General News and Comment

Must Read: Obama’s Untruth, Inc. Let us count the ways: bald lies, lies of omission, mythography, amnesia, redaction . . . By Victor Davis Hanson
Excerpt: We can usefully view the Obama administration’s chronic untruthfulness as a sort of multifaceted corporation of untruth, with all sorts of subsidiaries. ... Remember the al-Qaeda-is-on-the-run 2012-election talking point? It was mostly a lie. The administration deliberately released to sympathetic journalists only those documents from the so-called Osama bin Laden trove that revealed worry and dissension among the terrorists.

Important: Obama Hits a New Low for Leadership, With Criticism on ISIS & Immigration Alike. By Gary Langer, ABC News
Excerpt: Barack Obama’s rating for strong leadership has dropped to a new low in the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll, hammered by criticism of his work on international crises and a stalled domestic agenda alike. With the midterm elections looming, Americans by a 10-point margin, 52-42 percent, see his presidency more as a failure than a success. Just 38 percent now approve of Obama’s handling of international affairs, down 8 percentage points since July to a career low; 56 percent disapprove, a majority for the first time. (A majority of Americans have figured out what I knew in 2008. ~Bob)

Worth Reading: Mob Rule Economics. By Thomas Sowell
Excerpt: While we talk about democracy and equal rights, we seem increasingly to let both private and government decisions be determined by mob rule. There is nothing democratic about mob rule. It means that some people's votes are to be overruled by other people's disruptions, harassments and threats.

White House knew of destroyed emails two months before Congress. By Rick Moran
Excerpt Congressional investigators have released tesimony showing that an attorney for the IRS told the Treasury Department counsel of the destroyed emails, who then passed the information on to the White House. The conversations took place in April - two months before the IRS told Congress of the destruction of evidence. ("You're clear, Barry. We had several 'computer crashes' and immediately shredded the drives and destroyer Learners Blackberry." ~Bob)

Hospital ER in the Windy City readies Navy doctors to deal with battle wounds
Excerpt: Although the wounded man lay in a modern American hospital, saving his life would be no different than caring for a soldier wounded by a bomb exploding under a Humvee. That’s why the Navy is sending its doctors, nurses and medics to Stroger Hospital, a Cook County facility that, in its own way, stands in the middle of a war zone. (I kid you not. What a great advertisement for visiting Chicago. What does that say about us?? Semper Fi. --Micky)

Lost opportunity: With wars winding down, VA’s brain research failed to launch
Excerpt: On the morning of July 1, 2008, Department of Veterans Affairs officials gathered to unveil a state-of-the-art brain scanner they predicted would help revolutionize the understanding of traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder in combat veterans.
The timing, and location, seemed perfect. One of the first studies would scan nearby Fort Hood soldiers before and after they deployed to war in Iraq or Afghanistan — a unique opportunity to study physical changes in soldiers’ brains due to combat. Six years later, the $3.6 million machine sits unused in an out-of-the way corner at the Olin E. Teague Veterans Medical Center in Temple. (Another sad story, this one is really sad, if the machine could eventually help vets with damaged brains, it'd be worth all the millions and more. --Del. The VA has great caregivers, but too often typical [read "awful] government bureaucrats. The folks who will be in charge of your healthcare. Wasted $3.6 million, or as Medicare calls it, coffee money Tuesday morning. ~Bob)

Army can't track spending on $4.3b system to track spending, IG finds. By Mark Flatten
Excerpt: More than $725 million was spent by the Army on a high-tech network for tracking supplies and expenses that failed to comply with federal financial reporting rules meant to allow auditors to track spending, according to an inspector general’s report issued Wednesday.

School Choice Means Higher Teacher Pay
Excerpt: Teachers' salaries would increase if states would introduce school choice, according to a study from Michael Barba and Vance Ginn for the Texas Public Policy Foundation. (yes, but lower union dues, thus lower pay for union bosses and lower contributions for Democrats, so they will fight it. ~Bob)

Quote From The Patriot Post
"[I]t is not by the consolidation, or concentration of powers, but by their distribution, that good government is effected. Were not this great country already divided into states, that division must be made, that each might do for itself what concerns itself directly, and what it can so much better do than a distant authority." --Thomas Jefferson, Autobiography, 1821

Africa Union troops 'raped' girls in Mogadishu, Somalia
Excerpt: African Union (AU) troops raped women and girls seeking medical aid or water from their bases in Somalia's capital, Mogadishu, a rights group says. The troops had "misused" their power over women fleeing violence and poverty, Human Rights Watch (HRW) said. One Muslim girl, aged 15, reportedly had her headscarf ripped off before being raped. 9it's their culture. Who are we to judge another "equally valid" culture? ~Bob)

School Choice Means Higher Teacher Pay

Getting Skittish About Scottish Independence. Suddenly, prospects for 'Better Together' are looking worse. That's lamentable. By Toby Young
Excerpt: Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron has stayed out of the debate because the party he leads is so unpopular in Scotland. In the past three general elections, the Tories have only won a single parliamentary seat in the region and Mr. Cameron's fear is that if he campaigns too energetically for the unionist cause it would make it easier for Alex Salmond, the leader of the Scottish Nationalist Party, to frame the argument as a left-right issue and galvanize anti-Conservative support.

Beware of the UN Takeover of American Water Supplies
http://freedomoutpost.com/2014/09/beware-un-takeover-american-water-supplies/
Excerpt: Millions of children under five die every year due to toxic germ-infested unsafe drinking water. This means that almost four babies a minute die from a lack of water according to UN-Water's estimations. In the 2014 World Water Report released on the eve of World Water Day, the UN said that 768 million people do not have adequate access to water, 2.5 billion do not have access to improved sanitation. Among the deprived are a significant number of people in Detroit. It would seem that the problems of the third world are being visited upon Detroit and soon the rest of the country. (Well, Detroit has a Third World style government... ~Bob)

How the Media Gets It Wrong, Blaming Orthodox Jews for School-district Strife in Monsey
Excerpt: On July 1, I came to town to watch as five Hasidim, two non-Hasidic Orthodox Jews, an African American man, and a Haitian man sat together behind a long wooden table at the East Ramapo Central School District administration building. These men make up the district’s board, and they are the most hated men in town. As Yehuda Weissmandl, the soft-spoken board president, who wore a long black coat and big velvet yarmulke, read the Pledge of Allegiance, the first signs that all is not right in East Ramapo began to percolate from hidden depths to the surface. (East Ramapo is my hometown school district, I attended for 13 years at 3 different schools, all relatively modern, all integrated as we had a diverse community...but as I've said before there was both a spirit of academic excellence and a community that spent time dancing, fornicating, and playing basketball. Fast forward 35 years and things have changed. --George)

It's Time to Stop Putin's Nuclear Arms Buildup: Ukraine isn’t the only place where the White House is letting a belligerent Russia off the hook. By James M. Inhofe
Excerpt: Once again, Russian President Vladimir Putin is flexing his muscles with no serious response from President Obama. Not only did Russia violate the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, signed by President Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev in 1987, it did so while negotiating with the Obama administration over New START, a 2010 arms reduction treaty. The White House was at best naïve to Russian duplicity; at worst it was complicit. (OK, something really worth worrying about. And will this President ever take note of it? --Del)

24,639,000: Record Number of Foreign-Born Hold Jobs in U.S.
TExcerpt: he 24,639,000 foreign-born workers who held jobs in the United States in August was up 557,000 from July, when 24,082,000 foreign-born workers held jobs. ...In the year from August 2013 to August 2014, the number of foreign-born workers holding jobs in the United States climbed by 806,000, from 23,833,000 to 24,639,000....But of the 2,138,000 increase in jobholders from August 2013 to August 2014, the 806,000 increase in foreign-born jobholders equaled 37.7 percent of the total.

The need for a mighty U.S. military. By Mitt Romney
Excerpt: Russia invades, China bullies, Iran spins centrifuges, the Islamic State (a terrorist threat “beyond anything that we’ve seen,” according to the defense secretary ) threatens — and Washington slashes the military. Reason stares. Several arguments are advanced to justify the decimation of our defense. All of them are wrong.( Mr. Romney brings up facts & logic, isn't that just too quaint? What we need is people in power who are ready to stop pushing ever-growing government, get their heads out of the clouds, and accept the realities of this age. And then begin to act like mature adults in making decisions. --Del. "Facts and Logic? The people can't handle facts and logic. No wonder he lost. ~Bob)
Excerpt: Numerous prominent foreign policy think tanks took millions of dollars in grants from foreign governments seeking favorable research and connections to U.S. policymakers, raising questions over whether the organizations should have filed under the Foreign Agents Registration Act. The New York Times uncovered arrangements between 28 U.S. think tanks — including the Brookings Institution and the Center for Global Development — and 64 foreign entities worth at least $92 million.... “There was a no-go zone when it came to criticizing the Qatari government,” Saleem Ali, formerly a visiting fellow at the Brookings Doha Center in Qatar, told The Times. (Qatar backs MB, per article. US working with Qatar. If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck and quacks like a duck....Notice Hillary prominently in the photo. Looks like citizens bought and sold.....who needs spies? --Barb. If you are taking money to help a government hostile to the United States, you are a traitor in my book, regardless of what the law may say. ~Bob)

Excerpt: One of the reasons that I worked for many years as an ill-remunerated doctor in a prison, and used earlier in my life to visit countries torn by civil war, is that extreme situations help to clarify what is important in life. I never arrived in the prison but I wondered how I would react to incarceration, whether I would be a stoic and retreat into myself or be someone who kicked against the traces and made trouble for the authorities just to assert my own continuing humanity. (A very nice explanation of the most unpleasant human truths... should be read by everyone, but most especially by those who think every conflict can be solved by good communication and good will. --Del)

The Pentagon Is Giving Grenade Launchers To Campus Police
Excerpt: What could possibly go wrong here…. In 1968, students at Columbia University staged a mass uprising other college campuses in protesting not just the war in Vietnam, but their school’s collaboration with the Institute for Defense Analysis, a Defense Department affiliate that researches weapons technologies. Today, weapons produced by that institute are used by the US military throughout the world—and by campus police forces across the country. The war has come home.

Daryl Pierson of the Rochester, NY Police Department at approximately 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3. Pierson, an Afghanistan vet and father of two, was the first RPD officer killed on the job since 1959.

Black School Girl Beat Up for Acting 'Too Much Like a White Person.' By Dave Jolly
http://lastresistance.com/7191/black-school-girl-beat-acting-much-like-white-person/
Excerpt: What was the harassment and beating over? The girl doing the attacking told the victim that she was acting ‘too much like a white person.’ Oh yeah, both of the girls, the victim and attacker are both black. The victim has lighter skin than the attacker who has been harassing the victim for over a year. (Black on black violence is both so common and so acceptable, it's hardly noticed by the Media or DOJ. ~Bob)

Memphis attack: Father weeps over video of badly beaten son. By Todd Starnes
Excerpt: As the boy lay helpless on the ground, one of the predators hovered over his prey -- kicking the bag boy’s body. Again. And again. And again. And again.
Every single gut-wrenching kick was captured on a cell phone video that has since gone viral.
“Hold on, they got a white dude,” the person filming said. (Well, I'm sure Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson will be there to protest! Ha! I crack me up. ~Bob)

Undocumented Democrat News

Democrats: Immigration reform will kill us in the 2014 elections
Excerpt: President Obama’s decision to delay executive action on immigration until after the November elections was the end result of weeks of back and forth within the Democratic Party, and fears the actions would damage the party’s election prospects. According to an activist familiar with details of the decision to delay the immigration announcement, Obama’s political advisers became concerned with internal polling in the last few weeks for a handful of states on the midterm elections. (Same reason he delayed so much of Obamacare. Obama and party think that the voters are stupid. Until it hits them in the face as a reality, they will vote D and who cares if they are angry after the election, as they are now when so much of what the GOP said in 2012 turned out to be true. ~Bob)

Huge family detention centre to open in Texas for undocumented migrants
Excerpt: The Texas Observer reports that federal officials are preparing to open the nation’s largest family detention centre, a 2,400-bed facility that will nearly double the current capacity to house immigrant families awaiting deportation. ...The Observer says the centre will be run by the nation’s largest for-profit corrections company, the Tennessee-based Corrections Corporation of America (CCA). The company, which operates more than 60 detention centres and prisons across the country, has been mired by controversies that include inmate abuse, falsifying official records and aggressive lobbying tactics.

Second wave of 30,000 undocumented children expected to cross border
Excerpt: A second wave of about 30,000 unaccompanied minors is expected to cross the U.S. Mexico border in September and October, according to the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants. Right now, immigrant experts say it's just too hot for them to cross. So far, 62,000 undocumented children have arrived over a six-month period.

Excerpt: The plan, he said, is to allow many new foreign professionals and plus many existing illegals — “the millions of people who are here, in many cases, for a decade or more” — to stay in the United States.... “When I take executive action, I want to make sure that it’s sustainable,” he said. “I want to spend some time, even as we’re getting all our ducks in a row for the executive action… to make sure that the public understands why we’re doing this, why it’s the right thing for the American people, why it’s the right thing for the American economy,” Obama added. (Like decree will be permanent and cannot be revoked? Don't like the natives? Bring in the foreigners; they're more dependent and malleable, especially if sick, indigent and cannot speak the language to figure the lies. --Barb)

Medical staff warned: Keep your mouths shut about illegal immigrants or face arrest
Excerpt: In spite of the threat, several former camp workers broke their confidentiality agreements and shared exclusive details with me about the dangerous conditions at the camp. They said taxpayers deserve to know about the contagious diseases and the risks the children pose to Americans. ...The sources said workers were guarded by a security force from the BCFS, which the Department of Health and Human Services hired to run the Lackland Camp. (Per article, "security" at base hired by DHS and referred to themselves as "the brown shirts." One psychiatrist was concerned that mental health needs NOT met; reported several suicidal individuals and staff were told they could not hospitalize; said one "child" who was suicidal and approaching psychosis was sent to live with a family. This is criminal, folks. The article says the psychiatrist reported the case to Child Protective Services and quit her job. How did we miss this article? The article notes BCFS is NOT the Baptist Family and Children's Services, but a paramilitary contractor from DHS, calling themselves "the brown shirts" who stripped phones from doctors and nurses and would fire them if found on them. --Barb)

According to the limited immigration group, while the “native” working age (16-65 years old) North Carolina population has increased by 61 percent since 2000, the share of “natives” in that state’s work force has declined.

Religion of Peace News

Worth Reading: A President Whose Assurances Have Come Back to Haunt Him. By Peter Baker, New York Times
Excerpt: When President Obama addresses the nation on Wednesday to explain his plan to defeat Islamic extremists in Iraq and Syria, it is a fair bet he will not call them the “JV team.” Nor does he seem likely to describe Iraq as “sovereign, stable and self-reliant” with a “representative government.” And presumably he will not assert after more than a decade of conflict that “the tide of war is receding.” As he seeks to rally Americans behind a new military campaign in the Middle East, Mr. Obama finds his own past statements coming back to haunt him.

Success or Failure? By Thomas Sowell
Excerpt: Those people who say that President Obama has no clear vision and no clear strategy for dealing with the ISIS terrorists in the Middle East may be mistaken. It seems to me that he has a very clear and very consistent strategy. And a vision behind that strategy. First the strategy – which is to get each crisis off the front pages and off television news programs as quickly as he can, in whatever way he can, at the lowest political cost. Calling ISIS a junior varsity months ago accomplished that goal.

Excerpt: In the course of an hour-long debate with Gardner in Grand Junction, Colo., Udall said that “ISIL does not present an imminent threat to this nation.” He cited his membership on the Senate Armed Services Committee and the Senate Intelligence Committee to substantiate that assertion, and he even invoked the names of the American journalists murdered at the hands of the Islamic State in the course of his pleas for restraint. “I can tell you,” Udall said, “Steve Sotloff and James Foley would tell us, don’t be impulsive.

UN Envoy: Some of ISIS' Suicide Bombers...Are Children. By Daniel Doherty
Excerpt: It’s impossible to prove conclusively, I think, that ISIS is “systemically” beheading children, despite disturbing photographs and images that have surfaced online. But the United Nations has confirmed that ISIS is, in fact, murdering children.

Obama: ‘I Should’ve Anticipated The Optics’ Of Golfing After Foley Beheading [VIDEO]
http://dailycaller.com/2014/09/07/obama-i-shouldve-anticipated-the-optics-of-golfing-after-foley-beheading-video/#ixzz3Cf1NloqD
.Excerpt: The president claimed it’s “always a challenge when you’re supposed to be on vacation, because you’re followed everywhere. And part of what I’d love is a vacation from the press –.” “I promise you, in two and a half years I think that happens,” Todd joked. (Hard to listen to video. "It was hard to hold back my tears." Right. Your insurance will cost less and you can keep your insurance and doctor, too. --Barb)

The Islamic State vs. the Islamic Republic: It's a pity somebody has to win.
Excerpt: IS have established a slave market in Mosul, where women are sold for prices ranging from $5-25. Christian and Yezidi places of worship and Shia mosques have been systematically vandalized or destroyed by the advancing Islamic State forces. That the Islamic State is committing crimes against humanity is clear. (Your US tax dollars at work, courtesy of Regime. --Barb Let's hope for a war of attrition. ~Bob)

Video: Top Ten Quran Verses for Understanding ISIS
Worth knowing. ~Bob

Islamic State Executes Female Doctors and Politicians: The string of brutal executions continues, as IS in Iraq continues its killing rampage of all those who do not submit to it.
Excerpt: According to reports six people, including three women, were executed in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul by IS terrorists on Saturday publicly and without trial. Witnesses told AFP that the terrorists broke into the homes of the two female doctors who refused to treat members of their group, as well as the home of a female candidate that ran unsuccessfully in parliamentary elections for the US-backed Iraqi government, shooting all three and taking their bodies with them. The recent act follows the execution of a female doctor two weeks ago who refused IS's orders to dress "modestly" and cover her face with a traditional Islamic veil.

Children of the Caliphate: Junior jihadis play with severed heads and enjoy crucifixions. By Steve Robson
Excerpt: More disturbing images posted by ISIS reveal youngsters revelling in the bloodbath as Muslim leaders urge young people not to join extremists

White House official: The Islamic State is the next administration’s problem
Excerpt: Appearing on CNN on Wednesday, the deputy national security advisor told Wolf Blitzer that the fight against ISIS may be – like the once-defunct War on Terror – a generational struggle. ...Blinken said that throttling the nascent Islamic State in the crib is a project for the next occupant of the Oval Office.... “It’s going to take time, and it will probably go beyond even this administration to get to the point of defeat.” (US regime has built this group up, supplied it; more stonewalling to let it grow. --Barb. Yes, it's long out of the crib...~Bob)

Quote from a blog post attributed to an active duty Marine
But we were told to go and we went and some of us died or were maimed both physically and emotionally….. So today, we watch Iraq devolve into chaos and know that Afghanistan is destined for the same. We question the sacrifices made on behalf of a country incapable of understanding the realities of war. We are told ‘thank you for your service’ and we feel like punching that good intentioned person in the throat so they can never utter that phrase again….. And this is where we are. And America doesn’t have a clue.” (Welcome to the world of the Vietnam vet. Though I like it when folks say "Thank you for your service." I tell them, "It was a privilege to wear the Marine Uniform." ~Bob)

Defending the Jewish State. By Steven Aiello
Excerpt: A month later I returned to New York as an NYU undergrad. Then the long war began. In the coming months, my fellow pro-Israel students and I faced protests, one-sided panels, movie screenings and other events designed to ostracize Israel. As co-president of the Israel club at the NYU Hillel, I tried unsuccessfully to engage our critics.

Excerpt: “Spreading corruption in the earth” is not a “bizarre new charge” concocted by the Iranian regime; it is a particular offense in Islamic law, for which penalties are delineated in the Qur’an: “The only reward of those who make war upon Allah and His messenger and strive after corruption in the land will be that they will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land. Such will be their degradation in the world, and in the Hereafter theirs will be an awful doom” (5:33).
