Update on my latest lung surgery
Wanted to post a
couple of things on the Ukraine, which is moving fast. Posting from the hospital, on borrowed
computer, so will likely be off line until after the second surgery Thursday.
Obama plans to bring
Russia to heal with sanctions—because they worked so well in Iraq and Iran. I
expect he will soon blame this crisis, or at least the China Subway Assault
Knife Murders by Muslims on a YouTube video. ~Bob
Obama has limited
leverage over Putin in Ukraine crisis
Excerpt: Western
Europe has more robust economic ties with Russia but is already showing
reluctance over strong economic action against Russia. The BBC reported Monday
that Downing Street concludes "the U.K. should not support for now trade
sanctions or close" London's financial center to Russians. The Germans
have also balked at cutting off Russian oil and natural gas trade with the
European Union, which gets roughly 25% of its natural gas from Russia.

Putin says he can use force in Ukraine, NATO, Russia to meet.

Excerpt: Russian President Vladimir Putin insisted Tuesday
that he can use as much force as necessary to protect Russians in Ukraine as
NATO and Russia agreed to meet over Russia's intervention in the Ukrainian
province of Crimea.
Obama in denial on Russia.

Excerpt: In 2012, Obama mocked Mitt Romney for his claim that the Russians are
our "No. 1 geopolitical foe," and scoffed: "The 1980s are now
calling to ask for their foreign policy back."
That scorn looks embarrassing enough given recent events.
But the truth is Obama's hostility to Romney's policies had little to do with
them being outdated. Obama didn't like America's Cold War policies during the
Cold War.
