Old Jarhead's Political SitRep for April 25, 2013

Old Jarhead's Political SitRep for April 25, 2013
Robert A. Hall

I will be out of pocket for Medical Tests Thursday and Friday of this week and traveling on business next week Wednesday through Sunday. I expect to have limited time and limited computer access, so SitReps will be spotty—sorry. On Friday, I will post an excerpt from my book, The Coming Collapse of the American Republic titled “The Next Terrorist Attack on America” which seems timely. This is what I have long feared—pray to God that I am wrong.

We are looking forward to spring here in Chicago—probably just another month or two away. ~Bob

Stella Tremblay, New Hampshire Legislator, Says U.S. Government Planned Boston Bombing
Excerpt: A Republican state legislator in New Hampshire is claiming that the United States government is responsible for the Boston Marathon bombing. State Rep. Stella Tremblay (R-Auburn) posted on conservative talk show host Glenn Beck's Facebook page Friday that the attack and the subsequent search for suspects was playing out how Beck had suggested. (She's as stupid as liberals suggesting--hoping--it had to be a Tea Party Conservative. Anyone who voted for her should be embarrassed. ~Bob.)

Boston Bomber Exposes Islamist Secret
Excerpt: Now he's in trouble. It is one thing for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to be seen on security camera videos placing one of the bombs that killed three people at last week's Boston Marathon. But now he's really crossed a line. Tsarnaev is telling investigators he and his brother were motivated by religion to plot their carnage, media reports citing anonymous federal sources say. Radical Islam. It's a label banned by the Obama administration. National Islamist groups say it doesn't belong in conversations about terrorism. Tsarnaev didn't get the memo.

Excerpt: Canadian police officials have linked the plotting of two Muslim men to destroy a Toronto passenger train to al Qaeda's network inside Iran. The two suspects, neither of whom are Canadian citizens, were taken into custody yesterday and are facing terrorism charges. One of the suspects had placed an image of al Qaeda's banner in a social media site. The image has since been removed.

Have you ever tried North Korean food?..........Neither have they

Mosque that Boston suspects attended has radical ties
Excerpt: The mosque attended by the two brothers accused in the Boston Marathon bombing has been associated with other terrorist suspects, has invited radical speakers to a sister mosque in Boston and is affiliated with a Muslim group that critics say nurses grievances that can lead to extremism. Several people who attended the Islamic Society of Boston mosque in Cambridge, Mass., have been investigated for Islamic terrorism, including a conviction of the mosque's first president, Abdulrahman Alamoudi, in connection with an assassination plot against a Saudi prince. (And who funds the mosque? And if you opposed building it, you would have been a racist [what race are Muslims, anyway] Islamophobe. ~Bob.)

Excerpt: Can George W. Bush’s critics (or anyone for that matter) provide one single example of that good man accusing his domestic political opponents of lacking arguments or engaging in deceitful practices? Did he lash out at Democrats when they obstructed his attempts to reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac or at liberal special interest groups who helped scuttle his efforts to reform Social Security? Did that Republican accuse good-faith Democratic efforts to control federal spending as “thinly veiled social Darwinism“? (Did Democrats, in the Bush Era, even make any good faith efforts to balance the budget even as they faulted the Republican for his deficit spending?)

The fact is that many (most?) channels treat moderate voices as "boring". If you're not saying something outrageous you're not newsworthy.

Ed Henry: WHCD swag suite is 'disgusting.' By Nikki Schwab
Excerpt: For White House Correspondents' Association President Ed Henry, a celebrities-only gifting suite was just too much. "I was just stunned because it sort of sounded like it took [the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner] to a whole new level, a disgusting level," Henry told Yeas & Nays. "This dinner is not about swag, it's about scholarships," he continued.

Game of Thrones on the High Peaks. By Walter Russell Mead
Excerpt: Is there an Asian country with which China doesn’t have a territorial dispute? Or a neighbor that China doesn’t repeatedly poke in the eye? Today it’s India’s eye getting poked: Chinese troops reportedly ventured into Indian territory in Ladakh and set up camp six miles inside the border. (When the dynasty is strong, the Middle Kingdom expands. ~Bob.)

Five years ago, 79.4 million Americans were not in the labor force. Today, that number is 91.1 million -- 11.7 million more Americans.

Man charged in 2012 fatal hammer attack had history of mental illness
Excerpt: About a week before Michael Davis was arrested last April for allegedly hitting five people with a hammer and killing one of them, he stopped taking medication for mental illness, according to new documents filed in D.C. Superior Court. (According to the FBI, more people are murdered with hammers than any kind of rifle, “assault” or otherwise. So isn’t it time to ban hammers? If we can save just one life… ~Bob.)

Liberalism: Up is Down, Down is Up — Got It. By Allan Erickson
Excerpt: Decades of developing poison gas and biological agents, along with efforts to develop nuclear weapons, and actual use of gas to kill thousands upon thousands of people in Iraq and Iran: not WMD. Pressure cookers: WMD. Wringing the necks of full-term newborns, not murder. Legally carrying out the death penalty, or defending yourself on the battlefield: murder.

By the way, Hillary Clinton cut security in Benghazi before 9/11/12, and then lied about it
http://dailycaller.com/2013/04/23/by-the-way-hillary-clinton-cut-security-in-benghazi-before-91112-and-then-lied-about-it/#ixzz2RNpfrEXz
Excerpt: Gee, you mean it wasn’t all caused by some stupid YouTube clip? You mean they lied, and then lied about why they lied, and kept lying and kept lying and kept lying, dragging us on and on through their hall of mirrors until everybody just gave up?

Interesting: Consensus and Controversy
Excerpt: In open societies where both scientists and the general public are equipped with critical skills and the tools of inquiry, not least enabled by the information revolution provided through the Internet, the ethos of science as open, questioning, critical and anti-dogmatic should and can be defended also by the public at large. Efforts to make people bow uncritically to the authority of a dogmatic representation of Science, seems largely to produce ridicule, opposition and inaction, and ultimately undermines the legitimacy and role of both science and politics in open democracies. (Written by Emil A. Røyrvik, this paper was prepared for the Norwegian Society for Science and Technology for Society (SINTEF), the largest independent research organization in Scandinavia. It takes a very close look at the current state of climate science, quoting scientists and sources that will sound familiar to all TOJ readers because we also quote them frequently. At 82 pages, this is a long, but rewarding, read aiming largely at the philosophy of science. The excerpt is from the author’s conclusions on p. 69. --Ron P.)

Worth Reading: Immigration Reform Helps Politicians, Not The People. By Thomas Sowell
Excerpt: Whose interests are immigration laws supposed to serve — and whose interests do current immigration reform proposals actually serve? To have any immigration policy serve any purpose, the border must first be secured. Otherwise, American immigration policy exists only on paper, and is mocked by what happens on the ground, as masses of people cross the border illegally in disregard of whatever policies are embodied in our laws. Moreover, all the people who cross the border from Mexico are not Mexican. They can easily include Middle East terrorists.

Top Muslim cleric boycotts Qatar meet attended by 'Jews'
Excerpt: Influential Muslim cleric Yusuf al-Qaradawi boycotted an inter-faith dialogue conference that opened in Doha on Tuesday, rejecting to sit in the meeting also attended by Jewish representatives, a local daily reported.

Worth Reading: Islamic Jihad is the Problem. By Christine Williams
Excerpt: A growing problem of Muslim youth engaging in jihad terror activity is getting brushed off as a Western problem of being racist toward Muslims and making them feel alienated and/or angry, when in fact the root of the problem resides within the Muslim community at large. … Despite the recent acts of terrorism against innocent citizens and the ongoing jihad in all its forms, excuses were made which blamed the victims and exonerated the perpetrators:

The Human-Hating Roots of the Green Movement. By Arnold Ahlert
Excerpt: Stanford professor Paul Ehrlich was the third man behind the Earth Day cult. Ehrlich’s claim to fame was The Population Bomb, a book that predicted societal disintegration, and hundreds of millions of deaths from famine–by the 1980s–due to the “cancer” of human population growth. In 1969 Nelson and Ehrlich decided that a nation enthralled by the ethos of Woodstock was ready for a nationwide teach-in on environmentalism.

Important: Bomb Suspect Influenced By Mysterious Radical. By Adam Goldman
Excerpt: In the years before the Boston Marathon bombings, Tamerlan Tsarnaev fell under the influence of a new friend, a Muslim convert who steered the religiously apathetic young man toward a strict strain of Islam, family members said. Under the tutelage of a friend known to the Tsarnaev family only as Misha, Tamerlan gave up boxing and stopped studying music, his family said. He began opposing the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. He turned to websites and literature claiming that the CIA was behind the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and Jews controlled the world. (As I said, the survivor will say why—Islam—to justify himself, but we have no chips to get information on anyone who helped him. He knows we won’t water board him, and his sentence will be to “The Twelfth of Never” regardless. I don’t believe he will get the death penalty, as politicians are claiming, because he’s Muslim. If he was secular terrorist like Tim McVeigh, it would be different, but they won’t want to stir up the Islamists. They might hurt us. ~Bob.)

Mayor Tom Menino Reconsiders His Stance On Death Penalty After Boston Marathon Bombings
Excerpt: And after the moment of silence, Mayor Tom Menino, in an uncharacteristic turn, called for the death penalty for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. “I have never supported the death penalty but I will say in this one I might think it’s time this individual serves his time with the death penalty,” Menino said. (Political bloviating. How about death for a “doctor” who allegedly clipped the spines of living babies in “full birth abortions”? ~Bob.)

Baga clashes: Nigeria army seizes heavy weapons
Excerpt: Nigeria's army has said it seized rocket-propelled grenades during last week's fighting in Baga - believed to have been one of the first times Boko Haram has used heavy weapons. It says 37 people were killed, while others maintain at least 185 died. The army says 30 members of the Boko Haram Islamist group, one soldier and six civilians died.

Excerpt: It is cruelly ironic, but the massive law that was enacted to solve the problem of the uninsured in America is more likely to worsen it. This would be true even if the program is perfectly implemented and all the provisions come online on time and within budget. How could this be? It is a multistep process. Stay with me for a second. (Sen. Baucus, the lead sponsor of the PP&ACA called it a train wreck. He’s right—but I knew it would be in October of 2008. ~Bob.)

Democrats Panic Over Obamacare 'Train Wreck': Analyst: 'A lot of them are very worried that it's going to be a sloppy mess'
http://mobile.wnd.com/2013/04/democrats-panic-over-obamacare-train-wreck/#hEOI61aTqIKDOsgq.99
Excerpt: Less than a week after declaring the health-care law he largely wrote a “train wreck,” Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., said he will not seek a seventh term in 2014.
The news comes as a surprise to many, given that Baucus was actively fundraising until very recently. However, Baucus has dipped significantly in popularity, due in part to his prominent role in authoring and helping to pass the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

See Senator Baucus Jump to Avoid the Train Wreck
Excerpt: This is an intense video of a head on track collision! If you look closely just before they wreck you will see a guy jump out of the oncoming train! (The jumper would be Senator Max Baucus.) ~Bob.

Rand Paul: Hillary's Benghazi story unraveling: 'Surprised' by claim she had no knowledge of arms deals
Excerpt: Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., was “surprised” by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s sworn testimony in a Senate hearing in which she claimed that she did not know whether the U.S. mission in Libya was procuring or transferring weapons to Turkey and other Arab countries. It was Paul who asked Clinton the question during the hearings. His inquiry focused on alleged weapons shipments out of Benghazi to arm the rebels fighting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime. (Are we ever going to get the real, full story on Benghazi? Don't wait by the phone. –Del. Ah, the Sergeant Schultz defense: “I know nothing….” ~Bob.)

Worth Reading: The Right’s Undeserved Stigma: The Left’s eagerness to pin violence on the Right is ridiculous. By Jonah Goldberg
Excerpt: Over the last few years, the invariably unjustified rush to pin violence on the “right-wing” — particularly the tea partiers — has reached the point of parody. Remember when New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg speculated that the foiled Times Square bomber might just be angry about Obamacare? (The media feeds the myth creation. ~Bob.)

How long until liberals start pressing for a mosque to be built at the Boston Marathon finish line?

The Gun Control Poll That Might Finally Shut The Media Up
Excerpt: According to the poll, only 47% of Americana are as angry or disappointed as the corrupt media. On the flip-side, 39% are happy the bill failed, 10% were "none/other," and 3% had no opinion. The poll not only blows a fatal hole in the lying media's 90% Nonsense-Narrative, it also helps to explains why Piers Morgan is no longer bragging about his ratings.

The truth is incorrect. By Pat Condell

America’s Insane Asylum for Jihadists, Hustlers and Frauds. By Michelle Malkin
Excerpt: In the aftermath of the Boston Marathon killing spree by foreign-born jihadists, see-no-evil bureaucrats in Washington are stubbornly defending America’s lax asylum policies. DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano told the Senate Tuesday that the screening process is rigorous, effective and extensive. These people can’t handle the truth. Or tell it.

Bad Karma: Obama admin kept funding Fisker while knowing it was failing. By Ed Morrissey
Excerpt: Stop me if you’ve heard this before. An administration walks into Congress and insists on billions of dollars to “invest” in green-tech startups, then loses its shirt on bad bets — even while knowing the bets were bad. If that sounds like Solyndra, well, you’re right — but it’s also part of a pattern in which Barack Obama and the White House have treated taxpayer funds like Monopoly money. CBS and the AP unveil the latest example of this pattern, Fisker Automotive, which continued to get millions in taxpayer funds even while failing to meet the conditions of its loan: (No money for White House tours or TSA at the airports, though. Thankfully, White House Celebrity Concerts were not affected. ~Bob.)

The cops fired 200 bullets at SpeedBump and the only thing that killed him was his brother running him over. But 7 round magazine for you.

CNN Metaphor Fail: “It’s as Though a Bomb Had Dropped Somewhere”
Ah, Susan, did you miss the bombs? ~Bob.

Quote from The Patriot Post
A new Gallup poll shows that 55% of Americans say their income taxes are 'fair.' I'm guessing that'd be the 47% who pay none, plus a few Obama cabinet appointees. –Fred Thompson

Samurai sword-wielding Mormon bishop comes to aid of woman being attacked
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/04/23/samurai-sword-wielding-mormon-bishop-comes-to-aid-woman-being-attacked/
Excerpt: A Samurai sword-wielding Mormon bishop helped a neighbor woman escape a Tuesday morning attack by a man who had been stalking her. (Will Democrats now demand a ban on large-blade assault swords? ~Bob.)

Jamie Hahn succumbs to wounds; police seek murder charge
Excerpt: Jamie Hahn, a Democratic Party strategist and the wife of strategist Nation Hahn, died overnight from wounds suffering in a knife attack. (We must ban knives, which are used in more murders than rifles. If we can save just one life…~Bob.)

Russia contacted US government ‘multiple’ times
Excerpt: Russian authorities alerted the US government not once but ``multiple’’ times over their concerns about Tamerlan Tsarnaev -- including a second time nearly a year after he was first interviewed by FBI agents in Boston -- raising new questions about whether the FBI should have focused more attention on the suspected Boston Marathon bomber, according to US senators briefed on the probe Tuesday. (Can’t blame them. A charge of Islamophobia is career ending. ~Bob.)

Inmates, (female) officers indicted in bribery sex scheme
Excerpt: Dozens of inmates and correctional officers face charges on allegations of bribery in which inmates used sex to gain influence over officers. … "Correctional officers were in bed with BGF inmates, in violation of the first principle of prison management," said U.S. Attorney Rod Rosenstein. (Interesting list of names of the officers. ~Bob.)

Deadbeat dad finally caught
Excerpt: State Marshal Charles Valentino had been pursuing Winston, who owes more than $15,000 in back child support for his two children, for about a year and had nearly given up hope of finding him until he read a story in the Connecticut Post about Winston's efforts to take over the leadership of the local NAACP chapter.

Obamacare’s PR Problem: Not Just a Flesh Wound. By Walter Russell Mead
Excerpt: Nevertheless, Obamacare’s poor public image problem isn’t going away. Today’s coverage alone links the law to everything from adjunct pay cuts to underfunded insurance programs to states forcing people off their current plans. And that’s not to mention the many predictions about rising costs and lost coverage.

American football industry is on its deathbed. By John Kass
Excerpt: Lawyers are circling football now. For years they've had their wings locked, cruising overhead, but lately they've swooped in low, landing and hopping over to take chunks out of the great billion-dollar beast. But it's not the lawyers who are the death of football. Blaming lawyers misses the point. Like their counterparts in nature, lawyers are merely the cleanup crew. What finishes football are the parents of future football players. (Football is about the only sport I like to watch. We used to play tackle without equipment in the Marines. But I fear he’s right. ~Bob.)

UNREAL… John Kerry Compares Boston Marathon Victims to Mavi Marmara Thugs
Excerpt: This is so outrageous! John Kerry, on behalf of Barack Hussein Obama, has the gall to compare the innocent victims of the Boston bombings to the thugs on the Mavi Marmara who suffered at the hands of Israeli soldiers who were forced to defend themselves from a bunch of Islamic thugs. Shame on you, John Kerry! Once a traitor, always a traitor.

Excerpt: The governor from a thriving free-enterprise state travels to the U.S. counterpart of Greece and Cyprus with an invitation: Come to where folks are friendly to business.
Texas' Rick Perry arrived in Illinois Monday to lure businesses away from a state that we and other's have dubbed "America's Greece" — beleaguered by debt, punished by regulations and subject to ever-rising taxes — to one that's leading the pack in job and economic growth.

The Problem Isn't Just Illegal Immigration, It's Legal Immigration, Too. By Ann Coulter
Excerpt: In addition to the four dead and more than 100 badly wounded victims of the Boston Marathon bombing, let's consider a few of the many other people who would be alive, but for Kennedy's immigration law: … The many African-Americans murdered by Hispanic gangs in Los Angeles in the last few years, including Jamiel Shaw Jr., a star football player being recruited by Stanford; Cheryl Green, a 14-year-old eighth-grade student chosen for murder solely because she was black; and Christopher Ash, who witnessed Green's murder.

After Student is Suspended and Arrested for Wearing NRA “Protect Your Rights” Shirt,100 Students Wear Shirt To School!
Excerpt: Jared Marcum returned to school wearing the SAME SHIRT. Moreover, he was joined by 100 other students wearing NRA “Protect Your Rights” shirts that were provided by Sons of the Second Amendment. None of them were suspended or arrested for wearing the shirts.

'Stop Thinking We're Violent,' the Terrorist Thought. By David Frum
Excerpt: "[H]e was angry that the world pictures Islam as a violent religion.”
