Random Thoughts for February 2021

Random Thoughts for February 2021

Robert A. Hall

Feel free to post or forward.

Health update: I’m at least 98% recovered from the left lung removal in June. Big problem now is the arthritis in my hip, very painful. I had a cortisone shot last week, and it’s some better for pain, but I know that only lasts a few weeks and I can only get on every three months. I see ortho on 1/9 and will try to convince them to do a hip replacement. It’s risky because I’m immune-suppressed from my transplant in 2013. Since I was executive director of AAHKS, I know that one to two % of joint replacement become infected, which could be fatal. I think that gives me a 49-1 shot with a replacement. I will take the risk if they let me. I Don’t want to spend the rest of my life in pain and in a wheelchair or a bed. I’d rather throw the dice again. Will keep you posted.

2nd COVID shot 2/4.

December 31, 2020 was the 15th anniversary of my cough. Much better since they took out my old lung; no longer coughing up blood.

We have lost the Senate. We have Trump to thank.

WWIII is over. China won.

People were hoping that 2021 would be better than 2020. January is not an encouraging start.

Biden and the Democrat should thank the Trump supporters who stormed the capital. It strengthens them incredibly. The summer of riots, looting, and violence in the cities is down the memory hole.

Post Trump, it will take a long time to rebuild the conservative movement. And the country will go through liberal hell because of it, as progressives ride roughshod over our rights.

I’ve never attended a presidential inaugural. This didn’t seem like a good year to start. Ut apparently walls work in Washington, if not on the borders.

I notice the media didn’t call the Trump riots “mostly peaceful protests.: I am appalled with this. It is the fruits of Democrats and the media going soft, at least, on Antifa and BLM riots and violence. As you sow…

From Facebook: They tell you that they're asking for unity, in reality they are demanding conformity...Know the difference.

"For the average person walking down a dark street late at night, a promise from a politician is worth far less than a .38 Special." ~ James Bovard (From Todd on Facebook)

A risk-free society is a growth-free society. –Alison B

On New Year’s Day, I had black eyed peas and pork brats. I don’t believe in superstitions, but I hear it’s good luck whether you believe or not.

If you want to talk to me, a robocall isn’t going to work.

Rights are something you have unless someone takes them away. Goods are things you don't have until someone gives them to you (ideally, in return for something of equal value). Liberals confuse the two. –Alison B

I finally found find a pizza place that has anchovies.

“The people to fear are not those who disagree with you, but those who disagree with you and are too cowardly to let you know.” - Napoleon Bonaparte (from my friend Todd)

People who think affirmative action works think giving someone a swimming proficiency certificate will keep them from drowning. –Alison B

Foreign aid: The tribute working people in the US pay to rich autocrats in the third world, hoping, vainly, for peace.

They have been diligent, a they should be, in tracking down and charging to rioters at the capitol. I wish they had been half as diligent in tracking down and charging BLM and Antifa? I am glad they are swiftly identifying and punishing those who rioted at the capitol. How about doing the same for the BLM and Antifa folks who rioted, looted, and attacked people in cities across the country this year? Why is that different?

Liberals think that saying the right thing is more important than doing it. –Alison B

A woman on Facebook said I was a, “Snowflake, liberal, asshole who should ‘f*** off’” I replied, “Nice talk. The kind I expect from liberals. Been a Republican since I campaigned for Nixon in 60 at 14. Conservative since I read Goldwater's "Conscience of a Conservative" at 16. Volunteered for the Marines at 18, for Vietnam at 20. Served 5 terms as a GOP state senator. BA in Govt, MEd in History. Executive for 31 years. Served another 6 years in USMCR while a senator. What personal risks have you taken to fight socialism, cupcake?” No answer.

Trump promised to surround himself with the best people. Funny how almost everybody he picked, VP Pense, the AGs, the SecDefs on down turned out to be deep state sleepers.

The latest impeachment effort isn’t about Trump. It is an attempt to box GOP legislators, who will be punished by pro-trump or anti-Trump voters no matter how they vote.

Last time we donated our $2400 stimulus check to our church’s good Samaritan Fund to help people in need. This time we need a new fridge, maybe a walk-in jetted tub and or mobility scooter for my hip arthritis. So….

Racism comes in all colors. –George S.

Martin Luther King believed you should judge people by the content of their character, not the color of their skin. That makes him a racist in woke culture.

Facebook bans political speech it doesn’t like, but accepts scam ads to get the money. ($40 mobility scooter, pill to get skinny, become a Scottish Lord.)

Had another call today that my social security account was suspended for fraud. Press one to talk to an officer if you don’t want to get arrested. I hit one. How come all the “SS officers” have an Indian accent? I hope he was fluent enough in English to follow my directions. Now getting scam robo calls about Amazon. Again, agent with an Indian accent.

If Canada sold the Keystone Pipeline to Bill Gates or some other billionaire Democrat donor, Biden would suddenly see the value in it.

What happened to all the inaugural demonstrations in DC and the state capitols we were warned about?

Thought for the day: A gang rape is just democracy in action. --Tom Kratman (The victim votes no, the gang votes five yes. Why we are a republic with rights that can’t be repealed by a majority.)

Worst job in the country: Biden’s food taster.

“Don’t cling to a mistake just because you spent a lot of time making it.” -Anon

"General welfare" does not mean welfare for everyone. –Alison B

They are claiming Biden removed the painting of President Andrew Jackson (considered the founder of the modern Democrat party) from the ovel office, but I think Jackson left of his own.

Biden believes anything Trump did is automatically bad. He’s going to be very constipated after four years.

For progressives, "unity" means "shut up and do what I tell you." -Alison B

I had over 300 emails on 1/22. I had to delete most unopened. About 100 from same person. I had to do an interview with a vet, write his life story, read it back to him, and send to my office to process. Also slept 11 hours, and did 3.5 hours of med stuff for my transplant.

94% of people working on line due to COVID say productivity has stayed the same or improved. –Harpers, 1/21.

30% of single Americans say they have had sex since the pandemic began. –Harpers, 1/21.

What is the difference between totalitarian and authoritarian regimes? A totalitarian regime silences and controls its people. An authoritarian regime leaves these functions to the private sector. --George

From FB: They say unity but they mean uniformity.

Many lovely young women seem intent on making themselves ugly with tattoos, piercings, and too much makeup.

What to get the keystone Pipeline on again? Give Hunter Biden an executive position with the company at a salary of $300,000+.
