Don't eat meat

I came across this Aussie program, and it leads to a truly fantastic

video made by some teenage girl who seems to have an American accent. Just watch her little discussion of why you should not go to the store and buy a piece of meat to cook at home. And just think, in only a couple of years she'll be able to vote. (It's just one more "you can't make this crap up")

The Dangers of an Increasingly Online World

The Dangers of an Increasingly Online World

Excerpt: While there are exceptions, in most arguments on social media, the default setting is that everyone who disagrees with you is at best an idiot, or more likely, a threat to good people everywhere. Both social media and regular media offer an endless buffet table of examples that the people who think differently than you really are imbecilic, corrupt, malevolent, and a danger to others. If you’re on the left, and go to a site like Raw Story this morning, you can read headlines such as: “‘Pathetic liar’ Greg Abbott blasted for online misinformation: ‘Take down this lie,’” “‘Sad, pathetic and weak:’ Kevin McCarthy demolished on Morning Joe for his mealy-mouthed defense of Trump,” “‘Fascist’ Ron DeSantis burned to the ground by Florida reporter for his latest Trump-like move.’’ Notice that all of these stories amount to “Someone said something critical about a Republican lawmaker.” (Also, I had missed that last bit of news. Shouldn’t someone be arrested for arson if that headline is true?) If you’re on the right, you can read this morning that “Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein were once White House guests of former President Bill Clinton, “Michigan Democrat seen resisting DUI arrest, threatens to call Gov. Whitmer in bodycam footage,” and “Kamala Harris’ office stated ignorance of how volunteers, corporate sponsors chose her book for migrant kids.” There is always some new story to reassure you that the other side is irredeemably evil, and there’s no point in even trying to engage with them. After all, there’s a cultural war going on, or so we’re often told, not a mere cultural disagreement. A lot of morally debatable acts are justified in war that would not be justified in other circumstances. A lot of social-media algorithms are meant to promote posts with the highest level of “interactivity” — with no ability or desire to assess whether that interactivity is good or bad. Noncontroversial views do not generate interactivity; controversial ones do — which means that many social-media platforms inadvertently or deliberately set up a system that gives the biggest platform and widest audience to the most controversial and extreme viewpoints. [I seldom link to The Morning Jolt, though it’s now one of the minority of things National Review hasn’t limited access to. Today’s column by Jim Geraghty hits right between the eyes. Yes, we do need to back away a little. Once our perspective is lost, it’s difficult to get it back. Ron P.]

Here's What Data Says About The Myth Of "Racism" In Police Killings

Excerpt: After accounting for these and other factors, including averaged cultural differences in police departments, we found that black officers were at least as likely as their white peers to kill black suspects, but that black officers were more likely to kill unarmed blacks than were white officers.

The Courage of Our Convictions. How to fight critical race theory

Critical Race Theory explained... and what needs to be done about it

It has gone from a crackpot theory to a juggernaut of PC and 'woke' power taking over institutions all over, and using persecution and intimidation to force at least silence if not actual assent. It is seriously dangerous to the society, and the resistance must rise strongly and widely to counter it. It's going to be a long and messy fight, but it's an existential one. --Del

Six Seconds to Live

I am amazed that someone decided to make this video, and put the time, effort, and money into it. But I am deeply grateful that they did. A lot of people should see this, and understand what it is to really believe in service to the nation and your call to duty beyond your own life. --Del

Please watch and share as appropriate. It is a reflection of the training and discipline of our military personnel, exemplifying the Warrior Ethos and John 15:13. I doubt we will see this on major TV/media.

Higher Education Takes Aim at ‘Colonialist’ Music

There are still some conservative college professors. A distinct minority today, of course, almost an endangered species, but at least a few brave souls (with tenure) who speak out on occasion. Here's an excellent contribution from one still teaching at my old college. (Although he's not far from retirement and I don't know who will fill his shoes after that.) Excellent article about the latest deep dive into 'woke' insanity. --Del

NO MORE TESTS: WE SHOULD MEASURE BLACK KIDS ON THEIR "DESIRE TO KNOW." (St. Ibram, 2019)

So minority kids don't do as well on average in some schools as White kids?  And the answer the geniuses have come up with is to lower the bar for them to make things more "equitable"?  So now the "A" grade the White kid gets means something really different from the "A" grade the minority kid gets?  Sure, that's the way to make things better in society.

Ahh.... maybe the two real answers are more focused learning help for the kids who want it, and let reality be whatever it is for everyone else.  The letters on the page may be black ink on white paper, but they don't care what eyes are looking at them.  Reading skills are reading skills whether your ancestors came from Scandinavia, the UK, Spain, China, or Africa.

McWhorter is a super writer, and should be famous and asked to be giving lectures all over the country.

Knife fights are normal

Here's the quote from one of the BLM activists about the recent tragic case of a teenage girl going berserk with a knife and trying to stab two other girls.

“Teenagers have been having fights including fights involving knives for eons,” tweeted longtime activist Bree Newsome. “We do not need police to address these situations by showing up to the scene & using a weapon against one of the teenagers. Y’all need help. I mean that sincerely.”

Her other comments include the idea that "we don't need White police officers to show up to handle our children".  This is a perfect example of seeing everything solely through the prism of race, no matter what, in which anything a White person does is bad and innately racist.  If it had been a White girl stabbing other White girls and the officer who shot her was Black, how would the situation have been reported, what kind of reactions wouild we have seen?  If the officer didn't shoot her and she managed to kill the girl pressed up against the car, what would have been said then, that it was OK since girls having knife fights is just part of the community?  Somehow I don't think so.

But at least Twitter is full of very zingy retorts to this racist woman, and many of the retorts are from Black people.  So not everyone is crazy.

But too many people are.

Once again, Bill Maher does a nice job on the facts about the virus

Once again, Bill Maher does a nice job on the facts about the virus and

alarmism.  He does have the obligatory slams at Trump in there, including
(to my surprise, I thought he was smarter than this) the utterly false
claim that Trump told people to inject disinfectants, but the bulk of his
comments are really spot on, and his very sharp jabs at the Democrats for
being so badly misinformed are neat.  Enjoy.

Russian Hoax Prosecutor John Durham Issues Subpoena to ... "Brookings Institute"

Russian Hoax Prosecutor John Durham Issues Subpoena to ... "Brookings Institute"

Excerpt: The continued use of information from Danchenko has always been a huge “red-flag” problem in my review of the FBI’s conduct.  There was simply too much information known to the FBI by December 2016 and January 2017 to press forward with the investigation while continuing to rely on earlier judgments that there was some substance to the Russia Hoax allegations.  Nothing that the investigation was actually turning up — nothing that was later reported by the Mueller Special Counsel investigation or otherwise disclosed by Inspector General Horowitz’s report — has ever supported the FBI’s continued belief in the legitimacy of the “Russia Hoax” allegations such that the investigation should have been carried on after Pres. Trump took office. Maybe more than any other specific fact or set of facts, the information given to the FBI during the multi-day interview of Danchenko, combined with his “problematical” history that made practically worthless ANYTHING he said implicating anyone in subversive activity, made it improper for the FBI to push forward as it did when a “pause” and objective review of where the investigation stood and what they had learned would have likely caused it to have been shutdown. [Wow. Durham’s people are still making slow progress–but, it IS progress. The author speculates about where the info came from as there have been ZERO leads from Durham’s team, but the speculation seems valid to me. Ron P.]

Radicalized Political Ingratitude

Another nice review of why I'm glad to be living in a Red state. One that will probably survive as part of the New South when the SHTF at long last and the USA crumbles into separate sections. Stories like this keep indicating that barring some kind of miracle, the republic is doomed. --Del

Why violent crime surged after police across America retreated

So we need an explanation in USA Today as to why violent crime went up as policing activities decreased?  Really?

But it's a good article, just supplies facts about what happens when you cut back on police work and work hard at demoralzing and demotivating officers.  Of course some of us crazy old people did anticipate this, but hey, maybe that was just our Far Right bias showing itself?  It couldn't be that we actually have some real understanding of how things work, could it?  After all, so many really smart people with advanced degrees and so many politicians and activists said all this was a great idea.... how could they have been mistaken?  Oh well...

The real question is how do cities regain a level of control and get back to that quaint idea of law and order.  How are they going to recruit good people to go into law enforcement now?  I can only feel sorry for the people living in a lot of these cities, until they vote in some seriouis people who will shrug off the "social justice" priority and get back to keeping citizens safe in their homes, businesses, and on the street.

You Can’t Ignore Physics, Joe

 You Can’t Ignore Physics, Joe

Excerpt: Joe Biden is not all that different from Donald Trump in his propensity to just blurt out the first thing that pops into his mind, whether or not it’s true, whether or not it even sounds plausible, and whether or not what he’s describing violates the laws of physics. Yesterday, in another sales pitch for his infrastructure plan, Biden said, “. . . what we’re really doing is raising the bar on what we can imagine. Imagine a world where you and your family can travel coast to coast, without a single tank of gas, or on a high-speed train close to as fast as you can go across the country in a plane.” This is almost physically impossible, even if we make the most optimistic assessments about advances in rail technology. Commercial airliners usually travel 550 to 580 miles per hour.

The Media Tried to Smear Ron DeSantis. It Backfired | Opinion

When you see a column like this in Newsweek, not exactly a Right Wing publication, you can rejoice that every once in a while the truth does come out at least a little bit in the media.

In this case, what 60 Minutes and their reporter tried to do was so damn egregious and so blatantly obvious that no remotely fairminded person could ignore it.  Is all the media this biased?  No, not all, but most of the media is biased and we see that readily.

Most media articles, including in the NYTImes this morning, are about how "Jim Crow" the Georgia election law is.  Yet that it actually increases access to voting in terms of polling place time is ignored.  That in fact its provisions are still a good deal more open to voting than numerous other states, e.g. New Jersey, is ignored.  That it does not say people in line cannot be given water, it only says that partisan organizations cannot approach and distribute anything to people in line, which is very reasonable.  (If it were GOP activists handing out water and snacks, we'd have heard about it a long time ago in furious protests.)

I am proud to say that an old friend who lives in George and is very much a Democrat told me she orginally heard the whole "voter suppression" screaming, but being bored at home decided to actually look at the legislation.  Only to slowly realize it was not at all about voter suppression, and the claims were purely political propaganda.  It won't change how she votes at all, but she is upset at the duplicity and stupidity of what is being claimed.  (See... it is possible to be a Liberal and still abandon all reason.  Although it's unfortunately not the way a lot of people have gone.)

It will be interesting to see how things go in Georgia at the next election.

Antifa’s Destructive Return Could Have Staying Power

Antifa’s Destructive Return Could Have Staying Power

Excerpt: The Seattle Police Department saw a mass exodus of nearly 200 police officers in 2020 after a relentless public campaign by anti-police activists and like-minded City Council members to demean, demoralize, assault, and defund police. The trend of officer resignations and retirements continues in 2021, with the Seattle Police Department having its lowest number of patrol officers since the early 1990s. What’s worse, under an unofficial order, Seattle’s remaining police officers aren’t allowed to engage with Antifa, police sources say, even though a tighter grip on the group’s “direct action” would lessen the likelihood of vandalism.
