Warren Would Break Up Big Tech. Conservatives, Make Your Pitch.

Warren Would Break Up Big Tech. Conservatives, Make Your Pitch.
Excerpt: ...Warren responded to Zuckerberg’s concerns with something of a war whoop, taking to Twitter to declare that “what would really ‘suck’ is if we don’t fix a corrupt system that lets giant companies like Facebook engage in illegal anticompetitive practices, stomp on consumer privacy rights, and repeatedly fumble their responsibility to protect our democracy.” Zuckerberg’s fear, in brief, appears to be that the attempt of a Warren administration “to break up the [tech] companies” would place Facebook in the unenviable position of filing “a major lawsuit against our own government.” Warren’s response, meanwhile, has been to cede the point, gird herself for battle, and — in the style of the president she both despises and resembles — launch a provocative salvo by openly mocking her opponent. To borrow the language of Zuckerberg’s industry, this looks like a market that could use a bit of disruption. [I get no warm and fuzzy feeling for Zuckerberg and/or Facebook. On the other hand, I despise my Massachusetts junior US Senator. When I look at that finger-shaking, lying, hatchet-faced know-it-all, I’m reminded of the paintings of humorless Puritans all too ready to hang a scarlet letter on those sinners they deem unfit for polite society. In my mind’s eye, I can see her cheering the village constable as he puts someone in the stocks or the ducking chair by the river. Regardless of who the Republicans nominate, I will vote against Warren. Thank God I’ll never have to choose between her and Hillary; I’d be tempted to try to illegally vote twice so I could vote against both of them. They both think they know better than we do about how we should live our lives, and they’re both wrong. Ron P.]
