Child Bride Racket

Global kid bride racket goes bust in Hyderabad, 8 sheikhs in net
Excerpt: HYDERABAD: An international child bride racket was busted in the city with the arrest of 20 people, including five Omani sheikhs, three Qataris and three qazis -the kingpin being a chief qazi of Mumbai, Farid Ahmed Khan, who brokered illegal contracts with forged nikahnamas. Twelve minors were freed from the clutches of sheikhs from the city late on Tuesday. The crackdown followed a spate of child marriages in Old City and a tip-off from a reluctant 16-year-old girl, who was interviewed by a 50-year-old sheikh for marriage. This led police to four lodges in the city, which turned out to be den of human trafficking. An Omani sheikh was caught red-handed, while he was about to wed a teenage girl on Tuesday night. Five local middlemen and four hotel owners were also arrested. The accused were identified as Al Mayahi Habib Ali Issa, Al Salhi Talib Humeid Ali, Al Ubaidani Juma Shinoon Sulaima, Al Salehi Nasser Khalifa Hamed and Al Qasimi Hassan Mazaaul Mohamed from Oman, Omer Mohammed Seraj Abdal Rahman, Hamad Jabir O Al-Kuwari and Safeldin Mohamed Mohamednour Salih from Qatar. Mumbai-based qazi Farid Ahmed Khan would charge Rs 70,000 for providing forged nikahnamas and other certificates to brokers. The 63-year-old, Hyderabad police claimed, was the kingpin and played an important role in the international human trafficking racket. (Three qazis were arrested. A qazi is a judge of a Sharia court. Why would such men be involved in this? Because child marriage is Islamic. “Islam has no age barrier in marriage and Muslims have no apology for those who refuse to accept this” — Ishaq Akintola, professor of Islamic Eschatology and Director of Muslim Rights Concern, Nigeria “There is no minimum marriage age for either men or women in Islamic law. The law in many countries permits girls to marry only from the age of 18. This is arbitrary legislation, not Islamic law.” — Dr. Abd Al-Hamid Al-‘Ubeidi, Iraqi expert on Islamic law There is no minimum age for marriage and that girls can be married “even if they are in the cradle.” — Dr. Salih bin Fawzan, prominent cleric and member of Saudi Arabia’s highest religious council “Islam does not forbid marriage of young children.” — Pakistan’s Council of Islamic Ideology Few things are more abundantly attested in Islamic law than the permissibility of child marriage. Islamic tradition records that Muhammad’s favorite wife, Aisha, was six when Muhammad wedded her and nine when he consummated the marriage: --RS. https://www.jihadwatch.org/2017/09/india-global-child-bride-racket-uncovered-eight-muslim-sheikhs-arrested)

Studying Vietnam

Studying the Vietnam War. How the scholarship has changed. By Mark Atwood Lawrence
Excerpt: But there is another, less noticed reason for renewed attention to the Vietnam War: Spectacular new source material has transformed the possibilities for writing about the subject. Some of this new documentation has emerged from U.S. archives as a result of declassification in the last decade or so. Records from the Nixon and Ford presidencies (1969–1977), especially, are making it possible for historians to write with more confidence and in greater detail about the final stages of U.S. involvement in Vietnam, long a relatively neglected era of the war. Indeed, the last phase of U.S. military operations has recently spawned an especially contentious debate on one of the most fundamental controversies about Vietnam: Could the United States and its South Vietnamese allies have won the war if the American public had not turned against it? Provocative new works by Lewis Sorley and Gregory Daddis lead the way in arguing for and against, respectively, the notion that the U.S. military could have secured overall victory, if not for crumbling political support within the United States. (Very nicely done. I only wish there was more noting of how Hanoi has released only a fraction of its secret files. And the truth is that the debate will never be ended, no matter what the evidence presented. Those who choose to see it as complicated but in the end a mistake for the USA to get involved versus those who see it as less complicated and just a failed attempt at Containment due to loss of will to fight. --Del. Hell, we're still re-fighting the Civil War. ~Bob)

Women have a quarter of the brainpower of men

Saudi cleric says women have 'a quarter of the intellect' of men
Excerpt: In Saudi Arabia, where women cannot drive, a senior state cleric has ruled women should not be allowed behind the wheel because they have "a quarter the brainpower of men". Sheikh Saad al-Hajari, the head of the government's religious edict authority in the southern province of Assir, recently made the comments at a lecture on "the evils of allowing women to drive", Saudi daily Sabq reported on Wednesday. "It is not their fault, but women lack intellect do they not?" Hajari asked an audience. "Their lack of intellect does not harm their piousness because they are made that way," he said, explaining that in Islam a woman's testimony is worth half of a man's.

Single Payer

Worth Reading: 13 Reasons Why ... Single-Payer Would Be a Disaster
Excerpt: If the title of this piece sounds familiar, perhaps it's because you've heard something about the adolescent angsty suicide drama, "13 Reasons Why." Adolescents are notoriously difficult to reason with. They tend to live in the present. They believe pie-in-the-sky promises. They want what they want. When they are warned about the possible consequences of their impending decisions, they frequently disregard the wisdom and experience in any such advice. And when the consequences of their poor decisions come to bear, adolescents feign ignorance: "I didn't think this would happen!" they wail. Democrats' love affair with single-payer health care is a textbook example of adolescent thinking. So here are 13 reasons why we must be grown-ups about ridiculous proposals like the one being floated by former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders:

Tattoo Ink

ARE TATTOOS SAFE? INK TOXINS REMAIN IN HUMAN BODY FOR YEARS, STUDY SHOWS
Excerpt: Tattoo ink is made up of various organic and inorganic pigments, which can be tainted with toxic element impurities. Researchers from Germany and France wanted to know whether, and how, this material affects the body. To answer this question, they examined skin and lymph tissue of four tattooed and two non-tattooed human corpses. They found ink in both the skin and lymph nodes of two of the four tattooed patients. Those bodies also had elevated levels of aluminum, chromium, iron, nickel and copper. All four of the inked individuals had higher levels of titanium in the skin and nodes. Using a high-tech X-ray light, the researchers found lymph nodes tinted with the color of the tattoo.

The Jews

The Jews: Don’t Lay the Plame on Me. By Jim geraghty
Excerpt: If Valerie Plame always had a certain interest in anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, it would explain a few things, wouldn’t it? Thursday’s controversy began with former CIA employee Plame tweeting out a link to an article headlined, “America’s Jews Are Driving America’s Wars.” The article’s sub-headline asked, “Shouldn’t they recuse themselves when dealing with the Middle East?” (Got that? If you are a particular religion, you should not deal with Middle East policy at all, because your religion will automatically skew your judgment. Good thing Christianity and Islam don’t have any ties to the Middle East, right? I guess the author would prefer that U.S. foreign policy in the region was managed by Scientologists.) UP NEXT 5 Reasons why Single-Payer is a Bad Idea 00:28 01:30 Powered by The article — which I won’t link to, go find it yourself — was pretty explicit in the insistence that Jews couldn’t be trusted to work on American foreign policy:

The Navy

The Navy – It’s Not a Job, It’s a Total Cluster. By Ray Starmann, Editor in Chief at US Defense Watch
Excerpt: The US Navy, the mighty and heroic service that beat the tar out of America’s enemies for 240 years; the force that won brilliant victories at Midway, Manila Bay, Leyte Gulf, Lake Erie and a thousand other places is no more. The US Navy that refused to surrender and ‘had not begun to fight’ under the leadership of John Paul Jones, is now too incompetent to fight anyone; and every American should be seriously concerned. To paraphrase Oliver Perry, “We have met the enemy and it is cultural Marxism and social engineering.” The latest debacle to engulf the Navy was reported yesterday in a myriad of media outlets, including US Defense Watch. According to Fox News: The majority of ships operating in the U.S. Navy’s Seventh Fleet, where two destroyers have been involved in fatal collisions since June, weren’t certified to conduct basic operations at sea related to war-fighting, according to U.S. Navy records. As of late June, eight of the 11 cruisers and destroyers in the Seventh Fleet, and their crew members, weren’t certified by the U.S. Navy to conduct “mobility seamanship,” or basic steering of the ship, according to U.S. Navy records provided to two House Armed Services subcommittees. (An article I hate to read and pass on. But it's on point, and should be seen by every voting American. If PC insanity is not dialled way back in our military, our actual capacity to take on anyone, anywhere, will continue to plummet. And in this world, we simply cannot afford that. --Del)

Spying

It looks like Obama did spy on Trump just as he did to me
http://thehill.com/opinion/campaign/351495-it-looks-like-obama-did-spy-on-trump-just-as-he-did-to-me Excerpt:  According to media reports this week, the FBI did indeed “wiretap” the former head of Trump’s campaign, Paul Manafort, both before and after Trump was elected. If Trump officials — or Trump himself — communicated with Manafort during the wiretaps, they would have been recorded, too. But we’re missing the bigger story. If these reports are accurate, it means U.S. intelligence agencies secretly surveilled at least a half dozen Trump associates. And those are just the ones we know about. [Note that this item is sourced from The Hill, not exactly a right-leaning outlet.  When Attkisson’s computer hack was acknowledged by CBS, it was a really big deal for those on both sides of the political divide.  For about an hour.  By then, it was plain that Attkisson’s politics were neither leftist enough for the left NOR rightist enough for the right.  The media buried the story, and few cared enough to pay much attention.  Her suit remains in court at this time, though summary dismissal has been denied.  This is an important issue.  Any tactic that can be used by either side can–and will–be used against the other at some future time.  It is in everyone’s interest that these abuses be stopped and punished severely, lest they become routine.  Link may not be live.
