News and opinion about the war between civilization and Islamic barbarism

Book Recommendation: Cyber War: The Next Threat to National Security and What to Do About It by Richard A. ClarkeRobert Knake
Recently I published an article, "Seven Books Every Presidential Candidate Should Read." After reading this frightening book about the vulnerability of our military and economy, from the power grid to the financial structure, to cyber war, I will update the article. Clarke is a recognized expert, and is not a partisan hack. he has served as an adviser to Reagan, the Bushes, Clinton and Obama on these topics. Though this was published in 2010, I've seen nothing to suggest we are less vulnerable today, and some articles suggesting we are more so. Worth reading, and not just by computer geeks. ~Bob

Important: Islamic State is plotting deadly cyber-attacks - George Osborne
Excerpt: Islamic State militants are trying to develop the ability to launch deadly cyber-attacks on UK targets such as air traffic control or hospitals, Chancellor George Osborne has said. He is set to double UK funding to fight cybercrime to £1.9bn over five years. (I think not just against Britain. ~Bob)

Worth Reading: Service Guarantees Citizenship (Part III). By Tom Kratman
Let me tell you a few little somethings I’ve gathered about the bulk of the modern western left: When it comes to societal ruin – ruin of their own societies – their urge to ruin is overwhelming; their instincts are unerring; their energy is inexhaustible, and their ruthlessness is absolute. Wrecking the country and Western civilization would be a feature, not a bug. So go down the list of states and see which thirteen left-dominated states would object. And that’s assuming a two-thirds vote in congress, when rather few congress-critters would qualify under the system and would thus lose their jobs. Frankly, that last item seems to me to make it impossible even to offer a compromise, a twofer, so to speak, where they might get something they want – statehood for DC and Puerto Rico, say – in exchange for ratification of “Service Guarantees Citizenship.” (Tom Kratman is a retired USA LtCol, an occasional contributor to this blog, and an outstand author of military science fiction, including the A Desert Called Peace series. http://www.amazon.com/Desert-Called-Peace-Carrera-Book-ebook/dp/B00B5HJOFY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426715332&sr=8-1&keywords=Peace+Kratman ~Bob)

ISIS VIDEO: AFTER PARIS, WASHINGTON, D.C. IS NEXT
If Muslim Jihadists screaming "Allah Akbar" took over the White House and a Muslim Imam in religious robes quoted the Qur'an while beheading Michelle and the Obama girls, when rescued Obama would say it had nothing to do with Islam and we needed to take in more Muslim (but not Christian) refugees. ~Bob

So far, governors in at least 16 states have moved to suspend or restrict the refugee resettlement, including Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas and Wisconsin

U.S. Warplanes Strike ISIS Oil Trucks in Syria. By MICHAEL R. GORDON
Excerpt:  Intensifying pressure on the Islamic State, United States warplanes for the first time attacked hundreds of trucks on Monday that the extremist group has been using to smuggle the crude oil it has been producing in Syria, American officials said. According to an initial assessment, 116 trucks were destroyed in the attack, which took place near Deir al-Zour, an area in eastern Syria that is controlled by the Islamic State. (Interesting that they've finally loosened the leash a little and undertaken stuff that should have been done many months ago.  But notice they did everything possible to avoid killing any drivers.  Why?  If they're working for ISIS, they are part of the problem, either as members or willing workers.  They remain a resource, when we need to deny ISIS all resources.  That's how war works. --Del. Poland's foreign minister proposes forming army out of the Syrian men arriving in Europe
Excerpt: Poland’s new foreign minister has proposed forming an army out of the Syrian men arriving in Europe which could then return to their homeland to fight for freedom. “If there are hundreds of thousands of young Syrians coming to Europe then we can create an army,” said Mr Waszczykowski during an interview for TVP, Poland’s public broadcaster. “Can you imagine a situation when we send an army to fight in Syria while hundreds of thousands of Syrians sit and drink coffee on Berlin’s Unter den Linden and watch us fight for their safety? “They can go to fight to liberate their country with our help,” continued the minister, who took office on Monday...

So Far: Syrian Refugees in U.S. Include 2,098 Muslims, 53 Christians
Excerpt: President Obama said Monday that calls from some quarters for the U.S. to admit only Christian refugees from Syria were “shameful,” yet the reality is that today’s refugee system discriminates, not against Syrian Muslims, but against Christians and other non-Muslim minorities.

Discrimination Against Christians
Despite President Obama’s sanctimonious proclamation Monday that America does not have a religious test when it comes to admitting refugees into America, the actual math appears to show the complete opposite is true. According to CNSNews.com, who looked at the data, only 53 Syrian Christian refugees have been allowed into America, compared to 2,098 Syrian Muslims. While everyone of every faith is suffering in a Syrian civil war that has been further complicated by the successful creation of an Islamic State throughout much of the country, there is no questions that Syrian Christians have been singled out for the worst kind of persecution under ISIS, including mass beheadings that do not discriminate against innocent women and even small children. (Per article, 53 only since 2011 and UN is determining who is selected......Barb

Worth reading: The Islamist Tantrum. People are dead in Paris because Europe decided to make a fetish of its tolerance for intolerance. By Bret Stephens
Excerpt: We live in the age of the sanctified tantrum—the political and religious furies we dare not name or shame, much less confront.
Students bully college administrators with contrived political demands. The administrators plead they can do better, then capitulate. Incompetent writers pen trite racial screeds aimed at the very society that lifts them above their ability. They are hailed as geniuses. Donald Trump’s bid for the Republican presidential nomination epitomizes the politics of the tantrum. He’s angry as hell, and so is his base. We’re supposed to respect this. And then there is the tantrum of Islam, another eruption of rage that feeds off our astonishing willingness to indulge it.

Washington, DC: Muslim slashes woman with knife at Union Station. By Robert Spencer, JihadWatch.org
Excerpt: The “-Bey” suffix at the end of Rashad Bugg-Bey’s name suggests that he is a member of the Moorish Science Temple, a strange and frequently violent sect of black Americans who identify as Muslims. Members add -Bey or -El to their surnames to signify their new Islamic faith. It appears from this story that Rashad Bugg-Bey may have taken the recent knife intifada among “Palestinians” to heart, believing it a good time to stab some Infidels in Washington.

War Is The Answer. By Maurice Montaigne
Excerpt: “War is not the answer!” the bumper sticker proudly proclaims. It’s a ridiculous assertion. Sometimes war is the answer. It depends on the question. If the question is “do you need to impose your will on an enemy who will otherwise not stop hurting you?” then war is the only answer.

This news item was published on December 3, 1947, long before “Settlements
Ah, when NYT was 3 cents. I've argued for decades that, long before the "territories" were seized in the 6-Day War, Muslims promised to drive the Jews into the sea. So its never been about the settlements or "the West Bank" or East Jerusalem, and giving these back will almost certainly not bring peace. --PM. The Paris attackers hit the city’s young, progressive core. By Manu Saadia
Excerpt: The attacks were concentrated in the center of Paris, on the Right Bank. These are places and streets that burst with life on a Friday evening. It is where young and hip Parisians gather to drink and socialize. Le Carillon, La Belle Equipe, Le Petit Cambodge: these are ordinary neighborhood joints where you meet your buddies for a quick “demi” of watery French beer or a snack before going out somewhere else. ... This is the land of hipster socialists. These neighborhoods recently elected a female socialist mayor, as well as a slew of Green Party candidates, even as the rest of the country voted for the more conservative and anti-immigration parties on the Right.

2 terror suspects killed, 7 arrested in raid targeting Paris attack mastermind
Excerpt: French authorities say that an operation targeting the alleged mastermind of Friday’s terror attacks in Paris has ended more than seven hours after it began with a lengthy gun battle. Police say 2 suspects were killed, one of them a woman who blew herself up with a suicide vest, and 7 others were arrested. The identities of the suspects were not immediately known.

Worth Reading: John Kerry, Charlie Hebdo and the ‘free speech delusion.’ By Sonny Bunch
Excerpt: I want to focus on two portions of Kerry’s comments. The first is his “speako.” While I suppose it’s admirable that our nation’s chief diplomat was quick to correct his unfortunate admission that he found the attacks on Charlie Hebdo had “a legitimacy,” it’s telling that this is where his mind went as he was stumbling about looking for the words to express how the most recent attack was worse than the previous one. Even if you leave that aside, however, his comments reside somewhere between inane and idiotic. First off, the idea that these attacks were “absolutely indiscriminate” is foolishness: As Alyssa Rosenberg has noted, the targets — a sporting event, a concert, a series of restaurants — and the comments released by the Islamic State in the aftermath of the attack make it quite clear that the attack was very “discriminate.” (The stronger the progressive, the stronger the totalitarian impulse. ~Bob)

The Economics of Higher Education: Why Does It Cost So Much? By Elliott Morss, Morss Global Finance
Excerpt: “Tuition and other costs have increased, but not primarily because of higher faculty salaries or more administrators. While these have gone up a small amount, fringe benefits, most notably health benefits, have increased more. And higher faculty costs have been offset by employing more part time faculty and increasing the use of teaching assistants. Student costs have increased substantially because of falling state and local government subsidies. In addition, higher education costs have risen significantly because of the hiring of a large number “non-teaching professionals.”
