NH Union Leader editorial: Experience counts in matters large and small
Excerpt: Rubin also quoted from an interview that Gov. Perry gave to National Review this spring. We think it worth noting here: "Having worn the uniform and having been a governor of a state with a substantial military force, and managing the Texas National Guard -all that experience, you only receive that one way, and that is having been in that spot and making those decisions. No one handed me a manual that says, 'Here's how to deal with the Space Shuttle disintegrating over your state.' No one says, 'Here's how to deal with a massive influx of people from a neighboring state fleeing a major hurricane (Katrina). 'Here's how you handle a crisis on your border with people flooding in.' 'Here's how you handle a major disease (Ebola cases.")

Papering the Room: Having Trouble, Hillary? Free Tickets To Fundraiser Send Bad Message. By Philip Devoe
Excerpt: Virginia Democrats were offered free tickets Friday to the annual Jefferson-Jackson dinner in Virginia, Hillary Clinton’s first campaign stop in the critical swing state. In an email leaked to Business Insider, supporters of Clinton’s campaign in Virginia were given a chance to forego the $30 price for tickets to the event, as long as they provide the code included in the email. The event was intended to support democratic fundraising for the state, but Clinton’s appearance and speech are geared toward garnering support among East Coast Democrats. An operative for a 2016 Republican candidate took a shot at the Democratic frontrunner, referencing the irony surrounding her previous PR disaster of her speech prices. “How bad is it out there for Hillary? She’s gone from paid speeches to paying people to hear her speeches.” (Jackson was a slave owner who conducted a genocide against the Cherokee in the "Trail of Tears" that he profited from. Naturally the Democrats want to honor him and keep him on the $20 bill. ~Bob)

What goes around: San Fran Today: NO Housing/Too Expensive Housing—NO Water—Which is WORSE?
Excerpt: San Fran is the most expensive city in the nation—highest taxes, highest housing and apartment costs. With the minimum wage going up to $15 an hour, more of the poor will be unemployed. Now reality is hitting the San Fran community. “In San Francisco, the epicenter of housing concern for the whole Bay Area, finding an affordable place to live ranked higher than worries about California’s extreme drought in the 2015 Bay Area Council Poll. (Liberal rent control and green spaces killed the housing market, liberal environmentalists killed efforts to expand the water supply. Elections have long term consequences--as the whole country is finding out. ~Bob)

Excerpt: Byron Thomas, a black student from South Carolina, spoke with CNN’s Hala Gorani this week regarding the way he views the Confederate flag, and the reporter was noticeably shocked when he stood up for the symbol of the South. ... “I do not feel offended and I refuse to allow a symbol or word have power over me to make me feel offended,” explained Thomas, who has his own Confederate flag hanging in his room.

I am a black South Carolinian. Here’s why I support the Confederate flag. I hang the Confederate flag in my home. But that doesn't mean it should fly over our statehouse. By Byron Thomas
Excerpt: Four years ago, I became a national news story after I hung a Confederate flag in my dorm room window at the University of South Carolina Beaufort. Controversy wasn’t my intention. For me and many Southerners, the flag celebrates my heritage and regional pride. One of my ancestors, Benjamin Thomas, was a black Confederate cook, and I do not want to turn my back on his service to the South. So I hang the flag in honor of his hard work and dedication to South Carolina during the Civil War. My Confederate flag isn’t racist; after all, I am black. I’m also an American who strongly believes in the constitutional right to free speech.

Slave labor in America today
Excerpt: Foreign workers, lured by false promises of good jobs in America, soon find themselves enslaved in plain sight as victims of labor trafficking, according to a new report published by the nonpartisan Urban Institute and Northeastern University. About half of these workers pay "recruitment" fees to traffickers -- often thousands of dollars -- that can leave them stuck in debt for years. And while some victims are smuggled here, a majority - or 71% - actually enter the United States with a visa, the report found. The International Labour Organization estimates that there are roughly 21 million people worldwide who are victims of forced labor, but there are no official estimates of how prevalent labor trafficking is in the United States.

Isis Expansion Along U.S. Borders
