Book Recommendation: The Ruling Class: How They Corrupted America and What We Can Do About It by Angelo M. Codevilla
Having recently reread and appreciated Codevilla's Advice to War Presidents, I looked for more works by him and came across this slim volume (87 pages plus addendums of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution) and I highly recommend it. For Codevilla, the "One Percent" is not those with great wealth (though they may be members) but the elites who exercise power to force the rest of us to live as they decide is best--of course, they assume that they deserve to live very well indeed. The "ruling class" includes elected officials of both parties, bureaucrats, media stars and moguls, academics, bureaucrats and union fat cats, all of who look down on us bitter clingers in the masses, who Codevilla terms "the Country Party." If you are as bemused as I am by the rise of the bombastic and mercurial narcissist Donald Trump, or the brilliant but naive Dr. Ben Carson, this book will explain to you the growing distrust of office holders in both parties. Written in 2010, it has become more pertinent by the year.

Worth Reading: Part I: Sorry Rodney…By Tom Kratman
Excerpt: But, no, we probably can’t all just get along. In light of recent events in Paris, and Paris times many thousands all over the Middle East, and considering the increasing migration of Moslems to currently non-Islamic parts of the world, and the trouble that nearly universally flows from that, I think it’s probably about time that I formally explained why Islam is different. Before I do though, consider a couple of Amendments to the Bill of Rights, the First and Second, and how they applied once upon a time compared to how they apply today. There was a time when the Second Amendment basically permitted – rather, denied the government the power to infringe – everything, armaments-wise, to the private citizen that any government might have. “Ah,” says the gun control advocate, “but surely not guns that would fire more than X shots from a single load.” No? How about cannon that would fire hundreds of shots from a single load, instantly? These were perfectly permissible. Or how about the Girondoni Air Rifle, which was not unknown here, and was capable of firing twenty aimed shots in a minute from its easily and rapidly reloadable twenty-round magazine? (Tom Kratman is a retired USA LtCol, an occasional contributor to this blog, and an outstand author of military science fiction, including the A Desert Called Peace series. http://www.amazon.com/Desert-Called-Peace-Carrera-Book-ebook/dp/B00B5HJOFY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426715332&sr=8-1&keywords=Peace+Kratman ~Bob)

Worth Reading: Dear Russia. By Tom Kratman
Excerpt: Firstly, my condolences on the recent murder of your two pilots. While one might argue that shooting descending parachutists (as opposed to paratroopers) would be permissible in some circumstances, as when there is no reasonable possibility of capture, in this case there was such a possibility. Obviously, you’ll want revenge. I – and I think most Americans, at least such as are not in favor of a large and viciously fundamentalist Islamic state in the Middle East – understand and, generally speaking, approve of things like that, where called for. The situation, however, is more complex than that. Because of that complexity, I strongly encourage you to dispense with emotion, to the utmost of your ability, and reason carefully before acting. I can’t offer condolences on the initial shoot down of your Sukhoi-24, because I really don’t know what happened. If it drifted into Turkish airspace, and the Turks shot it down, even if they pursued it out of Turkish airspace…well, you’re in an unenviable moral position to complain about any of that, given the conduct your predecessor in interest, the USSR, with regard to KAL 007.3 If, however, it never violated Turkish airspace, and the Turks crossed over to attack it, you may well have a casus belli against Turkey. If the Turks are offering war I strongly advise you to decline the invitation. (Tom Kratman is a retired USA LtCol, an occasional contributor to this blog, and an outstand author of military science fiction, including the A Desert Called Peace series. http://www.amazon.com/Desert-Called-Peace-Carrera-Book-ebook/dp/B00B5HJOFY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426715332&sr=8-1&keywords=Peace+Kratman ~Bob)

Nice: 'Severe blow': Al Qaeda suicide bomber takes out leadership of key ISIS brigade. By Paul Alster
Excerpt: A recent suicide bombing in southern Syria shows the rivalry between Al Qaeda and ISIS is more than just a contest to see who can kill the most infidels -- the groups are using classic terror techniques on each other. The Nov. 15 bombing came at a top-level meeting of the Yarmouk Martyrs Brigade, a key ISIS militia known for its bloody and vicious hold over parts of the Golan Heights. Six of the group’s top men were killed, including Muhammad "Abu Ali" al-Baridi, the shadowy head of the group who went by the nickname “The Uncle. Al Nusra Front, Al Qaeda’s Syrian affiliate, quickly took credit, gloating on Twitter about the “heroic” attack. (The maniac killers are taking out each other!  Makes my whole day... Del. How many Virgins do you get for blowing up rival terrorists? ~Bob)

Poll: 500,000 American Muslims Want People Who Criticize Islam Put To Death
Excerpt: More than half – 58 percent – believed that criticism of “Islam or Muhammad” is not permitted under the First Amendment. 45 percent believed people who criticize the religion should “face criminal charges.” But that’s not the shocker. The poll also revealed that 11.5 percent of American Muslims – of which there are more than 5 million – either strongly agreed or somewhat agreed that “Americans who criticize or parody Islam should be put to death.” The margin of error is 3.98 percentage points.

Dulce et decorum est pro insania mori
Excerpt: A land invasion of ISIS territory in Syria and Iraq would be costly and only serve to further roil the waters of the region. Yet the idea of a president going on television in the wake of an attack and not vowing further punitive measures is inconceivable....The next time something goes wrong and an attack hits the United States, how do you sell the American people on the idea of not really doing anything about it? (Per article, NYT reported noted that Obama felt his agenda to focus on Asia with 4 summits was upstaged by Paris terror.  Just like BLM started #F**KParis to show their malcontent at their agendas being upstaged by reality.  Oops. --Barb)

Worth Reading: The Existential Crisis Behind Today’s Islamic Violence. By Joel J. Miller
Excerpt: And from Day One that theology drove conquest. ... Within a decade of Muhammad’s death, Muslim armies captured Damascus, Jerusalem, and Alexandria. Pushing west into North Africa and east to Persia, it took them only a hundred years to conquer a territory surpassing that of the Byzantine Empire. ... As much as Islam’s early victories were the product of its theology, so was its failure. “No exclusive power was ever destined to be a world-power,” said Velimirovich. “The ultimate failure of Islam to become a world-power lies in its exclusiveness.” The demand for total submission, deficient of what we might call Trinitarian deference, cannot sustain itself and carries the source of its own undoing. Bad theology, in other words, has consequences.

Interesting: Here’s Obama’s Other Syrian Problem
Excerpt: Rezko was a generous financial supporter of a number of Arab American groups in Chicago, including the Arab American Action Network (AAAN). The Obamas were seen at many Chicago Arab events. “Rezko got a lot of grant money to AAAN” and to Ali Abunimah, the radical author of the “Electronic Intifada,” according to Ray Hanania, a Chicago-based Arab American media consultant in a 2012 interview with this reporter. The Obama’s attended several AAAN dinners, including one honoring radical Palestinian activist Rashid Khalidi and another that featured the late Palestinian theorist Edward Said. (Per article, Obama DOJ did not pursue terrorist charges against AAAN. --Barb)

Worth Reading: Political Translations. By Thomas Sowell
http://www.creators.com/conservative/thomas-sowell/political-translations.html
Excerpt: It is amazing how many different ways the same thing can be said, creating totally different impressions. For example, when President Barack Obama says that defeating ISIS is going to take a long time, how is that different from saying that he is going to do very little, very slowly? It is saying the same thing in different words. Defenders of the administration's policies may cite how many aerial sorties have been flown by American planes against ISIS. There have been thousands of these sorties, which sounds very impressive. But what is less impressive — and more indicative — is that, in most of those sorties, the planes have not fired a single shot or dropped a single bomb.

A NEW LOW: US TV Depicts Russian ISIS Tanker Strikes as American. Public Broadcasting Service - hang your head in shame!
How crazy is this?  The Russians provide videos, our side doesn't but does say it gave the truckers 45 minutes to get clear of the trucks.  Like, we have to be polite to the people who belong to or work for ISIS?  Clearly we are lacking people who understand the concept of WAR at all.  You don't warn the enemy, you wipe them out, and make their scattered body parts a lesson to the rest. We need a true leader so desperately in this fight, but all we can do is wait a year for the election, then another several weeks until somebody else can take over and, please Heaven, start doing what screams out to be done. --Del

Worth Reading: Reversing the Muslim Tide. By Paul R. Hollrah
Excerpt: In the days following the horrific slaughter of innocent men, women, and children by radical Islamists in Paris, small groups of Syrian refugees have been  detained in unlikely ports of entry throughout the western hemisphere.  Eleven Syrian refugees, traveling with fake passports, were detained in Paraguay; 5 Syrians, traveling with stolen Greek passports, were arrested in Honduras; 3 Syrian men, traveling with fake Greek passports, were arrested on the Caribbean Island of St. Maarten after traveling through Brazil, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti; and 8 Syrians were arrested after making it as far as the INS border checkpoint at Laredo, Texas, Is it my imagination, or is there a pattern developing here?  Is it pure coincidence that so many Syrians were detained in unlikely western hemisphere locations while trying to enter the U.S. illegally?

Muslim feminist “diversity officer” in the UK sends rape threat to Pamela Geller

Worth Reading: Obama Has Just Begun. By Victor Davis Hanson
http://www.nationalreview.com/article/427522/obamas-most-dangerous-year
Excerpt: Insidiously and inadvertently, Barack Obama is alienating the people and moving the country to the right. If he keeps it up, by 2017 it will be a reactionary nation. But, counterintuitive as it seems, that is fine with Obama: Après nous le déluge. By sheer force of his personality, Obama has managed to lose the Democratic Senate and House. State legislatures and governorships are now predominantly Republican. Obama’s own favorable ratings rarely top 45 percent. In his mind, great men, whether Socrates or Jesus, were never appreciated in their time. So it is not surprising that he is not, as he presses full speed ahead.

5 Devastating Obamacare Facts Every American Should Know
These deductibles must be 2015's.  I've been researching and find monthly costs ranging from $700-$1,300 (more than mortgage) and deductibles from $6,000-$8,000.  At that rate, seriously considering paying the fine and paying privately or checking out Medi-Share or Liberty HealthShare, but they don't cover preexisting conditions (for first year for Liberty HealthShare).  Was hoping Congress would DO something about the mess of monopolies they have created; remove the taxes on medical devices and stunting of research in the US and allow across-state-border policy purchasing and MDs.  Massive destruction of what was once the finest health care system in the world.  Rest of country soon to follow. --Barb

Worth Reading: The Disappearing Governors. By Thomas Sowell
Excerpt: There is a painful irony in a recent decision of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, on the side of Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana, whom the U.S. Department of Justice tried to stop from making charter schools widely available to minority youngsters in his state. The Circuit Court's decision over-ruled a lower court decision on the side of the Justice Department, which was opposing the large-scale creation of charter schools in Louisiana, on grounds that this would interfere with long-standing federal government efforts to racially integrate public schools. In short, Governor Jindal's attempt to give minority children a chance for a better education prevailed against the attempts of the political left to use these children as guinea pigs for their theories about mixing and matching students by race

WaPo Fact Checker: Loretta Lynch’s false claim on sex trafficking arrests
Excerpt: As always, the burden of proof rests with the speaker. Lynch’s speech, as delivered, was clearly false, and a prominent correction should appear on DOJ’s Web site. But even the revised language is misleading and unproven, given there have been no records kept of the number of pimps who were arrested specifically for trafficking in underage children. Instead, government officials appear to believe they can boost their success rate by slapping the word “sex trafficker” on adults who have been arrested even though such charges have not — and could not— be brought in a court of law. The goal of rescuing children from the sex trade is laudable, but the effort is undermined when the statistics are cooked. Four Pinocchios

Obama Quietly Releases Plans For 2,224 Regulations Ahead Of Turkey Day
http://dailycaller.com/2015/11/23/obama-quietly-releases-plans-for-2224-regs-ahead-of-turkey-day/#ixzz3sNcIAQNW
Excerpt: While millions of Americans prepare to stuff themselves with Turkey and pie, the Obama administration quietly released its plans for 2,224 federal rules Friday — a preview of just how many more regulations the president is attempting to issue before he leaves office. President Barack Obama’s Unified Agenda for Fall 2015 is his administration’s regulatory road map and lays out thousands of regulations being finalized in the coming months. Obama has developed a habit of releasing the agenda late on Friday before a major holiday. Minneapolis police arrest two people after shooting injures five near protests, say they are still seeking suspects
Excerpt: Authorities on Tuesday arrested two men suspected of opening fire on people near a “Black Lives Matter” rally against a recent police killing of an unarmed black man, a day after five people were wounded in a shooting not far from a police building that has been the epicenter of protests here. In Chicago, meanwhile, officials were preparing for several days of possible protests, as prosecutors on Tuesday said they were charging a police officer with murder for shooting a black teenager in an incident captured on a graphic video expected to be released on Wednesday.

Climate Scientists Dismantle Manmade Theory of Global Warming
http://lastresistance.com/14873/climate-scientists-dismantle-manmade-theory-of-global-warming/
Excerpt: Perhaps the only manmade thing about global warming is the theory itself. The earth goes through climate cycles in the same way that it goes through seasons. The fact that the climate changes is nothing new. It goes through warming cycles and cooling cycles. The part where the issue ceases to be scientific is the subject of who’s to blame, as if someone has to be blamed for the weather. In politics, pointing fingers at a particular group of people is how you win elections

Excerpt: It would be easy to call protesting college students crybabies and brats for pitching hissy fits over hurt feelings, but this likely would lead to such torrents of tearful tribulation that the nation’s university system would have to shut down for a prolonged period of grief counseling. Besides, it would be insensitive. Instead, let me be the first to say: it’s not the students’ fault. These serial tantrums are direct results of our Everybody Gets a Trophy culture and an educational system that, for the most part, no longer teaches a core curriculum, including history, government and the Bill of Rights. The students simply don’t know any better.

Excerpt: Northeastern University’s experiment to create a safe space for veteran students was shut down after the veterans converted the building into a brothel, according to a University spokesman. "The Veterans Center was a place where they could go where they wouldn’t feel marginalized,” Northeastern President Joseph Aoun said. “It was a state of the art building with padded walls, straightjackets, and doors that locked from the outside. Veterans could attend class online to keep them away from the student body. This would allow veterans to have a safe space and keep them contained for campus safety. Unfortunately, something went wrong.” Just days after the Veteran Center opened, construction workers were seen entering the building with metal poles and hot tubs. An audit revealed the Northeastern Student Veteran’s Association spent their entire budget sponsoring work visas for Thai women.
