Political News--your right to read it brought to you by veterans who died for you

General News and Comment

Sen. Liz Warren--the early years

Worth Reading: Leader of U.S. veterans coalition renews Patrick Henry’s call to liberty
Excerpt: Though it is customary over the Memorial Day weekend to render flowery speeches about our departed veterans who sacrificed their lives for our freedom, this will not be one of them. This year marks the 240th anniversary of the commencement of the Battle of Lexington (though some may argue that the Revolution began at the Battle of Point Pleasant, here in West Virginia). This year is also the 70th anniversary of the defeat of the Nazis and Tojo in World War II. Each event a high point in our nation’s history. However, it also marks a sad anniversary, the 40th anniversary of the fall of Saigon to the North Vietnamese, when the lives and sacrifices of American and allied South Vietnamese soldiers were disgracefully discarded by cowardly politicians. Since that fateful day in April 1975, it appears that our armed forces have rarely been permitted to fight to win. ("Our obligations to our country never cease but with our lives." —John Adams)

Worth Reading: Jade Helm, Part II: Is the Concern Warranted? By Tom Kratman
Excerpt: Is the exercise Jade Helm 15 inherently suspicious because it’s militarily indefensible? That’s one of the arguments against it I’ve read or heard being bandied about. It’s not a valid argument. I assume you’ve all read this week’s assignment,1 but just in case you didn’t, here’s a brief rundown of the important points, for purposes of today’s column: A. There are five functions of training: Skill Training, Conditioning, Development, Selection, and Testing (of doctrine and equipment). B. In the absence of valid conditions, standards are completely meaningless. One of the arguments against Jade Helm 15 is that all of this could be done just as well on a military installation or a series of them. Since where it is done, as with where war is waged, is a condition, let’s contemplate how true that is. Special Forces must operate among a civilian population, in the course of its Unconventional Warfare (UW) mission. How do civilians act? Anyone who has ever been on a military base will note that in ways large and small, the military population, the Department of the Army (or Navy, etc.) civilian population, and the dependent population all act differently from a genuinely civilian population. Indeed, with the armed forces being all encompassing lifestyles, it would be quite bizarre if they didn’t act differently. (Tom Kratman is a retired USA LtCol, an occasional contributor to this blog, and an outstand author of military science fiction, including the A Desert Called Peace series. ~Bob)

Liberals Disgrace Memorial Day. By Kurt Schlichter
Excerpt: But Barack Obama, like the rest of the liberal elite, cares nothing for our soldiers or our veterans, or the fact that hundreds of thousands of them died for the rights he treats like a rash – the right to speak freely, the right to worship as we please, the right to have our voices heard through our elected representatives instead of having our voices suppressed by neo-fascist bureaucrats and our representatives bypassed by a would-be strongman who wishes he could rule by decree. Like everything about the Community Organizer-In-Chief and his cronies, everything about the carefully choreographed charade we’ll see this Memorial Day is a lie.

What Hillary Needs To Know From Small Business Owners
Excerpt: Hillary Clinton claiming she will slash red tape, expand capital, and cut taxes all for the small business owners. Here is the voice of a few small business on Fox News. They discuss whether or not Hillary Clinton is even the right person to be ding this or not. Watch for more details.

"We are Helpless" by Robin of Berkeley
Excerpt: And it’s just not Berkeley that is ravaged by random street crime. The nearby cities, particularly Oakland, Richmond, Emeryville, El Cerrito, have a barrage of bloody, gruesome crime of its own on a regular basis. And, yet, one wouldn’t know it from the attitudes of the people who live around here. This is where helplessness comes in. Because if people don’t actually talk about reality, then terrible things happen. It’s simply common sense: if bad people aren’t stopped from doing bad things, they do more of it. They become brazen. And they attract more bad people to do bad things as well. So why, then, can people not see what is going on before there eyes? Given that a local, beloved, gardener at the Zen Center can’t walk to her car after a wedding without being bludgeoned to death, why do people not see the danger to them and their loved ones?

Minimum Wage? McDonald’s To Open A Restaurant Run By Robots In Phoenix
Excerpt: After seeing a decline in earnings for the first time in nine years, McDonald’s plans to do something no other store of its kind has ever done before; open a store run entirely by robots. (The laws of economics are hard, and they punish the ignorant first. ~Bob)

Pray For Graccident—–It Will Trigger The Demise Of The ECB And The World’s Toxic Regime Of Keynesian Central Banking. David Stockman
Excerpt: surprising that in a few short months Yanis Varoufakis has proven himself to be a thoroughgoing Keynesian statist. After all, what would you expect from an economics PhD who co-authored books with Jamie Galbraith? The latter never saw an economic malady that could not be cured with bigger deficits, prodigious printing press “stimulus” and ever more intrusive state intervention and redistribution. n what is apparently a last desperate game theory ploy, however, Varoufakis has done his countrymen, Europe and the world a favor. (If Sockman is right and I think he is, then the end of the European Central Bank is near and the EU economy is about to collapse. And then what? Well, what if China, which got to be the no. 1 world economy thru thrift and hard work (aside from whatever mistakes it may have made), would be the only country left that could pick it up again. But would it do so without some badly needed strings attached? Like demanding that Europe drop the Keynesian-socialist nonsense and act like a real economy again. This outcome is not a prediction but it is a dream of mine. The same could happen with the Keynesian-based US economy. t would be a wonderful thing to watch the West guided by the East into living within its means and reining in the runaway spending. Keynesianism is nothing but the flesh and blood embodiment of general spiritual failure, as I pointed out here --Don Hank)

Video: Georgia family wants Berghdahl held accountable
Excerpt: Excerpt: Master Sgt. Mark Allen of Loganville was among them; he risked his life during the search and he will never be the same. He cannot speak for himself now. He is paralyzed and needs constant care because he was shot in the head by an enemy sniper in Afghanistan. Allen was wounded while he and his fellow Georgia National Guard soldiers were trying to find and rescue Bergdahl soon after he disappeared in 2009. (How many more will be killed by the released terrorists? ~Bob)

Interesting: China’s coming crash? By Robert J. Samuelson
Excerpt: On any list of calamities threatening the world economy, a China crash ranks at or near the top. Just what would constitute a “crash” is murky. Already, China’s sizzling rate of economic growth has declined from 10 percent annually — the average from the late 1970s until 2011 — to 7 percent, which is still high by historical standards. The question is whether the deceleration continues and growth goes much lower. A faltering China could tip the world back into recession. Because China is a huge customer for raw materials (grains, metals, fuels), their prices would remain depressed. (A faltering China might be forced to cut back its efforts to recreate the "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere." I recommend this must-read book by a leading US Government China expert: The Hundred-Year Marathon: China's Secret Strategy to Replace America as the Global Superpower by Michael Pillsbury

Gun News

Smart Gun Company Touted By Democrats Files Chapter 11-Style Restructuring. By Awr Hawkins
Excerpt: On May 20, smart gun manufacturer Armatix admitted they have entered into “chapter 11-style restructuring proceedings in Germany.” Armatix makes the iP1 smart gun, which Democrats raved about and pushed to mandate as the only gun that could legally be sold in New Jersey in 2014. Democrats were joined in this effort by gun control groups like the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. The iP1 is only chambered in .22 long rifle and costs $1,800 per gun. The .22 lr is a meager round for self-defense coupled with a price tag that is over three times the amount Americans pay for .45 caliber Glock, and nearly four times the amount Americans pay for a .38 Special polymer revolver from Ruger.

Police: Victim Turns Gun On Armed Robber
Excerpt: The victim took off running on foot and the thief reportedly opened fire.
The person being shot at allegedly returned fire, hitting the robber several times.

Video: Armed Black Driver Holds White Carjacker at Gunpoint for Police
Excerpt: his carjacker definitely picked on the wrong guy to rob. Hashim Fannin had just pulled into a Family Dollar parking store parking lot in Atlanta when an older white guy hopped in the passenger seat and said, “You know what this is.” Fannin pulled out his gun and ordered the guy to the ground. While the carjacker was on the ground, being held there at gunpoint by the armed black driver, he claimed that he wasn’t trying to rob the man. He thought the driver was his friend. Yeah, that’s what they all say.

'Black America would have done much better with a white president': Comedian Byron Allen launches searing attack on Obama in rant about Baltimore and race
Excerpt: Byron Allen has branded President Barack Obama 'a white president in blackface'.
The comedian, who is also black, gave a rambling interview to TMZ about Obama's description of rioters in Baltimore as 'thugs', which he said was unjustified. He accused the president of not acting 'like a black man' and of failing to 'stand up' for the African American community, which is being 'failed by the system'. Black people, he concluded, have never been worse off, adding: 'Black America would have done much better with a white president.'

Excerpt: The antipathy towards police from Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and prosecutor Marilyn Mosby has now lead to a huge rift in trust between a Democrat city government that has allied itself with gangs, looters, and rioters. and the Baltimore Police. The police are now in a defensive posture amid concerns that they are being targeted for ambush from criminal gangs, and are not rushing to calls without support.

18 shot this weekend in Baltimore
Excerpt: Another two people were shot, one of them fatally, in separate incidents on Sunday among at least 18 shootings over Memorial Day weekend, during a particularly alarming spate of gun violence. Thirty-three people have been killed so far in May, the first time the city has had 30 homicides in a month since June 2007. No month in the last 15 years has had more than 33 killings.

Excerpt: Alcohol and stupidity are a deadly combination. In early January, a group of four drunken white thugs began shouting racial slurs at two men in a Waffle House who seem to have done nothing to provoke them. As the group of hoodlums was leaving, one tried to shake hands with the men to whom they’d been directing the slurs. One of the men shakes the hand of one of the bigot, but the other shakes his head no and refuses, at which point the bigot punches him in the face without apparent provocation. The victim pulled his concealed handgun and warns his attacker to back off, as he himself begins to back away.

Undocumented Democrat News

Can Marco Rubio Make Peace With Conservatives on Immigration? By Ken McIntyre
Excerpt: Some conservatives wrote off Marco Rubio as a prospective candidate for president because of the Florida Republican’s work on, and advocacy for, the Gang of Eight immigration reform bill. The first-term senator began to talk about that legislation as a mistake, though, as he moved toward his April 13 announcement that he was formally entering the race for the White House. Even so, he mentioned the immigration issue only once as he declared his candidacy at Miami’s Freedom Tower, a former immigrant-intake facility.

Obama's record on national security, public safety a failure: DHS amnesty report - National Law Enforcement
Excerpt: The Department of Homeland Security's inspector general reported that his office discovered the enormous agency doesn't keep records how immigration enforcement is managed to avoid compromising national security and the safety of the American public. According to a report appearing on Sunday in the Heritage Foundation's daily news outlet -- the Daily Signal -- prosecutorial discretion is a legal process that's supposed to be applied on an individual case involving an individual. Unfortunately, the Obama administration unilaterally applied prosecutorial discretion large numbers of illegal aliens. (More depressing and alarming news about how our government is NOT really protecting us from the problems of uncontrolled illegal immigration. --Del)

Global Warming Continues To Pummel Polar Ice Caps By Not Causing Them To Melt. By Matt Vespa
Excerpt: As I've written previously, we’ve experienced the calmest Hurricane season in 30 years, the quietest tornado season in 60 years; the creation of 19,000 Manhattan islands worth of sea ice, and (again) the Arctic Ice Cap has grown by 533,000 square miles. In 2007, the BBC warned the cap could vanish by 2013. Oh, and we’re at the most industrialized point in human history–and air quality couldn’t be better, according to the EPA. Now, the polar ice caps aren’t melting. In fact, they haven’t retreated at all.

Awkward: CIA Shuts Down Climate Research Program After Obama Frames Climate Change as National Security Threat. By Leah Barkoukis

Excerpt: An Air France plane was escorted to JFK Airport in New York City this morning after an anonymous threat was made against the flight -- one of several threats made to multiple airplanes bound for different U.S. airports, law enforcement officials told ABC News. The FBI said the plane has since been checked and cleared with "no incidents or hazards reported on board the flight by either the passengers or its crew."

Bob Woodward Shoots Down Story That Bush Lied to Get U.S. in Iraq War, Implies Obama Troop Pullout Was Wrong Move. By Dave Urbanski
Excerpt: “I spent 18 months looking at how Bush decided to invade Iraq … lots of mistakes, but it was Bush telling George Tenet the CIA director, ‘Don’t let anyone stretch the case on WMD.’ And he was the one who was skeptical,” Woodward told host Chris Wallace.
More from Woodward: “And if you try to summarize why we went into Iraq, it was momentum. That war plan kept getting better and easier, and finally at the end people were saying, ‘Hey, look, it’ll only take a week or two.’ And early on it looked like it was going to take a year or 18 months, and so Bush pulled the trigger. A mistake certainly can be argued, and there’s an abundance of evidence. But there was no lie in this that I could find.” But as for Obama’s decision to pull out all the troops from Iraq, Woodward strongly implied that he would have been better off following the military’s advice by keeping 10,000 to 15,000 troops in Iraq “as an insurance policy.”

This is news? Defense Secretary: Iraqi Army Has No ‘Will To Fight.’ By Matt Vespa
Excerpt: Last week, ISIS forces took over Ramadi. It was their most significant victory in months. It also showed that airstrikes weren’t working in stopping the fledgling terrorist organization from taking more territory in Iraq. Moreover, when Iraqi government forces retreated from Ramadi, they left various U.S.-supplied vehicles, including tanks, behind that are now considered to be in the hands of ISIS. Secretary of Defense Ash Carter said that the Iraqi army wasn’t outnumbered, but they a lacked the “will to fight.” Iraqi government officials said such allegations of no Iraqi fighting spirit were “baseless” (The Iraqi army carefully studied the defense of France in 1940. Our problem is that ISIS is fighting for a religious ideology, the Iraqi Army is fighting for a poor paycheck. ~Bob)

Aging South African Mercenaries Hitting Boko Haram Hard
Excerpt: With little to no employment opportunities in their home country of South Africa, aging white apartheid-era soldiers are signing on with private armies to take on Boko Haram. And they’re making an impact. Dozens of villages have been liberated and hundreds of women and girls have been freed after years of forced slavery and subjugation as “bush wives” to terrorists. (Somewhere, Mad Mike and his Wild Geese are smiling. ~Bob)

UK jihad suicide bomber is 5th pupil of the same school to join the jihad. By Robert Spencer,
Excerpt: Has the school been shut down? Investigated? Scrutinized in any way? Or would that be “Islamophobic”? “British Isis suicide bomber in Ramadi offensive revealed as Fatlum Shalaku, the fifth former pupil of the same school to die,” by Loulla-Mae Eleftheriou-Smith, Independent, May 24, 2015:

Iraq warns jihad terror ‘spillover’ will affect entire world. By Robert Spencer,
Excerpt: This is why Hillary Clinton is wrong when she says, “This has to be fought by and won by the Iraqis.” This is not an Iraqi civil war. It is a much larger conflict than that — but that is something that the likes of Hillary Clinton are not disposed to admit. Al Mutlaq is obviously correct when he says, “Terrorism is not plaguing Iraq alone but is spilling over. If it does, it will affect the stability and security of the whole world.” But in the West, our governments are pretending that the ever-increasing number of Muslims plotting jihad attacks in accord with calls from the Islamic State, and the also increasing number of Muslims trying to join the Islamic State, do not collectively constitute any manner of challenge that need be met with anything other than “outreach” and assurances that they’re aware that the Islamic State has nothing to do with Islam.
