'm secretary and had to do the minutes afterwards), a meeting of the VA Hospital's Veterans Advisory Board, to which I have been appointed, the blog/email flood, catching up the family finances, company and some personal stuff, time went.

General News and Comment

When you go to vote, reach for your wallet. When they hastily say, "We don't need an ID," reply, "Oh, this isn't for you--I wrote down the name I'm using today and I think I put it in my wallet." ~Bob

Worth Reading and Sharing: Local or National Elections? By Thomas Sowell
Excerpt: Speaker of the House Tip O'Neill once said, “All politics is local.” That may have been true in Tip O'Neill’s day, but some elections are decisively on national issues – and the Congressional elections this year are overwhelmingly national, just as the elections of 1860 were dominated by one national issue, namely slavery. In 1860, some abolitionists split the anti-slavery vote by running their own candidate – who had no chance of winning – instead of supporting Abraham Lincoln, who was not pure enough for some abolitionists. Lincoln got just 40 percent of the vote, though that turned out to be enough to win in a crowded field.

Obama's Plan To Continue His 'Transformation.' BHO is fundraising to assure approval of lifetime judicial appointments. Thomas Sowell
Excerpt: With all the cross-currents of political controversies raging today, what is the overriding national issue that makes this year’s congressional elections so crucial? That issue is whether, despite all the lawless edicts of President Obama, threatening one-man rule, we can still salvage enough of the Constitution to remain a free, democratic nation. Barack Obama will be on his way out in two years, but if he can appoint enough federal judges who share his contempt for the Constitution’s limits on federal government power in general, and presidential powers in particular, then the United States of America can continue on the path to becoming another banana republic, even after Obama has left the White House.

Interesting: From ISIS to Unemployment: What Do Americans Know?
Excerpt: The latest Pew Research Center News IQ quiz measures the public’s awareness of key facts in the news: from questions about conflicts around the world to the current minimum wage and the chair of the Federal Reserve. (Before reading this report, take the quiz yourself by clicking here.) (I was 12 for 12. The blog keeps e up to date as well. ~Bob)

Hillary Clinton: Putin Must Be Kept Contained
Excerpt: Asked how she perceived the Russian leader, Mrs. Clinton said: “Well, I see a very cold-blooded, calculating former KGB agent who is determined to not only enrich himself and his closest colleagues, but also to try to revive Russia’s influence around its border.” The line echoes one used by Sen. John McCain (R., Ariz.) who while running for president in the 2008 election said he looked into Mr. Putin’s eyes and saw “three letters: A K, a G, and a B.” Should Mrs. Clinton run for president in 2016, opponents are likely to call attention to the moment in 2009 when Mrs. Clinton and her Russian counterpart pushed a mock “reset” button to symbolize a new era of good will.

Here Comes the Marines, Ooh Baby. By Andy Weddington
Excerpt: Though a stupid idea clearly it's a done deal - while steadily being cleverly implemented under the ruse of gender-norming strenuous physical duties; carefully controlled "field" (lab) conditions; selective and skewed measuring methods; selective data gathering; creative "analysis"; and downright false reporting.

The Information CBS Reporter Says the White House Won’t Release Because It ‘Might Be Embarrassing and Would Draw Lots of Criticism’
Excerpt: CBS News White House correspondent Mark Knoller criticized the White House late last week for refusing to release documents revealing how much President Barack Obama’s fundraising trips cost the taxpayer.

In Attempt To Disprove Story Showing He Fabricated Military Record, Gary Peters Gives Documents To Daily Beast Proving He Lied
Excerpt: Michigan Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Rep. Gary Peters (D-MI) accidentally proved to the Daily Beast he lied on his campaign website and on the campaign trail about his military record as part of an effort to disprove a Breitbart News investigation—and the Daily Beast’s Tim Mak fell hook, line and sinker for the Peters’ campaign’s spin despite being provided with evidence by Peters that Peters lied.

It’s All about the Party. A vote for just about any Democrat is a vote for leftism. By Dennis Prager
Excerpt: There is a noble-sounding attitude that many Americans hold regarding whom they vote for. “I vote for the candidate,” they say. It sure sounds good. Voting for the best candidate, rather than the party, sounds as American as apple pie. But as the Democratic party has become a doctrinaire left-wing party, this sentiment is no longer noble. It is actually foolish and dangerous. There was a time when there were terrific Democrats whom an independent and even a Republican could vote for. (I have voted for Democrats, but I now vote straight Republican, because the Republicans are ruining the country--but at a slower rate than the Democrats. ~Bob)

Excerpt: Too bad the study is remarkably shoddy — slicing the evidence to distort the results. In fact, mass public shootings have only risen ever so slightly over the last four decades. While the FBI study discusses “mass shootings or killings,” its graphs were filled with cases that had nothing to do with mass killings. Of the 160 cases it counted, 32 involved a gun being fired without anyone being killed. Another 35 cases involved a single murder.

The Left Wing Entitlement Society: New 'Mom' Makes a Mockery of Maternity Leave
Excerpt: Tanya Oliva is on maternity leave .... for her puppy. No, this is not a story out of a supermarket tabloid. Oliva did not give birth to a canine. She has, however, convinced her bosses to let her take time off to spend with her new "four-legged child" (her words, not ours). As Oliva told a Canadian TV station, "I believe in making sure every man, woman, child, animal has the best chance in life, and by taking maternity leave for my puppy, he is going to be just a great dog." (The demands will never end, only grow. Until the collapse, when she will have to eat the dog. ~Bob)

Houston City Attorneys Subpoena Sermons From Pastors Opposed To Rights Law
Excerpt: City attorneys issued subpoenas last month during the case's discovery phase, seeking, among other communications, "all speeches, presentations, or sermons related to HERO, the Petition, Mayor Annise Parker, homosexuality, or gender identity prepared by, delivered by, revised by, or approved by you or in your possession." (Again, the hypocrisy of those who constantly scream about separation of church and state rears its ugly head. (Since Mayor Parker is gay, if this is allowed to go forward, I predict charges of hate speech against any pastor who has spoken against homosexuality. Which is in my opinion the REAL reason behind the subpoenas. --MasterGuns. A chilling effect of religion and speech. ~Bob. Great idea! Let's do it for all the Mosques in the US, too. --Barb.)

Key Democratic groups giving up on Senate race in Kentucky. By Paul Kane and Sean Sullivan
Excerpt: Key Democratic groups said Tuesday that they were abandoning the airwaves in the Senate battle in Kentucky, increasing the chances that Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R) will hold on to his seat in November.

VA contracting official Susan Taylor resigns amid agency’s attempt to fire her. By Josh Hicks
Excerpt: A top Department of Veterans Affairs contracting officer who allegedly steered work to a Virginia firm resigned Tuesday, eight days after the agency announced that it had begun the process of firing her. Susan Taylor, the Veteran Health Administration’s No. 2 contracting official, said in an e-mail to employees that she decided to “resign and retire,” effective Oct. 14. She has worked with the federal government for 29 years, spending four of them with the VA.

Account of Clinton Aide’s Benghazi Document Sifting Familiar to Career Public Servant. By Sharyl Attkisson
Excerpt: To Sonya Gilliam, a recent account of improper sorting of Benghazi-related documents at the State Department brought back vivid memories of her own encounters with high-level government officials who withheld, deleted or destroyed public records. And one name stood out for its familiarity: Cheryl Mills.

Democrat Lawmaker In Gunfight With Teens
Excerpt: Four teenagers have been charged with attempted homicide, robbery, assault and other counts after they allegedly tried to rob two state representatives only blocks from the Pennsylvania state capitol and ended up exchanging gunshots on a public street. State Rep. Marty Flynn, D-Scranton, formerly a prison guard for the Lackawanna County Prison, was walking along the street with Rep. Ryan Bizzarro, D-Erie, late Tuesday after a day of legislative work then dinner out, according to PennLive.com. ... The suspect, who was described by Welby as “nervous,” then fired a shot, “and Marty pulled his weapon and fired two shots,” Welby told PennLive. (Good for him. Probably be expelled from the party for defending himself--very non-PC. ~Bob)

Police Chief Accuses Secret Service Of Misconduct
Excerpt: In the Nashville case, a Secret Service agent made a frantic call for backup to Nashville police after he and another agent went to the home of a Nashville man, investigating threatening comments on Facebook about the President. The man who posted them had refused to let the agents into his house. ... "The resident refused to come outside and shouted back, 'Show me your warrant,'" Anderson wrote. So "one of the agents then asked a [police] sergeant to 'wave a piece of paper' in an apparent effort to dupe the resident into thinking that they indeed had a warrant."

Numerous publications close to the White House have reported that Labor Secretary Tom Perez has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Attorney General Eric Holder. That Perez has a documented and repeating history of dishonesty, racialism, and radicalism shows that this administration feels unrestrained by conventional political wisdom. That the White House is dropping his name before an election should demonstrate to every Republican that Obama is fundamentally transforming politics in corrosive ways that the GOP seems ill-equipped to contain....

Polar vortex will likely make a return this winter, says Accuweather
Excerpt: “Cold air will surge into the Northeast in late November, but the brunt of the season will hold off until January and February,” they write. “The polar vortex, the culprit responsible for several days of below-zero temperatures last year, will slip down into the region from time to time, delivering blasts of arctic air.”

Worth Reading: Officially Killing Americans. By Walter E. Williams
Excerpt: The Food and Drug Administration can make two types of errors. It can approve a drug that has dangerous unanticipated side effects, or it can reject or delay approval of a drug that is safe and effective. Let’s look at these errors, because to err on the side of under- or over-caution is costly. It’s in an FDA official’s self-interest to err on the side of over-caution. ... The story is very different when the FDA incorrectly delays or denies drug approval – errs on the side of over-caution.

Inequality: 8% Of CNN Workforce Cut While Anchors Reap Millions. By John Nolte
Excerpt: According to various news reports, CNN chief Jeff Zucker is worth; CNN anchor Don Lemon is worth $3 million; "New Day" co-host Chris Cuomo makes $2.5 million per year, as does primetime anchor Erin Burnett. Anderson cooper rakes in a cool. At the leftwing cable news network, the rich get richer as 300 positions -- a full 8% of CNN's workforce is cut.

About That CEO/Employee Pay Gap
Excerpt: The AFL-CIO calculated a pay gap based on a very small sample -- 350 CEOs from the S&P 500. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were 248,760 chief executives in the U.S. in 2013. The BLS reports that the average annual salary for these chief executives is $178,400, which we can compare to the $35,239-per-year salary the AFL-CIO uses for the average American worker. That shrinks the executive pay gap from 331-to-1 down to a far less newsworthy number of roughly five-to-one.

Important: Marriages Down, Unwed Births Up
Excerpt: While fewer Americans are marrying today, Americans are continuing to give birth, regardless of marital status: In 1960, 72 percent of American adults were married. In 2010, that figure had dropped to 51 percent. Many Americans are marrying later in life. Single parent families have grown dramatically. While just 7 percent of American families with children were single parent families in 1950, 32 percent of families with children were single parent families in 2013. Forty percent of all births today are to single mothers. More than half of all births to women under 30 are to single mothers. (Single parent homes are strongly correlated with poverty, drug abuse and other social pathology. This fruit of the 1960s is hastening the collapse of the republic. ~Bob)

What Hayek Teaches Us about Unintended Consequences
Excerpt: Boudreaux and Zywicki call Hayek's most significant contribution to the economic field the notion that society was more complex than men could realize. He wrote, "The curious task of economics is to demonstrate to men how little they really know about what they imagine they can design." Yet today, federal lawmakers seem intent on grand designs, which have brought a series of unintended consequences. Boudreaux and Zywicki offer two examples: The Affordable Care Act was intended to insure all Americans, but its series of mandates, taxes and subsidies have only raised premiums, making them unaffordable to many. The law has encouraged employers to cut their workforces or drop them to part time -- again, putting insurance out of their grasp. When the Dodd-Frank financial reform bill was passed in 2010, it was intended to create federal oversight over the financial system, in order to prevent another financial crisis. Yet, the law's 400 new regulations have hit small banks the hardest, despite the large banks being the ones the law was intended to target.

Regcession—why Americans aren’t feeling Obama’s “vigorous recovery”
http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/66711 Red State.com originally published this Excerpt: Current government policy is actually the cause of that “giant sucking sound,” the reason people aren’t feeling a supposed economic recovery. These policies, in the form of regulations—especially those from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), are keeping people from living the American dream and are even lowering the standard of living from that of our parents. While we may not technically be in a recession, we are in a regcession—an economic decline caused by excessive regulations.

New Gun Law In California: Salem Witch Trials Reborn. By Tony Oliva
Excerpt: It is a dangerous precedent when one person need only point a finger at another person and cry “WITCH” and that person gets burned at the stake, drowned, or pressed to death. Yet that is exactly the situation being fostered in California now that a new gun control measure has been put in place where a person’s property can be stolen by the police and they are considered guilty just because a relative points to them and cries out “gun owner.”
The new law (AB-1014) allows families to petition a court for the seizure of guns from a family member, and then empowers police to confiscate firearms from that family member. (This is really scary. Sure, it's supposed to be about close family members who know that their husband or father is in deep depression and liable to commit suicide, or who may be talking crazy about shooting someone they don't like, but in practice, as presented, it means your second cousin who is fanatically antigun can hear about your collection and decide they don't like anyone have such weapons, and on the strength of their work, you get raided by the SWAT team and your guns are gone, and now you will be facing one long, expensive legal struggle to prove you are not nuts or dangerous to maybe get them back in a year or three. Great, just great. --Del)

Ebola News

When Obama said he wanted to offer amnesty and a path to citizenship for those who entered the US illegally, no one on either side knew he meant the Ebola virus. ~Bob

CDC: 2nd Dallas health care worker with Ebola took flight night before diagnosis
Excerpt: The second Dallas health care worker diagnosed with Ebola was on a domestic flight the night before being admitted to the hospital, and federal health officials are now tracking down all of the patient's fellow passengers, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said Wednesday. “At approximately 1:00 a.m. MT on October 15, Frontier was notified by the CDC that a customer traveling on Frontier Airlines flight 1143 Cleveland to Dallas/Fort Worth on Oct. 13 has since tested positive for the Ebola virus,” Frontier Airlines said in a statement. The flight landed at 8:16 p.m. CT. Airline crew members said the female healthcare worker was reportedly not exhibiting symptoms during the flight. (For those who thought I was paranoid....Ebola looks like a story, eh? However, open borders, unrestricted airline flights and noncontainment of those exposed, underassessment of those exposed, not stating that a viremia can exist in a pt without signs or symptoms evident (but transmissible) and that may take longer than proverbial 21 days to show signs of infection understates the risks to those involved. However, possibly infections allowed to spread to distract from plague of Enterovirus that "appeared" in US kids with opening of school and distribution of UACs from Central America throughout US and forming of caliphate by ISIS with growth. That shifting walnut shell game....Barb. Even paranoids have enemies...~Bob)

Second Ebola-infected nurse flown from Dallas to Atlanta for specialized treatment
Excerpt: The patient was identified earlier in the day as 29-year-old Amber Vinson as authorities expressed concern that she took a domestic flight — reportedly to prepare for her wedding in Cleveland — just one day before coming down with symptoms of the deadly disease.

CDC chief: After Dallas nurse’s Ebola infection, U.S. must ‘rethink’ protocols
Excerpt: As a 26-year-old Dallas nurse lay infected in the same hospital where she treated a dying Ebola patient last week, government officials on Monday said the first transmission of the disease in the United States had revealed systemic failures in preparation that must “substantially” change in coming days.

Obama's Disease-Infected America

Excerpt: I do not believe it was empty rhetoric when Dr. Ben Carson told Fox News host Chris Wallace that “there might not actually be elections in 2016. …” Carson did not specifically mention a pandemic of disease as the reason for same, stating instead the possibility of economic disaster and ISIS. I say, what could be more economically devastating than a disease pandemic and martial law to prevent a run on banks and to allow government-controlled media blackouts? (The opposition to a hated president always fears he'll cancel elections somehow. They were saying this about Nixon when I was in college. Lincoln held an election he expected to lose in the middle of a civil war. ~Bob)

Obama Ebola Laxness Ignores US-Funded Studies
Excerpt: A US government-funded September 2, 2014 scientific quantitative transmission analysis study (the Spread-Risk Ebola Study) wholly contradicts and refutes Obama’s statements on September 16 that the chances of a US Ebola breakout are “extremely low,” Arutz Sheva has discovered. The study also contradicts the anti-travel ban claims made by the US, UN, WHO and CDC....Another US government-funded scientific study, published on September 29, 2014, (the Travel-Risk Ebola Study) was funded by a grant from the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Fogarty International Center, National Institutes of Health (NIH), also further contradicts and refutes the WHO/UN/CDC anti-travel ban stance, and explicitly traces the likelihood of the transmission of the Ebola virus from Ebola hot spots to other travel-based connected areas.

Congressional Democrats Fight The Idea Of An Ebola Travel Ban
Excerpt: Congressional Democrats are siding with the Obama administration — and against a growing number of Americans — when it comes to a government mandated travel ban from Ebola hotspots in Africa. While 67 percent of Americans support the idea of a travel ban, many elected Democrats are decidedly against the idea. The Hill reports, “House Democrats are pushing back hard against proposals to institute a travel ban in the fight against the Ebola virus.” (Can we send them down there to help the troops? --Barb)

Worth Reading: Actually, flu is the virus you should really be worrying about. By Ruth Marcus
Excerpt: If you are worried about contracting Ebola, I have two suggestions. First, stop. Second, get a flu shot. On the first: If you live in the United States, your chances of getting Ebola are vanishingly small — even if you are a health-care worker, or a journalist who travels to Africa to report on the epidemic. ... There is an interesting debate about how many people die of the flu each year. The standard, prod-the-masses-into-getting-shots figure is north of 30,000.

We'll tell you how dangerous Ebola is after the election. By Ann Coulter
Excerpt: It's becoming increasingly clear this is just another platform for Obama to demonstrate that we are citizens of the world. The entire Ebola issue is being discussed -- by our government, not the United Nations -- as if Liberians are indistinguishable from Americans, and U.S. taxpayers should be willing to pay whatever it takes to save them. Maybe we should give them the vote, too! If Ebola was concentrated in Finland and Norway -- certainly Israel! -- we'd have had a travel ban on Day One

Fight the spread of Ebola by wiping out malaria with DDT. By Charles Hurt
Excerpt: Only now that it has reached America’s shores, threatens to wreak havoc on the world’s economy and, most importantly to the president and his political allies, appears poised to deliver a staggering blow to the Democratic Party and their borderless agenda of recklessness and ineptitude in November’s elections. ... One thing is absolutely certain: These people have been exactly, completely, 100 percent wrong every step of the way. (Liberals banned DDT, causing the needless deaths of third world kids from Malaria. But they saved the birds...that they are now chopping up in wind farms. ~Bob)
Race Card News

Worth Reading: Ethnic aristocracies have no place in modern America. By Victor Davis Hanson
http://www.jewishworldreview.com/1014/hanson101614.php3
Excerpt: Once upon a time, the liberal position was to reject the old discriminatory branding of people by the color of their skins rather than by the content of their characters.
Not now. Political and career advantage is found in trumpeting -- or occasionally making up -- genealogies. Take the inexact category of Latino or Hispanic -- an often constructed identity that increasingly no one quite knows how to define. Almost anyone can be a Latino or Hispanic, from a fourth-generation American with one-quarter Mexican ancestry, to a first-generation Cuban, to a youth who recently arrived illegally from Central America, to someone whose great-grandparents emigrated from the Portuguese Azores.

Black voters in St. Louis County direct their anger at the Democratic Party. By Sandhya Somashekhar
Excerpt: Many African Americans in Ferguson and across St. Louis County, angered over their leaders’ response to the fatal shooting, say they will be taking their outrage to the ballot box and voting against a Democratic Party that has long been their automatic choice.

FergusonMissouri, and Black Nationalism
Excerpt: The ideology that has grabbed a hold of Ferguson is the same one that destroyed Detroit.... Imagine mixing a little Marxism, a generous portion of Islamism, and throwing in bits and pieces of class envy, class warfare, and a compromised version of Christianity that Jesus Christ would fail to recognize, stir it all together with a generous portion of anger and hate thrown in, and you’ve got Black Nationalism.

Former FL Governor Candidate Arrested For Fraud, Officers Cautionary For Ebola
Yinka Abodeda Adeshina ran as a Republican candidate for Florida Governor in the August 2014 primary election. The Florida Department of Law says Adeshina reported raising $182,000 to the Department of State in hopes to receive additional money because candidates in the state of Florida can collect matching funds from taxpayers if they raise over $150,000 on their own....She was returning from a three-week vacation in Nigeria, a country of "high concern" for Ebola. (Not on Nov ballot. --Barb)

A Nigerian president, nonexistent donors, and the campaign of a little-known GOP gubernatorial candidate
Excerpt: Her financial disclosure forms list a net worth of $8,000, which she says is the campaign account. ...Her website says she graduated from Wayne State University’s College of Pharmacy in 1997 and has worked at CVS and with HCA hospitals. Department of Business and Professional Regulations records don’t list Adeshina as having any professional license in Florida. (Several of her contributions, per article, came from an address in the middle of the old city cemetery. Apparently wanted to know when she was going to "get her money." Wonder if she expected it to pay for her holiday back to Nigeria? Purportedly a pharmacist, but not really. Ran for President in 2012. Was trying for FL Gov. Tried to game the system. Why not? And was Ebola screened prior to arrest. --Barb)

Obamacare/Government Healthcare News

Worth Reading: Obamacare is in hiding until after the election: How our government is obscuring facts about your health insurance until after the election. By Robert Laszewski
Excerpt: Last month the administration announced that 7.3 million people were insured under Obamacare as of mid-August. That was the first announcement of enrollment made by the administration since April. They provided just one number and no backup and admitted that they had been collecting enrollment data from insurers all along. They conveniently reported this figure just before enrollment is expected to take a big fall when thousands of people hit the deadline to clear up discrepancies in their income and legal resident status or risk losing subsidies or coverage altogether. We still don't know how many lost coverage or are still in limbo.

Democrats' New Obamacare Strategy: Lowering Expectations. By Guy Benson
Excerpt: Scaling back the public's expectations is a strategy Obamacare defenders ought to have employed during their original sales pitch of 2009 and 2010. If they hadn't made some many big, falsifiable promises, a lot of consumer anger, frustration and betrayal might have been prevented. Then again, if they hadn't made all of those vows, the law wouldn't have passed in the first place.

Religion of Peace News

Worth reading: Ruins of the Middle East: Obama shuns our friends and courts our enemies. By Victor Davis Hanson
Excerpt: Obama’s unfortunate Middle East legacy was predicated on six flawed assumptions: (1) a special relationship with Turkey; (2) distancing the U.S. from Israel; (3) empathy for Islamist governments as exemplified by the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt; (4) a sort of non-aggression agreement with Iran; (5) expecting his own multicultural fides to resonate in the region; (6) pulling out of Iraq and Afghanistan. Let us examine what has followed.

Obama faces growing pressure to escalate in Iraq and Syria. By David Ignatius
Excerpt: As fighters from the Islamic State surge in Iraq toward control of Anbar province in the west and the town of Kobane on the Syrian border , U.S. commanders and diplomats are signaling that the United States must expand its military operations before the extremists control even more territory.

Worth Reading: Obama’s long-term ISIS strategy could hurt Dems in short term
Excerpt: The White House on Tuesday defended President Obama’s strategy for combating the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), even as the terror network racks up substantial tactical gains and a top Pentagon official has conceded he is only “somewhat” confident Iraqi forces can hold Baghdad. For the administration, projecting confidence and progress is essential in order to retain and recruit allies for a campaign the United States knows it cannot win on its own.
It’s also essential to minimizing the political headaches created by military setbacks — an especially important point for a White House desperately seeking to project competence before the midterm elections. (And it will hurt Americans, Iraqis and Kurds long and short term. ~Bob)

Islamic State suicide bomber kills Badr militia leader in Baghdad
Excerpt: The Islamic State claimed credit for today's suicide attack in Baghdad that killed Ahmed al Khafaji, who was a senior commander in the Shiite Badr militia and a member of parliament, along with at least 20 other Iraqis. Khafaji's death was confirmed by another member of Iraq's parliament as well as by a hospital official.

Turkey Denies Agreement With Obama Administration. From The Patriot Post
National Security Advisor Susan Rice announced Sunday that Turkey had “in the last several days made a commitment that they will in the first instance allow the United States and our partners to use Turkish bases and territory to train ... moderate Syrian opposition forces.” Not only that, she said, "In addition, they have said that their facilities inside of Turkey can be used by the coalition forces, American and otherwise, to engage in activities inside of Iraq and Syria. That's the new commitment, and one that we very much welcome.” Rice has never been known to tell a lie on a Sunday talk show before, so imagine our surprise when Turkey denied any such agreement. "There is no decision at the moment," said foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu. The truth is, the administration's approach to ISIL is a pathetic JV effort, and they're having trouble recruiting allies as a result.

Chilling ISIS army training video: This ain’t no jayvee team
Excerpt: At a time when President Obama is deploying our combat troops to West Africa to contend with Ebola, take a gander at this recently-released ISIS recruiting video – these guys are certainly not a “jayvee” team. Can you imagine what would happen to a drill instructor in our military who kicked a recruit in the stomach?

Kurdish women fighters
Hope you watch to the end to see the 20 year old beautiful female warrior. Unfortunately, the US is doing very little or nothing to arm the Kurds fighting ISIS in Kobani, where they will likely be defeated. I imagine such women will be brutalized, killed or become slaves. Many will probably take their own lives. --GHB, MajGen, USMC (Ret)

Excerpt: Usama Mahmood, the spokesman for al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), announced on Oct. 11 that a veteran jihadist named Sheikh Imran Ali Siddiqi (a.k.a. Haji Shaikh Waliullah) had been killed in a US drone strike. On his official Twitter feed, Mahmood explained that Imran had been waging jihad since 1990 and that he was a member of the AQIS shura council at the time of his death. Imran's career provides insight into the makeup of al Qaeda's newest branch.

Iran: Don't Stop Nuke Talks for 'Trivial Issue' Like Centrifuges. Iranian parliament chairman tries to distract with hint of Iran help against ISIS after nuke deal, as Iran spy chief talks 'sabotage.'
Excerpt: Iranian parliament chairman Ali Larijani said on Wednesday that ongoing nuclear talks between his country and world powers in Geneva should not be disrupted by a "trivial issue" - such as the number of nuclear centrifuges left in the Islamic regime by a deal. Iran in July claimed it "needs" 19 times more nuclear centrifuges than the number offered by world powers, demanding 190,000 centrifuges. Experts have warned Iran must be stripped of its centrifuges, for if left with its current 19,000 centrifuges it would have sudden breakout capacity of six to seven weeks in which it could enrich uranium quickly and achieve a nuclear bomb.

Support Allies, Not Terrorists. By Shoshana Bryen
Excerpt: For the moment and against the odds, Kobani stands. Kurdish men and women, abandoned by the United States and watched but not aided by Turkey, hold the line against the sweep of ISIS across Iraq and Syria; one little point of heroism that may be gone by the time you read this. ISIS, on the other hand -- well-financed, armed, vicious, and fighting on toward Baghdad -- will assuredly not be gone. ... Except they were not discussing Kobani. They were trying to raise $4 billion for the Gaza Strip, to remove the evidence of Hamas's rocket war against Israel and its own people. Israel was not represented. (Yet another instance of Obama hounding friends, ignoring the plight of other friends and coddling enemies. Cordially, Larry Greenberg)

Video: Pentagon reportedly held info on chemical weapons in Iraq

The Secret Casualties of Iraq’s Abandoned Chemical Weapons
Excerpt: From 2004 to 2011, American and American-trained Iraqi troops repeatedly encountered, and on at least six occasions were wounded by, chemical weapons remaining from years earlier in Saddam Hussein’s rule. In all, American troops secretly reported finding roughly 5,000 chemical warheads, shells or aviation bombs, according to interviews with dozens of participants, Iraqi and American officials, and heavily redacted intelligence documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act.

Worth Viewing: Islamic rape epidemic in Norway
Excerpt: Norway is in the forefront of countries critical of Israel and is instrumental in boycott actions. Is Israel or its few Jews a threat to Norway? And yet it is so PC about the many unassimilated Muslims they have accepted and continue to accept, that Norwegians do little to stop the abuse and harm women suffer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoiCYwoJKrE. This is also true for many European countries. There is the shocking revelation of a decade of sex crimes against British girls for over a decade that was covered up by authorities for reasons of PC: http://legalinsurrection.com/2014/08/political-correctness-helped-cover-up-child-sexual-exploitation-in-rotherham/ The left wing there and in the US, so "concerned about a war on women" (abortion rights that they call "reproductive rights), is silent on this. And they are silent about the rape, enslavement, maimings and killings of women (not to mention the execution of their male relatives who try to protect them) by ISIS. Cordially, Larry Greenberg

HILARIOUS: Check Out What ISIS Thinks Will Make U.S. Soldiers Shake In Their Boots
