Random Thoughts for October, 2014

Random Thoughts for October, 2014
Robert A. Hall

This is the natural law that liberals can't deal with: All civilization is based on war. Every people that founded a great civilization had to fight to do so. Every great civilization has had to fight to protect itself from those who would plunder, oppress or change it in their barbarian image. A civilization that won't fight, perishes. Yes, there are countries in the west, say Sweden, that have small militaries and haven't fought in a long time (though they had their day). But they are protected by us and stronger powers as part of western civilization. How long would they maintain their freedom and civilization if they were alone in the world and facing Russia, or political Islam?

If you think Congress is totally useless, remember they stopped Obama from bombing Assad's Syrian forces in support of the Islamic State, the major opposition group, and the terrorists that we are now bombing. As I kept saying at the time, "There are no good guys in Syria."

If Hillary is the Dem nominee in 2016, I think every time she speaks there should be a group of young women with GOP signs wearing blue dresses.

Sung by criticism that playing golf and laughing after the Foley murder by ISIS was insensitive, President Obama has announced a National Day of Mourning for those killed by overseas contingency operations workplace violence. All the flags on the pins on his golf course will be black, and he'll donate ten dollars from every hole where he doesn't make par to wounded vets.

Liberal are hard to understand. You can't waterboard terrorists to find out where, when and by who (whom?) the next slaughter of innocents is planned, but you can use a drone to turn them, their families and innocent bystanders with bad timing into red goo. Which is nice, but you get no intel. Obama killing innocent civilians during drone strikes on terrorists is unfortunate, but the fault of the terrorists. Israel killing innocent civilians during air strikes on terrorists is the worst crime since the holocaust.

I think there's a fair chance that there was racism in the Ferguson, MO Police Department. Police deal with the lowlife underclass in our society, and in that location, there are likely to be black, though they exist in all areas and all ethnic heritages. Those who tend to simplistic explanations will attribute it to race (when in my view it's culture. And in Britain, the low life underclass are native white English folks.). But I'm sure there's a 100% chance that the DOJ investigation will find racism in the FPD, and it will very likely be over-sold. They have to find it or have egg on Holder's and Obama's faces. They won't allow that.

You can take a few minutes to vote in November. Or you can take several extra hours a week to work to make enough to pay the higher taxes, higher energy costs and higher prices if the big government statists win.

In 2012, Obama famously bragged that he had "Al Qaeda on the run." Looking at the world, it seems to me that in the past five years of Obama, the Islamist militants have civilization on the run.

It looks like The First Hope and Change Brigade, led by General Barack "No-Strategy" Obama, is all that stands between us and ISIS. Luckily, the brigade has a Heavy Twitter Sign Company, commanded by Capt. Michelle "Out-to-Lunch" Obama in case things get dicey.

The majority of Americans disagree with Obama on the Keystone pipeline, Amnesty for illegals, Obamacare, late term abortions and his foreign policy, among many other thing. But none of that matters to the Progressive Elites, who hold average Americans in contempt despite their talk of being for the little guy. The great unwashed are ignorant folks clinging to God and Guns. They must be educated in what to think by the liberal media and coerced to do those things and bear those policies that the Elites believe are good for the country (if not themselves). It is the argument of statists everywhere, from Stalin to Hitler to Mao to dictators, emperors and kings. It's funny how well the Progressive Elites do while helping the benighted common people.

Liberals went nuts over Burger King moving to Canada because the US Corporate Tax Rate is the highest in the world. They called it "unpatriotic." But they were silent when Al Gore tried to get his TV sale deal to fossil-fuel-rich Al Jazeera (AKA "The Terrorist Network") completed by for January 1, when higher taxes that he supported kicked in. Hypocrites.

They asked Obama when he was going to secure the border, and he said, "MoƱana."

From my friend, George: "I saw a piece that said if you had privilege (i.e., white male) you should keep quiet about the habits and practices of the terminally poor. Except that I'm not asking you for help and perhaps my good practices keep me privileged...while your bad practices keep you poor. Maybe I'll keep my money and advice."

If people keep comparing Obama, Kerry and Hillary Clinton to the Three Stooges, I think the Stooges should sue.

The progressive European countries that bent over backwards to welcome Muslims and tolerate anti-social values by a large segment of them are going to pay a terrible price. Not that we will escape the costs.

I'm okay with limiting political speech to what is politically correct--as long as I get to decide what is politically correct for everyone. Why is anyone else's opinion on PC better than mine?

The more theories on modern education that have sprung from liberal academia to percolate through society, and the more money we have spent on schools over the last 50 years, the worse educated our kids have become.

What's happening in the world and in America is not the result of bad luck. It's the result of bad policy.

The great military science fiction writer, LtCol Tom Kratman, USA (Ret) is a reader of my blog. After I posted about my health improvement, he wrote, "You're going to outlive me, you know." I replied that I was trying to outlive everybody. He responded, "Good plan, but hard to implement." I think that's military history in a nut shell... See his Amazon page: http://www.amazon.com/Tom-Kratman/e/B001IXNZFA/ref=sr_tc_2_0?qid=1410729290&sr=8-2-ent

In ten years, Obama's presidency will be described as "disappointing." By any liberals who survive the collapse.

Have you heard about iSIS? It's Apple's new device to keep track of your beheading, stoning, sex slaves and child-rape lists.

I think you could make a lot of money with this book: Is a nine-Year-Old Right For You? The Muslim's guide to taking a fourth wife that emulates Mohammad (PBUH).

Future historians--if there are any future historians in the hunter-gatherer-raider world I fear is coming-- will find the Obama scandals showed "not a smidgen" of integrity on the part of the administration.

If leaders were dominos, Obama would be the double blank. (Yes, I swiped the line from P. G. Wodehouse.)

In an effort to promote tolerance, they are making a movie about marriage in the Muslim World. Entitled Close Encounters of the Third Grade, it depicts Mohammad's marriage to his youngest wife when she was six (but not consummated until she was nine). This is from the strongest of the sacred Hadith. Since Mohammad is considered the perfect example of conduct for Muslims today, it explains child marriage.

Some days just seem to evaporate.

I don't think Obama could lead the Vienna Boy's Choir in "Silent Night."

If God listens to some of the singing in church (for example, mine), I bet he tells Saint Peter, "Hide the harps when that one shows up."

Some professional writers who post stories for the world to see have either never heard of spell check or are too lazy to use it.

The last refuge of a scoundrel isn't patriotism. It's "He did it too," or "Everybody does it."

The 1960s are alive and well in Madison, WI. On my way to the VA for rehab recently, I was behind a car with a "Carter/Mondale" bumper sticker and an "Impeach Nixon" one. Nothing more recent. I pulled ahead so he could read my Marine and political bumper stickers.

It was nice of Al Rich-Off-Oil-Money Gore and the Global Warming Alarmists to warn us after Hurricane Katarina that because of global warming, we faced numerous increasingly-sever hurricanes in the coming years. Since all their predictions have been wrong so far, that pretty much guaranteed the mild hurricane seasons we have had since then.

It's a free country. You have complete freedom on birth control, healthcare, schools, energy, guns and many other thing to choose what the liberal elites permit you to choose.

From Marine Vet Dennis Payne: "It's amazing that someone can be an ass without any education--they just learn it on their own!"

The war correspondent or military historian who writes about war without respect and reverence for the common soldier is in the wrong profession.

I wonder if, when you die, you find all the socks lost in the dryer waiting for you on the other side?

This world is not going to make any progress until we stop perpetuating the belief that ''paper'' beats ''rock.'' (Wish I'd thought of this one. ~Bob)

I get the feeling that Obama should have called his second autobiography, The Rapacity of Dope.

Contrary to popular opinion, the "War on Poverty" has reduced poverty...among government bureaucrats and private agencies that provide services to the ""poor" on government contract.

It's true that hard work may not get you ahead--but it has a far better record than indolence.

The liberal PC police have noticed that the Army doesn't have black officers in proportion to blacks in the population. (Kind of like the shortage of whites, Asian and Hispanics in the NBA These are the same liberals who support black inner-city culture, brought up from the south where they acquired it from white rednecks, as equally valid and racist to question. You know, the culture that dismisses education as "acting white." Education, of course, is a pre-requisite for becoming an officer. So far.

Few things are as moving as being lectured on your desperate need to sacrifice to reduce your carbon footprint by a wealthy celebrity who flew in on his private jet for the occasion.

I surely hope that nothing happens to Michele. If Barack has a tee-time, they'd have to delay the funeral. Bad optics you know.

Obama has bombed or ordered drone strikes in seven countries. Would it be higher or lower if they had not given him the Nobel Peace Prize before he did anything?

Chelsea Clinton had a baby daughter. I wonder if one day she'll be a White House Intern?

Hope for the IRS. Matthew 21:31: Jesus said to them, “Amen, I say to you, tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God before you.

We need to say it plainly. Bringing a child into the world that you cannot support is child abuse. Period.

Britnye's tuxedo cat, Tom, lives with us. He's a very sweet kitty who almost checked out when I had my lung transplant last December, and is worth the exorbitant vet bills. (He's on Obamacare now, so all good.) He loves cat treats and milk, so I tended to give him treats and a small dish when I went into the kitchen to do my morning or evening medial routines. He quickly caught on, and now sits waiting on the counter for me. Thus a gift becomes a "right."

Though I'm doing well, at 68 I know most of my life is over, even if I get by the lung transplant challenges. Death comes to all men. I hope that, whenever it finds me, it will find me on the firing parapet, still putting out rounds as best I can to defend the Republic against all enemies, foreign and domestic. I have friends who say, "Why bother--it's hopeless. Enjoy what we have and don't waste your last years trying to save the world." They may be right. But "quit" isn't on the curriculum at Parris Island. I don't know how.

What's worse than a progressive/socialist/communist/statist grubbing after power? One in power.

When someone says "The Constitution is a living document," they are saying, "The Constitution says just what I think it should say at any given time."

Today's interesting news, comment and graphics

Update

Correction: In my review in my last post of Pride and Discipline, I misstated that recruit attrition had increased on Col. Myers' watch. I meant decreased. My bad. Bends and thrusts for me, many, many of them. Ready begin!

Haven't done a health update lately. Things on a steady keel. Slow progress. Had allergy attacks on Thursday--Friday, and missed rehab on Friday. But I went to the Y with Bonnie Saturday and made it all up. They dropped my FEV numbers with lots of mucus and coughing, but my O2 sats stayed very good. ~Bob

Letter to the Editor: Madison VA hospital care is good -- Robert A. Hall

General News and Comment

Reminder: Remember when Holder said no president had been attacked like Obama has?

US public pension gap at least $2 trillion: Moody's
Excerpt: The U.S. public pension gap has tripled to at least $2 trillion in less than a decade, Moody's Investors Service said in a report on Thursday. Moody's measured the unfunded liabilities for the 25 biggest public retirement systems between 2004 and 2012. The total future shortfall is more than half the size of the $3.7 trillion municipal bond market, which comprises all the outstanding debt issued by U.S. states and cities. (One of the factors cited in The Coming Collapse of the American Republic: And what you can do to prevent it. By Robert A. Hall

Bridgeport State Rep. Christina Ayala arrested on 19 voting fraud charges
Excerpt: HARTFORD >> State Rep. Christina “Tita” Ayala, D-Bridgeport, was arrested Friday on 19 voting fraud charges. Ayala, 31, is accused of voting in local and state elections in districts she did not live, the Chief State’s Attorney’s Office said in a press release. (Must be bogus. My liberal friends assure me that voter fraud is a GOP myth to keep minorities from voting. ~Bob)

Obama Compares His Actions to Washington, Lincoln, FDR
Excerpt: “This is what happens at the end of wars,” President Barack Obama boasted Tuesday when he was asked about swapping American Army Sgt. Deserter for five vicious Taliban terrorists. "That was true for George Washington... That was true for Abraham Lincoln and that was true for FDR. That’s been true of every combat situation, that at some point, you make sure that you try to get your folks back... And that’s the right thing to do.” Really? That statement blatantly demonstrates that the most powerful man in the World and two term President of the United States lacks even a grade school level of knowledge of American History; specifically, history as it relates to three of our most famous Presidents ... (The article is a beautiful example of how ignorant our President, plus his entire corps of speechwriters and advisors, are. It's utterly depressing to realize this man and his team are in charge of our nation, and we elected him THE SECOND TIME. Some days I wonder if we are just doomed. --Del. Any day you don't wonder, Del, call me and I'll set you straight. ~Bob)

Unions, Internet Giants Plan To Revolutionize Voting. Want elections by smart phone 'just a click away.' By Aaron Klein
Excerpt: The AFL-CIO union has teamed up with an online voter advocacy group funded by Internet giants and left-wing billionaire George Soros in a new online voter registration drive, WND has found. The People’s World, a news website associated with the Communist Party USA, reported last week that the “voter registration” plan is “just a click away.” Reports the magazine: “The AFL-CIO has teamed up with TurboVote to make voting easy for you and for your friends and family. Not only can you register or update your registration, but TurboVote will help you with absentee ballots, vote-by-mail information, finding your polling place and even sending reminders by email and text so you won’t forget to vote.” (I was a member of the Massachusetts' Legislatures election Laws Committee. The Dems figured I could do no harm as the reform bills I was pushing weren't going anywhere. My first election, every city and town used paper ballots. Of course, people can screw up anything--some wrote angry messages to the government on the ballot as though the volunteer counting them cared. I won the election by 9 votes, but the recount by 126, thankfully--or the senate might have tossed ten o my votes and seated the incumbent Dem. The Commonwealth was switching over to machines. The head of the states elections department, a man of decades of service making sure that elections were as fair and honest as possible, told me that he was opposed to machine voting. "There is no machine made that cannot be fixed. With paper, at least you have a record." Internet voting will make your vote as secure as your credit card at Target or your personal information at healthcare.gov. ~Bob)

Hong Kong: Protesters defiant amid stand-off
Excerpt: Tens of thousands of pro-democracy protesters are blocking Hong Kong's streets, shutting down its business hub and ignoring appeals to leave. The demonstrations have spread to other areas including a shopping district and a residential area. Riot police withdrew on Monday after overnight clashes in which they used batons and fired volleys of tear gas to try to disperse the crowds.

A Turning Point in the Fight for Hong Kong. Beijing remains unlikely to cave to pro-democracy protesters' demands, but it is now losing hearts and minds. By Rachel Lu
Excerpt: Future generations may well commemorate Sept. 28, 2014 in the history of Hong Kong as the day when the famously apolitical city turned unmistakably political. Tens of thousands of protesters, calling for "true democracy" -- that is, no Beijing-led nomination process in the planned 2017 election for the city's chief executive, its top government official -- confronted the police in the heart of Hong Kong.

Vote-Buying: Obamaphone use grew 100-fold in 3 years in Md. to twice the number eligible
Excerpt: Six-hundred-and-forty-five thousand Maryland residents had so-called Obamaphones in 2012 — one hundred times as many people as there were in 2009, and double the number in that state who are supposed to be eligible for the program based on their income. The program, officially called Lifeline, is run by the Federal Communications Commission and imposes hefty fees on every paying customer to give free phone service to low-income Americans. The profits to telecom companies from the free, government-provided phone service are so great that in Nebraska alone, 51 corporations, many of them who are not even traditional phone companies building infrastructure and attracting paying subscribers, fought for a piece of the pie.

Obama Bans Landmine Use Against Military Leaders’ Advice. Administration begins destroying stockpiles despite warnings. By Adam Kredo
Excerpt: The Obama administration has banned the U.S. military from using anti-personnel landmines in a unilateral decision that goes against warnings from top military leaders and many in Congress. The administration stated in a series of announcements this week that landmines will no longer be used and that the Defense Department would begin destroying stockpiles of the devices, which have historically been used to protect U.S. forces from enemies in warzones. (Our enemies, of course, can still use them. Another PC decision that will kill American troops. ~Bob)

Race Card News

Al Sharpton Empowered. Eric Holder’s legacy: Enabling Sharpton’s “I have a scheme” civil-rights agenda By John Fund & Hans von Spakovsky
Excerpt: Even some of his supporters agree he’s been confrontational and polarizing. Juan Williams of Fox News rails against anti-Holder “scandalmongers” but then admits “the Justice Department has devolved into the heart of Washington darkness, the absolute pit of modern political polarization in my lifetime.” One reason for that polarization is that, thanks to direct support from Holder and President Obama himself, the Reverend Al Sharpton has now become the nation’s leading African-American civil-rights leader. ... Al Sharpton has never apologized to Steven Pagones, the assistant district attorney he falsely accused of raping Tawana Brawley, a black teenager, in 1987. (No white leader, without the media's conspiracy of silence, would have survived something as damming as Sharpton's Tawana Brawley scandal. ~Bob)

12 black thugs attack, beat up 6 month pregnant white woman – national media silent
Excerpt: Remember Sanford, Florida? Ground Zero of the Trayvon Martin case? I bet you didn’t hear about 12 black thugs beating up their white neighbors, including Ashley Flournoy who was six months pregnant. (It's only a hate crime if the victims are black and the perps are white. ~Bob)

Shock: Black Babies Comprise 78% of Abortions in Mississippi
Excerpt: Recall that abortion disproportionately impacts the African American community. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that black Americans had a staggering 42% of all abortions in America in 2008 (the most recent year for which abortion data is available) yet according to the Census Bureau, African Americans composed only 12.6 percent of the total population. (If Planned Parenthood was a Republican organization, liberals would call this genocide. How about billboards: "Support Planned Parenthood: They keep the welfare rolls down! ~Bob)

Older but important: The Lie Behind the Lynch Mob. By John Perazzo
Excerpt: Meanwhile, the trend for African Americans was moving in precisely the opposite direction: In 1978, black suspects were 49% of those killed by police. By 1988, that figure had fallen to 39%. And ten years after that, it stood at 35%. Most cases where police killed suspects during 1976-98 were same-race incidents: When W&H officers were the killers, the suspects were usually W&H (63%). And when black officers were the killers, the suspects were usually black (81%).

i condone police killings. bc Revolutions have always required casualties. #ferguson bust back young bucks

Interesting: Ferguson from a police perspective
Excerpt: As a former law enforcement officer with some executive as well as street experience involving shootings and civil unrest, I have been appalled by how this case has evolved. I have seen errors made before, but this is wrong from just about every direction possible. From experience I can pretty well assume how this thing started, but that would be unfair for me to interject my hunches without factual backup.

Obamacare/Government Healthcare News

The Bungling of Bundled Payments. By Sally Pipes
Excerpt: Obamacare’s two chief goals were to cut the number of uninsured and reduce the cost of health care. At least one of the law’s primary ways of fulfilling the latter goal appears to be failing. The RAND Corporation recently examined a pilot effort by several California hospitals to replace their conventional fee-for-service model with “bundled payments.” Rather than pay for all the individual components and procedures that go into a knee replacement, for example, insurers just remit one lump sum for the entire episode of care. The initiative started in 2010. Four years later, the results are not promising. Indeed, as the RAND researchers reported, “The pilot did not succeed.”

Mexican Cartel Beat Texan To Death After Kidnapping And Torturing Him
Excerpt: An American citizen was beaten to death by drug cartel members while another barely managed to survive the kidnapping and torture just south of the Texas border.

Teens who crossed US-Mexico border alone entering schools
Excerpt: Some can barely read or write in their native language. U.S. schools are now dealing with the fallout from the dramatic spike in the number of children and teenagers who crossed into the United States unaccompanied by family; the Supreme Court has ruled that they have an obligation to educate all students regardless of their immigration status.... Large numbers of these students have moved to metropolitan areas such as Washington, D.C., Miami and Houston, but also to communities of all sizes in nearly every state, according to federal data. (Gee, I thought they weren't revealing where they dumped them....to be someone else's "legal" problem. That's ironic. --Barb)

"You're Greener than Gore" News

Why do those screaming the loudest about rising ocean levels keep buying mansions on the "doomed" coastlines?

Coming to your electric bill: Germany's Coal Binge
Excerpt: The German shift to renewable power sources that started in 2000 has brought the green share of German electricity up to around 25%. But the rest of the energy mix has become more heavily concentrated on coal, which now accounts for some 45% of power generation and growing, according to the Wall Street Journal. Germany's feed-in tariff, which requires distributors to buy electricity from green generators at fixed prices before buying from other sources, was part of Germany's strategy to intervene in the market. Germans pay for market distortions, paying about $129 billion extra on electricity bills since 200. The government estimates that these market distortions could cost the taxpayer 1 trillion Euros by 2040. This intervention tried to generate more use of green energy, but ended up having the opposite effect. The tariff, for example, deprived generators of revenue and made it harder for them to forecast demand. The more attractive option was to favor cheap coal plants whenever renewables didn't deliver as promised.

Important: Earth-Friendly Energy Is Anything But
Excerpt: Environmentalists worship solar energy and wind power as Earth-friendly answers to their ecological prayers. Tortoises, bats, butterflies, and bald eagles beg to differ, says Deroy Murdock, media fellow with the Hoover Institution. Consider the Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System in California's Mojave Desert. It features 300,000 mirrors that focus sunlight on three 40-story towers of power. Inside, 900-degree temperatures yield steam, propel turbines, and generate electricity for 140,000 homes. Ivanpah's environmental toll is stunning: BrightSource Energy, the project's owner, could have rehabilitated a brownfield, an abandoned commercial site, or a decommissioned military base. Instead, BrightSource developed 5.5 square miles of virgin desert. Tortoises native to that area became refugees once BrightSource relocated them en masse. Kit-fox dens were flattened during construction. Monarch butterflies and birds should avoid Ivanpah at all costs. Those who traverse its highly concentrated sunbeams often ignite. Center for Biological Diversity ecologist K. Shawn Smallwood told the California Energy Commission last July that Ivanpah will roast an estimated 28,380 birds annually. (When environmentalists sacrificed millions of third world kids to Malaria by banning DDT, birds were sacred. Now green energy is sacred, tough for the birds. ~Bob)

Excerpt: He was not crazy but a blunt-spoken realist warrior. And American gullibility soon substantiated.

Islamic Terror Attacks in the last 30 days
The list I forwarded was clipped. This the full list is her. ~Bob

Worth Reading: Why Obama Can’t Say His Spies Underestimated ISIS
Excerpt: Reached by The Daily Beast after Obama’s interview aired, one former senior Pentagon official who worked closely on the threat posed by Sunni jihadists in Syria and Iraq was flabbergasted. “Either the president doesn’t read the intelligence he’s getting or he’s bullshitting,” the former official said. ... Still, other senior intelligence officials have been warning about ISIS for months. In prepared testimony before the annual House and Senate intelligence committees’ threat hearings in January and February, Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, the recently departed director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, said the group would likely make a grab for land before the end of the year. (Doesn't read the intel or BSing? Likely both. ~Bob. Would the United States and other free nations be better or worse off with terrorists like Osama bin Laden, Ayman al-Zawahiri and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi running Iraq? And would the United States be more or less safe with Iraq ruled by extremists intent on its destruction? A precipitous withdrawal from Iraq would be a victory for the terrorists, an invitation to further the violence against free nations and a terrible blow to the future security of the United States of America. --Vice President Cheney, November 21, 2005:)

Obama: We underestimated Islamic State extremists
Excerpt: Asked if his administration had overestimated the Iraq army's ability to fight ISIS, Obama answered, "That's true. That's absolutely true.” (ISIS terrorists are fighting for Allah. Iraq's troops are fighting for a pay check. ~Bob)

Obama Throws Intelligence Under the Bus. From The Patriot Post
The U.S. intelligence community is now sporting the tread marks of the Obama-Mobile after the commander in chief said they "underestimated" the rise of the Islamic State. In a CBS "60 Minutes" interview, Barack Obama said it's "absolutely true" that U.S. intelligence "underestimated what had been taking place in Syria." He admitted al-Qaida in Iraq "went back underground" until chaos gave them a chance to "reconstitute themselves" -- and we missed it. This blame game is yet another pathetic political dodge by the president. He is the one who repeated the 2012 campaign fairytale that al-Qaida was "decimated," despite the large intelligence haul from the bin Laden raid indicating otherwise. He is the one essentially seeking a mulligan on his failed policy of fleeing Iraq. Yet the pathological narcissist in the Oval Office is telling us it's really the fault of U.S. intelligence. The buck stops, er, over there.

Official: White House aware of ISIS threat for over a year
18 months he had info but GOLF more important than US security briefings. He WANTS this. Throwing US intelligence under the bus? You can keep your doctor, your insurance deductible is lower, butter is cheap at $5.28 a pound now, no inflation. If you believe anything out of this guy's mouth, you deserve what you don't get. --Barb.

Intel Chief Blasts Obama. By Stephen F. Hayes
Excerpt: As the world watches the strengthening of global jihadist movements – from ISIS to al Qaeda to dozens of affiliated and like-minded groups – one of those inside the U.S. government who was most vocal about the growing threats is leaving his position. General Michael Flynn served as head of the Defense Intelligence Agency from July 2012 until last week. Throughout his tenure he challenged the Obama administration’s hopeful and inaccurate narrative about the war against al Qaeda and jihadists – pushback that doubtless contributed to his early departure from the agency. Flynn isn’t leaving quietly.

Nuclear Power Play? Iran signals interest in trade-off for ISIS help
Excerpt: The Iranian government appears to be steadily leveraging the Islamic State crisis by dangling the possibility of cooperation against the terror group in exchange for a favorable deal on its nuclear program -- despite the Obama administration's insistence that the issues are not linked. (They really think Obama is dumb. let's hope not this dumb. ~Bob)

Video: Will bankers not 'boots on the ground' beat ISIS?
A very interesting discussion about the finances of ISIS and whether that's a really important vulnerability. Personally, I'm with Ben Stein on this, yeah, do every bit on the banking thing you can, find out who's buying the pirated oil and come down on them, come down on every bank that is handling their money, all that is great. But yes, they have enough millions of bucks already to keep themselves going very nicely for a very long time, almost indefinitely. And we'll never stop the flow from Muslim "charities" to them, enough for them to buy bullets and RPGs and food for the troops. If things get rough on the people who live under their control, they won't care. So the main focus has to be how to really destroy them, and that means a lot more than cutting off a lot of their money. Ben Stein is just always both highly intelligent and highly practical. --Del

Free Syrian Army Brigade Armed w/Missiles by Obama Objects to Strikes on Al Qaeda. By Daniel Greenfield
Excerpt: Even rebels who supported the strikes on the Islamic State criticized the targeting of the Nusra Front, which they consider a loyal partner in the battle against Mr. Assad. “It is not the right time to target the Nusra Front,” said Lt. Col. Fares al-Bayyoush, whose rebel group has received support from the United States and its allies.

Military analyst: ISIS 'will never be destroyed'
Excerpt: Retired U.S. Navy Capt. Chuck Nash says radical groups like the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, can never be completely eradicated, and any meaningful degrading of the terrorist army will only come with competent ground forces working in tandem with powerful airstrikes like Americans saw Monday night. ... “It will never be destroyed. The violent element is in the DNA of Islam. It’s in their documents. Moderates and radicals read the same documents and draw their inspiration from the same religious texts. It will never disappear. It can only be degraded,” said Nash, who is also a military analyst for the Fox News Channel.

Excerpt: 1. As significant as the strikes on IS/ISIS are the attacks against al-Qaeda franchises that have not broken away from original al-Qaeda. I’ve been arguing for a few weeks (e.g., here) that IS/ISIS is not even half of the equation — that al-Qaeda is also more powerful than it was prior to 9/11/01. Shortly after that, we got congressional from Obama’s national-security team and other administration statements to the effect that al-Qaeda could be a more imminent threat to attack the US (even if IS/ISIS is currently the more powerful of the two networks in Iraq/Syria). 2. If the administration is accurately stating that the al-Qaeda threat is imminent, the strategic importance of hitting al-Qaeda targets is obvious. But it is also worth considering the significant legal considerations.

Important: Libya Pleads for Help in Battling Terror Groups. By Mohammed Daraghmeh
Excerpt: Libya pleaded with the international community on Saturday to help it stand up to Islamist-allied militias that have taken control of government buildings, saying the United Nations must impose sanctions or risk a terrorist expansion throughout North Africa. Ageila Saleh Eissa, president of the House of Representatives, addressed the annual U.N. General Assembly of world leaders after weeks of fighting among rival militias in Libya forced nearly a quarter-million people to flee their homes. (Hey, Barack, how's that non-Congress-authorized, lead-from-behind war to bring Arab Spring Democracy to Libya working out for you? ~Bob)

Allen West: 'Islamist Sympathizer' Obama Blind To Radical Ideology Of Jihadists
Excerpt: On Breitbart News Sunday, former Rep. Col. Allen West (R-FL) said last week's Oklahoma beheading was a "jihadist attack" and not an act of "workplace violence," and he warned that President Barack Obama's refusal to fully appreciate the dangers of radical Islam will make Americans less safe at home and abroad. Speaking to host and Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon on Sirius XM Patriot channel 125, West said Obama refuses to acknowledge the "radical Islamist" threat, instead asserting that "ISIS is not Islamic" and insisting that "Islam teaches peace." West said it was insidious that administration officials have met with radical Islamists, and he stated that "the enemy is here."

Interesting picture of the "suspect.: Okla. beheading suspect arrested, linked to imam who raised money with al Qaeda leader
Excerpt: An imam with known ties to former Al Qaeda mastermind Anwar al Awlaki appears to have influenced the life of Alton Nolen, the former Vaughan Foods employee accused of beheading a woman in Moore, Oklahoma on Thursday. FBI documents show that Suhaib Webb, who was once the leader of the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City, had ties to the radical American cleric al Awlaki, Breitbart reported Saturday. Al Awlaki was killed in a U.S. drone strike in Yemen in September, 2011.

Allah Made Me Do It. By Daniel Greenfield
Excerpt: Stop me if you’ve heard this story before. A Muslim convert who recently became very religious beheads a woman while reportedly shouting Islamic phrases. The authorities rush to convince everyone in sight that it has nothing to do with Islam.

Excerpt: A fired Oklahoma City nursing home employee was arrested Friday after a co-worker reported he threatened to cut her head off. ... She said Muriithi identified himself as a Muslim and said he “represented ISIS and that ISIS kills Christians,” the detective told a judge in the affidavit. The two had not worked together before.

Village Forced to Raise Taxes After Muslim Refugee Family Consumes 1/3 of Budget. By Daniel Greenfield
Excerpt: A village of just 1,000 residents in Switzerland has been forced to raise taxes because an African refugee and her seven children cost the local authority $65,000 in benefits every month. Hagenbuch, in the Swiss canton of Zurich, is understood to be spending close to a third of its total annual budget on the family after they arrived from Eritrea in East Africa three years ago.

Man shouts 'Jews, Jews, Jews,' fires on group walking near private school
Excerpt: “The weapon appeared to be some type of BB or air gun. The driver yelled ‘Jews, Jews, Jews’ at the victims and fired the weapon in their direction.” ... The suspect is described as a white male, brown hair, dark complexion, possibly of Middle Eastern descent.

Thanks To Islam & Political Correctness, Beheading Has Hit the Heartland. By Doug Giles
Excerpt: Last week I penned a column titled, “THANKS TO ISLAM: ‘Beheading’ Has Been Re-introduced Into Our Discussions”. In the column that I penned seven days ago I put forth this warning: “For those of us in the U.S. still skipping around the maypole with rose-colored glasses on, thinking beheadings will never happen in our neck of the woods — I’m sure that’s what the UK thought prior to Lee Rigby’s beheading last year.”

Excerpt: Today the US launched its first drone strike in Pakistan's Taliban-controlled tribal agency of South Waziristan in more than a year. The CIA-operated remotely piloted Predators or Reapers struck a compound in the town of Wana in South Waziristan, Pakistani officials and Taliban fighters told Dawn. "Two Arab militants and two of their local allies" were killed in the airstrike, the officials and Taliban fighters said.

Worth Reading: The Islamic State . . . of Saudi Arabia. Between beheadings, they’ll help train the “moderate” Syrian rebels. By Andrew C. McCarthy
Excerpt: And let’s not kid ourselves: We know there will be more beheadings in the coming weeks, and on into the future. Apostates from Islam, homosexuals, and perceived blasphemers will face brutal persecution and death. Women will be treated as chattel and face institutionalized abuse. Islamic-supremacist ideology, with its incitements to jihad and conquest, with its virulent hostility toward the West, will spew from the mosques onto the streets. We will continue to be confronted by a country-sized breeding ground for anti-American terrorists. The Islamic State? Sorry, no. I was talking about . . . our “moderate Islamist” ally, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Excerpt: Arabic media outlets and Twitter accounts linked to al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) announced the death an AQAP leader named Abd al Aziz al Omari as result of a US drone strike in al Jawf on September 26. Al Omari, a Saudi who went by a variety of noms-de-guerre including Muslim al Azdi, Abu Omar al Kholani, and Abu Muslim al Kholani, is especially remembered for his role in running well-known Twitter accounts that are critical of the American drone program in Yemen.

Excerpt: Detective Terry McGhee tracked down the top terrorist brought to trial in the US since 9/11 — and he did it from a wheelchair. “If it weren’t for this guy, Abu Ghaith never would have made it to American soil,” one law enforcement source said of McGhee, who was paralyzed in an accident six years ago but refused to retire. (The publicity could make him a target. ~Bob)

Interesting: Progressives’ Moral Equivalence. By Derek Hunter
Excerpt: You’ve seen this a lot in the last decade and a half: progressives asserting a moral equivalence between radial Islam and Christianity. The argument usually goes something like, “Yeah, sure, terrorists are bad, but they’re hardly the only people to kill in the name of their religion!” Then there’s the obligatory reference to the crusades. OK, sure, Christianity, like most religions, has had some less-than-flattering moments. But it’s history. If you can point me to the mass graves, severed heads or (destroyed) buildings for Christianity in our lifetime… no need to finish that sentence because there aren’t any. (The Crusades were a reaction to Islam's attempt to conquer Europe. Before the Crusades, they conquered Spain, and invaded France, were turned back by Charles Martel and his valiant warriors at the battle of Tours, 732. The Islamic attempts to conquer Europe continued for centuries, were defeated at Vienna in 1529 and 1683, at Lepanto in 1571, where 12,000 Christian galley slaves were freed from the Muslims. Where are Charles Martel and Don John of Austria when we need them? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Lepanto ~Bob)

Baby-faced weapon: Boy, 9, heaps praise on ‘martyrs’ and ‘mujahideen’ engaged in bloody jihads throughout the Middle East
Excerpt: All of nine years old, he stands at the front of a gathering in Sydney reciting passages from the Koran and lecturing followers on the importance of sacrifice in Islam. The little boy, who according to his father’s social media profile enjoys trips to McDonald’s and dinosaur exhibitions when he’s not giving sermons, heaps praise on “martyrs” and “mujahideen” engaged in bloody jihads throughout the Middle East.

Fears of More Radicalised Children as 'Trojan Horse 2' Scandal Emerges In London
Excerpt: A new wave of British schools are thought to have fallen victim to Islamist extremists trying to radicalise children, a report in today's Sunday Times suggests. Department for Education officials are said to have become increasingly concerned over a 'Trojan Horse 2' scandal which they believe could involve dozens of schools in East London, including in the Borough of Tower Hamlets, known for its Islamist-linked Mayor Lutfur Rahman.

Michael Harari, Israeli Agent Likened to James Bond, Dies at 87
Excerpt: Michael Harari, an Israeli intelligence agent who led the hit squad that was sent to avenge the murders of 11 Israeli athletes by Palestinian terrorists at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, died on Sept. 21 in Tel Aviv. He was 87.

Excerpt: Numan Haider stabbed a police officer and a federal agent. He threatened to kill Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott. He was shot dead in the midst of his jihad attack on the police. And apparently, from their actions at the funeral, his family blames the Australian media. Perhaps we should send them some of our large coterie of pro-jihad journalists, such as Christiane Amanpour, Niraj Warikoo, Jennifer Fermino and Bob Smietana. Then they would put down their stones and show us Islam’s peaceful and tolerant side.

On the lighter side
Military Bloopers--too funny.

General News and Comment

Book Recommendation: Pride and Discipline: The Hallmarks of a United States Marine. By Colonel Donald J. Myers USMC (Ret)
This terrific book will be of great interest to Marines and to anyone interested in the military. But it should also be read by anyone who leads (manages) people, as the lessons are valuable in any setting. Col. Myers (who often contributes items for this blog), commanded the Recruit Training Regiment at Marine Corps Boot Camp, Parris Island, SC from 1982 to 1984. He presents the lessons learned, and details the changes in recruit training that took place on his watch. Many are common sense--which is all too uncommon in large organizations, military or civilian. Under his direction, the recruit attrition rate decreased (correction of typo in original post), while DI burnout and the number of DIs relieved for abuse went down. There is no question that PI produced higher quality Marines under his tenure than when I graduated from PI on election day, November 3, 1964. (With one possible exception!) Most would say that the DIs are better too, though it's hard for me to imagine betters DIs than Sgt. Owens, Sgt. Martin and Sgt. Harris, who have shaped my life for 50 years, and who are in my thoughts daily. I hope the CMC makes this book required reading for Officers, NCO and especially DIs at both Parris Island and MCRD, San Diego.

Doyle Looked to Replace Burke before She Resigned. By Nathan Schacht
Excerpt: An email between then-Gov. Jim Doyle and his chief of staff, Susan Goodwin, show Doyle was looking to replace Mary Burke as commerce secretary a full month before Burke announced she would leave the job. The chain of events that followed Burke’s resignation leaves questions about whether Burke was ready to leave the position of her own accord.

How Sen. Kay Hagan’s husband won stimulus cash
Excerpt: When Kay Hagan voted for President Barack Obama’s 2009 economic stimulus package, the Democratic senator hailed it as “the best way forward for working families across North Carolina.” One of the families that later benefited is her own. JDC Manufacturing, a company co-owned by the Democratic senator’s husband, Chip, received nearly $390,000 in federal grants for energy projects and tax credits created by the 2009 stimulus law, according to public records and information provided by the company.

Worth Reading: The injustice of Eric Holder. By John Fund and Hans von Spakovsky
Excerpt: Even we were shocked when we researched our new book, “Obama’s Enforcer: Eric Holder’s Justice Department,” at the extent to which Attorney General Eric Holder Jr. has politicized the Justice Department and put the interests of left-wing ideology and his political party ahead of the fair and impartial administration of justice. However, there is no doubt that the American public has also recognized just how politically corrupt Mr. Holder is, given this month’s very embarrassing poll conducted by Hart Research for NBC News and The Wall Street Journal.

Watch: Eric Holder Scandal Montage. Sarah Jean Seman
Excerpt: From Fast & Furious to the IRS scandal, Eric Holder's time as Attorney General of the Department of Justice has been littered with lies.

http://www.politico.com/story/2014/09/poll-obama-new-york-111292.html
Excerpt: The Marist College poll found that 39 percent of the largely Democratic state’s residents think the president is doing an “excellent” or “good” job, the lowest percentage since Obama took office in 2009.

Worth Reading: What ‘War on Women’? By any objective measure, things have been going great for women for a long time. By Jonah Goldberg
Excerpt: Last Friday, the White House announced its “It’s On Us” initiative aimed at combating sexual assaults on college campuses. I’m all in favor of combating sexual assault, but the first priority in combating a problem is understanding it. That’s not the White House’s first priority. Roughly six weeks before Election Day, its chief concern is to translate an exciting social-media campaign into a get-out-the-vote operation. Accurate statistics are of limited use in that regard because rape and sexual assault have been declining for decades. (The response from feminists — including any number of men who clearly put too much starch in their “This is what a feminist looks like” T-shirts — has been less than adulatory. I wish I could say the criticisms surprised me. Over and over again women dismissed the very idea that there isn’t a war on women because, in the words of one, I am a “white dude.” Now anyone misfortunate enough to have wasted time better spent making replicas of Devil’s Tower out of their mashed potatoes reading left-wing academic gobbledygook knows that this response stands on a huge pile of identity-politics asininity. -- Jonah Goldberg, Morning Jolt http://www.nationalreview.com/newsletters)

Why Do the People Abuse Themselves by over Empowering Government? By Ron Lipsman
There is nothing in the Constitution that grants the federal government the authority to regulate the health care industry, much less the right to actually administer any portion of it. Of course, the same statement can be made about education, disability, retirement, insurance, employment, housing and so many other key aspects of our society and the US economy. That hasn’t stopped the feds from assuming control of these enterprises – sometimes partial, increasingly total. Moreover, all three branches of the government have colluded in the lawlessly unconstitutional usurpation of the people’s rights in these matters.

Excerpt: It may be necessary for those who think clearly to be precise in their definitions, particularly when comes to the politically contentious definition of equality. May I suggest that what is being pushed is not equality, but identicality? Let start with a non-human example. Four quarters equals one dollar, but four quarters is not identical to one dollar. One can melt four quarters. A dollar will burn. What our founding fathers, and the founders of Western civilization, referred to when they invoked equality was equality in overall worth, not identicality without distinction. Yet the political discourse extant today conflates the one with the other for demagogic manipulation.

Girl, 11, shoots man attacking mother in southeast Oklahoma City
Excerpt: Police said Henry broke into the house and began to attack Moreno until her daughter, Jayda Milsap, 11, shot Henry twice with a handgun. Henry tried to flee from the home after being shot and was found down the street, police said.

Critical Minerals: Rare Earths and the U.S. Economy
Excerpt: Rare earths are 17 elements in the Earth's crust used in a variety of applications, from hybrid cars and x-ray units to cell phones and wind turbines. Unfortunately, the United States is largely dependent on China for these critical minerals, posing a serious threat to the American economy, write Ann Norman, senior research fellow, Xinyuan Zou, research associate and Joe Barnett, director of policy research at the National Center for Policy Analysis.

The Recovery That Left Out Almost Everybody
Excerpt: Total employment has risen every month for more than four years. According to the Current Population Survey, more than eight million jobs have been created since the trough, while the number of unemployed has been cut by nearly six million, according to the Wall Street Journal. And despite the fact that the unemployment rate has fallen by almost 4 percent, average Americans continue to remain gloomy about the current economy and anxious about the future. According to a recent Pew Research report, only 21 percent rate current conditions as excellent or good. 79 percent view conditions as fair or poor. 33 percent agree that jobs are readily available, yet only 26 percent believe that good jobs are available. Even though the recession ended five years ago, only 21 percent of people believe that the recession ended, according to the Public Religion Institute.

Experts Slam D'Souza Sentence: 'Never Should Have Been Prosecuted'
The full details are a ridiculous set of requirements, including five full years of therapy. Murderers don't get that, the ACORN vote fraud people didn't get that, what the hell was this judge thinking? But no hard time in jail, which would have been truly insane for what even Liberals see as a very minor transgression. It'll waste the man's time for the next five years in various ways, but that's better than jail time. The judge must be one arrogant SOB to decide he can read D'Souza's mind and figure out that it must be so twisted it needs five years of therapy. But being a Conservative means if you make a mistake, any mistake, you are going to pay for it big time. The other guys, not so much. Read the article if you want all the sordid details. --Del

Woman Who Shot Stalker in the Chest Posts Chilling Account Online
Excerpt: I awoke around 115 am to the sound of the door giving way after one kick followed by the sounds of my stalker struggling to dislodge the chair while forcing his way inside. I jumped up and grabbed the gun I’ve learned to do everything even shower with. I stood at the top of my stairs and fired twice. Hitting him in the chest, I hear his scream, his disbelief that I’d stood up for myself.. 0 to 100 in milliseconds.

Left’s Pre-emptive Hits on Walker, Christie, & Perry. By Matt Batzel
Excerpt: Just this week, two seemingly unrelated events unfolded, but they actually reveal a new liberal tactic. The Hillary Clinton Front-Group, American Bridge, filed a bogus federal complaint against Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and then a federal probe into New Jersey Governor Chris Christie found no evidence linking Christie to “Bridge-Gate.” Meanwhile, Texas Governor Rick Perry was indicted last month. Make no mistake, these events are related. (We need to reply in kind, but we need to have substance to any charges. The media will tout all left wing charges as true, will try hard to debunk and from conservatives. ~Bob)

Black Genocide And The Black Leaders Who Support It. By Ryan Bomberger

Georgia Rappers Rape Female, Set Her on Fire after Losing Freestyle Battle to Her
Excerpt: The three degenerate Columbus, Ga. men — Ketorie Glover, 23, Joey Betrail Garron, 28, and Robert Carl Johnson, 23 — decided to avenge their humiliation for losing to a female by deciding to kidnap her, gang rape her, sodomize her, shoot her and set the victim on fire and leave her for dead. At a house party in Columbus, Ga., about a two-hour drive south of Atlanta, the trio of so-called male rappers met their match in a 36-year-old black female lyricist. During the freestyle battle, she out performed them all. After the third one was defeated by this cocky female rapper, the three men decided to get revenge. Important: Another Massive Tax Loophole!
This is cute. If you're an illegal, but did work in the system and paid taxes, you get to file a tax report. On it, you get to claim deductions for all the kids you say you are supporting back in the old country. Maybe like a dozen of them, nieces, nephews, whatever. Then you get a return based on that, and if you are poor enough by our legal standards, you get the special tax refund for those kids. Whom nobody in the US can really check on, and besides, why are we helping you take care of your nieces and nephews? Serious ripoff, and something you'd think the IRS would have taken steps to stop. 70% of families from the immigration surge never showed up for follow-up appointments
Show me your shocked face. ~Bob. Excerpt: Tens of thousands of young families caught crossing the border illegally earlier this year subsequently failed to meet with federal immigration agents, as they were instructed, the Homeland Security Department has acknowledged privately. An official with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement revealed that about 70 percent of immigrant families the Obama administration had released into the U.S. never showed up weeks later for follow up appointments.

The Collection of Evidence for a Lower Climate Sensitivity Continues to Grow – now up to 14 papers lower than IPCC. By Patrick J. Michaels and Paul C. “Chip” Knappenberger
Excerpt: Nic Lewis and Judith Curry just published a blockbuster paper that pegs the earth’s equilibrium climate sensitivity—how much the earth’s average surface temperature is expected to rise in association with a doubling of the atmosphere’s carbon dioxide concentration—at 1.64°C (1.05°C to 4.05°C, 90% range), a value that is nearly half of the number underpinning all of President Obama’s executive actions under his Climate Action Plan. This finding will not stop the President and the EPA from imposing more limits on greenhouse-gas emissions from fossil fuels. A wealth of similar findings have appeared in the scientific literature beginning in 2011 (see below) and they, too, have failed to dissuade him from his legacy mission.

Defanging the Left: Why liberals are staying silent on Obama’s war. By Howard Kurtz
Excerpt: Are liberals giving President Obama a pass for waging the kind of war they would instinctively oppose? In other words, are they opposed to bombing only when the missions are ordered by Republicans? There is anecdotal evidence, at least, that some on the left have lost their antiwar passion now that George W. Bush has decamped to Texas. Which means they’re more about partisanship than principle. (Funeral Services for the Anti-War Movement Will Be Held Next Week. Howard Kurtz writes the obituary of the anti-war movement. Born in 2003, the movement experienced sudden difficulties in January 2009, struggled and limped along for the past few years, and finally collapsed on the street in front of the White House last week: -- Jim Geraghty, Morning Jolt http://www.nationalreview.com/newsletters)

Thank You for Bombing
Excerpt: Washington says its air war on the Islamic State (IS) militant group in Syria is part of a strategy to "degrade and ultimately destroy" the organization. It may have another effect: swelling al Qaeda's ranks and giving the jihadist group that Osama bin Laden founded a new lease on life.

UAE’s first female fighter pilot likely dropping bombs on ISIS militants in Syria
Excerpt: The first female pilot in the United Arab Emirates' air force is reportedly taking part in the coalition air strikes against ISIS militants hiding in Syria. Maj. Mariam Al Mansouri, 35, is a squadron commander piloting an F-16 Block 60 fighter jet likely among those dropping munitions this week in coordinated attacks against Islamic State strongholds near Raqqa, Aleppo and Idlib.

Mariam Al Mansouri: Female Fighter Pilot Disowned By Family For Bombing ISIS Terrorists In Syria
Excerpt: Mansouri led three other UAE F-16 pilots in the first airstrike and it’s said that when the “U.S. tanker pilots called in for air refueling and asked for the UAE mission and when they heard a female voice on the other side they paused for 20 seconds.” They then proceeded to drop bombs this week in coordinated attacks against Islamic State strongholds near Raqqa, Aleppo and Idlib. Unfortunately, an Arabic language news site called Wattan.TV is reporting that Mariam Al Mansouri’s family has disowned her for these actions. (Maybe our Air Force could find a place for her. ~Bob)

The Defense of Kobani. By Jonathan Spyer
Excerpt: This week witnessed the second determined attempt by Islamic State forces to destroy the Kurdish enclave around Kobani (Ayn al-Arab) city in northern Syria. Kobani is one of three autonomous enclaves maintained by the Kurds in Syria. As of now, it appears that after initial lightning advances, the progress of the jihadis has been halted; they have not moved forward in the last 24 hours. The arrival of Kurdish forces from across the Turkish border is the key element in freezing the advance.

The Interesting Fact About Some of the Missiles Being Used Against the Islamic State. By Fred Lucas
Excerpt: The United States used Tomahawk cruise missiles to hit the Islamic State in the opening strikes in Syria this week – a missile system that President Barack Obama’s budget proposal had slated for elimination by 2016. Further, nearly half of the Tomahawk missiles – or 47 percent of what the U.S. planned to buy next year – were already used this week in the strikes, according to Investor’s Business Daily. The administration also sought to eliminate or scale back the F-22 Raptors and the A-10 Warthog, also being used in the conflict with the Sunni militant group.

Top Two Weapons In ISIS Campaign Both Cancelled By Obama
Excerpt: In the first night alone of air operations against Syrian based terror targets, the Pentagon fired off nearly half the number of missiles its pared back purchase program permits for all of next year. ... Obama’s cancellation of the cruise missile program baffles defense analysts; given the Administration’s 2012 decision to dramatically shrink the size of U.S. Armed Forces to well below that required to “conduct large-scale, prolonged stability operations.” The less capable the US military is to deal with multiple simultaneous and transglobal crisis, goes the accepted thinking of top brass, the more reliant need so-called “stand-off weapons” like the unmanned ship-fired Tomahawk cruise missile that can reach targets thousands of miles away, to make up for the gap in conventional forces. (Pull your pants down and bend over, we're screwed. --Barb)

Muslim adding to the "Rich Fabric" of America: FBI probing suspect's recent conversion to Islam in Oklahoma beheading
Excerpt: FBI officials are investigating a beheading at an Oklahoma food distribution center after co-workers said the suspect tried to convert them to Islam after his recent conversion. The alleged suspect, Alton Nolen, 30, was recently fired from Vaughan Foods in Moore prior to Thursday’s attack. (Liberals' worst fears...Muslim beheads a woman, shot by 'good guy with a gun'. Imagine that... Headline I want to see: Gun nut shoots man practicing his peaceful religion. --George. Madison paper led with "Workplace Violence." ~Bob. So the guy tries to convert his co-workers to Islam, nobody is buying, so he brings a big knife to work, takes the head off one woman, starts stabbing others, and gets shot, thank heavens, by a company officer who is an Oklahoma County reserve deputy there who has his gun. [Wasn't that a fortunate thing?] This is the kind of thing that has become part of the landscape now, that we can have fanatic Muslims living here go crazy at any given point and decide it's their day to go full jihad and not worry about dying because the 72 virgins are waiting for them. Yes, it's one guy from maybe ten thousand, but we have several hundred thousand Muslims here now, which means there are always going to be dangers from that tiny fraction of total fanatics. Which is why I am in favor of a lot of FBI surveys of the Muslim population, instead of worrying about "disaffected veterans" as the most likely source of danger here. I would like to have undercover observers in every mosque, at least once in a while, to listen to the sermons and see if anyone is preaching fundamentalism and hatred of the West. That's what they did in Germany, and when they find a mosque that does that, it gets shut down. We didn't tolerate Nazis here once the war started, and we should not tolerate jihadist thinkers here, since that war started for sure on 9-11. This is only common sense, and the will to protect our people. Muslims who are going along living nice, non-fanatic lives, should never be bothered. Those who hate and despise our whole society need to be watched and for my money, sent back to whatever country from which they came. If they were born here, give them a choice of where they would like to go. Sound extremist? People having their heads cut off at work or being shot in their cars or massacred at their own Army base tends to bring out the survival instincts in me, for myself and for my fellow citizens. --Del)

Crime and Non-Punishment in Sweden. By Bruce Bawer
Excerpt: It’s no secret that while rape has been on the upswing in recent years across Europe, the figures are higher in Sweden – which, not coincidentally, has Europe’s second highest percentage of Muslim inhabitants – than in an other country on the continent. Yet even as the incidence of rape has soared, Sweden has continued to treat rapists more leniently than pretty much every other country in the Western world. (I was looking up statistics on rape in the world, and was still a bit surprised to find that Sweden was so badly off by this rating. I have known for years that they had an increasing problem, but didn't know how far it had gone. With young Muslim men at under 10% of the male population in Sweden, it turned out that when they last published statistics, they were committing the vast majority of the rapes. Often being unapologetic about it, because "the girls were asking for it" by the way they dressed. And it turns out that Swedish judges, a large fraction of whom are women by the way, are unbelievably merciful when it comes to sentencing rapists. (But if you say anything publicly that can be considered by any standard as racist, you will be in serious problem with the law posthaste.) To be fair, Swedish sentences for all kinds of crimes would make criminals in many other countries fall on the ground laughing, and the conditions of their prisons make me wonder if the way to nice retirement with full medical care is to go to Sweden and threaten a bank teller with a butter knife to get a few dozen Kroner in cash. I'm sure if at the same time I screamed out hateful things about gays, transgenders, Buddhists, or women, it could add up to at good ten years of not working. With access to a nice gym, TV, and maybe a DVD player. Seriously, you have to wonder how it is that intelligent people worry more about the criminals than the victims. Aggravated rape by several men at a time is the kind of thing that scars a woman for the rest of her life, it's a continuous, prolonged, deeply personal violation that gives you memories that don't fade all that much with time. And by these incredibly mild sentences the judges broadcast a message that even if you get caught, it just won't be that bad. Making people have some respect, even some fear, of the consequences of breaking laws is kind of important to a society. When a society stops discouraging criminal behavior, chances are fair it might just increase. How can those judges believe they are fulfilling their responsibilities to the victims with such sentences? Right now I can only wonder how those Swedish fathers feel about their daughters' experiences and how little it meant for the perpetrators. I don't know what to say about someone who rapes my daughter and walks away from it somehow ........ except that he will, I am certain, have the Great Wheel come around and find in his life reason to come to sincerely regret his earlier behavior. --Del. Now, now, rape of immodest infidel women is part of Muslim culture and according to the left we shouldn't judge because all cultures are equally valid. Except western culture, especially rural white culture in the US. ~Bob)

One day she sat in her car in NĆørrebro (a Muslim-dominated area in Copenhagen). Seven young people with Arab background surrounded the car. One of them put his foot up on the hood and stared at her. “Do you think I’m looking at you, you fucking ugly whore. Try to see what clothes you wear, bitch,” he said to Jojo, who dresses as Danish women do: shorts and a t-shirt in the summer. Then he noticed the cross around her neck.
