Random Thoughts for April 2021

 Random Thoughts for April 2021

Robert A. Hall

Feel free to post or forward.

Health update: I’ve been notified that the VA has scheduled me for a hip replacement May 6. They were concern because I’m immune suppressed from my lung transplant in 2013. About 2% of joint replacements get infected, which could be fatal for me. But without it I have a 100% chance of living in increasing pain and decreasing mobility. My surgeon has done both hips and a shoulder in another lung transplant patient without issues. I think it’s worth the risk.

I was so excited that I sent an email to some family and friends with the typo, “Him Replacement” in the subject line. My friend Peter who was in the Massachusetts Legislature with me wrote back: “I assume you meant hip. There isn’t a surgeon in this world who can replace Robert Hall!”

Some time ago I write that young men talk about their sex lives, middle age men talk about their jobs, and old men talk about their health. I definitely fit into the last category.

“Political correctness is fascism pretending to be manners.” –George Carlin

Hollywood should give back the millions they made on Dr. Seuss movies.

"What our generation has forgotten is that the system of private property is the most important guaranty of freedom, not only for those who own property, but scarcely less for those who do not. It is only because the control of the means of production is divided among many people acting independently that nobody has complete power over us, that we as individuals can decide what to do with ourselves. If all the means of production were vested in a single hand, whether it be nominally that of 'society' as a whole or that of a dictator, whoever exercises this control has complete power over us."
-- Friedrich A. Hayek, The Road to Serfdom [1944]

Women’s rights are Islamophobic. Gay rights too.

“A million ‘Landlords’ were killed in the year after communists took control of China in 1948…This holocaust was inherent to the design for People’s War from the outset.” –John Keegan, A History of Warfare. Coming soon to a country near you. ~Bob

If we extend the deployment of the National Guard to Washington, members of Congress should have to eat only what the guardsmen eat.

From Facebook: They are not courageous transgender athletes. They are cowards beating up on girls.

From the Net: Only weak minds are woke.

The story of our Government: Schlimmbesserung is a German word that means “to make things worse through an effort to improve”

Cancel Disney.

I’m working on a book to bring both sides together. It’s called: “Horton hears a wet ass pussy.” (Sorry, but that’s the song they nominated for number one.)

They didn’t cancel Peter Pan because of stereotypes of Indians. They cancelled it because of stereotypes of pirates, which is offensive to politicians.

Have you ever seen “fact checkers” correct a negative post about a Republican?

Well, the country is getting another $1200 stimulus, courtesy of your grandkids. Given the state of the Republic, guns and ammo might be a wise investment.

Racism existed before history when the first person noted that a stranger had slightly different color skin. Sexism has existed since men discovered that being physically stronger than women, they could impose their will on them. Modern western civilization is the first society to try to eliminate them. It won’t be done by banning comic characters.

“The Negro family in the urban ghettos is crumbling. … So long as this situation persists, the cycle of poverty and disadvantage will continue to repeat itself." –Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-NY 1965)

The peace sign is the WWII victory sign. Cultural appropriation from patriots.

Criticizing rape culture is Islamophobic.

I’m beginning to think that Megan and Harry are channeling Perkin Warbeck.

Which is the party of the rich?  Trump had the support of 132 billionaires, Biden of 230. Source National Review.

Anti-vaxers are the new medical luddites.

It’s illegal to vote if your are not 18, not a citizen, or not alive. Democrats call this “voter suppression.

Twenty years from now, progressives will be still blaming Trump for floods in the mid-west and droughts in the south.

Remember when you were concerned about earmarks? They’re back!

Giving children puberty-blockers is child abuse, in order to get warm fuzzies from your progressive Chablis and Brie crowd. Parents that do it should be open to lawsuits from child advocates now, and from the children when they reach 18. Giving little Johnnie mom and dad’s house and IRA to compensate for stunted development would send a salutary message.

Wonder if Joan is too woke to sing this hit anymore?

Men who cannot take a hit will be ruled by men who can.

Happy first anniversary of, “Fifteen days to Flatten the Curve.”

I don’t have to be right, but I notice it often works out that way. Sometimes years later.

So, how many of the illegals Biden is inviting in are COVID-positive. Are they bending the curve up?

When caution costs nothing, be cautious.

Dear President Biden: Thought you would want to know that Trump was in favor of breathing.

A Muslim shoots up a Jewish grocery store and the gun is to blame.

Headline: “President Biden grapples with children at the border.” Me: “Two to one on the children.”

There are some blacks (BLM) and some whites (KKK) who seem determined to increase racism through their attitudes and behavior.

From an Irish song: I’ll paddle my own canoe.

I notice people take being in Facebook jail as a badge of honor.
