Once again, I will state there's tons of stuff about Trump I don't like, don't approve of, and wish to heaven he'd do differently, and I am very aware of his assorted flaws and faults. But that's not the point, people can register and scream about any and all legitimate criticisms of him they want, that's absolutely fine. But for anyone to decide that they have the right to deliberately, carefully, lie, cheat, conspire against him is immoral, unethical, and treasonous and when they are government employees that's worst of all. I hope in years to come the book will come out that exposes all these people for their criminal behavior and they wind up fully disgraced in history. --Del

I don't agree that women don't belong at all in the Marine Corps, but I do agree that pushing to get them into the infantry and going to all kinds of special lengths for any "special" groups is a very bad idea.  It does make sense to have different levels of physical performance for women, fewer pushups, pullups, etc, and that kind of accomodation for their different physiology really makes no difference anyhow, as long as they are not going to be serving in the infantry.  (Or any other job that requires serious upper body strength and endurance.)  Out in the field, with physical challenges that don't care what body you have and enemy that doesn't care either, then only one standard can apply. 

 

I noted with dismay that the Corps has finally started training men and women together in Basic, and that's one more stupid move.  For heaven's sake, do we have to point out again and again that the Olympics have separate events for men and women and nobody is demanding that they abolish that policy?  If there were only Tennis, open to everyone, the three winners of medals would always be men, same for almost every other event anyone can think of.  They've had women in the Iron Man triathlon for decades now, and women do finish, but the average time of women to finish is an hour more than the average time for men.  Gee, is there any meaning in that?  Duhh....

 

The single most important goal of the military is lethality, that is, effectiveness in taking on and defeating the enemy.  Every change of any sort for the military has to be measured against that criterion.  If there is no positive effect, then the change is rejected.  Nothing about feelings or social justice or anything else matters in the least.  PC BS in the long run detracts from lethality a lot, and that means injustice to men but more important, an eventual price in blood.

The first parts of this are exactly what I was thinking in both the 2008 and 2016 campaigns. He thinks the results of those elections were at least as much a rejection of Hillary Clinton as they were an approval of those who beat her. I concur. Had a Democrat I respected been nominated, I would likely have voted for that candidate rather than voting for Johnson-Weld. It gets really difficult when there are NO good choices. Even Carter, that micro-managing incompetent was at least "on America's side." We'll see how it all falls out over the next 18 months. I'm not optimistic. Ron

Who in the world might be interested in voting for William Weld in a GOP presidential primary? It turns out, libertarian-leaning GOP consultant Liz Mair: The bottom line for people like [RedState founder Eric] Erickson is this: Mr. Trump has terrible character flaws and has eroded norms and worsened our system of government. But Democrats seem to have responded to the election of Mr. Trump not by pushing forward sensible, moderate candidates who understand the fundamentals of government and policy but rather far-left legislators in Congress (like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib) and policy like the late-term-abortion laws in Virginia and New York. This is true. For those of us who find Trump’s character abysmal, his rhetoric unworthy of the office he holds, and his judgment erratic at best, his defeat by the Democratic nominee in 2020 would end up reversing some serious policy gains and most likely move the country fast and far in the wrong direction. Continuing Trump’s presidency is going to cost conservatives quite a bit in terms of respect for the Constitution; traditional cultural values; our established military alliances; our already seriously degraded standards for public discourse; and expectations of respect for all Americans of all races, creeds and colors. But the price of not continuing the Trump presidency keeps increasing even higher.

Excerpt: In a viral exchange at a congressional hearing last week, the new congresswoman from Minnesota, Ilhan Omar, who is quickly establishing herself as the most reprehensible member of the House Democratic freshman class despite stiff competition, launched into Elliott Abrams. She accused the former Reagan official and Trump’s special envoy to Venezuela of being complicit in war crimes. “Yes or no,” she demanded, “would you support an armed faction within Venezuela that engages in war crimes, crimes against humanity or genocide, if you believe they were serving U.S. interest, as you did in Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua?” Omar was cribbing from the Left’s notes on U.S. Latin American policy, and doing it badly. She made much of the 1981 El Motoze massacre in El Salvador. The idea that Abrams is somehow directly implicated in this bloodcurdlingly awful event is completely absurd. He was assistant secretary of state for international organizations in the Reagan administration, then became assistant secretary of state for human rights and humanitarian affairs on December 10, 1981. The massacre occurred the next day. Unless we are to believe the El Salvadoran military unit took his change of jobs as a green light to indiscriminately kill villagers (which unfortunately was not a new practice), Abrams obviously had nothing to do with the massacre.
