Comcast Strikes Again!

After all the grief Comcast gave me at home, now I'm getting grief from them at work.

I manage a smallnon-profit with about 1,400 members. They pay us dues and one of the benefits is they get a monthly e-newsletter and regular legislative alerts from us. (If a member doesn't want this service, we take his/her address out of the database fiend that generates the list, so this is all wanted and paid for information.)

Those members who have Comcast are not getting them, as Comcast has started screening them as Spam, because they come from a group address.

We are contacting them individually, wasting staff time we can ill afford, to see if they can straighten it out with Comcast, but they are busy, highly-stressed professionals, with limited time and patience for hassles.

If I had a choice, it wouldn't be Comcast. The joy of monopoles!

And just wait until all the "Comcasters" have to get digital converters for their TVs.
Comcast formerly did not have to have them...you could run the cable right to the TV set, unless you had a DVR attached to the hookup.
But now, the encryption demands that customers fork over about $2 MORE a month (per converter) JUST to get the same service they USED to get...

We went with Verizon FiOS...a few bucks more per month than Comcast, but we've got all 3 gigs going - phone, Internet broadband w/ wireless router and cable TV.
The "lesser of several evils" perhaps?

    Yepper...love those monopolies...(not).

  3. Sounds like you live in one of those areas where Verizon isn't available.
    Sucks!
I can't stand Comcast either, but am comforted in the fact they're a lot less self-aggrandizing than my congressman.

  4. You should check into Clearwire. Cheaper and more often than not faster.
