Excerpt: Addressing last year’s Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, then US defense secretary Jim Mattis dismissed fears first voiced in 1997 by Zbigniew Brzezinski, Jimmy Carter’s National Security Advisor, that long-term US interests would be most threatened by a “grand coalition” of China and Russia “united not by ideology but by complementary grievances.” On the contrary, Mattis suggested. China and Russia have a “natural non-convergence of interests” despite the fact that both countries have defined their relationship as a “comprehensive strategic partnership,” he argued. “There may be short-term convergence in the event they want to contradict international tribunals or try muscling their way into certain circumstances but my view – I would not be wasting my time going to Beijing…if I really thought that’s the only option between us and China. What would be the point of it? I’ve got more important things to do,” Mattis argued.

Excerpt: Although DDT soon became synonymous with poison, the pesticide was an effective weapon in the fight against an infection that has killed—and continues to kill—more people than any other: malaria. By 1960, due largely to DDT, malaria had been eliminated from eleven countries, including the United States. As malaria rates went down, life expectancies went up; as did crop production, land values, and relative wealth. Probably no country benefited from DDT more than Nepal, where spraying began in 1960. At the time, more than two million Nepalese, mostly children, suffered from malaria. By 1968, the number was reduced to 2,500; and life expectancy increased from 28 to 42 years.
After DDT was banned, malaria reemerged across the globe:
• In India, between 1952 and 1962, DDT caused a decrease in annual malaria cases from 100 million to 60,000. By the late 1970s, no longer able to use DDT, the number of cases increased to 6 million.• In Sri Lanka, before the use of DDT, 2.8 million people suffered from malaria. When the spraying stopped, only 17 people suffered from the disease. Then, no longer able to use DDT, Sri Lanka suffered a massive malaria epidemic: 1.5 million people were infected by the parasite.• In South Africa, after DDT became unavailable, the number of malaria cases increased from 8,500 to 42,000 and malaria deaths from 22 to 320.
The Science is
Never Settled. If it’s settled. It ain’t science. For decades the “settled science”
believed that stomach ulcers were caused by stress., This was so ingrained
that, despite being proved wrong a while ago, many people still believe it. An
unknown Australian doctor’ research convinced him they were caused by the h. Pylori
bacteria. “The medical
elite thought they knew what caused ulcers and stomach cancer. But they were
wrong—and didn't want to hear otherwise.” Dr. Barry Marshall had to take the
extreme step of infecting himself, then curing himself with antibiotics, to get
the “settled science” changed.
excerpt: The Green New Deal would cost trillions of dollars a year and cause “significant environmental damage,” according to a new report. The report, by American Enterprise Institute scholar Benjamin Zycher, claims the Green New Deal championed by many 2020 Democratic presidential candidates would come with its own set of environmental issues from rapidly expanding renewable energy.
Excerpt: In journalism, a "lede" is the introductory section of a news story, intended to entice the reader into reading the full story. Traditionally, the lede is the first (or "lead") paragraph. But in today's fast-paced news media, enticements include the story's headline, subheading and a short summary that precedes the actual story, usually distinguished by a different typeface. (Larry Elder is a brilliant, well spoken Black American. This column from him really shows not just his clear mind on the various topics of racism, reparations, etc, but most of all demonstrates again how utterly irresponsible and deliberately misleading the media so often is. --Del)

I Fought In The Battle Of Mogadishu. Here’s What Rep. Ilhan Omar Gets Wrong About ‘Black Hawk Down’. Omar enjoys the fruits of American combat deaths, yet she can't even bring herself to acknowledge the ultimate sacrifice that was made on her behalf.
So Ilhan Omar owes her life to US soldiers....But feels free, blessed as she and her family are to be here, to be alive at all, to not be stuck in the chaos and violence of Somalia, to smear the Americans who served there, fought and died there trying to help the starving and oppressed people. This is a new record for ingratitude, and every American should hear about it. --Del
Wow, this is the first time I've seen any kind of article about the Vietnamese invasion and occupation of Cambodia. I bet a whole book could be written about that conflict, which lasted a lot longer than I'd thought. --Del

Nineteen of those, he says, were "the fault of the Marine either doing something he was told not to do and trained not to do or not doing something he was trained to do." (Damn Right! -Del)
Interesting, bit by bit the discovery of information goes on. Not that it gets any attention at all, even though it's a real event as opposed to a mythical one like "collusion", but of course that's how the media operate now. Is there really any question whatsoever remaining that Hillary made one huge mess of her responsibilities to keep information flow secure? Which, in the office she held at the time, was an absolute duty, the nonperformance of which was an indictable offense? --Del
I'm getting old and nasty, and my answer to ISIS was to kill everyone of them possible, and never, ever let anyone who joined them return from the deserts to any of their home countries. But of course that was way too harsh for Europeans and out of the question for other countries, especially the ones with Muslim populations, so now the cancer cells are there, still growing, and the dangers are there and also growing. I think it would take very harsh measures now to dig out and deal with the fanatics, and it's not happening, so we can all look forward to anti-West and anti-Christian atrocities continuing indefinitely. In the long run there may be consequences so terrible in Western nations that no one wants to even think of them today. But the ostrich defense has never worked well. Del

(Washington, DC) — Judicial Watch today released new State Department documents including a declaration from FBI Special Agent E.W. Priestap, the supervisor of the agency’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email activities, stating that the former secretary of state was the subject of a grand jury investigation related to her BlackBerry email accounts.
The last time there was a reasonably Christian Europe was probably before WW2. Or maybe up until the mid-seventies at best. Church attendance has been down in the middle teens for a very long time now all across Europe and Scandinavia, and all the churches are very short of anyone signing up to be clergy, Catholics perhaps among the worst of all. Protestant churches do better since they accept women clergy now, but all the churches have their own scandals going, some have openly gay priests and bishops who are very public about not being celibate. Security, affluence, the rise of selfcenteredness, the promotion of shallow values all take their toll on societies. And aggressive secularism, which is its own kind of religion, makes things even worse. Meanwhile, the burgeoning fervor of Islam keeps spreading, and that fraction of Muslims who slide into jihadist thinking is quite large enough to cause increasing problems. Which many European governments are very loath to confront, so the extremists get to stay free and spread their gospel and multiply. All the attacks on churches in France are a flashing red light telling everyone how bad things have gotten.I don't know if the fire at Notre Dame was set or not, and I don't think anyone else knows one way or the other either. But it's certainly not impossible, and given the tendency of the government to ignore or even deny the effects of the extremists, I sure can't take their word for it. So I still wonder if it was a set fire, and if it was, will anyone ever admit that? In any case, I am extremely sad about Europe today. Heaven help them. --Del
Excerpt: Yesterday my rival for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, Elizabeth Warren, recently proposed wiping out all of the student-loan debt for 75 percent of borrowers, at cost to taxpayers of $640 billion. As a candidate for the 2020 Democratic nomination, I can only say that Warren is a miserly cheapskate. Because today I am calling for something truly bold: wiping out all mortgage debt for all borrowers. Because what good is a taxpayer-funded college education if you have a hard time affording a home at the end of the day? My plan would cover all $10.3 trillion in mortgage debt that Americans currently owe. The arguments in favor of having the government pay for your student-loan debt are every bit as applicable to having the government pay for your mortgage debt.

This time the location was Sri Lanka, where a series of bombs targeted Catholic and Evangelical churches and foreigner-friendly hotels, killing more than 300 people and wounding another 500, almost all Sri Lankan citizens. The Easter killings were a calculated attack on Christianity.

Excerpt: “Blood Libel by Kuwaiti Researcher Muhanna Hamad Al-Muhanna: The Jews Use Blood of Christian Children for Holiday Pastries,” MEMRI, February 26, 2019: Kuwaiti researcher Muhanna Hamad Al-Muhanna repeated the antisemitic blood libel that Jews use human blood, preferably of Christian children, in the making of holiday pastries. He further said that the Jews would destroy the moral values and economy of any country they entered, that they monopolized the slave trade, and that Hitler had decided to get rid of the Jews because they were behind movements fighting the social order and behind pornography. Al-Muhanna warned that anyone who normalizes relations with them is “a Jew like them.” Muhanna posted the video on his Youtube channel, which has over 13,000 subscribers, on February 26, 2019. The 47-minute long video was viewed close to 25,000 times.
Excerpt: The partisan warfare over the Mueller report will rage, but one thing cannot be denied: Former President Barack Obama looks just plain bad. On his watch, the Russians meddled in our democracy while his administration did nothing about it. Scott Jennings The Mueller report flatly states that Russia began interfering in American democracy in 2014. Over the next couple of years, the effort blossomed into a robust attempt to interfere in our 2016 presidential election. The Obama administration knew this was going on and yet did nothing. In 2016, Obama's National Security Adviser Susan Rice told her staff to "stand down" and "knock it off" as they drew up plans to "strike back" against the Russians, according to an account from Michael Isikoff and David Corn in their book "Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin's War on America and the Election of Donald Trump" (Interesting... the CNN website is loaded with articles slamming Trump and claiming the Mueller Report has little bits of stuff in it that means Trump did bad things despite the Report saying there was no collusion. But here is an article really damning Obama for his failure to react to the Russian activities for two years. I guess there are still some actual journalists working there.--Del)

Excerpt: The Democrats may have a way out. Recent polls suggesting their party regulars are not socialist diehards has given them comfort. And there is always identity politics. Sanders’s old-left message of economic security for all is vulnerable to attack from identity groups demanding recognition and entitlements for their particular constituencies. Coalition management is a game Clinton played beautifully—she had policies for every part of the Democratic rainbow. Bernie has big plans for all of us. And it would be foolish to underestimate him. The last seven days will be remembered as the week Washington D.C. realized Bernie might win. And began to understand that we have no idea what to do about it.
Excerpt: Massachusetts’ Mount Holyoke College and Smith College announced on Wednesday that Daniel Hect, their new joint campus police chief, has been placed on administrative leave after his social media activity sparked a backlash among the school’s students. Hect, who leads the Mount Holyoke College and Smith College campus police department, on February 6 shared news of his new appointment to Twitter. “I am excited to announce I have accepted the position of Chief of Police at Mount Holyoke and Smith colleges, two of the most prestigious all women’s institutions in the nation,” he wrote. Hect officially began his role on February 18. Shortly after, students from Mount Holyoke and Smith College began looking into Hect’s Twitter history and noticed some controversial activity. According to Smith’s student newspaper The Sophian, students discovered that the official has liked tweets “almost exclusively in response to President Trump’s tweets and included anti-immigrant, pro-gun rights and racist sentiments.” Hect was also found to have liked various miscellaneous messages from the National Rifle Association (NRA).
Leftists Think Socialism Is A Substitute For Loving Their Neighbor https://theresurgent.com/…/leftists-think-socialism-is-a-…/… Excerpt: Presidential hopefuls are releasing tax records and, as should have been expected, those who vilify capitalism haven’t been charitable toward the poor. In 2017, Senator and Democratic Presidential front-runner Bernie Sanders donated roughly three percent of his exorbitant $566,000 household income. Sanders’ competitor Beto O’Rourke and his wife gave a miserable $1,166 of their $370,412 income in 2017 to charity. That’s less than one-third of one percent.

here is little anti-Muslim violence in the U.S., and especially not in big cities. Why does Brooklyn support Muslim posses?
