Man admits to beating daughter with belt
Excerpt: A father, who has been remanded for physically abusing his nine-year-old daughter until she died has admitted to police that he used a belt issued by the military to beat her hours before she died. ...When interviewed, one of them said they had no clue that the father could be so brutal. “He always portrayed a good image. In fact, we could sometimes hear him recite the Quran during the night,” he said on condition of anonymity. Another neighbour said he often heard the father scolding the victim but the girl never confided in anyone. “When we asked her about the swellings and bruises, she would say that she fell from her bicycle,” he said.
