General News and Comment

Hiding the Truth. By Robert A. Hall

Worth Reading: Election Day Looms. By Andy Weddington
Excerpt: This is an important election. It is surely a referendum on Barack Obama; a presidency that has not done America an iota of good (quite the contrary); and on anyone holding office (up for reelection) who voted for him and have supported his destructive policies.

Biden's son fails drug test, is discharged from Navy
Excerpt: The younger son of Vice President Joe Biden failed a drug test for cocaine, a month after his commissioning last year into the Navy Reserve and was discharged.
Hunter Biden, an ensign, had been selected for commission as a reserve officer through the Direct Commission Officer program in 2012, according to Cmdr. Ryan Perry, a Navy spokesman.

Debate Organizers: Scott Didn't Refuse to Join Debate
Excerpt: Leadership Florida and the Florida Press Association did not anticipate or plan for the possibility that a candidate would not hone the Debate rules. In retrospect, the Debate Partners should have been better prepared for this possibility. In addition, we regret that one candidate was allowed to take the stage and allowed to talk before the fan issue was resolved. (Per article, repeat temperature check under studio lights showed a temperature of 66 degrees F and no fan was necessary. Crist's staff (and/or Crist) ignored the rules agreed to. Rules, laws, what's it matter? --Barb. Or, as Hillary said about Benghazi, "What difference does it make? ~Bob)

Massachusetts Governor: Baker (R) 48%, Coakley (D) 46%
Excerpt: The gubernatorial race in Massachusetts remains close with less than three weeks to go until Election Day. A new Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Massachusetts Voters finds Republican Charlie Baker picking up 48% of the vote to Democratic Attorney General Martha Coakley’ 46%. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate, while five percent (5%) are undecided.

Excerpt: Another Democratic Senate candidate has refused to say whether she voted for President Obama: This time it was Michelle Nunn in Georgia.

Michael Dukakis testifies in Tsarnaev friend trial
Excerpt: It was an odd moment in the trial of a friend of the man accused of carrying out the Boston Marathon bombing: Michael Dukakis, the former Massachusetts governor and 1988 Democratic presidential nominee, testifying for the defense.

Excerpt: The truth is finally coming out about the investigation of Army SGT Bowe Bergdahl but as usual, truth is something progressive socialists shun. Not that there was a need for another investigation - all they had to do was open up the classified investigative report at the Pentagon completed back in 2010.

Confessions of an AP Teacher: College Board’s New History Curriculum is Terrible. By M. Jane Rodgers
Excerpt: Students will not learn all there is of significance regarding the founding of our nation without a sufficient grounding in the people, places, events, documents, and rhetoric of the Revolution. (I got this from a Facebook post by my daughter’s AP U.S. History teacher. He is a true conservative, not an ideologue. He taught my older daughter (Catherine), and she blew a 5 out of 5 on the exam. Since then, they have famously (or infamously) redesigned the Exam and the curriculum behind it. Now my younger daughter Grace is in the Guinea Pig Class, the first to suffer through the changes. --Steve)

Excerpt: The victim was on her way home from a nearby store—the kind that Moms Demand Action would like to ban you from carrying guns in—and forced into a vacant home by a man who beat her severely, ripped off her clothes, and attempted to rape her. The victim escaped and screamed for help, at which point a concealed carry permit holder that lives nearby sprang into action, ordering the suspect out of the vacant home at gunpoint. The suspect, Jeffery McSwain, Jr, attempted to escape on foot but was chased down by the concealed carry permit holder and another man and was held until police arrived. (Did you see any of this in the daily newspapers or on the TV news? Cordially, Larry Greenberg)

19 Times the Government Withheld Documents It Didn’t Want You to See. By Sharyl Attkisson
Excerpt: Lost and missing government records are not isolated to one administration or political party. The list below includes 19 examples of public files that went missing, were withheld or lost and then found. It includes the most recent example of former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Raymond Maxwell’s account of Benghazi documents, which The Daily Signal revealed last month.

People think Democrats ‘get’ them. But they are voting for Republicans. By Aaron Blake
Excerpt: Democrats are likely to lose the Senate in three weeks -- at least according to just about everybody -- and their brand hasn't been worse in at least the last 30 years, according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll released this week. And yet, through it all, they remain the party that Americans empathize with the most. It's almost as if Democrats are the party people would like to vote for, but they just can't right now.

The Progressive Pajama Boy Era Is Over. By Daniel Greenfield
Excerpt: Obama’s approval ratings and MSNBC’s viewer ratings are in a close race to the bottom of Death Valley. It’s only a question of which set of obnoxious hipsters with a head full of bad policy ideas and no real life experience will be fired first; the Maddow crew or the White House staff. ... A sober analysis of the Big Billionaire Left shows that they were good at getting Obama elected, but not much else.

Worth Reading: Why Conservatives are Happy and Leftists Are Angry. By Steve Moeller
Excerpt: In a 2006 study the Pew Research Center discovered that almost twice as many conservative Republicans said they were “very happy” as leftist Democrats (28% to 47%). In a 2007 Pew study three out of four Republicans (74%) with annual incomes under $50,000 said they were “pretty well satisfied” with their financial condition. ... The conservatives had substantially higher incidents of marriage, attended church more often, and gave a higher percentage of their time and income to charities. All of these behaviors are associated with higher levels of life satisfaction. (I have often observed that the source of most of the evil in the world is envy. If one is obsessed with what another has, and what he has not, one invariably comes to hate the other. In doing so, one can develop a sense of victimization in which the fault of one's insufficient circumstances is entirely external. Then one can reject personal responsibility and would look primarily for others to provide sustenance and advancement. Cordially, Larry Greenberg)

Elizabeth Warren: The Rich White Man’s Candidate. By Daniel Greenfield
Excerpt: The political establishment with its clouds of consultants, advisers and fixers rarely bothers glancing out of its enclaves of wealth and privilege to take stock of America. Instead it taps at the virtual pages of the paper of record on the appropriate app, nods its head at having its prejudices confirmed and moves on. And that is why the Elizabeth Warren political express remains convinced that a wealthy professor and government insider who occasionally says all the approved things about Wall Street that Obama used to say is the Democratic Party’s best hope for connecting with the youth, women and the working class.

Holder's deputy to resign
Excerpt: The Justice Department's second-raking official is preparing to step down, completing an exodus of top brass from the agency, according to a DOJ official. Deputy Attorney General James M. Cole would become the third high-ranking member of the Department of Justice (DOJ) to announce his departure in recent weeks.... He was most visible on issues involving data collection and was closely involved with the agency’s response to legalization of marijuana in some states.

Hagan Firm Keeps Stimulus Project Savings, Sends None to Taxpayers. Hiring family-owned company seems to have violated conflict-of-interest policy. By Don Carrington
Excerpt: JDC Manufacturing, a company co-owned by Democratic U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan’s husband Charles “Chip” Hagan, lowered the total cost of a 2010 stimulus-funded energy project but kept all of the savings, sending none back to taxpayers who had funded the stimulus grant.
The company’s original application stated the total project would cost $438,627, and said JDC would contribute “leveraged funds” amounting to $187,983, or 43 percent of the total. As the project reached completion, however, JDC revised the total budget downward by $114,519 and applied all the savings to its share, keeping all the taxpayer funding.

Video Raises Parenting Questions About Tough Love and Emotional Abuse
Excerpt: In the video, the mother makes her son walk around with books over his head. The son appears to be humiliated as the mother has him repeat, "I'm not going to disrespect my teacher." Many people are praising the mom's methods, but others say it is causing emotional scars. (Those books probably weigh about one pound. Every Marine who has completed basic training at either Parris Island or San Diego has spent a lot of time holding their rifle over their head because of something that they or some other recruit messed up. For me it was an M-14 that weighed slightly over nine pounds, much more than the weight of these books this kid is being forced to hold over his head. It not only made us stronger physically but encouraged us to not repeat the same mistake. And instead of leaving emotional scars, it made all of us better men. --MasterGuns)

Dunford Takes Command of the Corps, Issues First Order To Marines
Excerpt: The 36th commandant’s first order to the Marine Corps as he took command was a simple one: Continue to march. "Today I’m not so much proud to be the commandant as I am to wear the cloth." (Fair winds and following seas to General Amos. Welcome aboard to General Dunford. The Corps is in good hands and will continue the time honored tradition of being the best fighting force in the world. Semper Fidelis! --MasterGuns)

U.S. Marine Walks Away From Shot to Helmet
Excerpt: It is hard to know whether Monday was a very bad day or a very good day for Lance Cpl. Andrew Koenig. On the one hand, he was shot in the head. On the other, the bullet bounced off him.

Look at this idiot Marine running around Khe Sanh Ville in 1967 with a bush cover instead of a helmet because he thinks it's "cool." Wait, he looks familiar...

The O Stands for Overpromise. By Jonah Goldberg, The Goldberg File
Every president claims the mantle of confidence and competence, and rightly so. That’s what leaders do and what we expect of them. But Obama was really something different. From the earliest days of his presidential run right through to today, Obama has exuded a boundless faith in his own competence and in the ability of government to tackle any problem. We all remember this sort of thing: “I think that I’m a better speechwriter than my speechwriters,” Mr. Obama told Patrick Gaspard, his political director, at the start of the 2008 campaign, according to The New Yorker. “I know more about policies on any particular issue than my policy directors. And I’ll tell you right now that I’m going to think I’m a better political director than my political director.” Finding other examples of Obama setting the bar impossibly high for himself are as easy to find as examples of Joe Biden putting squirrels in his pants (I mean that figuratively, not literally, the way Joe Biden means “literally”). The sheer arrogance of a foreign policy based on “Don’t Do Stupid Stuff”; the notion that you could vow the seas would stop rising thanks to your nomination and not eventually be mocked for it; his declaration that “I actually believe my own bullsh*t”; his assurance to a congressman that the 2010 midterms won’t turn out like they did in 1994 because “you’ve got me”; his claim that cynicism was his only opponent, as if he personified hope like a character from Pilgrim’s Progress; his determination not to be like Bill Clinton but instead be a “transformative” president who would “make government cool again.”

Chicago Names Most Rat-Infested City In USA
Excerpt: A new assessment by the pest control company Orkin has awarded ChicagoIllinois, the Windy City, a new title: Rat City USA. Reviewing its client and jobs list for 2013, the national pest control company fond that Chicago topped its lists for rat removal work. In a press release, Orkin noted that October is a prime month for rat activity as the pests begin to root for food for the coming cold weather and start looking for places indoors to wait out the winter. (4-legged or 2-legged? --Barb)

Creating Liberals: Just 3 Percent of Colleges Require Students to Take Economics
Excerpt: In its sixth annual study of curriculum at 1,098 colleges and universities in the United States, the American Council of Trustees and Alumni reports some staggering facts about college course requirements: Just 18 percent of schools require students to take an American history class to graduate. Only 13 percent of schools require a foreign language. A miniscule 3 percent of schools require students to take a course in economics before receiving their degrees.

As disability awards grow, so do concerns over the veracity of veterans’ PTSD claims. By Alan Zarembo
Excerpt: As disability awards for PTSD have grown nearly fivefold over the past 13 years, so have concerns that many veterans might be exaggerating or lying to win benefits. Moering, a former Marine, estimates that roughly half of the veterans he evaluates for the disorder exaggerate or fabricate symptoms. Depending on severity, veterans with PTSD can receive up to $3,000 a month tax-free, making the disorder the biggest contributor to the growth of a disability system in which payments have more than doubled to $49 billion since 2002. (Mine comes from having picked Ham and Limas two days in a row from the C-rats case. The horror...~Bob)

Braced for Voter Fraud in Colorado. A new election law leaves the door wide open for abuse in hotly contested races. By John Fund
Excerpt: The law, known as House Bill 1303, makes Colorado the only state in the country to combine two radical changes in election law: 1) abolishing the traditional polling place and having every voter mailed a ballot and 2) establishing same-day registration, which allows someone to appear at a government office and register and vote on the same day without showing photo ID or any other verifiable evidence that establishes identity. If they register online a few days before, no human being ever has to show up to register or vote. A few keystrokes can create a voter and a “valid” ballot. Once a ballot cast under same-day registration is mixed in with others, there is no way to separate it out if the person who voted is later found ineligible. Other jurisdictions that have same-day registration, such as Washington, D.C., treat the vote as a provisional ballot pending verification. Colorado immediately counts the vote.

Ebola and Enterovirus News

Excerpt: A passenger died on a Nigeria-to-JFK flight after a vomiting fit Thursday — and a top lawmaker said officials gave the corpse only a “cursory” exam before declaring that the victim did not have Ebola. Rep. Peter King said in a letter to Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection that the handling of the remains exposed serious flaws in airport preparedness for an Ebola outbreak.

White House: New Ebola Czar Will Report to Susan Rice. By Katie Pavlich
Excerpt: As a reminder, Susan Rice is the woman who went on five Sunday talk shows to lie about a YouTube video being responsible for the 9/11 attack in Benghazi. She is also the same person who said alleged Army deserter and Taliban sympathizer Bowe Bergdahl served with honor and distinction.

Obama Admin Predicted 25% Ebola Threat To U.S… Obama Downplayed
Excerpt: The analysis found a nearly 25 percent “probability of Ebola virus disease case importation” to the United States within 3 to 6 weeks. Nevertheless, President Obama falsely said on September 16 that experts “across our government” agree that America's Ebola vulnerability was extremely low. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also repeatedly assured the American people that the Ebola risk was low, even after the alarming government study was completed.

DHS Started Expediting Visa Extensions From Ebola Countries In August
Excerpt: In short, the USCIS has been waiving fees, expediting the immigration process, and allowing extensions of visas for anyone coming from the three designated Ebola-stricken countries, provided that they are in the United StatesThe Free Republic blog reported that the law firm of Edward W. Neufville, III, LLC, a Washington, D.C. area immigration firm, added a section to their website two days after the USCIS announcement, with more details about how these relief measures would work, including extensions of the time that the foreign national could remain in the United States, additional work permit opportunities, and even forgiveness for failure to appear at required interviews or submit required evidence.

Budget Cuts and Ebola: What have the CDC and NIH actually been spending their money on
Excerpt: Moreover, in January, the Republican-controlled House actually passed legislation that increased CDC spending for 2014 by $567 million — $300 million more than was requested by President Obama. It’s not that the CDC hasn’t had money, it’s that the money has been spent on things that have little or nothing to do with the agency’s mission of protecting Americans from health threats.... The fund has received some $3 billion over the past five years from a dedicated stream of mandatory funding, yet only a little more than 6 percent of that went toward epidemiology, lab capacity, or programs to fight infectious diseases.

(Studies) Got All the Ebola Dollars, But Blame the GOP
Excerpt: For example, instead of studying Ebola, the National Institutes of Health were studying the propensity of lesbians to be fat....And the Centers for Disease Control spent its budget on gun violence studies on order of the President as part of his agenda to curtail the second amendment....Hey, and let’s not forget all the money the CDC spent to convince people to stop smoking and now we need tobacco to manufacture the drug to fight Ebola. (I found the headline offensive, but the info interesting. I have no problem with Gays. I do with ridiculous spending. ~Bob)

Hey Journalists! 15 Ways NIH and CDC Wasted Taxpayer Money
Excerpt: Many of these taxpayer-funded studies are a combination of absurd, like spending $181,406 getting Japanese quail high on cocaine, and downright offensive, like one project costing $544,188 studying how to convince young girls to get the HPV vaccine. .... By way of comparison, the combined budgets the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, FBI, DEA and Secret Service came to nearly $1 billion less than the NIH and CDC combined budgets. If NIH and CDC are still having trouble coming up with ways to fund their fight against Ebola, here is a list of 15 wasteful programs totaling $15,135,574,669.00 where they could have saved: (Bolding mine. List includes "healthy eating" propaganda, researchers in China, fat lesbians, drunken monkeys, gun control and cocaine's effect on sex lives of quail among other very important issues to the American public health systems. --Barb)

Obama Administration Will Institute Ebola Travel Restrictions … On Our Military
Excerpt: CNN reports, “In an unprecedented move to protect U.S. troops that might be exposed to Ebola, U.S. military commanders are being given the authority to quarantine troops for 21 days at a Defense Department facility where they will be monitored for signs of the disease and treated if they do contract the virus, a Defense Department memo explained.” This precaution is in line with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and World Health Organization protocols for Ebola, but stand in stark contrast with the Obama administration’s reluctance to institute the same precautions for civilians from western Africa countries currently experiencing the worst Ebola epidemic on record. White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters Wednesday that a travel ban is “not something that’s not on the table at this point.” (So, CIC orders troops to Hot Zone but if you get sick, you are SOL. Hey, you volunteered. 101st Airborne being trained to prevent infections per retired General interviewed on Fox today. CIC, wanting US troops faster, considering ordering up National Guard, taking people from the homes and jobs to send to Africa versus using those assigned for deployment but being trained --Barb)

Report: CDC Told Nurse Who Contracted Ebola She Could Board Plane with Low-Grade Fever. By Tony Lee
Excerpt: The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reportedly told Amber Joy Vinson, the second nurse at the Texas hospital that treated Thomas Eric Duncan to come down with Ebola, that it was okay for her to fly even after she told the CDC that she had a low-grade fever.

Top Doctor: CDC’s Ebola Safety Instructions Are Wrong, Could Lead To Contamination
Excerpt: CDC’s website instructions are “unacceptable” and could expose those who follow them to contamination, Reiner said.... “Follow these instructions from CDC website for removing gloves & you risk contamination,” Reiner added. “Not how to do it.”

Rep: CDC worried travel ban over Ebola would hurt African economies
Excerpt: A Republican lawmaker claims the real reason the Obama administration is opposing a travel ban for Ebola-stricken African countries is that U.S. officials are concerned about hurting their economies -- a dollars-and-cents reason, the lawmaker says, doesn't make much sense. Rep. Tim Murphy, R-Pa., whose House subcommittee held a high-profile hearing Thursday on the Ebola virus, told Fox News that Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Tom Frieden is the one who gave him that explanation. "He explained to me ... the concern was that these are fledgling democracies and if we put a travel ban that that may affect their economy and harm them," Murphy said.

Africa: ‘Border Closures Saved Us’…Someone Fwd This To Our Daft President
Excerpt: Good for them and bad for us if BHO insists that we keep flying in to Ebola death zones. Check this out…NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — Health officials battling the Ebola outbreak that has killed more than 4,500 people in West Africa have managed to limit its spread on the continent to five countries – and two of them appear to have snuffed out the disease.
The developments constitute a modest success in an otherwise bleak situation.

Dallas County weighs disaster declaration for Ebola fight
Excerpt: Dallas County commissioners plan to hold a special meeting on Thursday to weigh declaring a local state of disaster over the Ebola virus. ...The proposal says Dallas County "has the potential to suffer widespread or severe damage, injury, loss or threat of life resulting from the Ebola virus." The declaration could include public travel restrictions on medical personnel exposed to Ebola, according to County Judge Clay Jenkins.

NYC 911 dispatchers forbidden from saying ‘Ebola’ on the radio
Excerpt: "At no point shall a dispatcher transmit over the radio any message containing the word 'Ebola' or related terminology," according to the advisory, which was obtained by The Post. Dispatchers instead must use the code letters "F/T," as in Fever/Travel, to indicate that a 911 caller has a fever and a history of travel to West Africa. "Engine XXX, utilize Universal Precautions — you are responding to a Fever/Travel incident," dispatchers are now ordered to say. A source said the directive is meant to minimize fear of a citywide outbreak, since the emergency radio channels are closely monitored by civilian hobbyists and members of the media.

Obama’s spectacular incompetence turns deadly
Excerpt: President Obama, a short-term college professor and failed community organizer who became a mostly absentee state senator and then an all-but-invisible U.S. senator, has Petered out. Per the Peter Principle, he has risen to his level of incompetence — some would argue far beyond it. The president — and the president alone — let Ebola into America. He could have made one phone call (even on Saturday, when playing his 200th round of golf as president) and said one sentence to protect all Americans from the usually fatal disease: "No one from West Africa gets into the country."

Dallas lab worker quarantined aboard cruise ship, other passengers stranded aboard
Excerpt: The State Department did not confirm the location or operator of the ship the ship, but Belizean news reports identified it as the cruise ship Carnival Magic, and said it was being kept offshore after the island nation's government learned that a U.S. hospital worker on board may have been exposed to Ebola. ..."The government of Belize reassures the public that the passenger never set foot in Belize and while we remain in close contact with U.S. officials we have maintained the position that when even the smallest doubt remains, we will ensure the health and safety of the Belizean people," the government said in a press release. (Govt. of Belize protects its citizens better than the USA. What's in the Presidential oath? Oh, oaths don't mean anything. No logic with these exposed folks, either. They need a written notice, obviously, that says, "Stay home. Period." (However, even an MD who works for NBC could not do it.) --Barb)

Shock W.H.O. report: Ebola has 42-day incubation period, not 21 days!
http://www.naturalnews.com/047267_Ebola_outbreak_incubation_period_viral_transmission.html#ixzz3GLxmcbgG
Excerpt: A jaw-dropping report released by the World Health Organization on October 14, 2014 reveals that 1 in 20 Ebola infections has an incubation period longer than the 21 days which has been repeatedly claimed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.... 95% of confirmed cases have an incubation period in the range of 1 to 21 days; 98% have an incubation period that falls within the 1 to 42 day interval. [1]... Underscoring the importance of the 42-day rule, the WHO document openly states that a 42-day observation period with no new outbreaks is required before declaring the outbreak is under control. In the WHO's own words:

Ebola Victim Thomas Eric Duncan's 9-Day Treatment Cost Hospital Estimated $500K and He Had No Insurance
Excerpt: The nine-day treatment of Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan who died at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, Texas, Wednesday cost the hospital an estimated $500,000 and he had no insurance to cover the charges. The New Haven Register reported that the hospital is also unlikely to collect on the bill.

6-year-old Arizona boy's death latest suspected casualty of enterovirus D68
Excerpt: Experts aren’t sure why this wave of Enterovirus D68 has been more pronounced than in previous years. Health officials first took notice of this year’s wave in August, when hospitals in Kansas City and Chicago saw severe breathing illnesses in kids in numbers they never see at that time of year. ("Experts aren't sure." Story of the Regime. "See no evil. Hear no evil. Speak no evil." Sheryl Atkinson has been digging on "why." --Barb)

Race Card News

Excerpt: The Ferguson, Missouri protesters were out in force this past weekend. They vowed to cast a giant shadow on those honkies playing baseball in the NLCS. They promised to harass and disrupt foot traffic heading into the stadium. All that Black faux anger lost to greed. No way were the St. Louis Cardinals going to jeopardize some 40,000 $100 dollar tickets to see the Giants and Cardinals play baseball. It's all well and good if the thugs want to mob rob a QT, or even burn down the damn thing...but you don't mess with the big money boys. The well heeled Budweiser-fueled Cardinals put out a small army of security teams to make sure the game continued without disruption.

Black Males Are Viciously Beating People At Random At The University Of Illinois
Excerpt: Over the last two weekends, groups of black men have been roving the streets and beating people completely at random near the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. Police say the beatdowns are consistent with initiations by big-city street gangs — a phenomenon not typically seen on most Big 10 campuses....The attackers — described as black men, perhaps 25 years old, wearing dark clothes — rambled around an area in Champaign, tackling various innocent and unsuspecting people to the ground and kicking them in the head. (Where is DOJ on these racist hate crimes? Where is the WH representative? From IMDB website, "A Man For All Seasons" quotes: Sir Thomas More: Not so. Not so, Master Secretary. The maxim is "Qui tacet consentire": The maxim of the law is "Silence gives consent". If therefore you wish to construe what my silence betokened, you must construe that I consented, not that I denied. --Barb)

Obamacare/Government Healthcare News

Excerpt: I will be participating in Medicaid Health Plans of America’s annual conference in Washington, DC from October 26 to 28. So, I thought I’d prepare for it by reviewing the research on health outcomes for patients on Medicaid. What a tangled web! According to evidence cited by Forbes opinion editor and Manhattan Institute Senior Fellow Avik Roy, “[P]atients on Medicaid have the worst health outcomes of any insurance program in America ― far worse that those with private insurance and, strikingly, no better than those with no insurance at all.” On March 10, 2011, the Wall Street Journal published a column by Forbes contributor and American Enterprise Institute Resident Fellow Scott Gottlieb, MD, which concluded that “Medicaid coverage is worse than no coverage at all.” Yet, others resist these conclusions.

Cover Oregon investigates 18th security breach, a release of personal information
Excerpt: A Klamath Falls woman who applied for health coverage through Cover Oregon says the insurance exchange mailed her the personal information of other applicants.

More than 12,000 Oregonians could owe at tax time under Cover Oregon subsidy errors
Excerpt: More than 12,000 people who purchased policies through Cover Oregon could owe a combined $1.12 million at tax time because of errors in subsidized premiums issued by the health insurance exchange. (The Dem. governor who created this boondoggle, whose wife just admitted that her third marriage back when she was 30 was to an immigrant for cash, is up 7 points in the polls. They deserve him. ~Bob)

Did The Most Expensive Regulation Ever Just Arrive At The White House? By Chris Prandoni
Excerpt: Look out! Last week, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) just sent what could be the most expensive regulation ever to the Office of Management and Budget for final review. We don’t know what the ozone rule will look like, but an EPA advisory board is pushing for standards that would, under EPA’s own estimates, cost about $100 billion to comply with every year. Another study by the National Association of Manufacturers estimates the rule could cost $270 billion per year and would put millions of jobs at risk.

Rule Of Law: How Obama’s EPA Is Trying To Regulate Your Creek Beds And Ditches
Excerpt: “This proposed definition would result in millions of additional acres of land and water coming under federal jurisdiction and would create chaos and confusion for private citizens and landowners,” Attorney General Patrick Morrisey of West Virginia said." Texas AG and Republican nominee for Governor of Texas Greg Abbott wrote in August a pointed letter to the EPA and made clear that “[i]f the proposed rule is not withdrawn and is made final, then the State of Texas will have no choice but to challenge the rule in federal court — where it will surely be struck down as violating federal law, exceeding the agency’s statutory authority, and contravening the U.S. Constitution.” (If they control water, they control life and ability to live. New Mexico Watchdog reports that the enclosures have aggravated local ranchers, whose cattle used to graze on the now-restricted land.

Excerpt : "These terrorists want to take over the Middle East, from Syria to Jordan and Lebanon, and to re-establish the [historic] Islamic caliphate." "We could either fight it or explain it away," he continued. "The choice is in the world's hands, and it will bear the consequences."

In Iraq, ISIS threatens the Baghdad airport. Meanwhile, in the U.S, theatergoers get to watch people frantically scrambling to be on the last flight out of Vietnam. Not everyone is eager to relive America’s last great foreign policy disaster—even cinematically. But Rory Kennedy’s new film, Last Days in Vietnam, offers a stunning history lesson as it depicts the anguish at the end of a badly waged war. The documentary revolves around the last chaotic days before the fall of Saigon, the capital of South Vietnam. In 1973, under the Paris Peace Accords, the U.S. agreed to withdraw all its combat forces. In turn, North Vietnam agreed to “respect the independence” of South Vietnam. (Very smart article. --Del)

About Time: US confirms it's ditching Syria rebel group, building own ground force
Will they give back the arms we gave them? ~Bob. Excerpt: John Allen, the retired Marine general in charge of coordinating the U.S.-led coalition’s response to the Islamic State, confirmed Wednesday what Syrian rebel commanders have complained about for months: that the United States is ditching the old Free Syrian Army and building its own local ground force to use primarily in the fight against the Islamist extremists. “At this point, there is not formal coordination with the FSA,” Allen told reporters at the State Department.

ISIS in Jets for First Time, US Reportedly Trains Rebel Pilots. Iraqi pilots teaching ISIS to fly MiG's captured in Syria; reports indicate US training 'Middle Eastern' pilots in Arizona to bomb Syria.
Excerpt: The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights revealed on Friday that the brutal Islamic State (ISIS) terror group has begun training pilots on three captured fighter jets, relying on the knowledge of Iraqi pilots who have joined the group. Rami Abdul Rahman, director of the monitoring group, said witnesses in northern Syria have seen the group flying the three MiG 21 or MiG 23 model jets above the al-Jarrah airbase east of Aleppo, in the first instance of ISIS going airborne, reports Reuters.... The sources added that the training is taking place on the aging British BAC 167 Strikemaster training jet in the Barry M. Goldwater Air Force Range along the Mexican border in Arizona.

Britain: Muslim Rape Gangs Run Wild. By Robert Spencer, Jihad Watch.org
Except: 1,400 British non-Muslim children were gang-raped and brutalized by Muslims in the British city of Rotherham, in accord with the Qur’anic allowance for the sexual enslavement of infidel women that the Islamic State has pointed to in order to justify its exploitation of captive Yazidi and Christian women. But no airstrikes were called in Rotherham; rather, British officials there “described their nervousness about identifying the ethnic origins of perpetrators for fear of being thought as racist; others remembered clear direction from their managers not to do so.” And now four years of key and highly incriminating files have gone missing.

Did Someone Say 'Conquest'? By Burak Bekdil
Excerpt: Not learning from past mistakes, the Turks and their part-time allies across the Atlantic have now set out to train and equip "moderate" Islamists in Syria: The Americans hope the "moderates" will finish off their less moderate brethren, while the Turks hope that the new fighting will enforce bad Sunnis instead of bad Shiites in Damascus. Press reports say that thousands of moderates will specialize in ambush, bombing and subversion skills at a military base in Turkey, courtesy of the American taxpayer.

Fantastic Speech
If you have time, and want to hear what inspiring ideas sound like, I strongly recommend this speech. Wait until you get to the part about how to respond to Benghazi or Iran shooting at our drones. --Del

Security officials and tribal sources said at least 10 people were killed in clashes around the town of Radaa in Bayda province late on Tuesday. Saudi Arabia sentences reformist Shiite cleric to ‘crucifixion’
Excerpt: Raising fears of renewed sectarian tensions in the region, Saudi Arabia’s top court has sentenced a charismatic opposition leader to death for speaking out against the kingdom’s ruling family. Nimr Baqer al-Nimr, a reformist cleric, has repeatedly called for an end to corruption and discrimination against minorities. (Our moderate allies. ~Bob)

Excerpt: Few things are more abundantly attested in Islamic law than the permissibility of child marriage. Islamic tradition records that Muhammad’s favorite wife, Aisha, was six when Muhammad wedded her and nine when he consummated the marriage: ... Marrying young girls was not all that unusual for its time, but because in Islam Muhammad is the supreme example of conduct (cf. Qur’an 33:21), he is considered exemplary in this unto today. And so in April 2011, the Bangladesh Mufti Fazlul Haque Amini declared that those trying to pass a law banning child marriage in that country were putting Muhammad in a bad light: “Banning child marriage will cause challenging the marriage of the holy prophet of Islam, [putting] the moral character of the prophet into controversy and challenge.” He added a threat: “Islam permits child marriage and it will not be tolerated if any ruler will ever try to touch this issue in the name of giving more rights to women.” The Mufti said that 200,000 jihadists were ready to sacrifice their lives for any law restricting child marriage. Doubly damned as a Syrian and a Christian convert: "Tarek," a refugee in Lebanon waiting to be resettled in Canada, is being hunted by family because he has converted to Christianity
Excerpt: But he maintains his assumed identity in Lebanon because he has been told his father and stepbrothers are determined to kill him for becoming a Christian. “They are searching to cut my throat,” he says matter-of-factly. “I’ve been told they have hired someone to find me to get the mission accomplished.”

Excerpt: “Even if we accept everything else – what kind of religion allows the capturing of a Muslim woman, and on top of that, allows her to be sold to a Jew?!” Good question!
Anyway, this repulsive little imam demonstrates that Jew-hatred is not limited to Sunni Muslims, but is found among Shi’ites as well. After all, they read the same Qur’an that says: “You will surely find the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers to be the Jews…” (5:82) — a verse (along with other anti-Semitic passages in the Qur’an) that in practice tends to make all too many Muslims into the most intense of the people in animosity toward the Jews.

Excerpt: Yet the huge armies of the above four Muslim nations are watching the ISIS slaughter and refuse to end it. Has anyone asked why? Where are the 1.5 billion moderate Muslims to save the reputation of Islam and fellow Muslims? Is there even a moderate Muslim army that will not hesitate to kill ISIS beheading their way from city to city? Will Muslim armies fight the alleged bad Muslims? The answer is simple and I hope the West is ready for the truth. If Muslim governments go to war against ISIS, there is a good possibility that their armies will not kill ISIS but might actually join them against Arab governments. This is why: (Nonie Darwish, an ex-Muslim and daughter of a fedai (terrrorist) makes an interesting and plausible point: Arab countries and Turkey with huge, well-armed militaries readily use them against their own populations. But asking them to go after ISIS risks mass defections to the other side. Why? Jihad and shari`a is what they desire. Indeed that is what they have been taught from day one. Palestinians have a special gift for ignoring their own historical failures
I had occasion to argue with someone who claims that Israel should not exist because "the Jews stole their land." Here is the gist of my response. Palestinians have a special gift for ignoring their own historical failures. Had the Arabs accepted partition in 1947, Arabs would have been the majority in what became Israel as well as the vast majority in Judea, Samaria and Gaza. Your land was "stolen" because you warred against the party that accepted the partition deal. Had you not resolved to drive the Jews into the sea, could you, would you have been able to live in peace with a state containing a large number of Jews? Proof: While Israel has a 20% Arab minority enjoying full rights, virtually every last Jew has been expelled from every Arab country. Cordially, Larry Greenberg
