Worth reading: A Wounded Stomach And An Upset Tummy. By Andy Weddington
Excerpt: On Wednesday, 21 June 2000, President Bill Clinton presented Senator Inouye with the Medal of Honor - upgrading his DSC. And that recognition was done to correct a believed slight based on race back in the day. The citation leaves no doubt that correction of the record was long overdue.

MORE ON GUNS

Worth Reading: SHOCK ALERT: Kindergarten Killer Videogame. By Regis Giles
Excerpt: Wayne LaPierre referenced in his speech today, as he addressed the Connecticut school shootings, that there was a video game out there titled “Kindergarten Killer”. Curious, I went looking for it and it turns out it does exist. And it’s free! Here is the description of the game: (So it takes ten years, the Sandy Hook murders and the NRA to bring this to our attention. Might that be because the violent entertainment industry is part of the progressive base, thus off limits to media criticism? If some loathsome person put up a game called “Queer Killer,” or “Spic Killer,” or "Nigger Killer,” or “Chick Killer” or “Muslim Killer,” it would create a firestorm in a day, and the designer would rightly instantly become a pariah, hounded into retraction and repentance. Maybe even “Jew Killer” might get called out, but the left and the media’s sick love affair with Black Muslims, CAIR, Black Militants, the Muslim Brotherhood and other vile anti-Semites might make that as okay as "Kindergarten Killer." ~Bob.)
Gun-Rights Q & A with a Liberal. By Michelle Zook
Q: Shouldn’t we ban assault weapons? A: All weapons are “assault” weapons and almost anything can be a weapon. By this statement, I take it that you’re in favor of banning high-heeled shoes, pillows, knives, guns, hockey sticks, baseball bats, coasters, automobiles, tools, furniture, some varieties of plants, laundry detergent, wasp spray, wine bottles, etc…

Excerpt: Years ago Texas began arming its teachers. Now more states are seeing it as a viable, and I might add, rational and logical option to letting kids and teachers simply be herded up and made victims of in a place where there is supposed to be learning. (Since the vast majority of mass shootings take place in “gun-free zones,” naturally the liberal response to violence is to create more gun-free zones, giving the murders a safe place to inflict evil. ~Bob.)

Excerpt: Instead of throwing money at the usual President Obama union supporters, the next “economic stimulus” can shell out a mere $50 billion or so and hire an officer for every school at $50,000 per year. (The flaw is that armed guards are unlikely to be Democrat voters, so Democrats will never vote to give them jobs, regardless of the kids. It’s all about power and votes, not protecting kids. Or he Democrats would be putting felons who fail gun background checks in prison, and they aren’t. Might upset the base to actually enforce the gun laws. ~Bob.)

From the left: NRA Leader Wayne LaPierre's Much-Criticized Sandy Hook Speech Was Actually Quite Effective
Excerpt: Granted, if you believe that what LaPierre was trying to do today was to sincerely join in a national conversation over school shootings, or offer a coherent set of preventative policy options, or even just demonstrate some baseline sensitivity for the lives that were lost, it is easy to see why you'd deem LaPierre's press conference to be an ineffective, tone-deaf failure. (The left wants to have a conversation about many issues, as long as you agree with them. Present any other views, and the “conversation” turns into their efforts to shout you down, silence you or denigrate you. ~Bob.)

Firearms Supplier Sells More Than Three Years Worth Of Magazines In Just Three Days. By Gregory Gwyn-Williams, Jr.
Excerpt: Brownells, the world's largest supplier of firearms, has reportedly sold three-and-a-half years worth of magazines in just seventy-two hours. (Barack Obama, the greatest firearms salesman ever. ~Bob.)

Schools get serious about security
Excerpt: : "We have to ask ourselves what kind of climate we want to create in our schools. Do we want our school campus to look like the Old West with people having sidearms attached to their hip, or do we want education to happen in a positive way?" Stephens told NBC News. "That's the hard part of this." (So security is not positive? How about dead kids? Is that positive? Guys like Stephens need to find another line of work if their students' safety is less important than decorum. I say that as a parent. America needs to face up to reality. The good news is that quite a few schools are doing just that, and they are leaving Obama and his gun ban agenda looking like a donkey's tail end. --Don Hank)

Flashback: Clinton Requests $60 Million To Put Cops In Schools
Excerpt: In their zeal to rampage this left-wing agenda, the media has apparently forgotten that back in 2000, on the one-year anniversary of the Columbine shooting (which occurred with an assault weapons ban in place), President Clinton requested $60 million in federal money to fund a fifth round of funding for a program called "COPS in School," a program that does exactly what the NRA is proposing and the media is currently in overdrive mocking: (If you are a liberal, you have no trouble believing that it was brilliant when Clinton suggested it, crazy when the NRA did. ~Bob.)

Worth Reading: Would Banning Firearms Reduce Murder And Suicide? A Review Of International And Some Domestic Evidence. By Don B. Kates And Gary Mauser. Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy
Warning—this will annoy the fact-averse. ~Bob. Excerpt: International evidence and comparisons have long been offered as proof of the mantra that more guns mean more deaths and that fewer guns, therefore, mean fewer deaths. Unfortunately, such discussions are all too often been afflicted by misconceptions and factual error and focus on comparisons that are unrepresentative. It may be useful to begin with a few examples. There is a compound assertion that (a) guns are uniquely available in the United States compared with other modern developed nations, which is why (b) the United States has by far the highest murder rate. Though these assertions have been endlessly repeated, statement (b) is, in fact, false and statement (a) is substantially so. (Here is a really detailed examination of gun ownership and gun violence across many Western nations. It is exhaustively footnoted, and presents body after body of facts about the past and present rates of gun ownership and gun violence. It's not a short read, but not super long either, and for anyone really interested in seeing and understanding the facts about gun ownership, it's a gold mine. --Del)

Shoplifter Uses Ukulele in Convenience-store Attack
The National Ukulele Association blocks our efforts to have a serious conversation about ukulele control. ~Bob.

Pressure grows on Senate Democrats to act on ‘fiscal cliff.’ By Alexander Bolton
Excerpt: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is resisting pressure from Republicans pushing for the Senate to take a more active role to avoid the “fiscal cliff” after House legislation stalled Thursday. (The Democrat-controlled senate hasn’t passed a Federal Budget in over three years. Why should they worry now as long as the media will blame the GOP? ~Bob.)

Metro woman chases burglars in power chair
Excerpt: “I hollered, ‘Stop thieves!’ Like that,” she said. “And that one went running down the road, so I followed him.” She chased the suspect until he jumped a fence. Once police arrived on scene, she was able to point them in the right direction and positively identify two of the burglars after police caught them. (Fraoch Eilean! Good thing for them she wasn’t packing! ~Bob.)

State secrets revealed in Vietnam. By David Brown
http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Southeast_Asia/NL22Ae06.html
Excerpt: One afternoon in mid-December, Colonel Tran Dang Thanh shared his views on foreign affairs with an audience of deans and professors drawn from Hanoi's many universities. Like all Vietnamese Communist Party business, Thanh's comments were considered state secrets. However, unbeknownst to Thanh, who teaches at Vietnam's top military college, someone in the audience was wired. (Really interesting what this supposed influential communist thinks about a range of subjects. --Del)

The Disqualified Rice Is Preferable To Kerry At State
Excerpt: Marionette Susan Rice could never have functioned as secretary of state. But John Kerry falsely accused U.S. servicemen of war crimes — and contemptuously threw away his military decorations. (So Obama has found another totally objectionable appointment to make, demonstrating yet again both is lack of understanding of so much, and his really terrible view of how to govern. And we are surprised..... why? –Del. Actually he lied about throwing away his military decorations, as he did about releasing his military records. He had them on the wall of his senate office. Threw away some from a flea market or surplus store. ~Bob.)

John Kerry: Obama’s “Perfect Choice” For Secretary of State. By John Perazzo
Excerpt: The historical record informs us that not only has John Kerry been on the wrong side of every major foreign policy issue for most of his adult life, including Iraq, Nicaragua and most recently in Syria, but he has routinely engaged in deception to conceal his folly. What’s worse, Kerry has a clear record of giving aid and comfort to America’s enemies, all the while never missing an opportunity to viciously trash our brave forces fighting against them.

Man who exposed Vatican corruption jailed
This man is a hero in my book. Don Hank

The ObamaCare Fiscal Cliff. By John C. Goodman
Excerpt: In the standoff over the fiscal cliff, all the discussion has been about the Bush tax cuts. There has been no discussion about the ObamaCare tax increases. That's a mistake. Five of the tax increases Americans will face on January 1 are new taxes created under the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare). And they are not just for the very rich. Three of the five will hit people who are solidly middle class.

This Just In: John Wayne Is Dead. By Bernard Goldberg
http://www.bernardgoldberg.com/this-just-in-john-wayne-is-dead/?utm_source=BernardGoldberg.com+Newsletter&utm_campaign=7954eb3156-NEWSLETTER&utm_medium=email
Excerpt: John Wayne is dead and sometimes I think the Republican Party didn’t get the news. We Americans don’t latch onto just any old myth. We pick only the ones that make us feel good about ourselves. So even if it was only the stuff of Hollywood movies, John Wayne became a giant in our culture,... (Unfortunately, I think Bernie is right. So was Lenin. I hate it, but America hasn't been a center-right country for years. It's now a center-left country and is quickly becoming a left-far left country. Lots of reasons for it, but mainly because of leftist indoctrination in the school system and the media, I think. "Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted." -- Vladimir Ilyich Lenin "Destroy the family, you destroy the country." -- Vladimir Ilyich Lenin. The America I grew up in is gone and is not coming back. – LLW)

Excerpt: He got taxed out of town. Legendary advertising guru Jerry Della Femina is the latest Hamptons fat cat to unload his East End spread at the precipice of the dreaded fiscal cliff, The Post has learned.

Excerpt: Tunisia's Interior Minister, Ali Laarayedh, announced during a press conference yesterday (Dec. 21) that authorities have arrested 16 members of a terrorist cell affiliated with al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM). In addition, 18 other members of the group are still being pursued.

The Jewish Grinch Who Stole Christmas. By Burt Prelutsky
Excerpt: I never thought I'd live to see the day that Christmas would become a dirty word. You think it hasn't? Then why is it that people are being prevented from saying it in polite society for fear that it will offend? Why, after 60 years, is the city of Santa Monica, California, no longer allowed to erect its traditional crèche in the palisades overlooking the Pacific Ocean and why is the governor of Rhode Island insisting on calling the state's Christmas tree a holiday tree? (It's odd that so many Jews are among the assorted activists who are determined to define "separation of church and state" as meaning total hostility and intolerance of any signs of Christianity in the public sector. Not remotely what the Founders meant, nor the way any sane person interprets the First Amendment. But off they go, as if the least tolerance of a Christian symbol is a monstrous affront to the very being of this nation. It's illogical, crazy, and actually pretty damn obnoxiously arrogant, but that's how they play it. .... them and the horse they rode in on. --Del)

Why I Support Barack Obama As Time’s Person Of The Year. By Josh Bernstein
Excerpt: No president in our nation’s history has accomplished so little in such a short time. No president has ever been elected to the highest office in the land with less experience. No president has ever been reelected with a record as remarkable as this president’s record.

Here's a bit of a shocker. –Del. Excerpt: At the height of the Nazi Holocaust, the wretched human cargo spilling out of cattle cars onto the platforms of Auschwitz was immediately subject to a brutal selektion by the infamous Dr. Josef Mengele, whose flick of a finger to the left meant immediate death in a gas chamber; to the right, slave labor and slow death from starvation or disease. Fast forward to 2012 Nigeria, where a latter-day incarnation of selektion has been used—this time not against Jews, but against Christians.

New Study Finds CRA 'Clearly' Did Lead To Risky Lending. By Paul Sperry
Excerpt: Democrats and the media insist the Community Reinvestment Act, the anti-redlining law beefed up by President Clinton, had nothing to do with the subprime mortgage crisis and recession. But a new study by the respected National Bureau of Economic Research finds, "Yes, it did. We find that adherence to that act led to riskier lending by banks." (According to the economist Thomas Sowell, PhD. Black-owned banks gave mortgages at high rates to white, because as a group, they had better credit ratings. And both black and white owned banks gave mortgages at higher rates to Asians than to whites, not because of anti-white racism, but because Asians as a group have higher credit ratings. But forcing banks to give mortgages to those who can’t pay wins votes, though it destroys the economy and the minority middle class. Like they care. ~Bob.)

Christian Shot to Death in Somalia: Unknown gunmen kill father of five for leaving Islam.
Didn’t get the “Islam is a religion of peace” MEMO. ~Bob. Excerpt: Two unidentified masked men shot Mursal Isse Siad, 55, outside his home in Beledweyne, 206 miles (332 kilometers) north of Mogadishu, for leaving Islam, Muslim and Christian sources told Morning Star News. The assailants fled immediately after the murder.

Man convicted in imam's 1990 slaying
Most victims of Allahmurder are Muslims. ~Bob. Excerpt: Attorneys for both sides agreed Khalifa, 54, was likely killed because of his religious teachings. After studying the Quran for years, he found a mathematical code and came to believe two verses were satanic. In his English translation of the Quran, he removed those verses. He also taught that people should follow the word of God and not that of human beings.
