Old Jarhead's Political SitRep for November 21, 2012

Old Jarhead's Political SitRep for November 21, 2012
Robert A. Hall
Your one-stop-shop for political news and opinion. Please forward to friends who need to be informed. This SitRep (Military for “Situation Report”) is created by many readers who send me items for inclusion, which I would have likely missed or skipped. And I can only spend at most three hours a night pulling stuff, plus the healthcare or economic stuff that crosses my desk at work. As always, I—and you—owe them thanks and appreciation. I post articles because I think they are of interest and will stimulate thought and discussion. Doing so doesn’t mean that I necessarily agree (or disagree) with every—or any—opinion in the posted article, or that I was able to verify the information presented, which is the responsibility of the author. I try not to post things that are false, or too far a stretch, regardless of the view point, but I don’t always succeed. As always on the Net, or in the legacy media, you must read critically and with skepticism.

What would you do?
Someone is shooting at your family. Do you let him, or do you shoot back to stop him? What if he's shooting at your family, while hiding behind a child? Do you shoot or do you let your family be killed? That is the situation that the Hamas terrorists have put Israel in. the wailing calls for a “ceasefire” would have rang true if they had come when Hamas started firing rockets into Israel.

Worth Reading: And To Keep Our Honor Clean. By Andy Weddington
Excerpt: The known standard of behavior applies to all - from private to general and seaman to admiral. And so must accountability - by individual and institution - likewise apply to all. Promotion to flag officer is not entitlement to exemption to the rules but confidence in that officer's ability to exemplify the rules. It's called leadership.

Worth Reading: Too Few Oppressors, Too Many Victims. By Victor Davis Hanson
Excerpt: Yet the new emphasis on tribe is not necessarily a liberal vision. It ignores all human individuality and assumes that friendships, marriages, and alliances will not dare trump racial and ethic solidarity. Ours is now instead a Galadriel’s mirror of the Balkans, of India’s castes, of Rwanda, but no longer of a multiracial melting-pot America, where our allegiances were to be political, economic, and cultural and not necessarily synonymous with how we looked. Obama’s identity politics would create a Frankenstein of patched-together victims, and yet he will rue that it is a different story to use such a creature for constructive purposes. Such monsters are quite valuable when running for office, but can turn on their masters when it is time to govern. (This may well be Hanson’s most important column in years. On reflection, I think one of the chief reasons I took the election’s loss so hard was that I truly viewed it as a rejection of the values, traditions, customs and folkways I’ve devoted my life to. I see my country being divided and subdivided into ever smaller groups that can be—and are—then repackaged into manageable voting blocks. As Hanson points out, this may work well to get elected, but has huge drawbacks when the time to actually govern comes. Groups with no common loyalty are easily divided by OUTSIDE forces, too. When America was a melting pot, we celebrated what we held in common. Now that we are a salad bowl, we glory in our differences and ignore the things we all have in common. Dividing is easy; uniting is hard. Who will we be when there is no more “united” in United States? I’m not sure I want to know. I am sure I don’t look forward to living there. Jesus wept for the loss of his friend; what would he do for the loss of his country? Ron P.)

Worth Reading: Killing The Goose. By Thomas Sowell
Excerpt: Many people think of labor unions as organizations to benefit workers, and think of employers who are opposed to unions as just people who don't want to pay their employees more money. But some employers have made it a point to pay their employees more than the union wages, just to keep them from joining a union. Why would they do that, if it is just a question of not wanting to pay union wages? The Twinkies bankruptcy is a classic example of costs created by labor unions that are not confined to paychecks.

Fighting in Gaza leaves U.S. in difficult position with Turkey, Egypt
Excerpt: The growing outcry has exposed the United States to criticism that it has not done enough to press Israel to agree to a cease-fire. (Simple. We tell our "allies" that we have pressed Israel for a ceasefire and they have agreed as soon as Hamas stops firing rockets at Israeli children. ~Bob.)

Little Lives and Big Lies: On the Front Lines of the Hamas Propaganda War
Excerpt: Throughout the years, terrorist organizations have deliberately targeted Israeli civilians with rockets fired from Gaza for the purposes of maximizing innocent casualties and striking fear into the population. By firing from schools and hospitals, Hamas is essentially committing a double war crime – striking innocent civilians while embedding itself among its own population centers.

RJC: New Poll Shows Republicans Strongly Support Israel’s Actions In Gaza
Excerpt: The Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) noted a CNN/ORC poll released today showing that 74% of Republicans think that Israel is justified in taking military action against Hamas in Gaza. Across the country, 57% of all Americans believe Israel’s actions are justified, with 25% saying the Israeli operation is unjustified.

How to Control Health-Care Costs? Set up incentives and let markets work. By Yevgeniy Feyman
Excerpt: It turns out that the private sector can control health-care costs. A survey just released by the consulting firm Mercer found that employers of all shapes and sizes have done so well at controlling per-employee health-benefit costs that the 2012 growth rate was at a 15-year low. And why shouldn’t it be? Employers have every incentive to keep their costs low and keep their employees healthy and productive. Government mandates don’t change that. (yes, except we have an administration that hates the free market. ~Bob.)

Quotes
There are now reports that President Obama will name Massachusetts Senator John Kerry to be the next secretary of defense. Apparently this is part of America's new defense strategy to bore our enemies to death. –Jay Leno

On questions of economic law it does not matter at all what the electors think or vote or say. The economic laws proceed. –Churchill.

When balance becomes betrayal. By Rabbi Daniel Gordis
Excerpt: Universalism, Cynthia Ozick once noted, has become the particularism of the Jews. Increasingly, our most fundamental belief about ourselves is that we dare not care about ourselves any more than we can about others. Noble Jews have moved beyond difference. (When empathy for the enemy overcomes the desire for self-preservation. Cordially, Larry Greenberg)

Moody's strips France of AAA-rating with one-notch cut
Excerpt: Moody's stripped France of its prized triple-A badge on Monday, cutting the sovereign credit rating on Europe's No. economy by one notch to Aa1 from Aaa, citing an uncertain fiscal outlook and deteriorating economy.

Japan Disproves Fears of Territorial Taxation
Excerpt: Prior to 2009, “Japan’s international tax system bore a remarkable resemblance to that of the United States.” ... In the run-up to 2009, Japan’s leaders became very concerned with the accumulation of foreign earnings held overseas, which increased from ¥138 billion ($1.1 billion) in 2001 to ¥3.2 trillion ($28 billion) by 2006. Officials believed that this pool of earnings represented foregone investment in Japan, and that the barrier to repatriation increased the risk that R&D operations would be moved abroad.

Fiscal Health of States Shows Growing Divergence
Excerpt: While the financial health of U.S. states continues to improve, there is a growing disparity in economic growth between strong and weak states. A report from asset manager Conning looked at several indicators of economic health to determine the fiscal health of strengths, including: economic competitiveness, tax revenue growth, unemployment rate and changes in home value, says the Wall Street Journal. For many weaker states, growing unfunded pension liabilities and higher costs of programs like Medicaid are slowing down economic growth. Stronger states benefit from improving business conditions and growth in employment numbers. Ten states are expected to finish fiscal 2012 with surpluses of 10 percent or more. But states like California, which Conning ranks 44th, will likely end the fiscal year with a deficit.

Why Savings Are Suffering: Fed QE3 Policy Costs Seniors. By Diana Furchtgott-Roth, Senior Fellow
Excerpt: With U.S. and global growth slowing, Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke is pumping more money into the banking system in an attempt to rescue the economy. This has lowered interest rates, reducing the return from savings. Seniors are particularly hard-hit, because 10 percent of their income comes from interest on savings. If interest rates were 2 percent rather than 1 percent, the average senior would have an additional $3,200 in income. If rates were 4 percent, the senior would have an additional $9,500. If rates were 6 percent, the senior would earn $15,800 more per year. Naturally, other parts of seniors’ portfolios are positively affected by low interest rates, so the amounts above are not a net gain. For instance, low rates causes the value of equity investments and housing to rise, so seniors’ portfolios become more valuable.

MSNBC Did No Negative Stories About Obama or Positive Ones About Romney Last Week of Campaign
Excerpt: A new study just released by the Pew Research Center found that in the final week of the just-ended presidential campaign, the “Lean Forward” network did absolutely no negative stories about President Obama or positive ones about Mitt Romney. MSNBC’s coverage of Romney during the final week (68% negative with no positive stories in the sample), was far more negative than the overall press, and even more negative than it had been during October 1 to 28 when 5% was positive and 57% was negative.

Excerpt: Mitt Romney’s Republican Get Out the Vote system (ORCA) had a meltdown on Election Day leaving some campaign workers wandering around with nothing to do. Now Anonymous has released a video claiming responsibility for jamming ORCA. Anonymous has also hacked some 700 major Israeli websites during the current Hamas-Israel war. (Typical leftist tactics. ~Bob.)

Excerpt: If Hamas-CAIR is demanding that a book be removed that accurately describes the virulent anti-semitism in the Quran and Islamic teachings, then the Quran must be removed from every madrassa and mosque for the vicious annihilationist rhetoric and Jew-hatred in it. (The Muslims believe that the Bible was true as written but scribes deliberately changed it. Funny thing that, because the Dead Sea scrolls match up quite well with the corresponding books of the Bible as they are known today, indicating that scribes have been scrupulously copying these texts for centuries. Not only that, there is an internal consistency in the scriptures, that also makes this theory highly unlikely. No other collection of writings in the world was ever written over more than a millennium by so many authors (40) with this uncanny degree of consistency. Yet one man, who lived 400-500 years after the last book of the Bible was completed, claims that HIS book is authoritative and all of the scriptures before him are counterfeits. So the question is: what did the scriptures originally say, who changed them and why, and in what time period did this happen? Also, archeology supports large amounts of scripture, making this Muslim narrative highly questionable even for a non-Christian or non-Jew. I once asked a Muslim on line in what time period all these distortions took place. He didn't respond. But of course, the principle of taqiyya institutionalizes lying and deceit in Islam. Obama personifies this principle. I am waiting for a Muslim to say that the distortions took place at a time after the Dead Sea scrolls were written. Sooner or later, someone will take the bait. But beyond this, note that if the scribes distorted both the OT and the NT, as is claimed, then that suggests that this scribe lived after the time of Christ. So then, how is it possible that the Dead Sea scrolls, presumably written before this scribe's time, turn out almost identical to the OT used by Jews and Christians today. Like Obama, Mohammed was obviously a fake and a liar. And they both wield formidable power. Don Hank)

Rwanda accuses Congo of shelling border town
Excerpt: Rwanda accused U.N.-backed Congolese forces of shelling its territory during a battle with rebels near the border on Monday but said it had no plans to respond militarily to what it called Kinshasa's "provocation". (Things have sure been better for black folks in Arica since they got rid of those evil white colonialists. ~bob.)

Excerpt: Taking down the Twinkie. Clogging Wal-Mart parking lots on Black Friday. Messing with a major airport on the day before Thanksgiving. If unions are trying to be more popular with the American people, they’re doing it wrong.

Investment Falls Off a Cliff: U.S. Companies Cut Spending Plans Amid Fiscal and Economic Uncertainty
Excerpt: U.S. companies are scaling back investment plans at the fastest pace since the recession, signaling more trouble for the economic recovery.

So, economically, how’s the election working out for us? By Bruce McQuain
Excerpt: Or, as before the election, an unstable business climate persists which does not provide any incentive to expand, spend or hire. In fact, as indicated above, it is providing precisely the opposite incentives. It’s one reason the GDP forecast for the country has been downgraded again to 1.5% (Mexico, for heaven sake, has GDP growth of 3.2%). But when you vote for the status quo, well, you get what you vote for — enjoy.

Is This the Double Dip? By Walter Russell Mead
Excerpt: Hopefully, in other words, the roots of the slowing demand aren’t deeper than the foolish political brinkmanship on display in Washington. But, laying aside our hopes for a moment, if, as has happened first in Japan, then the UK, and next the whole eurozone, we were going to have a double dip recession, a collapse in business investment would be one way it would start.

Oliver Stone’s Party Line. By Clifford D. May
http://www.defenddemocracy.org/media-hit/oliver-stones-party-line/
Excerpt: In the 1930s, quite a few people failed to recognize the threat posed by Nazi ideology. In their eyes, Hitler was simply restoring Germany’s wounded pride and rebuilding an economy battered by World War I and the harsh treaty that ended the conflict. Surely, Hitler and the German people preferred compromise to conflict, peace to war. This view turned out to be wrong, of course, and tens of millions of people were massacred as a result.

The "most transparent administration in history." ~Bob. Excerpt: House Republicans are investigating allegations that EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson and other high-ranking agency officials have been conducting official business with email aliases or secret accounts to avoid scrutiny from agency watchdogs and the public.

Left-wing ‘watchdog’ group turns on Obama admin, demands investigation into EPA chief Lisa Jackson’s secret emails
Excerpt: Liberal group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), a self-described “watchdog” organization, has turned on President Barack Obama’s administration for its handling of EPA administrator Lisa Jackson’s alleged use of secret email accounts. On Tuesday, CREW demanded the EPA’s inspector general, Arthur Elkins, investigate Jackson and other EPA employees for using the accounts.

FBI: 4 Local Men Charged in Terror Plot to Kill Americans
Didn't get the "Islam is a Religion of Peace" memo. ~Bob. Excerpt: Four Southern California men have been charged with plotting to join al-Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan in order to kill Americans.

Excerpt: The complaint filed by federal prosecutors yesterday against four California men who were actively planning on joining the Taliban and Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan to kill U.S. soldiers and attack U.S. bases there was led by Soheil Omar Kabir, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Afghanistan. Kabir converted two of the other cell members, eventually radicalizing and recruiting all three other men. He was arrested in Afghanistan.

Didn't get the memo. ~Bob. Excerpt: But she converted to Islam in 2007 and three months ago walked into the house of a Muslim cleric in Dagestan, Russia, wearing a 3lb bomb, and blew herself up - killing eight people including her.

Islamic Jihad Official: All Our Weapons are From Iran
Excerpt: Islamic Jihad deputy chief Ziyad Nahala said on Sunday in an interview with Egyptian television that all of the organization's weapons came from Iran. (Duly noted. Will this act of war be condemned by the United Nations? Don't hold your breath. Robert Spencer, JihadWatch.org.)

Obama's Economy: What We've Learned Since Re-election
Excerpt: In the "now they tell us" file, add a vast array of reports that have come out since the election showing just how weak the economy really is. Looks like the president will need a new scapegoat soon. Here's just a sampling of what we've learned since voters decided to give Obama four more years to "experiment" with the economy.

Rules released requiring pre-existing conditions coverage
http://thehill.com/blogs/healthwatch/health-reform-implementation/268889-hhs-begins-implementing-popular-healthcare-provisionsExcerpt: HHS also began putting in place new limits on how much insurers can vary their premiums — for example, allowing them to charge older patients only three times more than younger customers. The law prohibits insurers from varying premiums at all based on some factors, including gender and health status. (So healthy young people who voted for Obama will have to pay more. Seems fair. ~Bob.)

Massive Fraud, Wasteful Spending Discovered In 'Lifeline' Phone Program
Excerpt: Eyewitness News has discovered a program created to provide low-income Americans with emergency phone services has now grown into a multi-billion dollar program paid for with your money. (Wow. Who could have seen this coming? ~Bob.)

Excerpt: After all, they say, Obama ran a masterful election campaign—conclusive proof that he’s a pro, not an amateur. As usual, my liberal friends are conflating two different Obamas—the campaigner and the president—and in doing so, they are missing an important point. Obama has a political sense, but he lacks an executive sense.

Phony General for a Phony War. By Lucian Truscott IV
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/18/opinion/sunday/a-phony-hero-for-a-phony-war.html?_r=0
Excerpt: The genius of General Petraeus was to recognize early on that the war he had been sent to fight in Iraq wasn’t a real war at all. This is what the public and the news media — lamenting the fall of the brilliant hero undone by a tawdry affair — have failed to see. He wasn’t the military magician portrayed in the press; he was a self-constructed hologram, emitting an aura of preening heroism for the ever eager cameras.

REBUTTAL: A Phony Critique of Petraeus. By Fred Kaplan
http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/politics/2012/11/petraeus_is_phony_the_new_york_times_op_ed_is_wrong_about_military_generals.html
Excerpt: Judging from his op-ed, though, a few things are clear: Truscott romanticizes his grandfather’s era, his view of the modern Army is remarkably shallow, and he seems to have no understanding of what Petraeus was trying to accomplish in Iraq. There is much to criticize about Petraeus, and even more about those wars, but Truscott paints a cartoon portrait—even characterizing its commanders as “Dave and his merry band of Doonesbury generals”—that makes Mad magazine look like social realism by comparison. (What Mr. Truscott overlooks, and Mr. Kaplan obfuscates, is the fact that General Patraeus fought the "war" his political masters ordered him to fight. –TH)

Excerpt: True confession. I told our children that I wouldn’t pay for tuition at an Ivy League college. The boys went to school in Texas, served as Marine officers, and, along with an impressive number of friends, are combating these doctrines and their political/cultural consequences. Just to show that it can be done, our daughter went to school in Massachusetts, got a graduate degree in Italy, served in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and keeps me intellectually alert.

Obama in historic Myanmar visit
Excerpt: But the Associated Press reported that as Obama stood next to the world's most recognized democracy icon, he mispronounced her name repeatedly….Obama also botched the name of his official host, Myanmar's reformist President Thein Sein. As the two addressed the media, Obama called his counterpart "President Sein," an awkward, slightly affectionate reference that would make most Burmese cringe. (Per report, she had quite a look on her face….Barb)

US Secret Service startled by lizards
Excerpt: United States Secret Service agents were taken aback on seeing large water monitors wandering the grounds of Government House during security inspections yesterday ahead of US President Barack Obama's visit. They mistook them for the ferocious, carnivorous komodo dragons found in parts of Indonesia, a Government House source said. … The US security officers also paid special attention to antique cannons at the Government House's lawn. (Told they were antique relics for decoration with no cannon balls. Sheesh….Barb.)

Obama Official Attends “Symposium On Defamation Of Islam’
Excerpt: An Obama administration official reportedly attended a Monday meeting with Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) officials to work on banning any speech that "associates Islam or Islamists to violence." The official was U.S. Consul General in Jeddah Anne Casper (pictured above), and the meeting took place in Saudi Arabia…..OIC got its foot in the door on this subject when its resolution for "religious tolerance" was adopted by the U.N. in December 2011, with strong support from the Obama administration. (Comment on site: TOMG59 I think it's time for us to play Cowboys and Muslims. I can't think of anything good to say about them so I will just let my actions speak for themselves. I still believe in the First and second amendments. Enough said.)

Holder Will Stay ‘About A Year’
Excerpt: Attorney General Eric Holder told President Barack Obama he would remain for only about a year. Mr. Holder’s Department of Justice is filled with controversies. This includes Operation Fast & Furious, the gun-walking operation that placed over 2,000 guns into the hands of Mexican drug cartels and was connected to the deaths of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and 300+ Mexican citizens. (And New Black Panthers with voter intimidation x2, and Benghazigate…Barb.)

From Rwanda To Benghazi, Susan Rice’s Record Of Political Cronyism
Excerpt: It was later revealed that President Clinton along with Madeline Albright, Anthony Lake, Warren Christopher and Ms. Rice were all part of a coordinated effort not only to block U.N. action to stop the genocide, but worked behind the scene to craft public opinion on the issue by removing the words such as, "genocide and ethnic cleansing" from official State Department and CIA Memos. In 1997, when President Clinton sought to promote Ms. Rice to the position of Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, members of the Congressional Black Caucus objected to the appointment based on her history of being part of the Washington Elite Class. …Even as Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, many inside and outside of Washington questioned Ms. Rice’s tenure, as she would reap praise on and worked with certain African Dictators with questionable records.

Turkey’s Prime Minister Accuses Israel Of Ethnic Cleansing In Gaza
Excerpt: Turkish PM continues verbal attack on Israel, accuses it of ‘occupying the Palestinian territory step by step.’ Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday accused Israel of “ethnic cleansing” in Gaza. “Israel is committing ethnic cleansing by ignoring peace in this region and violating international law,” … (What, are the Jews slaughtering Armenians? ~Bob.)

Michael Moore: ‘Drive the rich right off their fiscal cliff’
Excerpt: Liberal film director Michael Moore has big plans for President Barack Obama’s second term, he just needs Obama to hear him out.

Obama In Burma: ‘I Wish I Could… Impose My Will On Congress’
Excerpt: “Now, on other hand, as President, I cannot just impose my will on Congress -- the Congress of the United States -- even though sometimes I wish I could.” Yes, he does. And he does everything in his power to exceed his constitutional bounds. And he said this in Burma, a military dictatorship for decades, shortly after calling it Myanmar, the name for the country used by the military dictatorship. Talk about undermining America on the world stage. (Bolding in original document….Barb.)

Happy ‘Violence, Disease, & Land Theft’ Thanksgiving? This MSNBC Anchor Thinks So

Benghazi, Gaza, and the Killers of CNN. By Roger L. Simon
http://pjmedia.com/rogerlsimon/2012/11/20/benghazi-gaza-and-the-killers-of-cnn/
Excerpt: Has Benghazi helped Israel? It’s hard to calculate the amount, but it seems likely that the evolving Libyan scandal has been useful to Israel in its struggle with Hamas in Gaza. The embarrassing — even humiliating — mishandling and subsequent misnaming of the terror attack on the U.S. consulate/CIA installation has made the administration look quite ridiculous in its claim that al-Qaeda and similar Islamic extremist organizations were on the run.

Lisa Biron, Anti-Gay Christian Lawyer, Arrested On Child Pornography Charges
Excerpt: A New Hampshire lawyer associated with an anti-gay Christian defense group was arrested on federal child pornography charges after allegedly taking a teenager to Canada where she reportedly convinced the girl to engage in sexual activity and let it be filmed.

Iran Shipping More Weapons To Gaza
Excerpt: According to Iran, Gaza’s terrorists need more weaponry with which to fight Israel

Excerpt: After 48 years at 6312 Miriam Circle, the Highbergs -- Nels is 92, Irene is 89 -- figured they could manage a while longer. Family and friends agreed. But the county Office of Aging stepped in last summer, saying for safety reasons the Highbergs must move to a nursing home.

French Youth Declare War on Multiculturalism and Collapse of Western Society
Excerpt: In October, 70 members of the French youth group Génération Identitaire occupied the Poiters mosque to protest against the influence of Islam in France. The youths climbed to the roof and unfurled a banner with the name of their movement…. The youth activists displayed a number of banners including one that read, “Charles Martel beat the Arabs at Poitiers in 732,” in reference to a battle credited with stopping the advance of Islam into western Europe.

Government Website For Immigrants: Come To America And Take Advantage Of Our Free Stuff
Excerpt: A website run by the federal government (“WelcomeToUSA.gov“) encourages new immigrants to the United States to apply for welfare benefits. This website is run by the Department of Homeland Security and it says that it “is the U.S. Government’s official web portal for new immigrants.” So your tax dollars were used to build and maintain a website that teaches immigrants how to come into this country and sponge a living off of federal welfare programs paid for by your tax dollars.

IDF soldier, civilian killed as over 140 rockets hit Israel
Excerpt: Cpl. Yosef Partuk, 18, of Emanuel was killed Tuesday morning in a mortar attack in the Eshkol Regional Council area, the IDF released for publication Tuesday evening. Partuk was posthumously promoted to corporal. The civilian killed was a Beduin from one of the South's unrecognized villages. (140 rockets and they kill one Jew and one Muslim? I was at Da Nang on July 14, 1967 when with 50 122mm rockets, the VC killed about 12 of us, did a reported $50M in damage, if memory serves. Very exciting night, but the communists were more competent soldiers than the jihadists. ~Bob)

The Latest Taxpayer Housing Bust: With the election over, we learn that the FHA is insolvent.
Excerpt: Vindication is overrated, especially in a losing cause, so it brings no satisfaction to have predicted that the Federal Housing Administration would sooner or later threaten taxpayers. That day has arrived. Safely past the election, the feds announced Friday that the FHA's liabilities exceed its assets by at least $16.3 billion—and the gap could reach $93.7 billion in the worst case.

Let me get this straight. The last two GOP secys of state were Colin Powell and Condollezza Rice, and GOP attacks on Susan Rice are racist?

1 comment:

  1. More than once our Dear Leader has expressed the wish that he were not constrained by the Constitution. It is comforting, though, that Benghazi and similar muck ups have all but assured that, should he want to set up his own military dictatorship, the generals will merely laugh at him.
