When people have no religious basis at all for their morality, there's a steady drift towards amorality. If there are no standards from above, people make their own, and they can be selfcentered. No sin, no guilt, no need to have compassion for others, the only thing of importance is what benefits the self... it's a bad direction for a society to go into. We can see its effects all around us. --Del
