More on the Oregon shooter and other important political news

Reedsburg, WI Farm Art Tour, 10/3/15

Oregon Shooting
I was sitting in a 110 person class at the U of O when this news broke. I looked around. 2 exits, both behind me. A Virginia Tech style shooting happened in an identical set up. That shooter chained one door shut, and then walked in the other and opened fire. Am I armed? No, because every god damn morning when I arrive to my parking spot just off campus, I take my 9mm off my hip and leave in it in my truck and walk to class. Why? Because I don't want to be expelled for breaking a "rule". Its absolutely obnoxious that, having passed all required background checks to conceal carry, and having had more than enough training on the safe use of firearms, I am required to be a potential victim just like the other 109 students in my class. Enough of this bullshit is enough. --Fred. Security guard was unarmed. Politics will certainly take over before those bodies go cold. --Quang

Gunman identified in shooting at Oregon college that left 10 dead
Excerpt: The gunman who killed nine people and injured seven at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Ore. Thursday before being killed by police has been identified as Chris Harper Mercer, two law enforcement sources confirmed to Fox News. ... Kortney Moore, 18, told the News-Review she was in her Writing 115 class in Snyder Hall when a shot came through the window. Moore said she saw her teacher get shot in the head. The shooter then reportedly told the students to get on the ground before asking people to stand up and state their religion.

Excerpt: Regarding the race of the shooter and his motivations, the Daily Beast reported that the shooter admired the black Roanoke shooter who expressed racial motivations for his actions. They also wrote, “The father is Caucasian, Evans said, while Mercer’s mother, Laurel Harper, is black.”

Ore. shooter left behind online portrait of a lonely youth with a grudge against religion
Excerpt: Mercer was mixed race, according to an Internet dating profile that appeared to come from him, yet his e-mail address referenced an iron cross, a symbol often associated with Nazis.

‘He became a hero': Army vet Chris Mintz confronted Oregon shooter, family says
Excerpt: Mintz, 30, was attempting to block the door of the classroom when he encountered the gunman, his aunt Wanda Mintz told The Washington Post. Her nephew was shot three times, then fell to the ground. In that moment, she said, he tried to reason with the gunman.

Worth Reading: Active shooters in schools: The enemy is denial. Preventing juvenile mass murder in American schools is the job of police officers, school teachers, and concerned parents
Excerpt: The challenge for law enforcement agencies and officers, then, is to overcome not only the attacks taking place in schools, but to first overcome the denial in the minds of mayors, city councils, school administrators, and parents. Grossman said that agencies and officers, although facing an uphill slog against the denial of the general public, must diligently work toward increasing understanding among the sheep that the wolves are coming for their children. Police officers must train and drill with teachers, not only so responding officers are intimately familiar with the facilities, but so that teachers know what they can do in the event of an attack. (It is nothing short of a juvenile fear that prevents otherwise rational, intelligent people from recognizing the common sense in this article. Grossman didn't just elicit some foreign, new, strange concept. His recommendations are known quantities by every War Fighter who has ever lived. Unfortunately the protected, are revulsed by what the War Fighter knows to be true, and so seek ineffective, self-defeating, impotent measures to protect their most precious possessions; their children...they also seek to blame the wrong people for the evil that is visited upon them. Curious. What causes otherwise intelligent men and women to ignore the obvious? Fear, and willful ignorance. You can't fear what you do not know, you cannot know what you choose to ignore, you don't have to prepare for what you have chosen not to see. What is coming in the form of an ideologically driven hunter, melded ever so deceptively with the unwitting American populace, will make these sick school shooters pale in comparison. People had better begin to take the blinders from their eyes,, while they still have eyes to cover... --John Bernard)

Putin imposes his own reset on a helpless Obama. BY ANDREW MALCOLM
Sadly, no suggestions or ideas here on what we could or should be doing now, which I assume is because there's no point to any such suggestions, Obama & crew will not be taking any sort of action whatsoever to effectively oppose Putin.  The Russian knows he's got 15 more months to run as wild as he wants to, which will only make him more popular in Russia and cement his hold on power there.  In January 2017 Syria and the rest of the Middle East will still be one horrible mess, since Russia and Iran will have nothing to stop them from all their games. After that, what a new President and Administration can begin to do to make any sort of positive difference there will be a huge question and challenge. --Del

Meanwhile, An Islamic Fifth Column Builds Inside America. BY PAUL SPERRY
Any actual examination of the tenets of Islam, impartial studies in comparative religion going back 50+ years that I know of, all point out that the full tenets of Islam is not just a faith system, like Christianity, but is a total system for life, including government and all laws regulating normal human behavior.  It demands theocracy as government, exactly the way Iran is run today, and as many parts of the ancient Islamic world were run.  This is why the ISIS guys proudly proclaim they are the "true Muslims", because they live under a caliphate, which is a religious state under the command of an accepted religious leader. Kemal Ataturk specifically changed Turkey into a secular state after WW1, in order to bring some progress to the society.  In fact all the Muslim world except Saudi Arabia basically went to secular governments, and most still have them today.  Pakistan and Egypt and others all now have fundamentalist movements within them, which the rest of the society resists, since all the evidence of what life is like under fundamentalists from experience like when the Taliban was running Afghanistan pretty much convinces most people, especially women, that they don't really want to have their lives run by fanatic men devoted to every comma in Sharia Law. Yet the ideal of turning the world Muslim and everyone living under Sharia has been promoted heavily for the last 40 years or so of the rise of fundamentalism, so that all kinds of otherwise intelligent people come to think of it as a good idea.  Even as they live very freely, prosperously, and happily in the USA, Canada, and other Western countries.  And plenty of their leading figures, when pressed, admit to those feelings and that goal.  (But none of them are rushing to move to ISIS territory, or Saudi Arabia, or any other Muslim country.  Whereas we do see some fundamentalist Jews move from the US to Israel.  Interesting.) Understanding that this psychology does exist among some Muslims in the USA is not Islamophobia, it's simply recognizing a reality.  It doesn't mean that a lot of them are going to start building bombs or trying to insist that Sharia Law be an alternate system for them to live by.  It does mean some fraction of them will never identify themselves as Americans, with any affection or devotion to this country.  That is unfortunate, but of course there are plenty of others born here who don't really have any regard for the country either.  Freedom means you don't have to be patriotic, and freedom is what we Americans believe in, cherish, protect, for ourselves and everyone else here. I am not paranoid about Muslims in general, and still believe in immigration open to those who are willing to go through the process and pledge loyalty to the nation.  But none of us should be blind to the realities of religious fanaticism as it so plainly exists in the world today. --Del

Muslims Say They Will Make It Legal to Rape White Christian Women When They Take Over Europe

Germany's Sharia Refugee Shelters. "Bulk of Migrants Cannot Be Integrated." By Soeren Kern
It appears that the only safe thing to do is carefully sort out the people and put the different groups in very different places, even the Muslims from different countries into different places.  But that's one more huge complication on an already enormous task, so I doubt it will happen.  And since they aren't going to have police living in the middle of the camps, the violence inside them will continue, with the largest groups oppressing the smaller ones.  Which means of course that the few Christian refugees will be lucky to stay alive at all, the Kurds and Yazidis will be in major danger as well.  What a terrible mess. This is the direct result of silly and stupid naïveté on the part of Merkel and others like her, who refuse to look at the sad and harsh realities of the multiple intercultural conflicts inside all the Middle East societies, and the intransigence, intolerance, and arrogance of the fraction of fundamentalist Muslims who are fleeing the violence of other Muslims but can't seem to learn anything by that.  This is why we know the road to Hell is paved with Good Intentions. Intent is nice, but appreciation of reality is critical; too many nice people hang on to visions of how people are and  how situations can work out that are basically pleasant fantasies.  And in trying to do good, they bring on harm, and then are completely puzzled. --Del

Excerpt: Half a century ago, Democrats looked at the country and realized they were never going to convince Americans to agree with them. But they noticed that people in most other countries of the world already agreed with them. The solution was obvious. So in 1965 -- 50 years ago this week -- Sen. Ted Kennedy passed an immigration law that has brought 59 million foreigners to our shores, who happen to vote 8-2 for the Democrats. Democrats haven't won any arguments; they changed the voters.

Worth Reading: Justice and the Obama Justice Department. By Michael B. Mukasey, Former U.S. Attorney General
This is a really excellent discussion of our present Dept of Justice and what happened to it under the Obama Administration and the tutelage of Eric Holder.  Most people are aware that its focus became different than in prior times, with its head declaring he was not interested in crimes involving Blacks as perpetrators, but very interested in alleged crimes by Whites against Blacks.  Several career members of the department quit over the new policies, and one of them has been writing about the department and its various actions since. The defining characteristic of the USA has been that we are a Nation of Laws.  This is meant to say that every person gets held to the same standards as set down carefully on paper, as laws considered and established by the representatives elected by the people.  The statue of justice holds scales and weighs a blindfold, and that is not just cute symbolism, it's the very heart and soul of the idea of justice.  (In the ideal of course, and since human beings are involved, we cannot expect or demand perfect justice all the time.  But it has to be a workable system.) The discussion of how the system changed and the terrible dangers of the corruption of the system is important, very important, to the entire nation.  Starting in 2017 the repair of the system must begin, with a new and vigorous Atty General focused and determined to restore its function to the impartial and effective enforcement of the laws. --Del

Obama Administration And UN Announce Global Police Force To Fight 'Extremism' In US
Excerpt: On Wednesday, Attorney General Loretta Lynch announced at the United Nations that her office would be working in several American cities to form what she called the Strong Cities Network (SCN), a law enforcement initiative that would encompass the globe. This amounts to nothing less than the overriding of American laws, up to and including the United States Constitution, in favor of United Nations laws that would henceforth be implemented in the United States itself – without any consultation of Congress at all.  The United Nations is a sharia-compliant world body, and Obama, speaking there just days ago, insisted that “violent extremism” is not exclusive to Islam (which it is).

"Israel is not just defending itself but you."
This is Netanyahu addressing the UN just yesterday.  It is a very direct, factual, powerful speech, that spells out the insane and utterly shameful behavior of so much of the world, choosing to ignore the decades long, totally consistent, utterly fanatic drive of Iran and others in the Muslim world to wipe out completely Israel and the Jewish race. And he makes one point that everyone seems to miss.  Iran wants to build ICBM missiles.  But they already possess missiles that can reach Israel.  So who is it so far away that they want to be able to drop nukes on?  Japan maybe, or Korea or Mongolia?  I doubt it.  More like the other large nation that they chant about delivering death to every day. --Del
