Irish Above All by Mary Pat Kelly

This is the last novel in her Irish Blood trilogy, which started with “Galway Bay.” It’s a fascinating story of Chicago politics in WWII. Kelly carries over her characters from “Of Irish Blood,” and great characters they are. The protagonist, Nora Kelly, home from Paris, becomes a photographer. Ed Kelly becomes mayor of Chicago (there really was a Mayor Ed Kelly). The only historical flaw I noted was Kelly has workers putting rivets into B-52s which didn’t fly until the mid-1950s—and are still in use! I highly recommend this novel, but suggest you start with “Galway Bay.” You won’t be disappointed.
