Is the Los Angeles Times Committing Suicide?
Excerpt: Careful when you click on those L.A. Times links these days. You get only 15 stories a month, and then they’ll charge you. John Seiler says they’re trying to commit suicide. The L.A. Times would likely point to the Wall Street Journal as an example of a publication that has successfully gone to a pay model. Here’s the problem as Seiler sees it: (The Old Jarhead blog--still your best source of news and commentary at the same low price! ~Bob.)

Gov. Dalrymple: Obama is 'killing energy development'
Excerpt: North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple (R) called on Congress to quickly pass legislation to green-light the Keystone XL oil pipeline, arguing that the Obama administration is “killing energy development.” Dalrymple said Saturday the pipeline – which would carry oil sands crude from Alberta, Canada to refineries on the Gulf Coast – would benefit North Dakota and the rest of the country. The pipeline would run through North Dakota.

The pseudo-left marches away from reason: Cue the mumbo jumbo: Global March to Jerusalem is brought to you by academics, progressives and feminists (as well as misogynists and anti-Semites) By Terry Glavin
Excerpt: To get just a glimpse of the dementia that has crippled the cognitive functioning of what was once the western world’s brave and lively tradition of intellectual dissent, feminist solidarity and progressive internationalism, all you need to do is look in on any one of the dozens of vanity projects being staged across Canada at the moment under the Israeli Apartheid Week marquee. (The toxic cauldron of insanity whose human ingredients are Islamists and the blindered Left have gathered in lovely Vancouver and are described below in their Israeli apartheid activities. I cannot help but conclude that these racists and nut cases are enabled and legitimized by the ostensibly mainstream Left that ascribes sane motivation to jihadists and nihilists. Cordially, Larry Greenberg)

Excerpt: This week, representatives from more than 20 chapters of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) met with elected officials and staff at 113 congressional offices for the Washington-based Muslim civil rights organization's 6th annual Capitol Hill Advocacy Days. (Lobbying for Jihad. ~Bob.)

US military unveils non-lethal heat ray weapon
Excerpt: A sensation of unbearable, sudden heat seems to come out of nowhere -- this wave, a strong electromagnetic beam, is the latest non-lethal weapon unveiled by the US military this week. "You're not gonna see it, you're not gonna hear it, you're not gonna smell it: you're gonna feel it," explained US Marine Colonel Tracy Taffola, director the Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Directorate, Marine Corps Base Quantico, at a demonstration for members of the media.

Obama and Iran: The Man Who Didn't Bluff
Excerpt: Little more than a week ago, President Obama again addressed growing concerns that Iran's Mullahs were preparing nuclear weapons for regional attacks. He insisted that more time be given for diplomacy, noting that, "as president of the United States, I don't bluff." Yet, on May 18, 2009, President Obama was asked about Iran and any deadlines for his “policy of engagement.” He responded: “You know, I don’t want to set an artificial deadline ... We should have a fairly good sense by the end of the year as to whether they are moving in the right direction.” On September 15, 2009, a deadline issued by President Obama for Iran to come to the nuclear negotiating table was ignored by Iran's Mullahs.

Islam's Tradition of Breaking the Cross
Excerpt: This was no "furious mob" on a "rampage," reacting to Koran-burning. These men are methodically, deliberately, and in an organized fashion going about destroying crosses and objects marked with crosses. Their mood seems happy. In the recent destruction of Commonwealth war graves in Benghazi, Libya (YouTube Video), you can see not just the desecration of graves, but attacks on crosses. The radical Muslims who are kicking over and smashing headstones marked with crosses (and one with a Star of David), also took pains to demolish a tall "Cross of Sacrifice" standing at the edge of the cemetery.

Exclusive: U.N. Won’t Back Down on Iran Nuclear Inspections
Excerpt: The U.N. nuclear agency will not back off its demand to visit the Parchin military site even if this escalates the confrontation with Iran over its alleged nuclear-weapons work, the agency’s head Yukiya Amano told Newsweek/The Daily Beast in an exclusive interview. “We’ll pursue this objective until there’s a concrete result,” Amano said in an interview Friday in Vienna in his spacious office on the top floor of the 28-story United Nations building, which towers over the Danube River. The 64-year-old veteran Japanese diplomat has proved to be increasingly tough on Iran since taking over the International Atomic Energy Agency in December 2009. (I find it interesting that Daily Beast, in its ten-item "cheat sheet" summary of "important" news, lists this EXCLUSIVE interview not in the first five--which all have brief summaries--even though it is clearly more immediately important than three of the chosen "top five"--or even as the first of the less-important articles, but instead as eighth of the ten items with nothing except the title and one line of description. I wonder if they are disappointed with the story or its implications. Ron P.)

Who’s Afraid of an Article V Amendments Convention?
Excerpt: “People should fear the status quo of out of control spending more than they should fear an Article V Amendments convention,” Wittich said. Senator Olafson expanded, “For those who preach fear about a runaway convention, we have a runaway convention right here in front of our eyes, it is a runaway Congress with out of control spending, czars, and Obamacare. (This is an interesting possibility. This could be a good start, though perhaps a majority of states should be able to void ANY law passed by Congress, not just debt-increase measures.. There are a few other Amendments I’d support: banning regulation without specific Congressional votes of authorization-approval and Presidential signature (the exact opposite of what we currently have); prohibition of requirements on states or other governmental bodies to spend money Congress doesn’t provide; forbidding the transfer of wealth from one citizen to another without equal recompense; repeal of the direct taxation of income; prohibition of fiat money (so the government can’t inflate the currency); term limits for all national offices (including appointive offices and the bureaucracy). No doubt I could come up with a dozen more, none of which have any chance of being passed into effect. What do you think? Note that unless each state authorized all the proposed Amendments, each would require its own convention, which isn’t going to happen. Ron P.)

Gainsborough man jailed over anti-Islam images in his flat window
Muslim sensibilities trump freedom of speech in the UK, We're next. And if you preach another religion, are you not " attacking both the prophet Mohammed and the Muslim religion"? ~Bob. Excerpt: The court was told on Tuesday that carer Conway had covered the front window of his ground floor flat in Heaton Street in Gainsborough with 17 photographs and posters. Many were offensive – attacking both the prophet Mohammed and the Muslim religion.

The Influence Industry: Obama gives administration jobs to some big fundraisers
Excerpt: Big donors considering whether to work the phones raising money for President Obama’s reelection campaign might consider the fate of his 2008 bundlers. Many of them, it turns out, won plum jobs in his administration. Obama campaigned on what he called “the most sweeping ethics reform in history” and has frequently criticized the role of money in politics. That hasn’t stopped him from offering government jobs to some of his biggest bundlers, volunteer fundraisers who gather political contributions from other rich donors.

Crony Socialism: Obama Gives $737 Million to Solar Firm Linked to the Pelosi Clan
Looting the taxpayers--It's the Chicago Way. ~Bob. Excerpt: Team Obama is spending $737 million to create 45 permanent jobs.

Mexican hypocrisy over treatment of immigrants
Allan Wall is one of the few who pay attention to this issue of how Mexicans treat their immigrants. We need to pay attention because this is rank hypocrisy:
But it doesn't stop at mere abuse of immigrants in Mexico. Remember the murders of immigrants in Tamaulipas? The Mexican Archdiocese had accused the Mexican government (the people our presidents schmooze with) and immigration authorities of complicity:
It is telling that writers like Allan Wall and I, who have lived in Latin America and speak Spanish, are the most insistent that the American government's de facto open borders policy toward all and sundry is dangerous and irresponsible. It is in part the intimate knowledge of the double standard that exists in Mexico regarding US immigration policy vs. Mexican immigration policy that troubles Americans with intimate knowledge of, and experience with, Latin America. How about this: The US adopts and enforces the same immigration laws as Mexico and Mexico stops pretending that we are the ones who mistreat immigrants? --Don Hank

SHOCK POLL: Romney 48% Obama 43%
Excerpt: With the perception growing that he will be the GOP nominee, Romney leads President Obama by five points in a hypothetical 2012 matchup. Today’s numbers show Romney at 48%, Obama at 43%. That’s Romney’s largest lead since December.
