Lung War Update & Political News

News From the Front in the Lung War

The custom-made stent from France has come in...and the pulmonologist who ordered it now recommends holding off on putting it in. The team looked at my decreasing oxygen usage (3 lpm for walking around, which is about 33% oxygen compared to room air which is 21%), my increasing (a little) FEV numbers and my doing a bit more in physical therapy rehab each time and made the recommendation. The danger is that the stent may block one of the smaller bronchial tubes. While that might not hurt my functioning much, it creates a place for fluid buildup, thus a breeding ground for pneumonia and the other bugs, like staff and strep, which I have been fighting. The last go around was so close a thing that everyone wants to avoid giving the bugs any advantage.

It really was a near-run thing. For the military types on my list, here's what happened. Things were going well on Wednesday, 5/21. But on 5/22, the NVA launched an assault on my perimeter. We engaged them with all the indirect fire we could (24/7 IV antibiotics), but by the morning of Memorial Day, 5/27, they had broken through the wire and resistance was reduced to small pockets with no reserves. (I was on 100% oxygen, which you can't stay on too long, and holding only at 90% oxygen saturation, barely in the safe range.) Faced with imminent defeat, I called a fire mission on my position. (Agreed to go on a ventilator breathing tube, knowing I might never come off or even wake up. I survived that, in fact the doctor said of the hundreds of patients he has intubated with breathing tubes, I tolerated it better than anyone he had seen. Credit the power of prayer, the efforts of the physical therapy guys to build me up, and my Parris Island DIs that I had no panic in the crisis.) By Saturday I was able to lift the fires (pull the breathing tube as the antibiotics had gotten ahead of the bugs). I gather up two mess men, the company clerk, the chaplain's assistant and a PFC malingering in sickbay and launched a counter attack, driving Charlie back outside the wire and restoring the perimeter. So we have restored the situation as it was on 5/21. This does not mean we have won the battle, never mind the war. They will be back. but we held for this round and I'm doing all I can to strengthen the position. As always, your prayers, support and good thoughts are much appreciated. ~Bob

The Bumbler Swaps Bastards for Bergdahl

Worth Reading: The Prisoner Swap Deal. By Thomas Sowell
Excerpt: People are arguing about what the United States got out of the deal that swapped five top level terrorist leaders for one American soldier who was, at best, absent from his post in a war zone. Soldiers who served in the same unit with him call him a deserter. The key to this deal, however, is less likely to be what the United States got out of the deal than it is about what Barack Obama got out of the deal. If nothing else, it instantly got the veterans' hospitals scandals off the front pages of newspapers and pushed these scandals aside on television news programs.
It was a clear winner for Barack Obama. And that may be all that matters to Barack Obama. ... People who are disappointed with Barack Obama have no right to be. It is they whom others have a right to be disappointed with. Instead of taking their role as citizens seriously, they chose to vote on the basis of racial symbolism, glib rhetoric and wishful thinking.

Worth Reading: How did 6 die after Bowe Bergdahl's disappearance? By Jake Tapper, CNN
Excerpt: "The fact of the matter is, when those soldiers were killed, they would not have been where they were at if Bergdahl had not have left," said former Sgt. Evan Buetow, Bergdahl's former team leader. "Bergdahl leaving changed the mission." Those charges were repeated by a noncommissioned officer who requested anonymity because he is still in the Army, one who described himself as a two-time voter for President Obama, lest anyone think his comments were political in any way. "If Bergdahl hadn't left it's entirely plausible that they wouldn't have had those follow-on missions or been where they were," said the NCO, who served in the 501st. Some also argue that the personnel recovery mission angered the local population, and created patterns in troops' movement that made insurgent attacks easier. None of that has been enough to quell critics who accuse the soldiers of smearing Bergdahl and exaggerating the role his disappearance played in the deaths of the six men. (Tapper tends to be, if you will, fair and balanced. I'll be surprised if CNN keeps him. ~Bob)

Miss Louisiana’s Take on Bergdahl Prisoner Swap at Miss USA Contest Makes Crowd Go Wild
Excerpt: Brittany Guidry of Louisiana, competing for the title of Miss USA, finished 3rd runner-up in the annual beauty pageant. But it wasn’t her looks, bathing suit, or talent that earned her the biggest applause. (40 second video of her response. ~Bob)

In Pittsburgh, Leon Panetta questions prisoner swap with Taliban
http://triblive.com/news/adminpage/6228667-74/panetta-bergdahl-obama#axzz34BML5HyA
Excerpt: “I don't fault the administration for wanting to get him back. I do question whether the conditions are in place to make sure these terrorists don't go back into battle,” former CIA director and Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta told a gas industry gathering in Pittsburgh. Panetta, who was in the Cabinet for four of the five years Bergdahl spent in Taliban custody, said he opposed a swap for the terrorists held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, when he was Defense secretary.

Many Americans Will Die Because of the Bergdahl Trade? By Ronn Torossian
Excerpt: “We all must be mindful that the United States has diplomatic, civilian, and military personnel deployed in other countries with both challenging security environments and active terrorist networks interested in targeting not just our facilities but our people. One of their greatest protections – knowing that the United States does not negotiate with terrorists – has been compromised.” — John Boehner

If Obama Was A White Conservative: He’d Be Facing 10yrs To Life in Prison For Taliban Swap
Excerpt: Shepard Smith asked Judge Andrew Napolitano whether or not the Taliban prisoner exchange was legal under the NDAA H.R. 1960 Statute. The judge explained that the swap was illegal because taxpayer dollars were spent to remove these prisoners from Guantanamo Bay without giving Congress 30 days notice. However, Napolitano goes a step further by pointing out that Obama has provided material assistance (human assets) to the Taliban, which has been identified by Congress to be a non-state terrorist organization. This is a crime punishable by imprisonment of 10 years to life, which covers all Americans–including the President.

'Gentlemen' Won't Return to Battle. From The Patriot Post
Marie Harf, a deputy State Department spokesperson, isn't helping the administration's case. In fact, her performance is eerily reminiscent of a "Saturday Night Live" spoof of the administration. She told MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell yesterday that the Taliban Five released for Bowe Bergdahl are "gentlemen" who wouldn't return to the fight against America. "Under this administration," she explained, "we've put in very stringent processes to determine that we can sufficiently mitigate the risk that the terrorists, the possibility that these gentlemen will go back to the battlefield." In other remarks at a press conference, Harf dismissed the idea again: "Let's say the worst case scenario -- these five guys do return [to the battlefield]. In no way would that substantially change the Taliban's order of battle on the ground. That's just not, um, even logical." What's not logical is to think five dangerous jihadists were a good trade for an alleged Army deserter. (That's the difference between liberals, who call jihadist murders "gentleman," and conservatives who call them "thugs." Of course, the left has declared "thug" a racist code word, but I have gone on using it to describe Nazi's, skinheads, The Aryan Nation and the KKK. So call me a racist, but these groups are thugs and their commitment to affirmative action is a tad weak. ~Bob)

White House: 90 in Administration Knew of Bergdahl Deal, But Not Congress
http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/bergdahl-prisoner-white-house/2014/06/09/id/576067#ixzz34Dfjndsv
Excerpt: Between 80 and 90 administration staffers knew about the trade of five Taliban leaders for U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl even though Congress was kept in the dark, CNN reports, and members of both parties are unhappy about it. During a classified briefing to the entire House of Representatives late Monday afternoon, White House officials said that up to 90 people had prior knowledge of the trade. House Armed Services Committee Chairman Buck McKeon called that news "disturbing," partly because of the high number who knew and partly because the White House has been saying it didn't inform Congress until after the swap was made because it feared Bergdahl's life might be in danger if there had been a leak. Intelligence Officers: 4 of the 5 Taliban Leaders Released From Gitmo Will Wage War Against U.S. By Daniel Doherty
Excerpt: It all added up to a painful dilemma for the White House: free Taliban leaders who might return to the fight—or risk losing America’s last service member held abroad. Obama ultimately chose to make the deal, despite his intelligence services’ estimate that four of the five Taliban detainees would ultimately resume their struggle against American allies.

Report Debunks "Cold-Blood" Claim on Palestinian Deaths
Excerpt: When recent Israeli-Palestinian peace talks broke down, some Palestinian officials, including chief negotiator Saeb Erekat, cited a spike in Palestinian deaths at the hands of Israeli security forces as a factor. Israelis, Erekat said, "killed 66 Palestinians in cold blood" since negotiations started last summer. A new report, however, investigates the backgrounds of those killed, finding that a majority were members of radical terrorist organizations.

Excerpt: The Movement of the Taliban claimed credit for last night's assault on Jinnah Airport in Karachi that shut down all flights, and said the attack was executed to avenge the death of Hakeemullah Mehsud, the former leader of the group who was killed in a US drone strike last year. The assault was executed by 10 heavily armed Taliban fighters, some of whom are said to be of Uzbek nationality, Pakistani officialstold Dawn. If true, these are likely to be members of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, the jihadist group that is allied with the Movement of the Taliban in Pakistan and al Qaeda.

Taliban claim deadly attack on Karachi airport
Excerpt: The Pakistani Taliban have said they were behind an assault on the country's largest airport that killed at least 28 people, including all 10 attackers. The raid on Jinnah international airport in Karachi began late on Sunday at a terminal used for VIPs and cargo. Security forces battled the militants for at least six hours, finally gaining control around dawn. The airport has now reopened and flights have resumed. (won't change my vacation plans--I wasn't going there anyway. ~Bob)

Excerpt: The Obama administration isn’t only giving the Taliban back its commanders — it’s giving them weapons. Military records and sources reveal that on July 25, 2012, Taliban fighters in Kunar province successfully targeted a US Army CH-47 helicopter with a new generation Stinger missile. They thought they had a surefire kill.

Excerpt: Now that it has been revealed that Nigerian generals have been arming this bloodthirsty group, it is clearer why they have been able to operate with such impunity in Nigeria, and continue to do so. But neither the mainstream media nor the leaders of the great nations of the West dare to consider the implications of the fact that this group’s supposed twisting and hijacking of Islam is shared by people at high levels of the Nigerian government. ... On Wednesday, gunmen rounded up more villagers outside Borno’s state capital Maiduguri saying they were going to deliver a sermon, then opened fire, killing at least 42, said a police source….

British Report Finds Islamist Intimidation in Birmingham Schools
Excerpt: British Prime Minister David Cameron promises a "robust response" to the "culture of fear and intimidation" that British investigators found at five state schools in Birmingham, England, where Islamic extremists allegedly plotted to subvert and run them according to rigid Islamic norms.

Nigeria Boko Haram crisis: '20 women abducted' in north
Excerpt: Suspected Boko Haram militants have abducted at least 20 women close to where 200 schoolgirls were kidnapped in northern Nigeria, eyewitnesses say. The women were loaded on to vans at gunpoint and driven away to an unknown location in Borno state, they add. (given that the Holy Qur'an endorses sex with slave girls ["That which your right hand possess."] we can guess their fate. ~Bob)

Kenya cleric Sheikh Mohammed Idris shot dead in Mombasa
Excerpt: A moderate Muslim cleric has been shot dead in Mombasa, the latest killing of a preacher in the Kenyan city. Sheikh Mohammed Idris, chairman of the Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya, was killed close to a mosque near his home by a group of gunmen. (Like "moderate" Germans in the 1930s & 40s, "moderate" Muslims have a reason for staying silent. ~Bob)

Video of Mass Sexual Assault Taints Egypt Inauguration
Excerpt: A video showing a mass sexual assault on a nearly naked woman in the midst of inaugural celebrations for Egypt’s new president is testing his pledge to curb an epidemic of such attacks, with captured scenes of a police officer with a gun in his hand struggling against a crowd of men to extricate the victim.

The Surprising States That Have Greater Income Inequality. By Stephen Moore and Richard Vedder
Excerpt: For those in Washington obsessed with reducing income inequality, the standard prescription involves raising taxes on the well-to-do, increasing the minimum wage, and generally expanding government benefits—the policies characterizing liberal, blue-state governance. If only America took a more “progressive” approach, the thinking goes, leaving behind conservative, red-state priorities like keeping taxes low and encouraging business, fairness would sprout across the land. Among the problems with that view, one is particularly surprising: The income gap between rich and poor tends to be wider in blue states than in red states. Our state-by-state analysis finds that the more liberal states whose policies are supposed to promote fairness have a bigger gap between higher and lower incomes than do states that have more conservative, pro-growth policies. (The error the authors make is assuming that the administration cares about income inequality or the poor. They don't. They care about building support and votes. Being a demagogue such issues in a fact-free manner admirably serves that purpose. ~Bob)

Causes of Death in 1900 vs. Today: One Chart Puts Firearms & Natural Disasters Threat in Perspective
Excerpt: In light of the federal government’s drive to enforce stricter environmental regulations for the reason of combating man-made “climate change,” it should be said that 98% fewer people are dying from extreme weather events or natural disasters than in the 1920s. Extreme weather events currently comprise about 0.07% of all fatalities globally. We’re also being told about the danger posed by law-abiding citizens possessing firearms. But where is that threat on this chart?

Obamacare Penalty to Hit One Million Low-Income Americans: 200,000 earning less than 100 percent of the poverty level to pay fine
Excerpt: Roughly one million low-income Americans will pay a fine under Obamacare, according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).
The CBO estimated that four million people would pay the individual mandate penalty for not having health insurance by 2016 as a result of the president’s health care law, according to a report released last week,

Vermont Firearms Dealer To Lay Off 41 Because of Obama Executive Action. By Chuck Ross
A Vermont firearms dealer says the Obama administration is responsible for him having to lay off 41 of its workers in a “last minute” move that has even angered some of the state’s liberal politicians. Century International Arms had a $30 million contract in place to import World War II era M1 Garand Rifles from the South Korean government. The U.S. State Department had given preliminary approval to the deal, and the State, Justice and Defense departments had cleared the transaction. But an executive action announced last year by President Obama ultimately blocked the plan, according to the gun seller, despite pleas from Sen. Patrick Leahy and Gov. Peter Shumlin, both Democrats. (If you like your job, you can keep your job. Period. Unless, of course, it's a job Obama needs to eliminate to kiss up to his base. ~Bob)

Central America Calls BS on Obama's Amnesty Lie. By Conn Carroll
Excerpt: "It is a permit to enter the United States." That is what Edilberto Lanza Mejia, a 26-year-old from Honduras, told The Houston Chronicle about the documents given to him by U.S. immigration official before they released him at a bus station in McAllen, Texas.

Obama's Mariel: Five Ways Obama's Immigration Decisions Parallel Those Of Castro
Excerpt: A wave of single mothers and children is crashing across our border from Central America in numbers not seen since Cuba's 1980 Mariel boatlift. Incredibly, it's now President Obama playing the role of Castro. Last week, President Obama called the surge in illegal immigration across the Texas border "an urgent humanitarian situation" and vowed to put together a task force to ensure that the "needs" of the illegals are fulfilled by the U.S. taxpayer. He's not mistaken about the scope of the problem — which has seen 148,000 apprehensions, or 1,100 arrests a day, from Oct. 1 through May 17, with 120,000 apprehensions forecast for 2014, according to a report from Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service. (I listened this morning to a discussion on NPR about the young kids coming up into the US now, with a lot of them from Guatemala, where the violence is overwhelming, 8 yr old boys get killed for not joining the local gang, poverty is really grinding, and none of us would want to stay there for a second. And the boys from those countries cling onto the major freight trains that go north, which are called in Spanish the Train of Death because it's easy to get killed or at least have a limb amputated just for trying to ride on one of the cars. So the 14 year old they interviewed came across like a hero, braving a perilous journey to get to the US so he can work and send money to his starving mother and siblings. How can one NOT have instant sympathy for this kid? But the world is filled with literally hundreds of millions, if not over a billion, of kids living in horrendous circumstances. The camps for refugees from wars in the Congo or Nigeria are really terrible places too, the few Christians still surviving in places like Pakistan and other now aggressive Muslim societies are desperate, and the list can go on until any adult with a heart will be weeping. And we can't take in everyone, our society only has so much capacity for absorbing people, especially poor ones with no special skills and little to no English. So if we can't take in those kids from the Congo or Sudan, how is it OK to take in the kids from South America just because they can manage to get here? I don't mean to sound hard-hearted, but I believe that by not very clearly discouraging illegals, by not really tightening the border, by not shipping people back as fast as we possibly can (and give every one of them $100 to get them home with something, if it'll make everyone feel better about it), we are giving people false hope and encouraging them to come here. We need those societies south of our border to evolve and start taking better care of their own people. (And if we can help with a few million bucks every year for their schools or food programs or clinics, great. That's less costly to us than having to deal with people here, and in any case is the right thing to do.) --Del)

Because He Is Black, Americans Suffer and Die. By Lloyd Marcus
Excerpt: Clearly, no amount of unprecedented unlawful power-grabs, narcissistic behavior, blatant lies, and ignoring of the Constitution will sway the mainstream media and the Democrats from their loyalty to Obama. Why? The answer is that Obama is black, which makes him their ultimate weapon of mass destruction – able to nuke traditional America. Obama's mission is to cram his radical socialist/progressive dream for America down our throats. (Would you say the writer was a racist? Even if you knew he was a black writer? ~Bob)

Worth Reading: Sorry, College Grads, You’ll Probably Never Get Your Social Security Money
http://dailycaller.com/2014/06/03/sorry-college-grads-youll-probably-never-get-your-social-security-money/
Excerpt: According to Pew, 51 percent of Millennials believe they will receive no Social Security money by the time they retire. 39 percent believe the system will provide benefits at reduced levels. Indeed, a mere 6 percent believe they will receive benefits enjoyed by current retirees at the same levels. ... Within fifteen years, the number of Americans reaching retirement age will increase 70 percent while the number of working-age Americans will increase by just 6 percent. When Social Security started in 1935, 17 workers paid for the benefits of one retiree. As a result of its unsustainable growth, it’s estimated that by 2035, the ratio will be two workers per retiree.

Teaching the Vietnam War: Why it is important for graduate military studies. By Martin Scott Catino, Ph.D., Adjunct Professor of Graduate Military Studies at American Military University
Excerpt: The late Osama bin Laden, Ayman al Zawahiri, and the Taliban are among the enemies who have drawn very clear lessons from that conflict, and we should teach America’s next generation of military leaders to do likewise. Although the lessons learned from Vietnam are many, several key areas of study emerge as particularly valuable for teaching graduate military studies: the psychological terrain, the strategic context, and information operations.

Excerpt: A senior police official in southern Zabul said the coalition soldiers may have been killed when they called for close-air support.

Excerpt: The Internal Revenue Service may have been caught violating federal tax law: In October 2010, the agency sent a database on 501(c)(4) social-welfare groups containing confidential taxpayer information to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, according to documents obtained by a House panel. Excerpt: Six dancers with Cuba's National Ballet have arrived in Miami after defecting while on tour in Puerto Rico at the weekend. (Obama should have traded Michael Moore for them, since Moore loves Cuba. ~Bob)

Why Hillary's 'Dead Broke' Comment Matters. By Jim Geraghty, Morning Jolt
Morning Jolt is a free e-newsletter that is well forth your time to subscribe to. ~Bob. Hillary's "Dead Broke" comment is the 2016 presidential cycle's early version of her "Tuzla Dash," — when she claimed that during a visit to Bosnia as First Lady, "I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base." Of course, there is no record indicating any danger to her. Hillary Clinton misremembers events so they fit into her own personal heroic narrative, not as they actually were. Lots of people do this, particularly politicians, but this is a dangerous habit for a leader to have. If they cannot assess and interpret past events clearly, how much faith can we have in their ability to assess and interpret what's in front of them now? Or in the future? In case you missed it . . . Hillary Clinton said she and husband, Bill, were "dead broke" when they left the White House in 2001 with a meager income of $416,039 and $11 million in debt, as she defended her $200,000 speaking fee to ABC's Diane Sawyer. Clinton insists the speaking fees were necessary for the family of three to make ends meet, managing two mortgages and the steep bills for daughter Chelsea's private school education. "We struggled to, you know, piece together the resources for mortgages, for houses, for Chelsea's education. You know, it was not easy," Clinton told ABC's Diane Sawyer, in an interview to air Monday. Remember when I chuckled about a New Yorker writer referring to her as "Lunch-pail Hillary," suggesting she will run a populist campaign that is "critical of the Wall Street types"? Apparently she really intends to do this. A woman with a net worth of $200 million, who gives speeches to Goldman Sachs for $200,000 each, is perhaps the single least plausible populist of all time. She may attempt to pose as this reform-minded outsider who will shake up "The System," when she is perhaps the personification of "The System." You can count on one hand the number of people who have had more influence over public policy than her since January 1993. But she's going to try it, because she is apparently incapable of perceiving herself as she is. Because massive wealth is seen as suspicious or inherently corrupting in today's political culture, particularly in Democratic circles, she has to pretend she's middle class, that her personal-finance worries are just like those of Americans making mid five-figures or less.
The "he's unbelievably rich and out of touch" attack clearly did damage to Romney in 2012. Hillary Clinton has to hope lots of people don't react the way Jimmie Bise Jr. did: "I know of dozens of ridiculously-talented, hard-working people who'll never set foot in a mansion. But Hillary Clinton buys two and weeps." {New book listed in Morning Jolt: My colleague John Fund has a new book out, Obama's Enforcer: Eric Holder's Justice Department. Senator Ted Cruz says,"Obama's Enforcer catalogues the abuses of power at the Department of Justice under Attorney General Holder: Rather than honoring its long history of bipartisan fidelity to the law, the DOJ has become an unapologetically partisan institution that aides and abets this administration's lawlessness and contempt for the Constitution."]

Excerpt: Discussing the most controversial part of her tenure at the State Department in her new book, "Hard Choices" – the attacks on the U.S. compounds in Benghazi, Libya, on the night of September 11, 2012 – former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton seems to gloss over the fact that Marines were not sent amid a worsening security situation in Libya, and were only sent after the attack.

Hillary Clinton’s new book Hard Choices got basic information about security measures in Libya before the Benghazi attack totally wrong, CNN reports.
In a chapter defending military readiness at the American diplomatic outpost in BenghaziClinton wrote that while there were no Marines stationed there, there were Marines at the American embassy in Tripoli, “where nearly all of our diplomats worked and which had the capability to process classified material.” This is untrue, according to Congressional testimony delivered by General Carter Ham, who was Commander of US Africa Command during the attack. His testimony was delivered in June 2013–a year before the book was published. (As Bob would say, "Show me your shocked face." Another Allinsky devotee. Same as what we got now. --Barb)

Worth Reading: Was Benghazi a Scandal? Scandals — or fundamental transformations? By Victor Davis Hanson
Excerpt: If the CIA wanted to smuggle guns to Syria or interrogate al-Qaeda suspects in Benghazi, that was its business, not necessarily the administration’s. To the degree Obama was involved in overseeing events in Libya, his involvement was most likely limited to a vague warning that, in the latter part of the nip-and-tuck 2012 campaign, there must not be anything resembling a shoot-’em-up Mogadishu, which a beefed-up security presence in Benghazi might have made more likely by evening the odds. Better to keep a low profile amid increasing security threats and hope for the best. And, if the worst happens — well, things do happen.

Ben Shapiro: Obama Administration 'A Criminal Enterprise Like The Mafia'
Excerpt: On Monday’s “Hannity” on the Fox News Channel, Breitbart editor at-large of Ben Shapiro laid out the premise of his new book, “The People Vs. Barack Obama: The Criminal Case Against the Obama Administration.” “So there are multiple charges – I mean, everything from Benghazi, which there are violations of the Espionage Act and the Arms Export Control Act to the IRS, in which there are violation of IRS law, to witness tampering on multiple counts. .... This is why the RICO Act was created – is to wrap all of this kind of stuff in a bundle and then allow for prosecution. (This Chicago way, eh? Like Holder would do something? --Barb)

Aussies To Form Alliance to Thwart Obama’s Climate Goals
Excerpt: Australia’s Prime Minister Tony Abbott is seeking out “like-minded” countries to form an alliance to thwart climate policies being pushed by President Obama and other world leaders. Abbott announced his intention to stymie efforts to push climate policies on unwilling countries as he met with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper on Monday. Abbott said he seeks to build a conservative alliance with CanadaBritainIndia and New Zealand.

Excerpt: As if it weren’t bad enough that even convicts qualify for Obama amnesty, check out what’s going on in Arizona; the federal government is dumping an unknown number of illegal immigrants caught in Texas at bus stations in Phoenix and Tucson. The feds didn’t even have the courtesy to give state officials a heads up that hundreds, possibly thousands, of illegal aliens would be dropped off for processing by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and subsequently released into the general population. A chunk of the migrants got apprehended in Texas over Memorial Day weekend after crossing into the state through the Rio Grande Valley, according to news reports.

Excerpt: EPA draft regulations released this week mandate power plants cut carbon emissions by 30 percent by 2030. According to the EPA’s own measurements, the new regulations are set to do much more economic harm than environmental good. The EPA estimates the cost of the regulations at $8.8 billion a year in 2030. The product? An EPA estimated warming prevention of .03 degrees Celsius by 2100. In other words, consumers will pay $616 billion more in energy costs for what the government claims will prevent warming of .03 degrees Celsius in 86 years– hardly a worthwhile expenditure even if we are to take the EPA at their word. (Ahh, he has more flexibility to screw U. --Barb)

excerpt: The barrage of illegal immigrant minors entering the U.S. through Mexico in recent weeks has created an out-of-control disaster with jam-packed holding centers, rampant diseases and sexually active teenagers at a Nogales facility, according to information obtained by Judicial Watch from a Homeland Security source. The Obama administration blames the sudden influx on persistent violence in Central America, but a veteran Border Patrol agent who heads the agency’s Tucson sector union, says rumors of amnesty are responsible for the unforeseen bombardment.

Excerpt: Judicial Watch alleges that in 2009 then-White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and then-deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina, on behalf of the Obama administration, both used their position and influence as highly placed federal employees to affect the outcome of federal elections – in direct violation of the Hatch Act.

Excerpt: That makes this week’s news that bin Laden’s former bodyguard, Mahmud Abd Al Aziz Al Mujahid, will soon be free, all the more outrageous. It was not that long ago—in 2010—that an Obama task force listed Mujahid as too dangerous to release from Gitmo. That put him on a special “forever prisoner” list of 48 indefinite detainees. His Pentagon file says he’s a high risk likely to pose a threat to the U.S., its interests and allies and that he is of high intelligence value. The defense document also says Mujahid is a member of Al Qaeda who served as a body guard for bin Laden for one year and that he has familial ties to Al Qaeda members, including other bin Laden bodyguards and Gitmo detainees. He traveled to Afghanistan in late 1999 or early 2000 for jihad and received militant training at the Al Qaeda al-Faruq training camp, the file says. (Date January 2014. Per this article, ..."the president created a special parole panel, a six-member Periodic Review Board, to essentially clear out the facility..." Rule by decree...Barb)

Obama releasing 'reformed' Guantanamo prisoners for reasons including having taken up yoga and showing a 'positive attitude'

Excerpt: President Barack Obama is moving ahead with his push to close the Guantanamo Bay prison despite the uproar over the exchange of five Taliban prisoners for a captured American soldier, an administration official said Thursday. The Periodic Review Board has determined that more former 'forever prisoners,' including one who says he has been reformed by practicing yoga and another who was a bodyguard for Bin Laden but now wants to start a 'milk and honey farm' are fit for release to their homelands or repatriation. Ghaleb Nasser al Bihani, 35, told a parole board in April that he had read the biographies of Dr Martin Luther King Jr and the Dalai Lama and aspired to live 'an ordinary life.'
