Old Jarhead's Political SitRep for April 22, 2013

Old Jarhead's Political SitRep for April 22, 2013

Seriously? Obama: 'This has been a tough week'
Excerpt: Obama warned, cautioning against ascribing motivations to "entire groups of people." (Does this mean that he and Holder and the Southern Poverty Law Center and the rest of the leftist crowd will stop “ascribing motivations” to all gun owners, evangelical Christians Tea Party member and bitter clinging white males? Not likely. ~Bob)

Will the Islamic Terrorist bomber talk?
Everyone is celebrating taking him alive so he'll tell us what his motives are and if he had any help. As to motives, you have to be a politically correct idiot (redundant I know) k\not to recognize Sudden Jihad Syndrome, where a moderate Muslim next door goes Jihad and starts killing kuffer for Allah. Likely his older brother from reports was an Islamist long ago, roped him into murder of the innocent. I think he's likely to talk about Allah and Jihad to justify his crimes, thus bringing fourth another round of "we can't judge all Muslims." That's true. But it is also true the rest of us cannot tell when one will go Jihad on us. As to talking about help, what can we offer him? He knows we won't shoot him or water board him. What are we going to offer if he talks? Reducing his time from four consecutive life terms to three? He will know, talk of not, he will never see daylight again, but that we will feed and care for him and the ACLU will ensure he can worship his god as he sees fit. Except with more bombs. ~Bob

Quote from Jonah Goldberg
More seriously, my pretty obvious point ("Do you make any other kind?" -- The Couch) is that we now live in a climate where there's a ghoulish appetite to transform every act of terror and murder into a useful plot point in a political narrative. This is a bipartisan phenomenon, and while I think you could make the case that the Left is worse (in fact, I will in just a minute), it's silly to deny that we don't do the same thing. Moreover, given where we are as a country, it is unavoidable. This sort of thing is too seductive. The Left desperately wants every terrorist attack to be conducted by Rush Limbaugh's biggest fan, so it's impossible not to cheer when the Left is disappointed. And given the outrageous double standards that the Left -- and the elite "responsible" media -- use to demonize the Right, the urge to throw it back their face is irresistible. (From The Goldberg File—worth subscribing to from NRO. ~Bob)

Chinese ship runs into protected reef in Philippines—while transporting 11 tons of illegal anteater meat
Excerpt: A Chinese vessel that ran into a protected coral reef in the southwestern Philippines held evidence of even more environmental destruction inside: more than 22,000 pounds of meat from a protected species, the pangolin or scaly anteater.

Excerpt: In America, all atrocities are not equal: Minutes after the Senate declined to support so-called gun control in the wake of the Newtown massacre, the president rushed ill-advisedly on air to give a whiny, petulant performance predicated on the proposition that one man’s mass infanticide should call into question the constitutional right to bear arms. Simultaneously, the media remain terrified that another man’s mass infanticide might lead you gullible rubes to question the constitutional right to abortion, so the ongoing Kermit Gosnell trial in Philadelphia has barely made the papers — even though it involves large numbers of fully delivered babies who were decapitated and had their feet chopped off and kept in pickling jars.

Excerpt: One of the Chechen terrorists who carried out the Boston Marathon bombings should have been deported years ago after a criminal conviction, as called for by U.S. immigration law. Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the 26-year-old killed in a wild shootout with police, was a legal U.S. resident who nevertheless should have been removed from the country after a 2009 domestic violence conviction, according to a Judicial Watch source. (Better those people die than some bureaucrat be charged with Islamophobia. ~Bob)

Worth ReadingBorder Security Games. By George H. Wittman
Excerpt: Miraculously the border between Mexico and Arizona has suddenly been declared substantially free of illegal crossers. Having announced last year that more illegal entrants had been caught and deported, the Department of Homeland Security recently has noted that the illegal immigration that previously had been such a problem for Arizona was now far reduced. Without questioning the actual statistics — which certainly could be done — the real issue is the political implication of these claims for the currently contemplated immigrant legalization programs. (The writer of this piece is a good friend, and often writes zingers for American Spectator. This is one such zinger. He has served in intelligence, lives not far from the border, and he knows of what he writes. With 2014 looming as a make-or-break election year, this kind of word must get out often as possible. Even to Rubio's office. Ever, Chet. Chet is a friend, blog reader, Naval Aviator, Former CIA agent and the author of the excellent thrillers The Iran Covenant and The Woolsorter’s Plague. ~Bob.)

God said no to alcohol but yes to blowing the legs off runners. Because that's sane.

Bad news for Tamerlan - his 72 virgins were all Harvard Women's Studies majors.

Egyptian Muslims attack a suspected Christian woman
Excerpt: This is a 1.30 min short video of Egyptian Muslims attacking a women, they believe to be Christian! No proof requested! (Our support of the Arab Spring is destroying Egyptian Coptic Christianity. Never forget what our own despicable traitors in Washington DC did to this woman and thousands of her fellow Christians. --Don Hank)

IL Dems Revolt Against Gun Control Law
Excerpt: Democrats enjoy a supermajority in the Illinois House of Representatives, holding 71 seats to the GOP's 47. On Wednesday, the same day the US Senate voted down gun control legislation, powerful Democrat Speaker Michael Madigan tried to push a restrictive gun control measure through his chamber. The result was an open revolt by downstate Democrats, with almost half the Democrat caucus joining the GOP to kill the measure. The bill went down 31-76, a rare defeat for the legendary Madigan.

Excerpt: The Vice President of Egypt’s Freedom & Justice Party today linked the Islamic Jihad in Boston to the broader issues and strategies of the global Islamic Movement. Speaking about the events in Boston Essam al-Erian stated in an interview, “This series of events began with the sending of French battalions to Mali in a war against organizations that are said to belong to al Qaeda.” He links all acts of jihad together as being part of one great war. Are they? And is what America experienced in Boston just one battle in a much larger war? (Former Marine Officer and counter terrorism expert for the FBI. And we give Egypt fighter jets... ~Bob)

These Soldiers Did the Boston Marathon Wearing 40-Pound Packs. Then They Helped Save Lives.
Excerpt: At 5:20 a.m. on Monday, four hours before the Boston Marathon's elite runners took off, a group of 15 active-duty soldiers from the Massachusetts National Guard gathered at the starting line in Hopkinton. Each soldier was in full combat uniform and carried a "ruck," a military backpack weighing about 40 pounds. The rucks were filled with Camelbacks of water, extra uniforms, Gatorade, changes of socks—and first-aid and trauma kits. It was all just supposed to be symbolic. … "You never think you're gonna need it, but you always have to have a contingency plan," says Lieutenant Stephen Fiola of the 1060th Transportation Company, who worked with the Military Friends Foundation to organize the march.

Is this the mosque that the Boston Marathon Muslim terrorists are alleged to have attended?
Excerpt: On May 22, 2010, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick embraced the radical leadership of the Muslim American Society (MAS), including Imam Abdullah Faarooq who told followers they must “pick up the gun and the sword” in response to the arrests of local Islamic extremist Aafia Siddiqui and terror suspect Tarek Mehanna.

Many Thanks, But Just Wait
As we each in our own way mourn the victims of the most recent Muslim terrorists, watch and wait to see how quickly our citizenry will forget the unwavering bravery of the police involved. Many of us have no contact with our police and have no idea what they have to deal with each and every day. We've all heard of isolated police abuses. But, where I live we have the most professional police force that anyone could wish for, and any abuse is swiftly dealt with. They all face uncountable dangers every day without complaint, as do the police throughout the nation. Our President will never denounce these terrorist acts as being part and parcel of a world-wide Muslim assault against the "Great Satan", our country which has been so accepting of every person and group for hundreds of years. It's hard to believe that we've gotten to the stage where we willingly bring people like this into our nation. And, despite our laws having been broken,http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3009899/posts?page=1, are unwilling to deport them. Had our DHS followed the law none of this would have happened. Someone needs to take the blame on this one, but you can guess who will not. Regards, --Rod

Worth Reading: Leon Kass: The Meaning of the Gosnell Trial. Leon Kass: The Meaning of the Gosnell Trial. By Sohrab AhmarI
Eminent bioethicist Leon Kass on the dangers of a world increasingly indifferent to matters of human dignity. The trial of Kermit Gosnell—a Philadelphia doctor charged in January 2011 with, among other things, murdering seven infants who survived abortions he performed—has been under way for a month. But it was only last week that the case was thrust into the national spotlight. Thanks to intense pressure from conservative critics of the media's apparent lack of interest in the case, the rest of the country has now glimpsed some of what went on for years in Gosnell's benignly named Women's Medical Society. Investigators who raided the clinic in 2010 saw "blood on the floor" and smelled "urine in the air," according to the grand jury that indicted Gosnell. They also found "fetal remains haphazardly stored throughout the clinic—in bags, milk jugs, orange-juice cartons, and even in cat-food containers." Members of Gosnell's staff testified that the abortionist would deliver babies who had been gestating for as long as 30 weeks, far longer than the 24-week limit imposed by Pennsylvania law. Gosnell or staff members would gouge the infant's neck with scissors to sever the spinal cord, according to the grand jury report. Gosnell referred to the method as "snipping.

Worth Reading: Chechen Jihadists and the Dangerous Lies of the Liberal Media. By Paige Perkins
Excerpt: Chechnya is a majority Sufi Islamic nation, but ultra-conservative Wahhabism has been gaining strength in recent years and sending a wave of violence and fear throughout Chechnya. Wahhabis believe in the literal interpretation of the Qur’an. The majority Wahhabi state of Saudi Arabia produced the 9/11 terrorists and Osama Bin Ladin. The Saudi government is also funding Wahhabi schools in the United States. This has been a concern of those following the issue, mainly because textbooks from the schools teach violent and racist Islamic doctrine.

20 Questions Liberals Can't Answer. By John Hawkins
Excerpt: 1) A few days ago, we were hearing that the Boston Marathon bombers COULD BE conservative, which proved that the Right is evil. Now, when we know that the terrorists are Muslims, how can the same liberals be saying that it means nothing?

My Thoughts On Boston April 19, 2013 By David Horowitz
Excerpt: Watching the news about the Boston bombing and the Muslim fanatics who perpetrated the deed, I cannot help reflect on all the nasty attacks that liberals and progressives and Muslim activists have conducted against conservatives who have attempted to warn Americans that their enemies are religious fanatics driven by an apocalyptic hatred of us because we are Jews, Christians, atheists, democrats – in a word, infidels.

NYPD vindicated --Will the AP apologize? By Bob McManus
Excerpt: Looks like it’s time for the Associated Press to give back its Pulitzer Prize. Just as it’s time for politicians — and especially the press — to stop chewing on Police Commissioner Ray Kelly’s leg over the NYPD’s so-far-enormously-successful anti-terrorist surveillance programs. Knock wood on the “successful” part, of course. If America has learned anything about terrorism since 9/11, it’s that the threat is incessant, though hugely unpredictable as to source, specific motivation and any given terrorist’s tool kit of choice.

Worth Reading: Chicago Tribune features Hamas-linked CAIR rep Ahmed Rehab worrying about "backlash" against innocent Muslims
Excerpt: This always happens: every time there is a jihad terror attack or foiled plot, the mainstream media fills up with stories about Muslims worrying about a "backlash." The "backlash" never materializes. In reality, the stream of stories about fears of "backlash" are designed to deflect attention away from the jihad attack and onto Muslims as victims, who as victims ought to be exempt from scrutiny and accountability (even though no U.S. mosque or Islamic school has any program designed to teach against the al-Qaeda version of Islam that they ostensibly reject). In reality, as David J. Rusin noted in National Review last January, "a detailed analysis of FBI statistics covering ten full calendar years since the 9/11 terrorist attacks reveals that, on a per capita basis, American Muslims, contrary to spin, have been subjected to hate crimes less often than other prominent minorities.

Excerpt: The information is pouring in now that the two Boston Marathon terrorists have been identified and the primary question on news and radio has been, “how could these boys have become so radicalized in this country?” Really? Are you kidding me? How are these so-called journalists missing one of the major pieces of the puzzle? They need to do a little research into where these two went to school and who their teachers were.

Texas School Counselor ‘Relieved Of All Duties’ Over Shockingly Racist Post After Fertilizer Explosion: ‘Whites…Soon Will Be Wiped From The Earth

Boston Bomb Suspect Clings to Life
Excerpt: The man whose brief life on the lam paralyzed Boston clung to life today as investigators waited for a chance to ask him why he and his brother attacked the Boston Marathon. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, was in Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center today. … One focus of the probe so far is a six month trip Tamerlan Tsarnaev took to the semi autonomous Russian province of Dagestan in 2012. Dagestan has become a hotbed of militant Islamic activity. (Okay with me if he dies and saves us the cost of the trial and lifetime care. Unlike the media and Obama, I know why he did it. Same reason as Maj. Nidal Hasan—Sudden Jihad Syndrome. ~Bob.)

Energy Cap And Trade is dead in Europe
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/huff-wires/20130416/eu-carbon-trading/?utm_hp_ref=business&ir=business
Excerpt: The European Parliament voted against propping up their failed Cap and Trade system last week. For the left-leaning, conservation minded Europeans to do this is the rough equivalent of the Pope renouncing celibacy. So why did they do it ? Carbon emissions are falling in Europe anyway.

California Gun Confiscation Bill Passes, Approves $24 Million To Expedite Illegal Gun Seizure
Excerpt: The California state legislature passed a bill Thursday approving $24 million to expedite the confiscation of the estimated 40,000 handguns and assault weapons illegally owned by Californians. (They are not “illegal guns.” They are “undocumented self protection devices.” ~Bob.)

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, The Boy Mass-Murderer Who Is Cambridge
Excerpt: "Andrea Kramer, a Cambridge attorney whose sons attended Cambridge Rindge & Latin School with suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, emphasized the diversity of the Cambridge community as its "strength and beauty." She said her children and their friends celebrated the fact that so many in the area had roots in other parts of the world. "[Dzhokhar] wasn't 'them.' He was 'us.' He was Cambridge. This is something that happened here. The kids are trying to make sense of it. They're frustrated at people talking about him as a foreigner, because he was Cambridge," she said while under lockdown in her home. (Andrea Kramer is an idiot. Read down and see why Hugh Fitzgerald is my new hero...George)

Ty Woods' Dad Seeks Benghazi Answers On Capitol Hill
Excerpt: As new whistle-blowers emerge and Congress tells CIA staffers to lawyer up, a grieving father demands to know how and why his son died and why no one in the administration wants to talk to him. As long as we're on the subject of finding the terrorists responsible for killing U.S. citizens on American soil, the father of a former Navy SEAL killed in Benghazi last September was on Capitol Hill Wednesday to urge support of a special committee to investigate the attacks. (They're still going with the tactic of ignore it long enough and it will go away. But thank heavens for the parents of the murdered, demanding that the promises made to them be kept. If only we could get the MSM to actually act like objective news organizations and give the coverage that this mess really deserves. --Del)

Colorado’s first legal ‘420’ rally marred by gunfire
Excerpt: In the minutes after the shooting, three individuals were shot by an unknown assailant. None of the injuries were described as life-threatening. Approximately seven gunshots were heard shortly before 5pm, less than an hour after the rally's keynote address completed. (I guess not everyone was mellowed out. – LLW)

Excerpt: It is a bad idea to demonize your opponents with epithets such “shameful” and “lying,” given that the case was not made that proposed gun-control legislation would have prevented a Sandy Hook. To prevent these school-shooting horrors might require either armed guards in schools, or Draconian new laws about gratuitous screen and video-game violence, or more frequently incarcerating the mentally unstable, or, on the theory of reducing rapid rates of fire, confiscating millions of previously sold semi-automatic handguns and rifles. All those measures would have offended millions across the political spectrum in ways that demonizing the NRA apparently does not.

Mayor Changes Tune On Black Violence Discussion: Rebukes author for citing crime problems after calling for conversation
http://www.wnd.com/2013/04/mayor-changes-tune-on-black-violence-discussion/#uftzBapgGITm3odX.99
If blacks can criticize whites, then whites should be able to say the inner city “needs to get its act together.” That was the bottom line of “Being White in Philly,” a controversial article written by Robert Huber and published in Philadelphia Magazine. What followed was predictable. Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter said the article was a “sin” and an “incitement to extreme reaction.” The mayor called upon the Philadelphia Human Relations Commission to “rebuke” the magazine and Huber. (The writer didn’t understand. The mayor is concerned about black on black violence. Mentioning Black on white violence is racist—the facts too often are. Which is why everyone has heard of Trayvon Martin, almost no one of Chris Cervini. ~Bob.

Sharyl Attkisson Reportedly Leaving CBS News
Excerpt: Sources cite "disputes with network executives". No kidding. Why, I couldn't possibly imagine what these "specific issues" might be. Just for fun, let's take a look at Sharyl's recent highlight reel of investigative journalism. She took the lead on investigating the Fast & Furious scandal while the rest of the media including her own network, were seemingly uninterested. She was even screamed at by a White House spokesman over her coverage of the story.

Excerpt: Arizona, land of the "old America", is under constant assault by the "new America". You see, Arizonans, though three thousand miles away, still hear the peels of liberty from the Liberty Bell, perhaps far better than those who now dwell in Philadelphia. We place greater value on a Constitution written some 230 years ago, perhaps more so than those who live just steps away from Freedom Hall. We don't enact gun laws that serve no purpose except to take guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens. And we're more than willing to use those guns to protect our home and our families.

Excerpt: He posted a YouTube clip from radical Muslim cleric Feiz Mohammad, who once claimed that women who were raped had been asking for it. He also posted a playlist on YouTube that included a song called, “I will dedicate my life to Jihad.’’ On an amazon.com wish list created in 2007, Tsarnaev didn’t even try to hide that he might be up to something nefarious in the future. (Nothing they could do, though, Stopping him before the bombings would have been Islamophobic. ~Bob)

FBI: Ill. man tried to join al-Qaida-linked group
Excerpt: An Illinois teenager who was friends with a man charged last year with trying to bomb a Chicago bar was arrested at an airport on his way to try to join a terrorist group in war-torn Syria, the FBI said Saturday. (Why didn't he just go to the gym and get in his exercise if he wanted to go on jihad? Hamas-linked CAIR's ridiculous #MyJihad campaign originated in Chicago -- how did Abdella Ahmad Tounisi not get the memo that jihad was just blowing bubbles in the park? –Robert Spencer,)

Excerpt: Suspected Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev attended a Massachusetts mosque that made a controversial deal with a Boston city agency that allowed it to buy land at a lower-than-market price in exchange for various token services to the Boston community, despite the mosque’s links to some radical anti-American figures. (If you don’t pay them Jiyra, they will kill us, ~Bob.)

Avra Valley (Arizona) man displays migrant litter on front yard
Excerpt: You won't find flowers or garden gnomes in AJ Duncan's front yard. But you will find a clothing line filled with carpet shoes he says drug smugglers wear to cover their tracks, along with a pile of backpacks and blankets, and more than 400 black water jugs. They are all items Duncan has found over the last year and a half, while hiking through his beloved desert. "There are millions of backpacks and blankets," Duncan says. "I've been out here 48 years and I can't see half my desert anymore."

Obama taking executive action on guns after Senate vote
Excerpt: The Obama administration was starting a process Friday aimed at removing barriers in health privacy laws that prevent some states from reporting information to the background check system. The action comes two days after the Senate rejected a measure that would have required buyers of firearms online and at gun shows to pass a background check. … The Health and Human Services Department on Friday was beginning to ask for public comment on how the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, passed by Congress in 1996 and known as HIPAA, is preventing some states from reporting to the background check system and how to address the problem.

Tale of two terrorists: Columbia job for Boston bomber? By John M. Murtagh
Excerpt: Perhaps Monday’s bomber will be offered a teaching job at Columbia University. Forty-three years ago last month, Kathy Boudin, now a professor at Columbia but then a member of the Weather Underground, escaped an explosion at a bomb factory operated in a townhouse in Greenwich Village.

Worth Reading: Refusing to be Terrorized. By Daniel Greenfield
Excerpt: At some point refusing to be terrorized looks a lot like refusing to pay attention to what terrorism is. After September 11 the government encouraged everyone to get back out there and shop. The message now is take in an interfaith service and then visit your local mosque for a sanitized tour that explains how peaceful Islam really is. There’s a lot of talk about finishing the marathon and MoveOn.orging on our way past the unpleasantness. But there are two standards on being terrorized. When a mentally ill man shoots up a school, then everyone is obligated to be terrorized all the time.

FBI hunting 12-strong terrorist “sleeper cell” linked to brothers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/boston-bombers-fbi-hunting-12-strong-1844844
Excerpt: The FBI was last night hunting a 12-strong terrorist “sleeper cell” linked to the Boston marathon bomb brothers. Police believe Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were specially trained to carry out the devastating attack. More than 1,000 FBI operatives were last night working to track down the cell and arrested a man and two women 60 miles from Boston in the hours before Dzhokhar’s dramatic capture after a bloody shootout on Friday.

I know why the Lame Duck Squawks. By Clarice Feldman
Excerpt: This has not been a good week for President Obama. I think it will not be the worst week of this year or this term, which I predict will get worse as his own personality flaws and patently partisan strategies make his lame-duck term even more impotent than is usually the case.

Excerpt: Maher marvelously responded, “That’s liberal bulls–t right there”
