General News and Comment

Clinton to Fundraise at L.A. House of Tax Evading Clinton Foundation Donor. Senate report: Peter Lowy held $68 million in offshore tax haven
Excerpt: Hillary Clinton will attend a $2,700-a-plate luncheon on Friday at the Beverly Hills home of a man who was investigated by the Senate for hiding $68 million in assets in an offshore tax haven. Peter Lowy, who was born in Australia but is a U.S. citizen, is chief executive officer of the Westfield, one of the world’s largest owners of shopping malls. The company was founded by his father, Frank Lowy, and is controlled by the Lowy family. The family came under fire in 2008 when a report from then-Sens. Carl Levin (D., Mich.) and Norm Coleman (R., Minn.) alleged that the Lowys were hiding $68 million in a Lichtenstein tax haven called the LGT Group.

Liberal Reporter: Hillary Clinton “Has Not been Consistently saying Anything for 30 Years." by Onan Coco
Excerpt: Liberal journalist Rebecca Traister of the New Republic appeared on MSNBC’s NOW with Alex Wagner where she told the host that Hillary Clinton had not been consistently saying anything for the last 30 years. In fact, she argued that many of the things that Hillary was saying 30 years ago, she stopped saying about 25 years ago, and continued changing what she was saying throughout her political career. It’s not until recently that she began saying some of the things that she was also saying 30 years ago.

Hillary's Bad History
Excerpt: “President Roosevelt called on every American to do his or her part, and every American answered.” (Really? In 1944, the Army had a higher desertion rate than in the worst year in Vietnam. ~Bob)

Hillary Clinton Takes Stance As The Untrustworthy Candidate Who Cares. By John Sexton
Excerpt: As poll watchers are aware, Hillary Clinton is doing poorly in polls which rate her honesty. A piece published Wednesday by Time magazine suggests her campaign thinks she can overcome that deficit by being the candidate who cares. Quinnipiac polling in three states (Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania) found Hillary was underwater on the question of honesty. In Florida, she was judged not trustworthy by 51-43. In Ohio, it was 53-40. And in Pennsylvania, she did worst of all at 54-40. That follows the trend identified in earlier national polls since the email-server scandal broke.

Jim Webb: Veteran would make best commander in chief
Excerpt: Democratic presidential hopeful Jim Webb declined to say what he thinks Hillary Clinton's vulnerabilities are, saying it's up to Iowans to decide if they want her as commander in chief or someone with a history of combat duty, defense leadership and foreign service like he has. "Iowa is the key state in terms of having these conversations," he told opinion writers on The Des Moines Register's editorial board on Tuesday.

If You’re Going To Fake A Rape, Remember To Take Off Your Fitbit. By Jim Treacher
Excerpt: As we all know, rape is such a horrible crime that it doesn’t matter whether or not a particular rape actually happened. Rape hoaxes are so exceedingly rare that we should dismiss any evidence that contradicts a rape accusation. If we don’t, we’re rape deniers and we’re perpetuating rape culture. Way to go, Fitbit. Way to hate women. ... A knife and bottle of vodka also were found at the home where a woman claimed she was raped by a stranger at midnight. Further investigating – including a review of a Fitbit activity tracker – showed the scene was staged and 43-year-old Jeannine Risley knowingly filed a false report, police allege… (Women don't lie about rape, feminists say...unless they are accusing Bill Clinton. ~Bob)

Green Berets, SEALs, and now Raiders: Marine Corps resurrects name of legendary elite units
Excerpt: The Marines will rename several special operations units as Marine Raiders at a ceremony Friday, resurrecting a moniker made famous by World War II units that carried out risky amphibious and guerrilla operations. The exploits of the original Marine Raiders — who pioneered tactics used by present-day special forces — were captured in books and movies including "Gung Ho!" in 1943 and "Marine Raiders" in 1944. The name will give a unique identity to the Marines' branch of U.S. Special Operations Command, which includes special forces from the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. The Marines' Special Operations Command, known as MARSOC, was formed more than a decade ago as part of the global fight against terrorism.

The Ongoing Tragedy of Post-Apartheid South Africa. By Arnold Ahlert
Excerpt: Few things are more disturbing than the collaborative media silence that attends the ongoing disintegration of post-apartheid South Africa. The nation’s ruling African National Congress (ANC), led by President Jacob Zuma, is the essence of corruption in a nation with one of the highest rates of rape in the world, and a murder rate best described last September by MP Dianne Kohler Barnard of the Democratic Alliance, the nation’s second largest political party. “We have 47 murders a day,” she said. “That sort of figure is what one would expect in a war zone.”

Russia warns Sweden it will face military action if it joins NATO. By Zachary Davies Boren
Excerpt: Russia would take military "countermeasures" if Sweden were to join Nato, according to the Russian ambassador. In an interview with Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter, Viktor Tatarinstev warned against joining the Nato alliance, saying there would be "consequences". Decrying what he called an "aggressive propaganda campaign" by the media, Tatarinstev stressed that "Sweden is not a target for our armed troops".

Sweden is a Silly Place by V the K at
Excerpt: Not that anyone has been paying attention, but there has been some Neo-Soviet aggression taking place in northern Europe, including submarine intrusions into Swedish water and practice bombing runs against Swedish targets. I realize this is less interesting than the breaking news that Caitlyn Jenner has learned to queef, but indulge me. [I looked that word up and I'm not saying what it means. --Kate.]

Unanimous Supreme Court Rules Govt Can't Judge Speech Based on How 'Worthy' It Is
Excerpt: A Supreme Court ruling on speech might have implications for Christians who object to serving people who engage in same-sex marriage since "speech" is the issue. A baker has no problem selling a cake to someone who identifies as homosexual and engages in same-sex sexuality, but that same baker should have the freedom to refuse to make a cake for an event that she finds objectionable. Similarly, a baker who opposes the ownership of guns, should not be forced to make a cake for the NRA or Gun Owners of America. The free speech rights of both groups are thus protected.

Nietzsche's 'Ressentiment' Alive and Well Today. By Jonah Goldberg
Excerpt: “God,” Friedrich Nietzsche famously declared, “is dead.” God, it has been noted, made a similar yet more lasting pronouncement about Nietzsche. But before the German philosopher departed this mortal coil, he had some interesting things to say. Nietzsche argued that one of the most powerful forces in society was “ressentiment.” Similar to the everyday word “resentment,” ressentiment lay at the heart of new kinds of morality. In ancient times, nobility was associated with power. The downtrodden, the poor, the weak, the enslaved were ignoble.

Sleeping rough in London: Number of homeless immigrants sleeping on London's streets soars
Excerpt: In total, 3039 people who are homeless in London come from European countries – a startling 40 per cent against, against the 42 per cent who are British nationals. The British government has been criticised from those on the political right for introducing the “open door immigration” policy with Europe, after the signing of the Lisbon Treaty in 2004. On January 1st 2014, the door also opened to people from Romania and Bulgaria, leading to an immigrant crime across major metropolitan areas.

Versailles: Vandals Spray Paint 'Vagina of the Queen' Sculpture
Excerpt: ( Some) French people, as it turns out, really don't like it when you install a giant sculpture outside the Palace of Versailles and obliquely compare it to Marie Antoinette's vagina.

Lesbos: Greek Island Swamped by Refugee Flood; No Relief in Sight
Excerpt: Every day in Lesbos, (it's like) a new village is born," said Spryos Galinos, the mayor of Lesbos. "The numbers overwhelm us." A police-run registration and temporary housing center set up in former army barracks outside the village of Moira quickly reached its capacity of 600, so Galinos arranged tents outside to house the overflow. He also set up a second tent camp just outside Mytilene, in a former recreational area used to teach children about road safety. But that, too, is filled way beyond capacity, with rudimentary conditions. "If the flow doesn't stop, we can't cope," Galinos said. "I'm making efforts (but) I create a center for 400 people, and then 700 arrive in one day."

The Creepy Consequences of Oppression Chic by Michele Malkin
Excerpt: In my junior year of college, I realized that I didn't have the grades or test scores to get into medical school, at least not as an Indian-American," he wrote. "So, I shaved my head, trimmed my long Indian eyelashes and applied to medical school as a black man. ... Vijay the Indian-American frat boy become Jojo the African-American Affirmative Action applicant to medical school." From the moment they apply to the nation's elite institutions of higher learning, applicants are rewarded for playing up racial division, ethnic strife and identity politics. "I told Harvard I was an undocumented immigrant," Dario Guerrero bragged in The Washington Post last fall. "They gave me a full scholarship."

What do Wikipedia, Bing, Reddit, and the FBI Have in Common.
Excerpt: Wikimedia, Microsoft's Bing search engine, reddit, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation each announced plans to protect their site visitors by using secure HTTPS connections by default—or have already adopted this policy. Using an HTTPS connection helps protect the privacy of what people are doing online—making them more willing to read and write about controversial topics. It stops network operators from easily snooping on users' reading habits, profiling the users' activity within sites, invisibly altering or censoring web site content, or even injecting malware.

Important: Pentagon Building Cruise Missile Shield To Defend US Cities From Russia. By Marcus Weisgerber
Excerpt: The Pentagon is quietly working to set up an elaborate network of defenses to protect American cities from a barrage of Russian cruise missiles. The plan calls for buying radars that would enable National Guard F-16 fighter jets to spot and shoot down fast and low-flying missiles.

America’s Drone Pilot Shrink Says They Need a Vacation From War. By Patrick Tucker
Excerpt: “Doc,” one of America’s few practicing psychologists with top-secret clearance, spends his days talking to drone pilots. ... He is frustrated, he said, that some people picture the pilots as disengaged, mindlessly blasting away at targets like a kid playing Halo. “Nothing could be further from the truth. They are physiologically engaged with what’s going on,” he says. Nor are they burn-outs, shell-shocked by scenes of war. “The vast majority of folks aren’t being traumatized by what they’re seeing,” says Doc. The absence of trauma, however, is not the same as the presence of happiness.

The Fed is Now Officially in VERY Serious Trouble
Excerpt: And given that rates have generally been trending down for over 30 years, betting on cheap money became one of the easiest trades in the world. And that is how you get to where we are today: with a global bond bubble with over $555 trillion in derivatives trading based on it....The Fed cannot and will not raise rates any significant amount without risking a Crisis that would make 2008 look like a picnic (the CDO market which caused 2008 was a mere $50-60 trillion in size by comparison).

Inflation Rages on, Beef Hits New Record High
Excerpt: Unfortunately, as is now common knowledge to anyone who follows reality or John Williams' Shadowstats, government numbers are manipulated, bogus and down right shady. Last year, one food category that received special attention, due to the love that North Americans have with the product, was beef. Inflation in beef prices last year were raging, up 24% year over year, a shockingly high number to be officially reported, especially when at the same time, the FED is stating that inflation is "too low".

Why is a Chinese tycoon building a $50 billion canal in Nicaragua that no one wants?
Excerpt: A Chinese billionaire is building one of the world’s largest engineering projects, a canal in Nicaragua that is three times the size of world’s largest, the Panama Canal, and is estimated to cost at least $50 billion. Of the many Chinese infrastructure projects spanning the globe, the new canal seems to make the least commercial sense. Few shipping industry observers forecast a need for a second canal in the region, and the canal is being built to accommodate extra-large bulk cargo ships that aren’t commonly used yet, and may never be popular. As initial construction for the project gets underway, violent protests are breaking out among Nicaraguans who object to losing their land or seeing Central America’s largest freshwater lake, Lake Nicaragua, be dredged. A Chinese-managed canal would give the country a foothold in a region that has traditionally been within the United States’ sphere of influence. The projected depth of the canal, 28 meters, is more than twice the Panama Canal, and deep enough to allow Chinese submarines to secretly cross over to the Atlantic Ocean from the Pacific, as Foreign Policy observed last month.

In the path of ‘progress.’ By Tim Johnson
Excerpt: Everything in the path of the proposed trans-oceanic canal in Nicaragua would have to be relocated. Churches. Cemeteries. Stockyards. As many as 28,000 people scattered in villages and towns face the likelihood that their lands would be expropriated. The government pledges they will be better off, living in new settlements with a bit of cash in their pockets. But skepticism abounds. Ranchers are angry. They’ve held 44 marches and rallies in the past nine months. A few events have turned violent.

Important: Scientists question Nicaraguan canal in newly released report. By Joann C. Adkins
Excerpt: A group of international scientists have released their findings about a proposed trans-isthmus shipping canal in Nicaragua, raising concerns about environmental impact and lack of information. The scientists' report is available for download in English and Spanish. The mega project would be built by the Nicaraguan government with the Hong Kong Nicaragua Canal Development Company (HKND) and would exceed the Panama Canal in both size and capacity. The environmental assessment report was conducted by Environmental Resources Management (ERM), a consultant firm hired by HKND. The scientists convened at Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, Fla. in the spring of 2015 to review excerpts of the environmental impact assessment commissioned as part of the planning process for the canal. (Why aren't American environmentalists raising hell about China's Nicaraguan canal? Perhaps because it is being built by the Chinese Communists, for the Sandinista government? ~Bob)

China Warns War May Be Coming With US. By John Blosser
Excerpt: The buildup of Chinese naval power in the South China Sea and recent groundbreaking on two island lighthouses are elevating tensions between the U.S. and China over the disputed region. The release of a new white paper, "China’s Military Strategy," which indicates China plans to broaden its influence over the South China Sea, noting that the People's Liberation Army (PLA) will be adding "open seas protection" to "offshore waters defense" in its naval mission, is straining nerves in the U.S., where Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter has instructed his staff to come up with ways in which the United States can confront China's actions, Bloomberg News reports.  ... In a briefing, PLA senior Col. Wang Jin commented, "The maritime battlefield has been broadened, and China’s navy needs to react to protect its rights globally," Bloomberg noted.

China’s Spies Hit the Blackmail Jackpot With Data on 4 Million Federal Workers. If you’ve ever held a security clearance with Uncle Sam, Chinese hackers now have all your personal info—and from debt to dirty money, they won’t be shy about causing mayhem with it. John R. Schindler
Excerpt: With each passing day the U.S. government’s big hacking scandal gets worse. Just what did hackers steal from the Office of Personnel Management? Having initially assured the public that the loss was not all that serious, OPM’s data breach now looks very grave. The lack of database encryption appears foolhardy, while OPM ignoring repeated warnings about its cyber vulnerabilities implies severe dysfunction in Washington. ... Here’s where things start to get scary. Whoever has OPM’s records knows an astonishing amount about millions of federal workers, members of the military, and security clearance holders. They can now target those Americans for recruitment or influence. After all, they know their vices, every last one—the gambling habit, the inability to pay bills on time, the spats with former spouses, the taste for something sexual on the side—since all that is recorded in security clearance paperwork. (To get an idea of how detailed this gets, you can see the form, called an SF86, here.) Speaking as a former counterintelligence officer, it really doesn’t get much worse than this.

Office Of Personnel Management It Was Running Out Of ....China
Excerpt: Presumably that means the Chinese raiders were able to cadge valid credentials from system users through some variety of human-intelligence and phishing tactics. Once good user names and passwords were in hand, there was basically nothing to stop the intruders, because the interior of the OPM system is a time capsule back to Nineteen Seventy Something. It was revealed in testimony that they’re still running legacy systems more than 20 years old processing COBOL code, so there’s essentially no way to update them to anything resembling modern security standards for remote access. (Government can't even protect itself, let alone those who work for it or its citizens.....Reassuring, with Obamacare's permanent database of anything entered. --Barb)

Background Check: Authorities: The Charleston Shooter Bought His Gun in a Store
Excerpt: This means that he passed a background check — a background check of precisely the sort that gun control advocates wish to extend to all transactions.

Charleston Church Massacre Happened In Gun-Free Zone. By Kerry Picket
Excerpt: The Charleston, S.C., church massacre is already drawing comparisons to the tragedies at the Sandy Hook School in Newtown, Conn., and at a movie theater in Aurora, Colo. because it happened in a gun-free zone. Although South Carolina is one of several states around the country that issue concealed carry licenses on a “shall issue” basis, legal gun owners are not permitted to carry their firearms into places of worship.

Here We Go Again: Left Pounces on Gun Control in Wake of Charleston Tragedy. By Katie Pavlich
Excerpt: Less than 24-hours after a racist young white man killed nine black members of the Emanuel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, South Carolina Wednesday night, the left took the opportunity to immediately politicize the tragedy with a push for more gun control.
First, President Obama made a statement from the White House claiming violence like this "doesn't happen in other advanced countries" and blamed easy access to a firearm for the tragedy. (Strict gun control doesn't seem to prevent murder in Chicago, Baltimore or New York, or in the train bombings in London and Spain, or the Charlie Hebro attack in France. ~Bob)

Colorado Springs vs. Charleston: The Church Massacre That Ended Differently. By Katie Pavlich
Excerpt: In 2007, former police officer Jeanne Assam was working as a plain clothed security guard at New Life Church in Colorado Springs. When a man showed up on Sunday armed to the teeth and ready to carry out a massacre, Assam drew her weapon and stopped him before he could kill anyone inside

VIDEO: CJ Pearson SLAMS Obama for SC comments
Excerpt: You remember CJ Pearson? He’s the young man who asked whether President Obama really loved America a few months ago. His video went viral. Well, he’s baaaack. And this time he has some strong words about Obama’s immediate politicization of the tragic shootings in South Carolina. This one should go viral too.

Important: If You Look at This Chart of Top 10 Nations in the World for Mass Shootings – One Thing Jumps Out
Excerpt: The bottom line: The United States falls from number one due to its frequency of 38 mass shootings from January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2013 (which would be number one without correcting for population) to number seven. (Top five all have strict gun control. ~Bob)

5 Things Obama Didn’t Mention When He Blamed America for the Charleston Shooting
Excerpt: President Obama delivered a speech addressing the nation on the tragic shooting that tilted towards condemnation of the U.S.’ gun culture. At one point in the speech, he specifically blamed America for giving rise to the tragic shooting: But let’s be clear: At some point, we as a country will have to reckon with the fact that this type of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries. It doesn’t happen in other places with this kind of frequency. Feeding into the public perception that gun violence and mass shootings are exploding in frequency is both the selective politicization of random events of gun violence, and media omission of basic statistics that give fuller context. There are a number of stark facts that contradict this political narrative.

Excerpt: This morning we read about the three gentlemen in Fort Worth, Texas who decided their fortune should change so they went to a local convenience store with their two shotguns. When they politely asked the store’s owner for his wallet, you know, so the owner could make a donation to their endeavors, he instead pulled his own gun and ventilated the nearest fellow who proceeded to DRT (die right there). The other two fellows, the guys with the shotguns, quickly reevaluated their futures and un-assed the AO as quickly as possible.

Excerpt: He ignores the fact that this was yet another example where a massacre took place in a Gun Free Zone. "We don't have all the facts, but we do know that, once again, innocent people were killed in part because someone who wanted to inflict harm had no trouble getting their hands on a gun," Obama said. To the contrary, armed civilians have actually prevented several mass shootings from occurring -- and some of them in churches. Consider:

Maybe It's Not a 'Gun Problem.' By Mark Alexander
Excerpt: Moreover, other countries have not deliberately institutionalized urban poverty plantations, which have become mass breeding grounds for such violence. That is the inconvenient truth Obama will never mention. Alveda King, NAACP member, Christian civil rights activist and niece of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr., acutely observes, “To politicize this by calling for gun control — we already know that gun control is not going to stop the violence. Only a change of heart is going to do that.”

Allen West: What the Mainstream Media WON'T Tell You About Mass Shootings
Excerpt: There are about 319 million people in the United States, so that means there are about 118 million gun owners in this nation. Mother Jones reports there have been 69 mass shootings in the last 30 years. The Washington Post says, a Congressional Research Service report published in 2013 counted 78 incidents over roughly the same period, in which 547 were killed.
That means, out of 118 million gun owners, 78 or .00007 percent of the gun owning population are potential mass murderers (using a 30-year total).

Race Card News

Joyce Ann Brown, Shackled by Her Name to Another’s Crime, Dies at 68
Excerpt: But as things played out, it was her greatest misfortune of all simply to have been named Joyce Ann Brown. Ms. Brown, who died on Saturday at 68, was a former Dallas receptionist who in a racially charged case that became a national cause célèbre spent nearly a decade in prison for a crime she did not commit.

A National Tragedy and a Partisan Response. By Daniel Greenfield
Excerpt: Why do black lives only seem to matter when white people take them? Why does the president of the United States think it’s proper to take a horrible racial tragedy in Charleston South Carolina as an excuse to bash America as the violence capital of the “advanced” world, and a prop for Democrats’ lust for gun control legislation in a state that already has it?
Last year 82 people were shot over the Fourth of July weekend in Chicago16 of them died. The victims and the shooters were black. It is a shameless new frontier in the political exploitation of a human tragedy diminishing both the black victims and their black and white mourners alike. But for Obama, politics is the priority. The mourning is secondary. And forget about the healing.

SOOPERMEXICAN: VIDEO: "White Liberals Fuel Racism!" - Great Rant by Libertarian Black Guy on Evil Church Murders
Excerpt: He makes some great points about the liberal response, which makes it seem as if all white people approve of the evil acts in Charleston yesterday. They would rather divide us by blaming all white people rather than seeing how much true profound sorrow is found from all Americans, black and white, conservative and liberal.

Dylann Roof Charged With 9 Counts Of Murder
Excerpt: Dylann Roof, the man accused of killing nine people at a Charleston, South Carolina, church on Wednesday, has been charged with nine counts of homicide and possession of a firearm during commission of a violent crime. Roof confessed to the crime, unnamed law enforcement officials told CNN Friday. (Once again, I volunteer for the firing squad and will bring my own rifle and ammo to keep costs down. ~Bob)

Colin Flaherty: American Witness: Violence Against Non-Blacks
Excerpt: Colin Flaherty needs no introduction to AT readers, who have for some time been reading his reportage on one of the most severe and intractable racial problems of our epoch – a problem that has been ignored by other writers and reporters in virtually all branches of the media. This problem, of course, is the massive and unparalleled surge in racial violence over the last decade or so, in which the entire country has been wracked with violent assaults included beatings, mobbings, and murder aimed at non-black races and ethnic groups -- with a particular emphasis on whites -- by certain elements among the black population. Characterized by such terms as “the knockout game” or “polar-bear hunting,” this plague of violence has been ignored by media, government, academics, and the civil-rights establishment.

Excerpt: Later, Stewart addressed the hypocrisy of South Carolina’s reverence for its Confederate and deeply racist past. “Nine people were shot in a black church by a white guy who hated them who wanted to start some sort of civil war,” he said. “The confederate flag flies over South Carolina. And the roads are named for confederate generals. And the white guy is the one who feels like his country is being taken away from him. We’re bringing it on ourselves. And that’s the thing—al Qaeda, ISIS, they’re not shit compared to the damage we can do to ourselves on a regular basis.” (South Carolina also elected an Asian governor and a black US senator. but they are Republicans, so it doesn't count. ~Bob)

THIS Black Woman Just Did the UNTHINKABLE...and Democrats are SCARED by Allen West
Excerpt: Mayor Taylor is originally from Brooklyn, New York, and becomes a non-Hispanic mayor of a majority Hispanic city — just as last year one Will Hurd defeated Rep. Pete Gallegos in the congressional district that encompasses a good portion of San Antonio. And just how did this happen in the city of Julian Castro — the former mayor, current HUD secretary and keynote speaker at the 2012 Democrat National Committee convention? Ivy’s rising popularity with the local conservative and evangelical communities — black and white, Protestant and Catholic — outraged the power-brokers of the Castro machine. It got even worse when she announced her candidacy for a full-term. Ernesto Ancira, a widely-known local business leader, became her campaign treasurer. He told me, “San Antonio has long been dominated by congressmen, judges and entrenched business interests. But Ivy Taylor was something different.”

Are Obamacare’s 22 Health Insurance Co-ops Near Financial Collapse? By Richard Pollock
Excerpt: Ominous signs are proliferating among 22 Obamacare health insurance co-ops of imminent financial collapses that could leave more than a million Americans without coverage, according to a Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group analysis. All but one of the federally funded co-ops are experiencing accelerating net losses. President Obama’s signature health care reform program established the co-ops to provide non-profit competition to private sector health insurance providers. Many of the 22 co-ops could soon follow an Obamacare co-op that defaulted earlier this year, suffering $163 million in operating losses in a single year. That collapse left 120,000 customers without coverage on Christmas Eve.

Carson: Immigration is not only issue Latinos care about
Excerpt: Dr. Ben Carson pushed back against assumptions that Latinos only care about immigration reform and preached unity during a speech Wednesday at a conference of Latino public officials. The 2016 Republican presidential contender opened by telling the crowd at the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials conference that many people advised him explicitly focus on immigration during his remarks. “They said, ‘Latino elected officials, you need to talk about immigration.’ But that’s like when I go speak to an African-American group and they say you need to talk to government entitlements. Give me a break,” he said.

Has the Left Reached Its Jump the Shark moment? by Lloyd Marcus
Excerpt: [Mary Ann Mendoza] is the mother of Mesa, Arizona police Sgt. Brandon Mendoza who was killed by an illegal alien. Ms. Mendoza wrote a letter to Obama regarding him pandering to illegals while ignoring Americans harmed by them. The interviewer warned Ms. Mendoza that some will call her racist, a hater of Hispanics. Ms. Mendoza's thrilling reply was, “I don't care what they call me”. I thought. “Right on sister!” We are all feeling the intense heat of the Left throwing down the gauntlet to beat up on anyone who dares to speak the truth on any issue in America. If I say I feel that I'm a table trapped in a black male body, people know they had better not challenge my absurd proclamation; lest they suffer the wrath of the Left for being insensitive, hurting my feelings.

Mark Zuckerberg's Cynical Ploy to Get Cheap Foreign Labor
Excerpt: Over the past year, hundreds of American tech workers have been fired and subjected to the further humiliation of being forced, as a condition of the severance package, to train their foreign replacements. Southern California Edison was the first to hit the news for this conduct; Fossil also replaced its Americans with foreigners. The most notable example happened at Disney, whose theme-parks division in October replaced some 250 American workers with cheaper foreigners on visas, whom the Americans had to train to do their jobs. The contrast between Disney’s “Happiest Place on Earth” image and this perfidy prompted even the maniacally open-borders New York Times to give it front-page attention.

Mexico Now Deporting More Central American Immigrants Than the United States
Excerpt: Mexico now deports more Central American migrants than the United States, a dramatic shift since the U.S. asked Mexico for help a year ago with a spike in illegal migration, especially among unaccompanied minors. Between October and April, Mexico apprehended 92,889 Central Americans. In the same time period, the United States detained 70,226 "other than Mexican" migrants, the vast majority from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.

No One Fired for Releasing 65,000 Criminal Aliens Onto Our Streets: 'We are in the middle of an invasion & we're holding the door for the invaders'
Excerpt: Just two days ago, [Katie] Pavlich published a column on 121 criminal aliens who had an active case at the time of their release and were subsequently charged with homicide-related offenses. Here’s a shocker. Are you sitting down?

Editorial: A border protection policy to be proud of. The Courier-Mail, Australia
Excerpt: WHEN Tony Abbott made his signature pledge to “stop the boats” before the 2013 election he was mocked by the usual suspects of legal activists, human rights campaigners, political opponents and kneejerk commentators – most of whom hardly raised a whisper during the six years of policy failure under Labor. We were told it would either destroy relations with Indonesia or prove ineffective as a deterrent. There were some ruffled and bruised egos in the diplomatic cables from Jakarta but the statistics soon showed the rhetoric of the naysayers to be nothing more than waste water and wind. As Prime Minister Tony Abbott has said repeatedly in recent days, what really matters in this debate is stopping the boats.

Worth Reading: A New Strategy for Iraq and Syria. By Charles Krauthammer
Excerpt: It’s time for a new strategy in Iraq and Syria. It begins by admitting that the old borders are gone, that a unified Syria or Iraq will never be reconstituted, that the Sykes-Picot map is defunct. We may not want to enunciate that policy officially. After all, it does contradict the principle that colonial borders be maintained no matter how insanely drawn, the alternative being almost universally worse. Nonetheless, in Mesopotamia, balkanization is the only way to go. Because it has already happened and will not be reversed. In Iraq, for example, we are reaping one disaster after another by pretending that the Baghdad government — deeply sectarian, divisive and beholden to Iran — should be the center of our policy and the conduit for all military aid.

Excerpt: A day after al Shabaab, al Qaeda’s official branch in Somalia, claimed it ambushed and killed dozens of Ethiopian troops in southern Somalia, the jihadist group has now released a photo report from the ambush. The photos show several burning and captured vehicles. One image shows the jihadist group capturing an armored vehicle, while others show a variety of small arms that were taken. Two photos show Ethiopian identification cards. Some photos are too graphic to be published by The Long War Journal.

Menendez won’t accept Kerry’s concessions on Iran. By Jennifer Rubin
Excerpt: As we noted yesterday, Secretary of State John Kerry’s remarks concerning more concessions to Iran in the nuclear talks lit a fire under critics whose anxiety level increases with each utterance. I just got a chance to watch the CSPAN coverage of Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), who took to the floor Wednesday afternoon to share his concerns.

Excerpt: Israel has “hard evidence” that Iran conducted weaponization work as part of their nuclear research, Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon told The Washington Post’s Lally Weymouth in a wide-ranging interview published on Tuesday. Ya’alon made this revelation while discussing Iran’s refusal to allow inspections of military sites as part of any nuclear deal. He also explained the dangers of offering Iran sanctions relief.

Conspiratorial Anti-Semitism: From Juan Cole to Diane Rehm. By Cinnamon Stillwell
Excerpt: David Bernstein, writing for the Volokh Conspiracy at the Washington Post, points out that the brand of conspiratorial anti-Semitism underlying National Public Radio (NPR) host Diane Rehm's questioning last week of presidential candidate Bernie Sanders' nonexistent dual Israeli-American citizenship is exemplified by, among others, University of Michigan history professor Juan Cole:

State Department Report Minimizes Palestinian Incitement to Violence
Excerpt: The U.S. State Department's Country Reports on Terrorism 2014 issued Friday minimizes official Palestinian incitement to violence against Israel and completely overlooks Palestinian glorification of terrorists. The annual report lists major terrorist incidents worldwide and outlines each country's counterterrorism efforts and legislation. Terrorism attacks and their resulting deaths spiked last year, the report found, an increase largely driven by attacks by the Islamic State and Nigeria's Boko Haram terrorist groups.

UK drivers warned after tensions rise in Calais
Excerpt: With Calais the main port for British tourists and truckers authorities in the UK are growing increasingly concerned. “Having to run the gauntlet on the roads through Calais is not exactly a great way to start or end a holiday in France,” Paul Watters from the UK’s Automobile Association (AA) told The Local. "These are desperate people and they are taking desperate measures."

Boosted by rising concerns over the cost of immigration to Denmark's generous welfare state and a perceived erosion of "Danish values", it secured 21.1 percent of the vote, its highest score ever and up from 12.3 percent in the previous election.

Church Where Jesus Fed 5,000 Hit By Arson. Graffiti on wall: 'Idols will have their heads cut off'
Excerpt: A church in Tabgha, Israel, on the Sea of Galilee where the Christian faith points to Jesus feeding his flock of 5,000 followers with five loaves of bread and two fish was hit by arsonists, authorities said. The Church of the Multiplication, which is overseen by Benedictine monks, was destroyed on the inside. Much of the roof was consumed by flames, too, CNN reported.... Interestingly enough, the portion of the church that contains the rock where Jesus is said to have placed the five loaves of bread and two fish he then distributed – along with his disciples – to the 5,000 or so assembled before him was not damaged by fire, CNN reported.

ISIS Is Following A Plan Laid Out Ten Years Ago By Al-Qaeda, and It’s All Working
Excerpt: What is less known is that the plan for the restoration of the caliphate was sketched out ten years ago by al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, and has been followed out more or less exactly by the Islamic State. The claim to reconstitute the caliphate is the key to the Islamic State’s success — the importance of this cannot be overstated. The revival of the caliphate is, in the eyes of those who support it and have longed for it all these years, a return to the form of government of the glory days of Islam.

Desperate for a Deal: With Deadline Looming, U.S. Capitulates to Iran. By Jordan Candler
Excerpt: Proving that the U.S. is more desperate than its Iranian counterparts to reach a nuclear deal — even if it’s a very bad one — Secretary of State John Kerry this week said the U.S. is willing to capitulate on a major sticking point in negotiations as the June 30 deadline draws near. According to The New York Times, “Mr. Kerry suggested major sanctions might be lifted long before international inspectors get definitive answers to their longstanding questions about Iranian experiments and nuclear design work that appeared aimed at developing a bomb.” Here’s Kerry’s rationale: “We’re not fixated on Iran specifically accounting for what they did at one point in time or another. We know what they did. We have no doubt. We have absolute knowledge with respect to the certain military activities they were engaged in. What we’re concerned about is going forward.

Chad's government accused Nigerian militant Islamist group Boko Haram of the bombings which killed more than 20 people. The prime minister said the veil was used as a "camouflage" by militants and said the security forces will burn all full-face veils sold in markets.

Ramadan begins in Yemen: Islamic State murders 31 with bombs at Shi’ite mosques. By Robert Spencer, JihadWatch.Org
Excerpt: “The bombs exploded almost simultaneously just after sundown on the eve of Ramadan” — and so the month in which Muslims rededicate themselves to the service of Allah gets a bloody kickoff, in what the perpetrators no doubt believe to be a great act of service to Allah.
