We had to pull the plug today on our trip to visit friends.
There was ice on the roads, and we weighed our desire to go against the grief
that a sliding accident would create in our lives and opted for caution. But I
had time to make my healthy SOS for dinner and a low-sugar apple pound cake for
desert. Then there's the two quarts of potato salad we got to take with us....
But on the plus side, I pulled enough from email, news feeds

Majah 1854). And as for quoting the Qur’an as he was beating his children,
maybe if they were girls he was quoting this verse: “Men are the managers of
the affairs of women for that Allah has preferred in bounty one of them over
another, and for that they have expended of their property. Righteous women are
therefore obedient, guarding the secret for Allah’s guarding. And those you
fear may be rebellious admonish; banish them to their couches, and beat them.”
