I'm Tired--some updates

I’ll be 63 soon. Except for one semester in college when jobs were scarce, and a six-month period when I was between jobs, but job-hunting every day, I’ve worked, hard, since I was 18. Despite some health challenges, I still put in 50-hour weeks, and haven’t called in sick in seven or eight years. I make a good salary, but I didn’t inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, there’s no retirement in sight, and I’m tired. Very tired.

I’m tired of being told that I have to “spread the wealth around” to people who don’t have my work ethic. I’m tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy or stupid to earn it.

I’m tired of being told that I have to pay more taxes to “keep people in their homes.” Sure, if they lost their jobs or got sick, I’m willing to help. But if they bought McMansions at three times the price of our paid-off, $250,000 condo, on one-third of my salary, then let the leftwing Congresscritters who passed Fannie and Freddie and the Community Reinvestment Act that created the bubble help them—with their own money.

I’m tired of being told how bad America is by leftwing millionaires like Michael Moore, George Soros and Hollywood entertainers who live in luxury because of the opportunities America offers. In thirty years, if they get their way, the United States will have the religious freedom and women’s rights of Saudi Arabia, the economy of Zimbabwe, the freedom of the press of China, the crime and violence of Mexico, the tolerance for Gay people of Iran, and the freedom of speech of Venezuela. Won’t multiculturalism be beautiful?

I’m tired of being told that Islam is a “Religion of Peace,” when every day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family “honor;” of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren’t “believers;” of Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for “adultery;” of Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qur’an and Shari’a law tells them to.

I believe “a man should be judged by the content of his character, not by the color of his skin.” I’m tired of being told that “race doesn’t matter” in the post-racial world of President Obama, when it’s all that matters in affirmative action jobs, lower college admission and graduation standards for minorities (harming them the most), government contract set-asides, tolerance for the ghetto culture of violence and fatherless children that hurts minorities more than anyone, and in the appointment of US Senators from Illinois. I think it’s very cool that we have a black president and that a black child is doing her homework at the desk where Lincoln wrote the emancipation proclamation. I just wish the black president was Condi Rice, or someone who believes more in freedom and the individual and less in an all-knowing government.

I’m tired of a news media that thinks Bush’s fundraising and inaugural expenses were obscene, but that think Obama’s, at triple the cost, were wonderful. That thinks Bush exercising daily was a waste of presidential time, but Obama exercising is a great example for the public to control weight and stress, that picked over every line of Bush’s military records, but never demanded that Kerry release his, that slammed Palin with two years as governor for being too inexperienced for VP, but touted Obama with three years as senator as potentially the best president ever.

Wonder why people are dropping their subscriptions or switching to Fox News? Get a clue. I didn’t vote for Bush in 2000, but the media and Kerry drove me to his camp in 2004.

I’m tired of being told that out of “tolerance for other cultures” we must let Saudi Arabia use our oil money to fund mosques and madrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in America, while no American group is allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia to teach love and tolerance.

I’m tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which no one is allowed to debate. My wife and I live in a two-bedroom apartment and carpool together five miles to our jobs. We also own a three-bedroom condo where our daughter and granddaughter live. Our carbon footprint is about 5% of Al Gore’s, and if you’re greener than Gore, you’re green enough.

I’m tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses while they tried to fight it off? I don’t think Gay people choose to be Gay, but I damn sure think druggies chose to take drugs. And I’m tired of harassment from cool people treating me like a freak when I tell them I never tried marijuana. Update: People have written to tell me I'd have more sympathy if this was close to me. It is exactly having seen the destruction of alcoholism and heroin addiction in my own family that makes me pretty intolerant of people who are willing to destroy the people around them to indulge themselves.
I’m tired of illegal aliens being called “undocumented workers,” especially the ones who aren’t working, but are living on welfare or crime. What’s next? Calling drug dealers, “Undocumented Pharmacists”? And, no, I’m not against Hispanics. Most of them are Catholic and it’s been a few hundred years since Catholics wanted to kill me for my religion. I’m willing to fast track for citizenship any Hispanic person who can speak English, doesn’t have a criminal record and who is self-supporting without family on welfare, or who serves honorably for three years in our military. Those are the citizens we need. Update: A few people have taken this to indicate some bias against Catholics, based on events 400 years ago. While I think they are either too touchy or fail to understand, I was only trying to say that I have zero problem with Catholics wanting to come to the US, but that I have great concerns about Muslims, as a good % of them do want to kill me, or force their religion and moral code on me.

I’m tired of latte liberals and journalists, who would never wear the uniform of the Republic themselves, or let their entitlement-handicapped kids near a recruiting station, trashing our military. They and their kids can sit at home, never having to make split-second decisions under life and death circumstances, and bad mouth better people than themselves. Do bad things happen in war? You bet. Do our troops sometimes misbehave? Sure. Does this compare with the atrocities that were the policy of our enemies for the last fifty years—and still are? Not even close. So here’s the deal. I’ll let myself be subjected to all the humiliation and abuse that was heaped on terrorists at Abu Ghraib or Gitmo, and the critics can let themselves be subject to captivity by the Muslims who tortured and beheaded Daniel Pearl in Pakistan, or the Muslims who tortured and murdered Marine Lt. Col. William Higgins in Lebanon, or the Muslims who ran the blood-spattered Al Qaeda torture rooms our troops found in Iraq, or the Muslims who cut off the heads of schoolgirls in Indonesia, because the girls were Christian. Then we’ll compare notes. British and American soldiers are the only troops in history that civilians came to for help and handouts, instead of hiding from in fear. UPDATE: It has rightly been pointed out to me, several times, that I should have included Canadian, Australian and New Zealand troops here. My apologies for slighting these gallant allies of freedom.

I’m tired of people telling me that their party has a corner on virtue and the other party has a corner on corruption. Read the papers—bums are bi-partisan. And I’m tired of people telling me we need bi-partisanship. I live in Illinois, where the “Illinois Combine” of Democrats and Republicans has worked together harmoniously to loot the public for years. And I notice that the tax cheats in Obama’s cabinet are bi-partisan as well.

I’m tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of both parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid mistakes or youthful mistakes, when we all know they think their only mistake was getting caught. I’m tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor.

Speaking of poor, I’m tired of hearing people with air-conditioned homes, color TVs and two cars called poor. The majority of Americans didn’t have that in 1970, but we didn’t know we were “poor.” The poverty pimps have to keep changing the definition of poor to keep the dollars flowing.

I’m real tired of people who don’t take responsibility for their lives and actions. I’m tired of hearing them blame the government, or discrimination, or big-whatever for their problems.

Yes, I’m damn tired. But I’m also glad to be 63. Because, mostly, I’m not going to get to see the world these people are making. I’m just sorry for my granddaughter.

Robert A. Hall is a Marine Vietnam veteran who served five terms in the Massachusetts state senate. He blogs at www.tartanmarine.blogspot.com Update: Someone attached a picture of Robert D. Hall, an actor, to some versions and forwarded it on, saying that I was on CSI. We are two different people, and I am not an actor--unless you count running for public office.

And to the folks who said I'm Old and should die and get out of the way, I have IPF, so will comply soon enough.

  1. Right on!!!! My sentiments exactly. At 72, with a couple of Vietnam tours behind me, I truly love this country - but not its ultra-liberal psuedo-intellectuals who are hell bent on the road to turning our great country into another third world cesspool. Not much of a legacy to be imagining for our grandkids! Keep up the good work.

  2. God Bless you Mr. Hall. I am also tired and 64. You and I have a similar profile and I only wish I didn't half to live the rest of my life watching the distruction of the USA we both fought so hard to protect. Is it our age, our up bringing, or dedication or what, that makes us so differnt from the so called majority of America? What is it I don't understand? I'm Tired, but dammit, I'm still going to fight! mdl

  7. This is how I believe most of Main Street USA feels--I know I do! Too bad we have been conditioned to sit with our hands in our laps and not say anything too impolite for fear of upsetting someone. If we don't hold Truth in high esteem, now matter how inconvenient, we will need to learn to live with the consequences, no matter how damning!

  11. AMEN Robert Hall!!! My vote for you next president!!!! I'm tired of all of what you wrote!! I think there are thousands of other HARD WORKING TAX PAYERS who believe all that you expressed! I don't see any changes in the near future when the morality of this country continues on a downward spiral... I'm a little younger than you, so unless the good Lord takes me sooner, I'll be here to witness this destruction of the USA as we know it.

  12. YOU HAVE TRULY SAID IT ALL!! What's saddening and maddening is that America just doesn't seem to get it. I am much younger than you Mr. Hall and fear of what myself and my children will endure if this doesn't change soon. Thank you for your service to our country and thank you for this amazing letter. I will pray it circulates to enough for us all to open our eyes and see what's to come if we don't wake up soon.

  13. God Bless you Mr. Hall,

My 68 year old, multi-Vietnam tour retired Air Force Major, civilian airline pilot, never bitched about a thing greatest father in the world Dad sent me your thoughts. As an Air Force Vet myself I first cannot thank you enough for your service in the Corp which I know I would have struggled to survive in. Other than that, at 40, with one 18 month old girl and another one due in May, I share your thoughts as well as your concerns for my kids long-term security. While I have a few years to catch up to you, I would add that I'm tired of being a successful white business man who is labeled a racist because I don't believe in our Presidents agenda. I'm tired of trying to have the talk that our Attorney General wants us cowards to have but we can't because we're racists if we don't blame ourselves for the stupidity of others. But most of all, I'm tired of being called a radical, right-wing religious zealot for speaking my mind in the face of, more than opposition to my views, but hatred for the very fact that I have opposing views to those in the far left. Thank you Sir for your thoughts, for it is only through people like yourself, speaking what so many of us are feeling, that will bring this country back from the brink.

(Reply) Beyond the science of mathematics, "right" and "wrong" are merely subjective terms. You will need to observe your own commentary in view of the dozens of supportive comments herein to adequately judge your rather simple perspective. Your suggestion, while noble, fails miserably under the circumstances. If you also fail to understand this you would be excused for being the victim's example of the old Vietnam era wood carving of the guy with his head where the sun does not shine, entitled: "Your problem is obvious!" My sainted grandmother said it best, Sharon: "It's better to be silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove any doubt!" You will criticize me for my assessment of your simple-minded critique, but you will still fail. I would suggest counseling . . . . Signed: USAF Vietnam Veteran (1969-1975).

  15. Amen to that. I am only 30 and a U.S. Coast Guard veteran, but i completely agree. I work hard for everthing I have and shouldn't have to share it with someone who didn't earn it. Government as a whole is corrupt, along with 'Big oil' and the insurance industry. If we as a whole society don't wake up and fix it, I will be sorry to see what happens.....Keep the faith, DLS

  16. Mr. Hall, I am a Vietnam veteran and I don't talk about it. That's what "duty" is. While I am very much tired of the collapse of the USA, I don't particularly think that military vets and retirees have a calling to sit around and bitch about it. Most of you didn't start griping until the political majority wind changed after 8 years. My advice to all of you: stop voting for thieves and liars. Get them ALL out, every one, and chase down the biggest thieves and hang them from the nearest tree. Stop talking and start doing. I'm 60, and age slows me down, but doesn't stop me. Stop "don'ting" and start doing.

  17. Someone sent us your post (titled "I'm Tired") as well as the link to your site. There are so many (mostly silent) people in the country that share your feelings. We're tired, too...and in October of 2007 we launched our site, Two Sisters from the Right (http://www.2sistersfromtheright.com) with the intention of creating a forum for people who love America to share their concerns about the direction our leaders are taking us. ALL of us need to speak out and to share our thoughts. We have published many original articles and would like to ask your permission to post yours....fully credited and with a link back to your site, of course. Please let me know if it's OK for us to post "I'm Tired".....and THANK YOU for your presence on the blogosphere. There can't be enough soldiers in this battle to "bring our country back from the brink."

A friend sent me your "I'M Tired" article. If you consider yourself a real Jarhead, just suck it up and deal with life. And ask your self what can you do for your country, and not what your country needs to do for you. Think you have to much time on your hands writing stories and blogs. My only question is why did you wait until you were 63 to fight the thought of a governing class that has destroyed this country, when it has been going on since you were 23 years old. I wish you were so pissed when you wern't so tired.

  26. I just read your blog "Tired" by way of a forwarded email. While i don't agree completely with every detail, i do agree with most. Luckily, here in America each of us has the right to speak our mind and have our own opinions. I am a twenty one year old female college student. I noticed that I am probably one of the youngest to comment on your blog, but i feel that it is important that i do. More often than not my generation is labeled as lazy, inconsiderate, and selfish. While i can't speak for all I would like to let you know that some of us are trying to make things better. Right now everyone is worried about the future, especially in the hands that it is in. Both of my parents are entrepreneurs. I grew up in a modest middle class home. My parents taught me to work hard to get what i want, never to feel a sense of entitlement, or to take the luxuries that i have for granted. To be honest i am scared, very scared about the situation the country is in. In the next year or two my boyfriend and i are going to be graduating college with possible prospects of nothing. We live in Michigan, and i am afraid that to make it we are going to have to leave. With the "housing crisis" i am not sure that we can even get a loan to buy a house. Especially because our combined debt from college will likely be well over 25,000. I am proud to be a college student. Both my boyfriend and i work our butts off to make the deans list every semester while still working two jobs. Each of us will be the first in our family to get a four year degree, but neither of us ever questioned that college is the only option to better our future. What does frustrate me is the people that you talked about that i have to pay for because they are to lazy or stupid. Both my boyfriend and I are paying our own way through school, neither of our parents are financially sound enough to contribute. It infuriates me that the kid sitting next to me that walked in twenty minutes late, only to text on his cell phone the entire lecture, and fight with the teacher why his homework should be accepted late is there on a scholarship because of the color of his skin and not his merit. I believe in helping the less fortunate, but i don't believe in helping those that aren't willing to work for what they deserve.
I am proud to be an American, I am proud that i live in the land of opportunity, and feel that i should never take for granted the life that i have been given, because if i were living anywhere else i might be killed for my beliefs or simply because i am a woman.

We are all "tired" and we will awaken to this BS that has been bestowed upon us and the world will know that true justice is alive and well in America.
One of my favorite black brothers quoted the book of Isiah in this fashion: The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.
We will just let the Lord sort it out......

  42. Well done GYRENE!!

Now all that's needed is to lock n load and take back the land. The clowns have it and we need to recover the objective, for the sake of the republic, and all it's patriotic supporters.

One would almost think that these tyrants are attempting to create an insurection, which is not as far fetched as some might think. There are agendas and there are schemes, and what is presently occurring reeks of both.

Our 'illustrious' leader has gone from peddling 'hope', to injecting the masses with the 'dope' of fear. Fear is an infectious motivator, and spreads like wildfire most effectively where the blind trust of ignorance accepts without question that which is being dispensed. A few have succumbed to physical poisoning at the hands of those they trusted.

Having said that, your truths need to be dispensed on a broader venue, so that those of us whom haven't drank the Kool-Aid, can stay informed and encouraged.

About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh , had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier:

'A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.'

'A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.'

'>From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.'

'The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years'

'During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence:

    1. from bondage to spiritual faith;

    2. from spiritual faith to great courage;

    3. from courage to liberty;

    4. from liberty to abundance;

    5. from abundance to complacency;

    6. from complacency to apathy;

    7. from apathy to dependence;

    8. from dependence back into bondage'

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul , Minnesota , points out some interesting facts concerning the 2000 Presidential election:

Number of States won by: Democrats: 19 Republicans: 29

Square miles of land won by: Democrats: 580,000 Republicans: 2,427,000

Population of counties won by: Democrats: 127 million Republicans: 143 million

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Democrats: 13.2 Republicans: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: 'In aggregate, the map of the territory Republican won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country. Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare...' Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the 'complacency and apathy' phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the 'governmental dependency' phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegal's and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

If you are in favor of this, then by all means, delete this message. If you are not, then pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom.

WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE,
    ONLY BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE

    Sorry if this is long.

  49. TIRED! FED UP! DISGRUNTLED! DISGUSTED! My husband & I are both veterans & have worked throughout our lives to raise 5 children, make a home for our family and be decent citizens. We have gone without new appliances, upgrades to our home, vacations & fancy dinners & fancy cars because we couldn't afford them. We bought only what we had the $$$ to buy. We paid our bills on time, we gave charitably to those in need, we provided for our children & taught our children to be responsible for themselves.
Why have we not demanded this from our government? Why has our government not demanded this from it's citizens? Tired? You bet I am! Angry? You better believe it!!
When I was young I was apolitical, ignorant in fact, about how this country was run. Over the years, now 54 of them, I have become more politically aware, more aware of the issues, more outraged at the facts & the spin that media puts on reality. Citizens of this country cannot afford to stay ignorant any longer. We cannot afford to be passive either. If the government & media have their way, our voices will be silenced completely, in the printed word & over the airwaves. We are a a huge voice that needs to be heard.
Thank you so much Mr. Hall, for putting our voices out there.
The question is, sir, what now?

  51. I love this post. I received this post in an email from my mother with a link to your blog and I immediately started reading it. I am only 22, but I am in the Navy and I agree with absolutely everything written here.

It depresses me because I feel as though my generation is very apathetic and very gullible. I've heard quite a few people (mostly people in their 40s or 50s) say that their generation and their parents' generation were the last ones to truly care and get involved with the issues that affect all of us. And from what I've seen so far, I can't say that I disagree. Hopefully, we can change that.

I'm glad that I found out about your blog and will be posting a link in mine to yours so others, I know, will be able to check it out too.

  54. Well said ... unfortunately the folks that need to read these words will not take the time to do so.

As you pointed out, we are slowly killing our country, the values it was founded on, the work ethic that allowed it to become the greatest nation on earth and our way of life. And when it is done, we will never be able to get it back.

  55. Great post! Those of us who have given time to our country can appreciate your outlook. It hurts to look back on the years served in our Armed Forces and realize just how quickly our outlook on life and even our actual way of life, can be changed so drastically by today's "leaders." However, along with the many people who also can relate to your ideals and values, we are still an integral part of America and should let our voices be heard!

If you look at the AIG bailout you will find that they insure the trust fund for our congressmen. They looked out for themselves first by bailing out AIG.
Now they want the taxpayer to pay for all this pork they are passing in the stimulus package that will not have any positive effect on the average working class.
It is time for the silent majority to wake up

    ReplyDelete
  58. I'm tired too buddy!
    I just turned 60....
I missed ONE day in school from 3rd grade til graduation.
I got a one year scholarship and a low draft # when I graduated High School.
I decided to put 4 years in the Navy rather than hide out in college or in a cushy Reserve job, like Bush did, with the help of his Daddy.
I worked 34 years,12 hours a day, outside in all types of weather at a UNION job,and had nothing given to me either.
And I am tired..VERY tired too.
I'm tired of Republicans yelling "redistribute the wealth" when they mean "let us keep our outrageous Corporate and dividend tax breaks".
I'm tired of Republicans blaming only Fannie and Freddie and Barney and Pelosi, when 75% of the blame goes to Georgie and Citi and Merrell and SEC.
I'm tired of Democrats spending Stimulus money on people who aren't willing to work, instead of the Middle Class, who continues to pay the taxes that the top bracket keeps trying to avoid.
I'm tired of giving interest paid on homes as tax breaks, but making renters make up the tax difference.
I'm tired of lowlifes and real estate speculators getting any stimulus help.
I'm tired of the government propping up housing prices when the only way new and future buyers can ever get a house is for the insane prices they reached 2 years ago to drop 25% more.
I'm tired of Republicans that claim to be social Conservatives, but cheer Rush Bimbo when he rants against The War on Poverty.
I'm tired of every pious Republican who thinks he has a monopoly on working hard and bettering themselves.
I'm tired of the Republicans that knock the Streisand,Moore,Penn rich left, but never mention the Cheney,Madoff, Enron corrupt rich right represented by Phil Graham and his "America is just a country of whiners".
I'm tired of Republicans who say they need to cater to the Sam's Club crowd, when Walmart represents every company that's destroyed our economy by monopolizing business with cheap Chinese goods.
I'm tired of the Republican tax cut system that says "let them eat Campbell's soup and the $ menu at McDonalds"
In 30 years,if Republicans get their way,we will have no religious freedom..just Evangelical principles. We will have no women's rights to abortions or any government program for birth control and STD control except abstinence.
We already were heading toward an economy like Zimbabwe when we refused to add the $700 billion wasted on "the wrong war in the wrong place" war in Iraq to the Bush budgets.
We already have the crime and violence of Mexico in our country in case you haven't noticed.
I'm tired of the NRA crowd chanting right to bear arms, but allow the export of assault weapons and more to the drug cartels in Mexico without a peep.
As for the freedom of speech...no Republican is allowed to speak aginst Rush Bimbo now, without having to crawl to his radio show and bow down in fear.I dread to see what it would look like with 30 years of Republican drool.
I'm tired of the Islamists claims of being the religion of peace. But I'm even more tired of spending billions to support the sham government in iraq while they hide in the Green Zone.I'm tired of Republicans wanting to keep wasting lives and dollars on Iraqis who will resume fighting when we leave and who still support Hammas in their war against Israel.
As for tolerance of gays,no Republican would ever be nominated if he spent $1 or supported one bill supporting any gay agenda.
As for the "Won't muticulturalism be beautiful?' question, I have one for you..
"is that your way of saying Whites only?"..multiculturalism is here now buddy..white man America is long gone..whites will be THE minority in 20 years and putting a token black as head of the RNC and trotting out your slumdog for millionares to counter Obama's speech won't fool the present minorities..
I believe every man should be judged by character and not color too..that means not claiming Obama's religion is Muslum or insinuating he has no birth certificate ala the Redneck SOB Shelbey and the CPAC speakers..I too think Rice is the smartest Republican, and have seen no white Republicans that come close..Her only sign of stupidity was staying with Bush the entire 8 years.I would have preferred Bush exercise good judgement the past 8 years instead of his body.
I would support Kerry's military record of actually fighting in Viet Nam over Bush's hiding out in Alabama bars with his Daddy's help..I will choose Obama's potential and intellect over Palin's inability to name ONE newspaper or periodical that she reads..
As for dropping magazine and newspaper subscriptions, people have to choose eating over reading because of Bush's economic policies. As for Saudi Arabia, we tolerate their culture to protect our oil and defense interests, nothing else..where was the Republicans' concern for this the past 40 years when they continually refused to pass higher MPG ratings for our cars?
I'm tired of Republicans claiming there is no global warming or pollution-causing problems, and trotting out corporate paid shills to spout that nonsense.
I'm tired of big biz and Republicans sending all our $ and jobs to Mexico,China and India because they ignore pollution controls and pay slave wages and use child labor.
I'm tired of Democrats naively spending billions to make us lower pollution without threatening to change trade pacts with countries that don't.
I'm just as tired of spending billions on the War on Drugs as I am the War on Poverty..did we learn nothing from Prohibition? What has it done except enrich the Mexican drug cartels? What is the point of arresting pot smokers and ruining lives and spending billions to do it? Why is alcohol allowed to be the drug of choice with the carnage on highways and alcoholism running rampant through high schools and colleges? The cost and damage of fighting the pot users far outweighs the damage done by smoking it..Decriminalize it ,make it a misdemeanor and fight the Coke and meth crowd instead,,that's the real danger to this country..How many people fight and kill people driving under pot instead of alcohol? Ron Paul is at least right on that one issue..if you cry "keep the government out of our lives",then why aren't you fighting for this?.
I'm tired of illegal aliens too..but where's your rant against corporations turning their back, when hiring them at farms, construction sites and meat packing plants to pad profits and at the expense of American workers?
I'm tired of the excuse"They're just doing the jobs that American workers won't do".Where is your free market excuse, when the market demands you pay legitimate workers a decent wage if you can't find cheap illegal workers?
I'm tired of Republicans allowing Mexican truckers to come in this country with dangerous trucks and non English speaking drivers to undercut the cost of paying American truckers.
I'm tired of champagne Conservatives and oxycontin radio "journalists" who have never worn the uniform of this Republic..Reagan, Cheney,Rumsfeld,John Wayne..but wrap themselves in the flag and push war at every chance and place that they decide is a threat, but rag only on Kerry's military record..
I'm tired of Republicans acting like they are the only ones concerned about our troops..65% of the troops that donated to campaigns contributed to the Democrats last election,so don't claim a monopoly on that subject..
where was the compassion of Bush and the Republicans last year when he was against raising GI benefits because it would cause a shortage of new recruits..what a dispicable move by a 2-faced group of "concerned patriots"
I too, am tired of Obama and the Dems closing Gitmo and banning waterboarding, but the Patriot Act should be regulated for abuse when it comes to wiretaps..never forget the Hoover FBI abuse that went on for many years..
I'm tired of bipartisanship too..try it once, and if it won't work, take the gloves off and slug it out..but once the fight is decided, shut up,take it like a man and save the fight for the next election..the Republicans need to call a waahmbulance and go lick their wounds til 2010..
I'm tired of the sense of entitlement too..tired of the middle class paying the benefits of the waahbaby deadbeats and listening to the upper class waah about robbing their wealth when the've had it way too good since Reagan..
I'm tired of the poverty pimps, redneck pimps, goober farmer pimps and Mexican baby factory pimps that are bleeding our taxpayers dry.
I'm tired of DHS not being allowed to report illegal aliens when they apply for benefits..
I'm tired of wealthy bankers and Republican politicians making stupid mistakes and refusing any blame for making them..
Speaking of poor,I'm tired of Republican politicians with multiple homes, colored hired help, and too many cars crying poor when they get any tax increase..The majority of Americans didn't have that stuff in 1970,1870,and won't in 2070, but we knew we were "poor".The "wealthy wimps" have to keep changing the definition of wealthy to keep their obscene tax breaks flowing.
I'm real tired of Republicans who only take responsibility for their own lives and deny any irresponsibility for their actions.
I'm tired of them blaming the government,or class discrimination,or big whatever their problems.
I'm tired of Rush Bimbo speaking at CPAC,giving speeches that are channeled from the spirit of Adolph Hitler, hoping America totally collapses in the next 4 years to regain Conservative destruction of this country.
I'm tired of seeing his Hermann Goerring like body spit venom while his oxycontin destroyed cochlear implant soaks up the Nazi-like chants of "U.S.A." from his brainless followers.
I'm really tired of the Republicans trotting out token blacks and Indians as a symbol of opening up the Party, while the real phony Wizard of Oz hides behind the curtain, hiding its mostly racist redneck and farmbelt and biblebelt white face.
Yes, I'm damned tired too buddy. But I'm also glad to be 60.Because,mostly, I'm not going to see the world the Republicans are trying to make.I'm just sorry for my daughter.

I am a Navy Viet Nam era veteran from Oklahoma. I don't post ignorant blogs..I just respond to them.

Thanks for telling it like it is.........I say ho RAh.....where were all these people who are now complaining during the election?

I am worried big time about what I see happening. WE have no control .........THEY have control. Who is THEY......you just defined it.

Too bad there are not more like you who are still active in the government. WE have lost control.

I will be the first to congratulate "them" if it works. However I am sick and tired of all the "spinning & political rhetoric".

Why are those who did not overspend, or spend money on VISA and other credit cards, being forced to support those who went helter skelter in there lifestyles and over spent. Now we are being asked to help.

Those SOBs who cheated, swindled and raped the economy should be in jail...........no excuses. We are talking MILLIONS of dollars and they are still out there in there million dollar homes and fancy cars.........throw their butts in Jail....or turn them over to the people they screwed out of fortunes of $$$$$$$$$.

It is sad day for the USA.

Unfortunately, that was in 1917, and I'm guessing that by 2017, the good old U.S.A. will be a mirror image of the Communist USSR... How sad!!

I recently had the honor of teaming up with two extraordinary African-American students on a research project for a Cultural Anthropology class. The subject of the research and the sources, chose by my partners, were an inspiration to me and I wish to share it with you. The whole point of this paper is to demonstrate that there are some good changes qccurring below the radar of which we could never guess if we only listened to the majoe media outlets. I know it is rather lengthy but it is definitly a paper worth reading. I hope you enjoy!

    A New Struggle
    February 30, 2009

    A New Struggle
On August 28, 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King Junior made a speech that became known as the “ Dream Speech”. This speech symbolized the struggle for civil rights in this country and became one of the most famous speeches of all time. The civil rights struggle represented the central theme to most African-American lives in this country. Through the years since the sixties the struggle for multi-cultural equality continued for African-Americans involving people's entire lives to the point that African-Americans came to define themselves by this struggle. The result has become a strong sense of victimization fed by the continuing attitude of the current leadership within the African-American community. Considering the dreams of Dr. Martin Luther King, the leadership of people like Mary Frances Berry, and the ideas of John McWhorter, it may be time for the African-American community to accept the success of the past so that they can face a new struggle against the 'Cult of Victimhood' of which they will need to overcome if they wish to achieve true multi-cultural equality.
    The basis for success
It is a blessing that we, in America, live not in a Democracy, as some would have us believe, but in a Democratic Republic. The difference is astonishing when put up against all that has been accomplished within the Civil Rights movement. Because we live in a Democratic Republic, that is a country run by the rule of laws created by those elected by popular vote, the minority truly has a voice. If, on the other hand, we were living in a Democracy our minorities would not have any say in how our country is run as we would live by the whims of the majority. That being said, the Civil Rights movement would not have been able to take place as the majority of the country was against the movement. It took federal enforcement of our Constitution in order for all that was accomplished within the Civil Rights movement to occur. It actually began with our founding fathers who had the wisdom and foresight to create a constitution that allows for the a minority to have a voice which turned out to be the deciding factor for change in our America. This is the very reason why voices for change can be heard in our country.
Dr. King's speech, known as the 'Dream' speech, encapsulated the wishes of an entire culture's struggle for racial equality in such a succinct fashion that he touched the hearts of a nation, creating a multi-cultural awareness of the Civil Rights struggle on a level never before achieved. Dr King utilized many sources for his speech that were easily recognized by Americans in general. From the Declaration of independence he states, “We hold these truths to be self evident: that all men are created equal.” opening his speech with a reminder of what our country actually stands for. He goes on to quote George C Wallace, then Governor of Alabama, as well as the lyrics to the song “Our Country Tis Thee.” (www.proquest.umi.com ) . This speech represented the peak of the Civil Rights movement and encapsulated the dreams of an entire culture's hope for a brighter future. Recognizing the achievements of the Civil Rights movement is an essential part of identifying the areas that still need redress. Could it be that continually holding onto this past has become detrimental to the very people that it was designed to help?
Public recognition of the problem and the formation of nationally recognized commissions are essential components in the fight for multi-cultural equality. It is because of the efforts of people such as activist Mary Frances Berry, former commissioner of the United States Commission on Civil Rights, that this country has come so far in the arena of multi-cultural equality. The United States Commission on Civil Rights was formed by former President Dwight D. Eisenhower after he, along with the rest of the country, witnessed the shocking news coverage of Arkansas National Guard troops preventing black children from entering the Central High School in Little Rock back in Nineteen Fifty Seven. Since it's inception the Commission has provided a public forum for investigating civil rights and produced numerous reports that led directly to landmark legislation, starting with the Nineteen Sixty Civil Rights Act (www.proquest.umi.com ). Mrs. Berry is one of those leaders that happens to accept the accomplishments of the past but now wishes to move forward from there rather than to continue living in the past.
    A potential problem
Reliving the past seems to be one of the main ways that the current African-American leadership holds onto their authority to the possible detriment of the very community they claim to support. On the fortieth anniversary of Dr. King's famous August speech Civil Rights notables such as Al Sharpton, Evelyn Lowery and her husband Rev. Joseph Lowery, among many others, retraced some of the steps, that eventually led to that famous 'Dream' speech in Washington, through Atlanta's historic Sweet Auburn district and ended at MLK National Historic Site (www.proquest.umi.com ) . By the tenor of the speeches one could almost believe that we were still in 1963, at the height of the Civil Rights struggle, not in the Twenty First Century about to celebrate the election of our first African-American President. Recognizing the achievements of the past is something that is necessary for everyone to continue on in a proper direction without repeating the mistakes of the past. Behaving as if the struggle still exists without honoring the strides forward made in the struggle can be self defeating at best and internally destructive worst.
    A voice of reason
There are leaders within the African-American culture that seem well suited to be the
voice of progress and change such as Mrs. Berry. When asked the question, “How will Obama's presidency affect civil rights and the commission?”, Mrs. Berry responded, “ Well, we can either go the last mile in changing the way we look at questions of equality and justice, or we can let things stagnate on the grounds of, look at us, we just elected Obama, we don't have to do anything else.” (www.proquest.umi.com ) . Mrs. Berry went on to explain that she would like to see a new commission on human rights formed that would look at issues of race, poverty, and gender as 'connected' and not be told that they are issues of class, as has been the case to this point. This thinking is innovative in the arena of civil rights even though to the layman it is simple common sense. Mrs. Berry believes that when you are struggling for justice or freedom, it may seem like you cannot win, but if you keep pushing forward, in the end you can succeed. She also believes that change is a very complicated process, but in America it is always possible. “You go three steps forward, one step back-but you never go all the way back.” states Mrs. Berry (www.proquest.umi.com ) . Mrs. Berry exemplifies the attitude of embracing change and accepting new ideas for the sake of continued forward ideological movement. Mrs. Berry's personal experiences act as the catalyst for her views in the same fashion as the personal experiences of John McWhorter have motivated him do extensive research in order to point out a potential problem that exists within the African-American community.
Can John McWhorter provide some answers?
One of the leaders in the new fight to recognize the reasons why so many African-Americans continue to define themselves by race is Berkeley linguistics professor John McWhorter. In his New York Times bestseller, Losing the Race, John McWhorter examines what he calls the cult of Victimology, Separatism, and Anti-Intellectualism he has witnessed on America's college campuses ( www.manhattan-institute.org) . According to professor

McWhorter, nearly forty years after the Civil Rights Act, African-Americans in this country still remain “a race apart.” He feels that modern black Americans have internalized a tacit message: “authentically black” people stress initiative in private but cloak the race in victimization in public in order to protect black people from an ever-looming white backlash (www.manhattan-institute.org) . Professor McWhorter has stepped to the forefront of an issue that, with the proper recognition, could lead this country even farther in the pursuit of multi-cultural equality for the African-American culture.
Professor McWhoter asks the questions, “Is school a white thing? If not, then why do African-American students from comfortable middle-class backgrounds perform so badly in the classroom?” he goes on to ask the questions, “What is it that prevents so many black college students in the humanities and social sciences from studying anything other than black subjects?” and “ Why do young black people, born decades after the heyday of the Civil Rights movement, see victimization as the defining element of their existence?” (www.manhattan-institute.org) . These are controversial questions for an African-American to ask, but professor McWhorter recognizes that there must be someone to step forward, within the African-American culture, or
these questions will never be given proper consideration from a leadership that cries victim every
time something does not go the way that they expect. This pervasive attitude among the current African-American leadership is not only demeaning but also insulting to those African-Americans that have put their best foot forward and have actually accomplished something for themselves through the use of their own intellect and personal merit.
The Civil Rights movement was the pinnacle of American history, freeing African-Americans from centuries of disenfranchisement and yet McWhorter points out that it has had a tragic side effect. As racism recedes as a serious obstacle to black advancement, most black

American leaders and thinkers have been misled into a self-destructive ideological detour. Victimization is exaggerated and enshrined more than constructively addressed and young black
people are shepherded into a separatist conception of “blackness” defined largely as that which is not “white” (www.manhattan-institute.org) . Professor McWhoter believes that this causes black America to assign academic achievement as belonging to white people and that black academic
achievement is only motivated by either money or to chronicle examples of black victimization and victories. This is a troubling attitude in that it belittles the accomplishments of so many outstanding African-Americans. This attitude can also create a mindset, within an entire culture, that there are limits to what one can achieve when, in fact, if people would just look around at all of the standouts within their communities and what they have achieved they could begin to believe that there are, in fact, no limits after all.
McWhoter, drawing upon history, statistics, and his own life experiences, shows that affirmative action in university admissions, indispensable thirty years ago, is today an obsolete policy that encourages the counterproductive ideologies of what he calls Separatism, Victimology, and Anti-Intellectualism. He believes that this attitude prevents black students
from demonstrating the abilities our Civil Rights leaders gave them the opportunity to nurture, and it deprives them of the incentive to strive for the very top (www.manhattan-institute.org) . It could be that it is time to retire the current black leadership and reach out to the success stories, within the African-American community, to come forward and take the reigns of the multi-cultural equality movement in order to redefine its goals and mission. The current leadership is tying the hands of the promising hope for the future of Black America by instilling the wrong attitudes within the black youth of today. With new attitudes at the helm, so many areas that need to be addressed in today's society, but are being ignored in favor of reliving the past, can be

brought to the forefront of public awareness where progress can surely be made.
    A new direction
There are some changes that are being made. There is a growing willingness among
blacks to seek and speak truth in public. Bill Cosby has been giving speeches across the country
to receptive black audiences, condemning black illegitimacy, educational apathy, and the idea that white racism causes black social problems. Black conservative writers, commentators,
scholars, judges, radio talk-show hosts, politicians, and even comedians have made great progress in bringing their ideas to public forums (www.proquest.umi.com) . There are so many reasons for the African-American culture to be proud. There are so many truly outstanding people within the black community that are achieving greatness through embracing a can-do attitude and casting aside the 'cult of victimhood'. The statistics show that only seven percent of African-Americans believe that racism is the most important problem for the next generation to solve. Eighty nine percent of black teens consider racism in their own lives to be a small problem or not a problem at all. Twice as many black teens as white believe that failure to take advantage of available opportunities is a bigger problem for blacks than discrimination (www.proquest.umi.com ) . It is as if there is a silent majority within the black community that
accepts that progress has been accomplished but are afraid to say so out of fear of being ostracized. Racism and discrimination are attitudes that are taught. It seems that the up coming generation is being taught a new message. Maybe it is time that the last generation accepts the lessons of the new and lets go of the past.
The change that is beginning to occur within the African-American community is becoming more and more apparent. In two thousand and two, about one in four new, mostly young black voters registered as independents; only sixty three percent of black voters are now

registered as Democrats which is down from seventy four percent in two thousand. And while
almost all blacks favor affirmative action in the form of 'out reach' to minorities, fully seventy
eight percent are opposed to the hiring of less-qualified minority applicants on the basis of race
or ethnicity (www.proquest.umi.com ) . People are coming to recognize that a culture cannot expect to be treated as equals when they encourage special treatment and consideration. Although cultural preference may have been necessary in the past, the time has come for the African-American culture to stand up and be judged not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. There is an emerging generation of young Blacks that are in the process of changing the future of Blacks in America and around the world. This generation sees themselves as forces capable of shaping the future rather than being shaped by the forces of the future (www.proquest.umi.com ) .
The next generation takes the reigns
There are some very specific reasons for the next generation to be viewed with hope. There is a dramatic growth in the economic clout of American Blacks; continued increases in Black educational achievement; extraordinary escalation in the diversity of America, including within the Black community itself; and a decline in the significance of race and continued improvements in race relations in America (www.proquest.umi.com ) . The fact is that our youth of today are more aware than ever before that it is vital to recognize a person for who they are and what they can accomplish rather than by what they are and where they are from. Negativism
in any context cannot ever achieve what positive thinking and attitudes will eventually accomplish. Telling someone that they are entitled because they are a victim of something that is no longer true will only hobble their future and hurt their prospects. We are on the cusp of the age of which Dr. King dreamed of and spoke of in his speech, “ that day when all of God's

children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to
join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, “Free at last! Free at last! Thank God
Almighty, we are free at last!”, and everyone, especially within the African-American
community, must recognize this fact in order for this country to continue to move forward in a
    positive and accepting manner.
    Conclusion
With the dawning awareness that the ideology of 'Victimhood' exists came the realization by some within the African-American community that the negative effect that this attitude was having on current and future generations must be addressed and can be viewed as the new struggle as so many of the current leadership in the black community espouse this belief. Deliberately separating one's own culture from the whole while clamoring for cultural recognition and equality, the cult of separatism, is self defeating and corrupt. Withholding recognition of academic achievement or mis-assigning motivations for outstanding educational performance is a poor and contradictory message to send to those to whom you wish to see achieve greatness. There was a time in our country where there existed justification for the feelings of victimization. Refusing to recognize the advancements that the country has made in the area of civil rights is stagnation at its best. If multi-cultural equality and awareness are truly our goals, would it not be better to accept what we have accomplished in order to better define what there is left that needs to be addressed?

  77. Why can't someone like you run for office?? Probably because you wouldn't be willing to kiss ass and be "politically correct"! I may be only 38, but the work ethics in this country have taken a dive! Very few are truly willing to work for the simple knowledge and pride of a job well done. Everyone wants to sit and whine rather than get off their ass and work for anything any more. It seems everyone has a hand out and is looking for the easy way. But then who can blame them if all you have to do is cross the border illegally, have a kid here and we the tax payers are responsible for making sure you have shelter food medicines and your child gets an education all while you don't work don't pay taxes and don't want to learn the language! So every time we call a utility company or credit card company we have to hear, "for English, press 1." Most immigrants back in the days our country was strong, came here to be a part of this great country and contribute and you can bet they were learning the language! Their kids didn't get ESL classes! They learned English by speaking it! In class and on the playgrounds. I married a man that came here LEGALLY from Mexico with his mom, who came here LEGALLY, when he was already 9 years old. He didn't speak English when he got here, but he learned quickly! And not in an ESL class! They worked hard and never took a hand out from the government! Today he speaks English better than most teenagers these days! And with no accent at all! And he didn't take the opportunity that living in this country is for granted! He served in the Army when he was younger and is now a firefighter and THE biggest flag flying America lover I know! But, he is also the first person to get pissed of at ALL country's illegals that get free everything! I know that we focus mostly on the biggest groups, the Mexican people, but DAILY he deals with the Armenian people that he gets called out to at all hours of the night, 911 for headaches or anxiety at 2 or 3 in the morning. They are living in a big house with a Mercedes in the driveway, but they pull out a medical card!! WHAT!!!??? I'm not kidding! I think that much of California's budget crisis could be solved if the deported anyone not willing to get a job and learn English. The schools are over crowded with these kids, class sizes are getting bigger, schools are more rundown, teachers are under paid, under respected and constantly asked to do more with less! As a tax payer, the wife of a hard working man and the mother of 3, I get pissed that we will have to home school our boys or pay for private school if we want them to be ensured of a good education! And not because the teachers wouldn't love to teach, they are overwhelmed! Parents don't like it if the teachers say anything to the kids anymore and there are kids with genuine special needs that are in class with the other kids and often they are a huge distraction! These teachers are expected to deal with ADD kids ADHD kids autistic kids kids that don't speak English and some that are just struggling to try to keep up. They don't separate the kids by skill levels now, that would be "ELITIST"! Our kids were identified as gifted, but that doesn't mean crap now since they don't get put in class with all the other gifted kids or get pulled out for special gifted activities, the would be unfair to the ungifted! WHAT!!!!???? Anyway, rock on! Keep the great points coming! We need more people like you to get their voices heard!!!!

  82. I'll echo what so many others have said and say, right on! At only 27 years old, I'm probably just a baby compared to many of these other posters. However, this doesn't stop me from seeing what has changed just in the short time I've been around. I just want everyone to know that not all of the younger generation is drinking the Kool-aid... we're not all ultra-lib and there are some of us out there that believe in faith/family/morality. I'm a huge fan of history and the parallels from past events to what we are facing now are simply staggering. It seems history really does repeat itself.

Anyway, I work hard to support myself and my wife and to keep food on the table and a roof over our heads. I have never asked for handouts because I feel that the fruits of my labor are so much sweeter when it is EARNED. Sadly, it seems this attitude is in short supply these days and I am becoming more and more afraid to bring children into this world. How far we have fallen as a nation! Regardless, I love my country and my family. It's up to people like us and like all these other posters to stand up and be heard. We owe it to ourselves, our ancestors, and future generations to fight for it.

That being said, I have the utmost respect and admiration for our veterans and armed forces. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your services. God bless!

  85. Thank-you so much! Very well written. I totally agree!

I, too, am tired and also agree with the anonymous post above.

The democrats (democracy = mob rule) and the republicans (our country is a REPUBLIC) have both lost site of the constitutional foundation of this country! Our forefathers put a great deal of thought into the formation of this country and that is why it is difficult for the present government (last 20 years) to undermine its foundation. Unfortunately the Constitution is being defiled at a greater pace than ever before and through ignorance and/or indifference those efforts are succeeding. Soon you will see the government declare that the Constitution is irrelevant and they will move it to the Smithsonian!

The #1 priority of the federal government is to protect and defend the union from our enemies. This is not being done and I fear for our future! Most of the other activities of the Fed. Government are illegal and are supposed to be relegated to state control. This is why there are so many state declarations of sovereignty being produced across the country.

Morality has been destroyed and without morals there is no direction towards success. What does it mean when Nancy Pelosi wants to save the mice and kill our babies?

Global warming is a scam! To think that some have the arrogance to believe that they can change the course of the weather, the planet and the solar system.

The government and politicians have gone completely insane! And what happens when the inmates are running the asylum?

I was at the NYC Tea Party. It was great but we have to do more. There are going to be more activities in the coming months. I suggest the people stop reading and blogging and get out there and be seen! Our pursuit of life, liberty and freedom is under attack and if we do not fight back, (you know what)!

Please get out there and "fill the seats."

Thank-you for the opportunity to vent! :)

  86. "I'm Tired" makes many good points, and many agree with him. The question for me is, is he/they willing to concede there may be other ways of looking at thing? Remember, truth is a multi-faceted gem. If not, then I'm tired, too:

I'm tired of people who believe that their view is the only valid one, and anyone who doesn't share their view is unpatriotic or a terrorist, or worse yet, a liberal.

I'm tired of people who claim to be patriotic, "good" Americans, but then want to insist that only English be spoken in this country. Then when you ask them how they reconcile those beliefs with freedom of choice, freedom of expression, or freedom of choice they respond with "Yes, but not when it comes to language." Oh...

I'm tired of people who claim to be in favor of prayer in public schools, then when you ask the obvious question, "So, you wouldn't have any problem if the teacher said, 'OK, take out your Koran's, we're going to pray to Allah now' ?", the first words out of their mouths are: "Well, our country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles, yada, yada, yada." So it takes a while to get to the real issue: Their not in favor of prayer in schools, they're in favor of promoting their brand of religion, but only the one they think is right for all of us.

I'm tired of those who speak with forked tongues: Giving $200 to a mother with six kids is welfare, but giving $200 billion to AIG is
    good capitalism.

I'm tired of the hypocrisy of Fortune 500 companies who attempt to look diverse by featuring black, Asians, and anyone else who stand out in a group photo in their TV commercials, and passing them off as "typical" customers, yet their board room and their photo gallery of top executives looks like the KKK without the hooded sheets.

I'm tired of Rush Limbaugh being passed off as the spokesperson for the real American. Hasn't anyone noticed he never seems happy? He's always ranting about something, and the only time he laughs it's a sarcastic laugh. He is not a happy person, and this is who conservatives hold up as the quintessential American?

I'm tired of people like O'Reilly and Hannity who can't tolerate anyone disagreeing with them without interrupting and name-calling.

I'm tired of the funamental dishonesty of some people who call themselves conservative: Like the two Border Patrol Agents who conservatives claim were sent to prison for 'just doing their jobs.' It is a fundamentl lie. The Border Patrol Agent's weren't sent to prison for doing their job, they were sent to prison because they broke the law: they broke departmental regulations and then obstructed justice by lying about it and attempting to cover up the evidence.

I'm tired of people who call themselves
'conservative' in that they're out of touch with realism: They believe that if your car breaks down and you tow it to a junkyard and put it in with a bunch of other broken down cars and leave it there for ten years, then after ten years it will start up and run just fine. They must feel that way, that's how they feel about our criminal justice system(?)

I'm tired of people who call themselves 'conservative' in that their thinking is so uni-directional. If it snows in Boston, of all places, that's "proof" that there's no global warming.

I'm tired of people who call themselves 'conservative' when they don't live their professed values: they want other people's kids treated in the conservative fashion, but they treat their own kids like Ted Kennedy's values: someone else's kids on dope? Send them to prison. My kid on dope? Give him comforting and understanding. Someone else's kid breaks the law? Send him to jail. My kid breaks the law? Take away his Lexus for two days.

There's lots more, but it's not worthy of my time. People who claim to be conservative are anything but.

  88. Thanks for expressing so eloquently what informed, working Americans think - and thanks to all our military men/women who have fought for that right since this country was founded. Many question how we got in such social disrepair. Two words: public education - which explains the ever increasing ignorance that sends two-legged parasites to Washington D.C., and the racism that handed the most powerful position in the world over to an inexperienced, incompetent narcissist and liar. Since churches turned education over to politicians (over 100 years ago) the downhill decline has been in motion. Only in the last 4 decades have the results become obvious: Educrats are hell-bent on dumbing us down to insect level.

What's happening to this country is wrong. Thank you for putting peoples' thoughts and feelings into words. My only suggestion might be to change the title. If I'd had the ability to wrote this, I might have used "Fed Up", "Had Enough" or even "Pushed Too Far". Of course, it's just a semantics thing. The actual contents rang true and honest. The people who disagree with you are showing their youth, lack of experience and wisdom, and feelings of entitlement. They are the people creating the bad situations in our country. People like you and I have been brought up to be respectful, honest, sincere, responsible, and hard working Americans. Those who would disagree would be the people raised with a sense of entitlement, little respect for anything, and refuse to accept responsibility for themselves and their actions. Not to mention just plain lazy. We, as the older generation, must also accept the responsibility that we have raised a generation of children that fit the above description (though not all have). Only time will show those who disagree with you, how wrong they were. God help them that they have to ability and freedom to change things back.

  94. HOpe-- I've never seen so many young Republicans and young conservatives expressing and defending themselves, now against more disrespect and more hate than ever. I've never seen so many young girls vowing to remain virginal until marriage. There are lots of reasons to put faith in our young people and to begin to believe that these destructive impulses and ideologies are a cancer left over from the 1960s and will burn themselves out when that generation finally loses its youth and influence.

THe Islamic part, I"m more concerned about. It renews itself and increases its hatred with every generation.. not that it hasn't been doing this for a LONG time.. Vlad Dracula led Romanian provinces against the Turks on a mission to Islamize Europe in the 1450s, and two hundred years later they reached the legendary Gates of Vienna.. they killed Dutch colonists in 1886 in Indonesia, blaming the evil west for stirring GOd's wrath in Krakatoa's explosion. The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem allied himself with Hitler, agreeing that Jews should be exterminated, and even sent units of troops to join the Nazi army.

They are everywhere in history, not just in the last fifty years. And they will eventually bring the world to war, a war I"m not sure the west has the testicles to win. I hope and believe America will stand, though.

God bless you and thank you for your service to this country. We really are different, special and GOOD, much as the snobbish Euros get upset by that notion. I've lived in Europe, in Brussels. The Belgian adults whom I came to know were almost all jaded and disappointed with how Belgium turned out. "We don't even have a national anthem" was a common complaint. The citizen wants to be proud of his country but it does not deserve or want his pride.

Here in America we ARE envied, for the right reasons, by the masses who have no voice. Believe it.

    Thanks again!

  101. I'm an American. I love this country - not because it's vast and beautiful, and my birthplace - but because it, alone, among many smart imitators allows me the freedom to fail. And the freedom to fail IS the freedom to succeed. I'm not so much tired with all the ninny BS as I am TOTALLY INFURIATED with over-schooled, under-educated MORONS like that "disgusted Republican Okie." I'd like to plant my size 13 in his toosh and then commence to doing the Hokey Pokey.

  102. Great post Bob,

Your comments get me all riled up to make the following rant. I know the liberal haters will think we are whiners but I'd rather have that label than be like them - sheep who want the government to do everything for them. We whine because we care and unfortunately there's not a lot we can do about it when half the country thinks socialism is a good thing, at least right now - we shall see how long it lasts, and they have the media to back them. Our only hope is the young people wake up and see that this is not such a good thing after all, and that conservatives are not as evil as liberals make them out to be. Conservatives are not perfect but they at least believe in less government and less taxes, and that is what we need for this economy - not the monster stimulus boondoggle shoved on our bill.

Isn't it funny that giving an opinion on your own blog can breed hate mongers who think your opinion is trash? I guess we're not allowed to have an opinion that's different from theirs - they criticize Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh daily for being that way but they find no problem doing it themselves. This is typical of liberals - they're hypocrites. If you don't agree with Bob, why do you feel the need to run his opinion down? Why don't you create your own blog and spout your opinions? This is another liberal tactic, instead of arguing points with their opinions, they shout down the messenger with name-calling.

There are tons of Americans out there who feel the same way as you but of course we are deemed racists, whiners, right-wing extremists, or any other label that makes liberals feel better about themselves, so we have to be careful giving our opinion, which is why we are the silent majority. We only come out in droves when it's absolutely necessary (like when we voted out the liberal Congress after they and Clinton tried to force government health care down our throats). We'll be back when it's needed to shut up Obama & Pelosi and put them in their place - they are supposed to be serving us, not putting us under servitude. It's pretty ironic that a black man is trying to put the shackles on this country.

I'm ex-Navy and lived in Europe so I know what our country is looking to become and it's not a pretty picture. Americans, like Obama, who think Europe is great and this is how we should be are clueless to reality. Have you looked at France and Germany lately BHO? They are getting close to a civil revolt and you think we have an immigration problem - the muslims are taking over Europe and those countries will crumble because they don't want to offend anyone. Do Americans love high unemployment, more dependence on the government, higher taxes, less freedom, no money to spend because that money is tied up in health care, no military to protect us, & immigration gone wild where the minorities run the country? I hope you're happy - this is the 'change' you voted for.

Most countries are jealous of America and I know we don't need any change, other than getting rid of the socialists who want to ruin us. We have the freedom that allows someone like Obama to be elected President and we have the courage to lead others to freedom. Other countries sit on their hands and hope the problems go away while we do something about it. What if America no longer has a military, who will fight to destroy evil in the world? How will we defend ourselves? If it's up to Obama and other liberals there would be no military - the UN will do just fine. Give me a break! For this reason alone, no American should vote for a liberal. There's nothing more important than the security of our country, another failed observation by the mainstream media in giving President Bush the respect he deserves. If we had Obama as President during 9/11, I guarantee we would have been hit with more attacks because none of the anti-terrorist measures would have been passed and we definitely can't inconvenience a terrorist even though we know, he knows, about a bomb that is about to explode and kill hundreds. NO, we'll just let the hundreds die because terrorists have rights!

Where would this world be if we had the media and liberal opinion of today during WWII? Do you honestly think we could have pulled off a D-Day or bombed Hiroshima & Nagasaki? Hell no - D-Day would have been leaked by the press, in the name of fairness, and all of our troops would have been slaughtered and Hitler would have had an easier time controlling the world. Pearl Harbor would have been considered something we should get over and leave poor Japan alone (like 9/11 - it's not their fault they attacked us - we brought it on ourselves). How dare we try to end the war by bombing them in order to save American lives? No, the anti-Americans would have stopped the war far short of Iwo Jima and would have signed a treaty with Japan & Germany that allows them to be our protectorate.

America & Europe of today would not exist and it's sad we have so many in the world who didn't learn from our history. The French didn't need Hitler to ruin their country, they will do it on their own, all in the name of political correctness.

I agree with everything you said but I'm more angry than tired. It's beyond being a little annoyed for me - seeing our country get ruined after years of hard work by our forefathers makes me more pissed off than tired. I have a long list but I'll just name a few (some with humor in mind).

1). I'm angry at how the mainstream media has allowed the liberal ideal to be considered normal and good for the country (thus brainwashing the youth and the naive). No mention of other points of view, no tough interviews with Democratic candidates, no background checks - NO, he's a liberal so let's do everything in our power to get him elected. Let's put all of our resources into ruining whoever the Republican nominee is, and if that person is actually loved by a lot of Americans, throw every negative you can at them so they lose any momentum and keep the liberals in office. Any person who thinks this is fair treatment of a rival party is a communist and has no right to an opinion because you believe only YOUR candidates deserve respect.

This of course is because the people who run the media actually think socialism is a good thing. How the hell is taxing us to death for billions in pork-barrel government spending good for the country? How is getting more and more people dependent on the government a good thing? You can't pay your rent, school loan, you don't feel like looking for a job...no problem - Obama and his liberal cronies are here to help you out. We'll just raise taxes on anything and everything so the people who are doing their duty will keep you going strong in the 'new' changed America.

If you don't think BHO policies are going to raise taxes you are another naive fool. You don't do all this spending and not expect money from another source. Get out your wallet! Obama lied, like most politicians, in portraying himself as a moderate when in reality he's an extreme liberal. This is why he and Pelosi are agreeing on so much. If he was a moderate, do you think he would be agreeing with her?

2). I'm angry at most young people who shouldn't be allowed to vote until they are 25 (unless you're in the military). They voted for socialism and don't even know it. They obviously didn't read their history books, or maybe they did and the liberals in education rewrote history for them. I guess we need a few more 9/11's and/or a complete crash in our economy to wake them up and smell the coffee, or maybe just take away their cellphones.

3). I'm angry that Obama future policies will contain a disguised way of getting rid of Americans ability to own a gun. Liberals believe we are the problem when this will only make crime worse when criminals know the house they are robbing isn't protected. Take a look at Australia - another great country ruined by socialism. Crime is running rampant because they banned weapons. The reason we have these laws are so we can rise up as a nation and take back our country if necessary. If we can't protect ourselves, who is to stop a potential dictator from controlling all of us?

4). I'm angry that black people have forced the term African-American on us. If you are more proud to be African than American, I will buy you a plane ticket to Zimbabwe and you can stay there. I have a Scottish background but no one calls me a Scottish-American.

5). I'm angry when they call alcohol or drug abuse a disease. This is not an abnormal condition of the body - this is complete lack of control for immediate satisfaction.

6). I'm angry when drivers sit in the fast lane going less than the speed limit and will not move over even though a line of cars has formed behind them.

7). I'm angry at the award shows where it should be a celebration of one's acting talent, and instead we are forced to listen to an idiot's diatribe where he will call Obama an elegant man even though he also supports a man and woman only as marriage. I guess Obama will need to swallow his great shame and do it elegantly, but anyone else is a hate monger. What's even worse is he didn't even deserve the award. It's just Hollywood shoving their liberal agenda down the throat of America. They don't care about giving the award to the most deserving person, because they don't care about treating people fairly, only if it helps their cause. Sean Penn is a great actor but Frank Langella was the better actor in these 2 performances. Frank made the mistake in making Richard Nixon look human and not evil like he is portrayed by the media.

8). I'm angry that we constantly hear about global-warming when we can have one mega-volcano blow and we're all dead anyways. Who gives a rats ass about a few degrees going up over 50 years! How do you know it won't go down 2 degrees over the next 50 years and you spent all this time worrying about global-warming when it was actually global-cooling you should have been worrying about? This is just science run amock to use fear to exploit us for money.

  103. Dear Mr Hall (and all readers)

Thank you all for your thoughts and texts.

I´m 31, man, single, white, educated, living and working in Sweden, born in Finland. Middle class in a way, on the other hand one of many to pay for and be polite and open minded and God knows what for others mistakes and hatefulness and mid-evil attitudes. Yes, Im tired too. Since Sweden is one of the most non-corupt, free, equal etc countries in the world im happy to be a citisen here. But i´m troubled.

What is going on in Russia, Middle-east, Netherlands, England and now Denmark and as well Sweden? And USA? It scares me. What happened to the proud for hard work and unity and defense for freedom, democraty and capitalism?

Normally I call (and still do) myself a sort of mix of capitalist, feminist and classic liberal. The youthly-thiefly "all for free" attitudes, the leftwing extremists, the altruistic stupidity and the warm welcome of negative "multi-culturalism" (islamism!) is scaring me.

The politically correctness has tipped over here in northern Europe. None of the parties in goverment or in the opposition (In Sweden) takes defense of what the western civilisation has built up. Well, maybe they think, but they dont say and they kepp bowing for the masses (who is that, really?) and the weakness in trying to be "openminded" and modern.

Seriously, the clock is close to moving backwards. I dont know where to turn.

    Best regards
    Mr K

I'm truly sick and tire of them too.

He is frustrated..as many of us are..at you self righteous people who do not get it!!! I know there are many out there sir that believe the same thing. The problem is, how do we fight it? The voting system is corrupt when Acorn has registered one person 78 times (yes, I saw the guy admit it on television), and when the votes of our military are..oops..lost or thrown out because they were reportedly received a few hours late. How pathetic. Was it Stalin who said..."It doesn't matter who votes, but who counts them." We are toast unless we rise up and revolt before they take away our second amendment. I am scared for my teenage son. He is angry and sees what is going on, but most of his friends are clueless. What can we do???? We need to unite.

Now, we are tired, we have all we need and we are not spending any more..so yes, maybe we created this problem by stopping our spending and not paying taxes on any more luxuries...Let the gerneration who voted Obama in pay!!!

  111. Mr. Hall, I just read your "I'm Tired" in an email I received from a friend. Thanks for stating what I feeld. I am 67 and also very tired of the Liberal NEWS media, except for Fox News, not reporting the true facts on what Mr. Obama wants to do to this country.

To all those people that voted for him, you will get what you voted for: higher taxes and larger government telling your waht you can and cannot do and where and what medical services you can have in the future.

I worked for over 50 years for what I have and now the Governement wants to take half of it away to give to some dead-beats that don't want to work for a living and want a free hand-out.

I am a retired AF veteran and served over 25 years in the AF making a lot less than what my civilian counterparts made and now I at lest have a somewhat comfortable retirement that Mr. Obama wants to take half away from me and give to the dead-beats and illegals in this country. I have ahd enough.

Semper FI Mr. Hall, well stated!!

I played with a bunch of "America Haters" and had a lotta fun today. Here's what I wrote to my friend Alex, a lefty Brit jornalist, (who was probably playin' in the south of England at the same time)

    Tom Dollard wrote at 7:49pm
"....Monte Grappa has a topping of maybe 2 meters of blinding white snow on most of it's massive top and flanks but finally, Paderno has a springlike day, sunshine, shortsleaves, even moscerini (bugs). Full field, 11 a side, mixed group, Moroccan, Slav, Ukraine, the regular Italians and, of course, the ol' Yank, who's playin' up front on the left. Playin' like doo-doo actually, missed some, of what should have been easy through balls in front of goal, shamed, humiliated. Second half starts 3-3, they haven't yet benched the Yank and he's on the far post waitin' on a corner kick. It cuts through the crowd of defenders across the 'specchio' (mirror) of the goal front like a line drive, hard, fast and straight.. at the Americano's left foot followed by a deafening roar, the crowd on the sidelines breaks out in 'You'll Never Walk Alone' as the ball caroms into the back of the net. to be continued..."

by the way, I too, was born in '46 not far from Philadelphia..but I look forward with happy anticipation to the world to come (here on earth) now that we have some decent, intelligent people in charge (and up to the job, prepared for the challenge) of fixin' what's left of the good ol' US of A

Dream on, there's no turnin' back, buckle your seat belt and enjoy the ride,

You are part of large group of mostly middle aged and elderly male descendants of European immigrants, no? I also fall into that category. We have not done as good a job as you seem to believe we've done and the times really are a changin' now. I am fortunate to have a 9 year old son (Italian and American citizenship)who already speaks 3 languages. He will hopefully be prepared for the unpredictale future.
Due to factors that are not easy to understand or explain with honesty, the world is in flux, moving at a pace difficult to follow. Tribal urges are being fomented by politicians and demagogues. We have movements throughout Europe in regions as diverse as your Scotland to the Veneto where I live in Northern Italy that are not at all dissimilar to National Socialism in Germany in the late 20's in Germany. The USA is not immune from these tendencies. I believe that we've just endured 8 years on the threshold of fascism, of course you disagree, right? I also believe that BHO is the proper antidote to that disastrous possibility. AND.. the strength of America is still in it's ability to bounce back and,of course, it's immigrants. Enough, thanks for reading this far and good night

  119. Why is this becoming a muslim bashing forum? Is it because your knowledge of Islam is limited to the abhorent behavior of a minority of power grabbers using Islam as their mean to achieve their goals or mentally unstable people committing murder and calling it "honor killing" ? This would be analogus to using Hitler as an example of Christianity or burning people live at the stake as an example of orthodoxy. When an estranged Christian husband kills the entire family is that a reflection of his religion? I submit to you that demonizing and creating hatred and fear of any group/religion is wrong. You may want to consider being "tired of" hatred and bigotry to your list.

But, for those of us who have had a drink, watched some porn, or pulled the lever, taken a pain pill, or played a video game and not become addicted, we need to have a bit of compassion for the 15% who have the disease of addiction.

It is too easy to judge and condemn these folks rather than draw boundaries and extract consequences. For some it is easier to justify and enable their behavior rather than allow them to fall on their own to a bottom they can rebound from.

But to lump all addicts together as you have done in your masterpiece, is to display a great lack of understanding about the folks who suffer this horrible disease. I know many who are thus afflicted, and none who want to be. (And my politics are slightly to the right of Attila the Hun.)

  133. I just received this blog as an email, and I read it about 5 times. I'm in my mid-30's and I feel the same way. I work hard for a living, and have since I was 16 yrars old. I worked my way through college, 2 jobs + full-time schooling, and I take care of my kids and my needs. I work with a wonderful single mom who gets NO help from her son's father, and who spends the bulk of her paycheck on safe and decent daycare for her kid so she can work, but doesn't qualify for Healthy Families insurance for her son because she "earns too much", can't afford to insure him through work and also keep him fed, housed, clothed, and cared for, and yet is told by the state that she is required to have insurance for him. But if she were an illegal or unemployed welfare, they'd be covered. I, with full insurance for which I pay a hefty sum out of every paycheck, had to pay $500 for each of my two children's deliveries, but if I walked off the street into the ER with no money and no insurance, I'dve been covered. Hm, so what lesson does this send to us?
Work hard - get screwed and work even harder to pay for the people who CHOOSE to not work. Spend time away from my beautiful children so I can support them, care for them, set a good example for them - while illegals and unemployed people pump out kids right and left, let them roam free and get into trouble, learn only bad lessons, and I get to foot their bills.
And yes, I vote every election, but it feels pointless, it doesn't seem to ever get better. People look at the short-range hype and not the long-term effects of what they're voting for.
Sorry, didn't mean to rant myself, just wanted to say thanks for a fabulous sum-up, glad to see people of my generation and younger chiming in.

I teach in a low socioeconomic area where most parents lie for their children, teach them how to shirk responsibility, and do as little as possible, yet seem to accumulate more possessions than I could ever imagine.

I don't understand why it has to be more difficult for our white students to get into the Gifted and Talented program after they have qualified because there has to be a certain number of minority students in the program. I do not know if they are qualified. I don't understand why our white students are turned away from magnet schools because they are not a minority. I don't understand why the district will help me get a masters degree if I get it in Spanish but not anything else. I don't understand why our bilingual teachers get a salary stipend for teaching bilingual and an additional $1,000 to order supplies when I get $0 and have more students to teach.

  137. I'm almost 39 and I'm tired already... I can't imagine what life will be like when I'm in my 60s or 70s. I started working a 12 - playing piano for my church choir. Worked 30+ hours a week through my first two years of college, and 40+ hours a week through the last 2 years. I've worked full time ever since except when I was laid off after the company I was with was acquired by another and my center was closed. I already had no doubt that I'd be working at least part time well past retirement age, and more likely until I die. Now I really wonder if there will even be a USA when I get there.

Did you ever take a class in macroeconomics? Even if your neighbor doesn't deserve it, when their home gets foreclosed on, it lowers the value of your home. So it fucking affects you

And when the real estate market goes down, the banks collapse. And when the banks collapse, nobody can borrow money to expand businesses (or fucking keep them going in times of economic hardship), so people get laid off and don't get hired.

And then those people don't spend money, because they don't have it and they don't buy whatever your employer is selling so your employer downsizes and you lose your job

    It is all fucking connected.

So when our government spends money on drug rehabilitation, your neighborhood isn't filled with crack addicts. Even if its not your neighborhood, your city, your state. The crime level is something that effects everybody.

And it wouldnt bother me if you just didn't get it, but that's not the problem. You refuse to listen to 15 seconds of an explanation because god forbid fucking the economy is more complicated than "I hate paying taxes. Cut my taxes."

You voted for those fuckers when they said they'd cut your taxes. And they did.

And they cut necessary shit. Like infrastructure. And fucking regulatory agencies.

And then they increased spending anyway.

You demand lower taxes as if the money could magically come from somewhere else. No. All you have done is save the burden for YOUR children and YOUR grandchildren, so now WE have to pay because you voted for lower taxes when we couldn't afford it. So don't go bitching about your granddaughter when this is your fault.

You know what I'M tired of? Having to pay for the mistakes of past generations. I work hard, I pay my own tuition and rent, and I found my own job. And you know what, I just barely get by. And when I get my taxes, I pay them proudly. Do you know why? Because I can dream of a day when my grandchildren aren't fucking doomed because of MY greediness. My conscience is clean. Yours shouldn't be.

Stop playing the blame game and making this partisan issue. This isn't anyone's fault but yours. This is a democracy. You are a voter. You did this. You fucked up. You are responsible for the actions of the government you put in place. I'm not bitching about politicians or corruption or who is better than who here. The problem is you.

So don't whine when you have to pay to clean up a mess you helped create because you were too selfish and unwilling to listen to reason and to realize that nobody has all the answers. Nobody's saying they have all the answers, but your answers sure as fuck haven't worked out so give someone else a chance.

Also, don't bitch about too much government and regulation and then come right back and bitch when your children are playing with lead toys and your bank collapses.

This is your fault. Let us fucking fix it, since you obviously can't. Stay here and rant about how tired you are, if that really makes you feel less guilty for what you've done.

I am less than half your age (and undoubtedly have MUCH less to offer) and I pay my taxes without complaint. I support my government without bitterness to those that receive my money. I receive no financial aid from the government, I'm not in drug rehabilitation, I'm not a minority. I'm just a fucking citizen who wants to fix this mess. I pay my taxes willingly so that my COUNTRY can succeed, not just me. Because I'm not fucking worth anything if my country has gone to shit (Say hello to 2009).

And here you are moaning about how tired you are of having to support other people who've done nothing to earn it. That attitude is the reason we are where we are today. Because everything is connected, but you can only focus on yourself and people like you.

I apologize for all the swearing, but you have no idea how frustrating it is to listen to someone rant about something that is so clearly their own fault. And not only this, you have the nerve to feign concern for the future generations. Guess you should have thought of that before you demanded things we could never afford.

I'm tired of spoiled people like you, trying so desperately to pull this country back into an age that can never return because of what you have done.

  139. Dear Robert Hall,

My name is Ryan, and I hail from CT not so far from the senate you once were apart of. I read your blog, and must say coming from a military oriented family I am proud to know that you once served in our armed forces. As of right now I work 3 jobs as a mechanic, a manager in a local automotive parts store, and I repair agriculture equipment for private owners all on a limited schedule. The rest of my time is spent at the University of New Haven studying in my SR. year with a major in the fine arts (i wish to be a graphic designer) with a minor in communications. Your words are inspiring, and remind me of the lessons my grandfather told me. He served 60 years in the United Illuminating co, as well as serving in WWII in the Navy. He spoke of helping your fellow man, and valuing the quality of work one has the ability to achieve. I suppose what I am getting at is like many of your readers, I too am tired. Tired of being almost 22 and working harder than most people twice my age have ever worked in their life. At 10 I was bailing hay on a privately owned farm, and have never stopped working since. I take pride in doing what is right and moral. I value others beliefs as long as they value mine, and love this great country of ours. I am often confused at many of the rulings, and awkward actions out government makes. Keep writing your fine blogs sir. You have my attention, and I am relieved to know that in this time of confusion and utter laziness hope still exists for people who work hard. Thank you for your time, and Semper Fi.

Thank you for serving your time to keep me free.

  141. I'm 62 and I totally agree. My husband worked for 40 years without missing work. He never took a sick leave because he thought it was his duty to support the company that supported him. He never had a work related accident and was with Search & Rescue for 53 yrs, a volunteer fireman, taught kids boxing, was a Scout leader and held many commands with the Legion including president and vice president. A few years before mandatory retirement, we found it necessary to adopt our grandson. With our justice is the right of every citizen( you can laugh now) it cost us over 50 thousand dollars in legal fees. We had to remortgage the house and file for bankruptcy. When he retired, he immediately got another job a 10 hr drive away. he didn't want to leave me and our son without transportation, so he hitchhiked home in the dead of winter on his 4 day split. A couple months before the bankruptcy was finished, he was killed by malpractice. ( Proven by a year long investigation by the College of Physicians and Surgeons.)The bankruptcy company immediately took our home that he had paid on for 26 years and put it up for sale. Our debts totaled just over 37 thousand dollars. The house is worth over 200 thousand, so to make sure my 11 yr old son and I will be homeless, they are charging me a daily interest, with all their court costs, all disbursement fees, all legal costs in the sale and a few other things. (I didn't have the money for a lawyer and had to represent myself.) What a joke that was. The house was not put up for sale until after the recession so of course that's my fault too, so they are going to lower the price. That way they will never have to pay me a dime difference from what is owed and what they make on the sale. Already, my 37 thousand dollar debt is over 100 thousand with all their charges and interests.
In Canada if a person dies from malpractice, it can be held up in court for 10 years or more. Malpractice lawyers start at $500 an hour. I am a 62 yr. old disabled widow with an 11 yr. old child and this is how our country has treated us. My husband would never believe it. We live on a monthly pension smaller than rental costs but the government or the courts could care less. But, any immigrant coming to Canada gets a lot more money than any Canadian citizen on welfare or unemployment. They get housing, free English lessons, money to start up businesses and a whole whack of stuff no Canadian would ever get. And for that, we are not allowed to even mention Christianity in school, we are not allowed to protect ourselves from home invaders or even someone trying to kill us. Our Police are corrupt as well as our government. Like you, I won't be around that long but I'm just sick about the world my children and grandchildren will inherit. I do not believe Obama is the answer to world peace and the hero that most think he is or will be. God help us all. I will be raising a child on the streets and if it can happen to me,it can happen to you and anyone you love.
I've posted my URL on malpractice in Canada.

Whether you give a shit or not, this Marine has earned every single ounce of right to piss about how this country is going and the future that lays ahead as a socialist state. He did not fight for this country for it to just over step bounds and impinge on him or anyone for that matter.

  144. As an Australian I see parallels in your subject article with what is happening here.

Your words ring true throughout the 'free' world and the sentiment on the loving and peaceful religion of Islam is relevant here as well as in the US. I pity the poor, downtrodden, run-of-the-mill Moslem who believes in his religion and manages to live happily in a multi-religious community - as most of them do, but have nothing but contempt for those - growing fat on foreign aid - who managed to grab the money in one hand and slap the donor with the other.

One of these days, we may just wake up and realise that we are getting shafted by a bunch of apologists, both in government and in public life and say stop. I can't wait for that day, although, like you, I think it will be after I am dead and cold.

I'm stupefied by the simplistic self serving philosophy of most Republicans which I believe to be: steady stream (river) of money for military contractors; lots of police; cut social programs and infrastructure spending to a bare minimum and last but not least, few if any taxes for those most in a position to pay them. In other words "I got mine and f..k you". All of this embellished with flags and eagles and hands over hearts. "the last refuge of a scoundrel is patriotism" ... dear ol' Oscar Wilde

  156. Mr. Hall's post is well stated, and I enjoyed the prevailing debate.

I sense a prevailing feeling in the comments that Mr. Hall's opinion is shared by most of the country. Example: "..when the prevailing feeling appears to be the exact opposite. (Who is voting for these people, the undocumented workers)"

That's just not true. As of this post Mr. Obama still has a 63% approval rating on the policies he and Congress have enacted according to Gallup, and a 58% approval rating on Fox News' own Rasmussen poll. Granted Congress' approval ratings leave a lot to be desired.

Everyone has a right (and duty) to disagree with the direction of the country, but it's certainly not the majority of Americans that believe the same way many of you do. Blame the "liberal media," "liberal universities," or whatever, but this country is moving to the left.

  160. Dear Seargent,

I enjoyed reading your "tired article". I take offense to one paragraph. Drug addiction is a disease and I have it. I have been sober from a non-controlled prescription drug called Ultram since October 17, 2004. My addiction cost me my medical license and a felony conviction for "drug diversion". This is when a doctor writes a prescription for someone for the purpose of getting that drug for themself. I did this after the drug ceased to be sampled after its patent ran out. I take full responsibility for my actions and I have worked hard to stay sober. Because of my felony I am on the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General's exclusion list which bars me from participating in Medicare or Medicaid until January 2013. I am 42 years old and have four children and I cannot practice because of being on this list. I am a good orthopedic surgeon; I trained at The Campbell Clinic which is arguably the best orthopedic training program in the world. Not all drug addicts are in the gutter blowing cocaine up their nose. People who are not drug addicts are quick to judge addicts and say it is a lapse in morality or weakness of character. It is impossible for those without drug addiction to understand the disease. I also have cancer and had 3/4 of my pancreas, half my liver, my spleen, part of my stomach and part of my lung removed last year. I am left in chronic pain from the operation, but since I am a drug addict, I do not take narcotics.

I respect your right to feel the way you do about drug addicts, but I wanted you to see that not all addicts continue on in their disease. It can be controlled and by the way, it is costing you nothing for me to control my addiction. We addicts have to stick together in AA or NA to stay sober. I am hopeful to live long enough to be able to practice again so that my education until the age of 31 does not go to waste, but it is an uphill climb up Mount Everest.

  162. Ok Jarhead!!!I had three brothers were jarheads in WWII. I chose Navy and then Air Force - 23 years total and I totally agree with everything you wrote. In fact, I thought I was reading my own thoughts. I did the Vietnam dance, and like you and all the others who did Duty, Honor, Country, honestly, earned the right to be "tired", tired of those losers, especially those in the congress who cannot see that Socialism has not worked anywhere, and only those who continue in that mode are sustained by gun-toting totalitarists (sp). I also dread what is happening to our country, and my only disappointment is that I will not be around when the armed revolution occurs within the next 50 years to bring this country back to its previous greatness, unless the electorate wakes up before then. This current bunch in Washington is the worst I have seen in my lifetime -- the Good Lord willing I will be 81 next month. Best of luck to you JARHEAD; my Grandson is also a Jarhead.

  163. Mr. Hall,

Thank you for this post. It represents everything I view. I am 16 years old and astounded at all the atrocities the left-wing get away with. I live in Oklahoma, overall a Conservative state, but as I walk around school and hear what the kids are saying, I'm worried. They believe all the propaganda the left-wing media projects. If I get in a friendly debate with someone, it all of sudden becomes a fierce battle with multiple people attacking me. I'm worried for our future.

I just posted this post in a note on my Facebook, of course crediting it to you. I'm hoping other teenagers will see it and finally realize the truth. Which probably won't happen, but I can dream, right? Or has that been taken away by the government, too?

    Thanks again.
    God bless you.

  164. Dear Robert...I want to thank you for your service to our country. My husband recently retired from the USAF after 24 years. I'm tired and so is he.

I'm sick of people having little to no sense of compassion, honesty or intregrity. I'm also tired of people whining about the things that aren't important, about how we treat terrorists and how we should respect them and their customs. That to me is a joke of large proportion.

I'm tired of people forgetting about September 11, 2001 and forgetting that freedom isn't free. I'm tired of the left winged media manipulating the american people and I'm frightened because the american people believe most of what they hear on local news channels.

I honestly fear the future of the United States. I guess I'm fortunate that we don't have any children, but I do have other family members that will have to endure the mess our elustrious president and his cabinet are getting us into.

Once again thank you for stating what many of us think and feel. I just hope we get our country back before we end up like a third world nation.

    Sincrely,

  166. First off, thank you for serving. Secondly, I think while you may be tired, you are awesome. I can't say for sure because I haven't polled anyone, but I believe "I'm Tired" depicts what a whole lot of Americans feel. I find it tragic that in America, the greatest democracy on the planet, the voices of millions of "tired" Americans falls on deaf ears. I feel terrible for my grandchildren and the world they're inheriting. I can see it now, "America, the land of the entitled".

All of my friemds and associates agree, everyone I discuss these issues with agrees with you. Can someone, then, tell me WHY we are in this mess???? What is it that we can DO to fix this??? If so many of us feel this way, then how do we change it instead of all of us sitting here lamenting the state of our (once) great nation? How is it that none of the politicians voting in these ridiculous laws are being held accountable to US???? If what we are saying and believing makes SENSE, why are these people still in office????

  169. In '64, don't exactly know why, but I backed Goldwater. After that was for the most part, ignorant and/or apolitical. 4 years ago, a group of north Africans bombed the Madrid commuter trains causing horrendous damage and helped remove the pro-American Aznar. Their desired result was achieved, Spanish troops were removed from Iraq.
I started to pay attention to the words and actions of our fearless leaders and concluded that we were being led by an administration who were willing to risk worldwide confusion and death of not only US soldiers but 100's of thousands of 'untermenschen', poor Arabs, to achieve thier end of compliant regimes in the middle east for the profits that would follow.
    I was no longer 'apolitical'
No, 'anonymous' we don't all agree with you, as a matter of fact, the American people have woken up and no longer agree with you. Maybe the majority of old farts you know agree with you but, my friend, change has come to America.

  172. For a seemingly well educated guy your history is really lacking.
About being sorry for your granddaughter--Let your readers know just what era you would have preferred to have your granddaughter grow up. Would she have had a better opportunity to grow up in he 30's?, 40's?, 70's? You admire the most unsuccessful secretary of state in our nations history, Condi Rice. Do you think she would have had more opportunity had she been born when you were in '43? You and I know the truth as do your readers. You don't like the oil money going to the Saudi's and their policies? You were an elected offical, why don't you just tell us exactly which party the leaders of our oil companies have overwhelmingly supported over the years? Yup, we all know the answer to that one also.
There's plenty of blame to go around and the Democrats absolutely own a lot of it but this type of right wing rant divides our country far more than any threat from the outside.
    My background?
Here's some history you might enjoy. I'm from California where the largest tax increases AND spending have all come from three governors-Reagan, Wilson, and now Arnold.

  173. Well, i'm 61 and i put in more hours per week than Robert A. Hall, and
    i'm not tired.
I don't think i will be tired in 2 years, but i'm not certain, of
    course.
I hope i don't get as crusty and fearful when i get old. But i'm pretty
    sure i won't.

There are some internal contradictions i caught in this. This is what i
    would expect from someone
who is absolutely certain they are right. My feeling is that such a
    stance is far from wisdom.

Condi Rice is no genius. Maybe partisan true believers are also
    incapable of comprehending that.
How could someone who has a Ph.D. specializing in U.S. - Soviet
    relations go on making speeches
that had a glaring historical error, for years, until it was caught by
an amazed European press. I have
a high school education, and i could tell it was a mistaken reference.
    ( Ask me, if
you wonder. ) Or her use of a quotation that is false - how intelligent
does one have to be, to
double check your work? ( Ask me, if you need to know quote. )

"that slammed Palin with two years as governor for being too
inexperienced for VP, but touted Obama
with three years as senator as potentially the best president ever. "

Look, Alfred E. Neuman of Mad Magazine has 60 years experience. Here's
    what sank Sarah Palin:
her own words! Do you really think Ms. Palin could debate Mr. Obama?
    What you'd have is a
junior high school student vs. a law school graduate. Sarah Palin,
    clearly a nitwit - i consider it
the height of partisanship to pretend that she is qualified to be more
    than governor of a backwater
    state.

Here's another contradiction. Usually conservatives say the country is
    going to hell regarding gay
rights, etc. But Mr. Hall says, "the tolerance for Gay people of Iran".
Is that really the way it's
going, the US is becoming MORE conservative? Is that what he's
    complaining about in this
example, the US is becoming more restrictive of gay rights? Which way is
    it, Mr. Hall?

"and the freedom of speech of Venezuela". Yes, Venezuela has opposition
    newspapers and TV
stations. Chavez won every election for president that he ran in - free
    elections verified by
international monitors. In the USA we say, "Have a nice election - just
    don't elect any one
    we don't like!"

"And I'm tired of harassment from cool people treating me like a freak
when I tell them I never tried marijuana."

What kind of trash does this guy hang out with, anyway? Maybe he needs
to find a better class of people.
Or maybe the harassment is all in his mind, in which case he should see
    a psychiatrist.

"So here's the deal. I'll let myself be subjected to all the humiliation
and abuse that was heaped on terrorists at Abu Ghraib or Gitmo,"

Here's my deal. No cheating - it's a deal if you could draw a card like
the Afghani taxi driver who was picked up, jailed, and beaten to death
over a day. Or the Iraqi general who was suffocated in a sleeping bag.
    These kind
of things didn't happen that often, but they did happen, and unless your
deal, Mr. Hall, includes that possiblity,
    it's chickenshit.

"But I'm also glad to be 63. Because, mostly, I'm not going to get to
see the world these people are making. I'm just sorry for my
    granddaughter."

Maybe Mr. Hall is tired because he's so negative. However, nature has a
way of dealing with negative people.
It gets them off the stage: they get tired and die earlier than people
who are optimistic. That means, people who don't feel the sky is falling
and the world is going to hell. I think his granddaughter and all coming
generations will be smarter than we are, and have good, wonderful
reasons to be optimistic. For just a couple examples, look at the
advances in medicine, or the decline of ignorance and religion -
    including Christianity.

"Read this and send it on."

This is like waving a red flag in front of a bull: i will come charging
out of the pen with blood in my eyes.

"If you agree, you should visit his blog as well".

  174. I'm tired of a country that invades another to grab its wealth in the name of looking for weapons of mass destruction. I'm tired of a country that installs itself as the savior of the world and thinks it can invade any country any time for false assumptions. I'm tired of marines and soldiers who buy into the lie that Osama cannot be found. America has the technology to track Bin Laden. Stop this silly logic!

I assume Ed'wind'o is going to volunteer to go over there and show those soldiers and Marines how to accomplish this.

  175. Thank you Mr Hall for all your words you spoke on this blog, amusing that even far-left wingnuts have to attempt there hate speech here but no matter there time is short. I promised my family that I would stand down and give it two years in righting this wrong imposed by these socialist parasites, after that paper and pen get put away, then we right this Republic. May God have mercy upon my enemy's because I will not.

  176. I'm not sure what the name is of the person who wrote this article, because I simply found it sitting in my inbox and clicked on the link to the blog so I could leave a comment. So whoever you are, this is for you.

    You are a shit.

Your article has somehow managed to encapsulate everything that is wrong with your odious, hate-infested, failed state of Amerika. The only success you have achieved is to have proven to people like me that the Ugly Amerikan isn't just a harsh stereotype, but all too disturbingly true. It just shocks me that people like you have the nerve to feign pride in a country that, since its birth, has risen on the subjugation of weaker people and left a curse wherever it has cast its greedy, bloodthirsty attention.

Let's skip past your first paragraph, which was basically just you congratulating yourself. Let's also dismiss your childish comparisons with other countries; there is no nation in the world, throughout history, that has relied so much on a combination of ethnic cleansing and treachery to build its foundations as the United States of Amerika. Your country was 'founded' when a small group of slave-holding aristocrats decided that they wanted to reap all the economic advantages of their plantations for themselves, without paying any fees to their British overlords. The only statesman who opposed this was Thomas Paine, which was why he was shut out from the corridors of power and consigned to oblivion. With him died the only true spirit of 'free' Amerika that ever existed. Hmm, now there's a history to be proud of. When a US President goes on national TV and apologises for the very way in which the country was born, then you can start to cast your ignorant judgement upon other, more honest nations.

Of course, no Amerikan rant can be complete without some ugly hate speech aimed at Muslims, and true to the cliche, here you are to display your sheltered stupidity. Tell me, where in the Qur'an does it actually speak of honour killings? Presumably, having made such claims in your little speech, you must have researched the matter first, right? Of course you did. So where does the Qur'an instruct Muslims to kill their girls for going to school, and all the other Hollywood-sponsored drivel that you have conjured up? Can you provide the chapter and the verse? No...you can't can you, you moron. Those cases that you cite are cases of sheer ignorance, which have no basis in Islamic doctrine. Unlike, of course, the US policy of torturing civilians, which is very much a part of Amerikan military doctrine. But surprisingly, you didn't touch on that. Who knows, maybe your military career came off the back of applying the same noble techniques upon the 'gooks' in Vietnam, hence your reluctance to criticise it.

All your vitriol about Democrats and other internal political issues means nothing to me; you Amerikans are so cute, pretending that the outside world gives a shit about Palin, or Obama, or any of the other scumbags that walk around in Washington, pretending that their country has something good to offer to the world. It doesn't.

Perhaps the most galling aspect of your repulsive, hypocritical tirade is what you had to say in an attempt to defend the bestial behaviour of your soldiers across the world. Let me explain something to you, dickhead. If there is a big bag in a room, bursting at the seams with something, and a couple of cockroaches eventually crawl out of it, then it is a pretty safe bet that the bag is full of cockroaches. The few, sporadic reports that came out of Iraq and Afghanistan, documenting the human rights violations carried out by US 'soldiers', were not isolated incidents; they were simply the only ones that somehow made it to press. For all we know, as I'm typing, there is another 15 year old girl out there being gang raped and set on fire by the same US 'soldiers' who murdered her family minutes earlier; or maybe at this exact moment there is another convoy of US 'soldiers' who, in reaction to hearing the firing of bullets, are currently shooting at everything in sight and murdering any unarmed civilians they see. Both of these have happened in reality, and I do not doubt that they will happen again. In fact, why even look at the horror that you monsters inflict on others? There have been cases of female Amerikan soldiers dying of dehydration out in Iraq...want to know why? Because they avoid drinking water in fear that if they have to go to the toilet at night, they will be caught and raped by their comrades. I read that report over a year ago, and it made me physically sick. So when I read accounts of Amerikan soldiers handing out sweets from their tanks to Iraqi kids so that those starving children will act as human shields in the event of an insurgent attack, I don't feel too much surprise nowadays. The only thing that surprises me are idiots like you, who pretend that there is an iota of dignity or honour in the armed forces of your filthy, depraved country.

In the immediate wake of the World Trade Centre attacks, I watched with many across the world and felt a genuine pang of upset for the US...now, as I read daily reports about the kind of atrocities that your subhuman comrades inflict on innocent, God-fearing people, I feel only joy when I hear about random high-school shootings that remove just a few more Amerikan lives from this planet. That is what people like you have done to me, and most probably done to many others in the world. I know that one day I will be cured of this bloodlust that exists within me, but for you and your kind, I can only hope that you will find the pain you have inflicted on others visited back upon you, if not in this life then at least the next.

    And 'hoo-rah' to that.

  177. Couldn't agree with you more, Mr. Hall. I found a copy of this on Facebook, Googled to find out if it was an accurate account or made up and found your blog. I posted this on my own blog, to go live on Tuesday I believe. But I also posted it on my Facebook notes and am getting lots of positive responses for you. Thank you for saying so eloquently what so many of us believe.

  178. I’m tired too !

First, let me say that in no way do I intend to diminish the problems that countless people are going through right now, financially and otherwise. With that being said…………. I’m tired of seeing so called bums and beggars on the streets with cell phones, gold teeth, shined shoes, and diamond studded earrings. You are not hurting until you have lost everything. Many of us, who may or may not be “comfortable” right now have been worse off, and worked our way out of deeper holes. I’m tired of politicians telling me I need to give up what I’ve worked hard for to help those who choose not to do anything to help themselves.

I’m tired of those same politicians telling me that we are doing all we can to win the war on terrorism when we aren’t. I was not ever a Bush fan, however he was absolutely correct when he said “if you’re not with us then you are against us”. Countries who are not doing enough to quell the growth of terrorism are themselves terrorists. Period. They have no rights under God to go on breathing good oxygen. If they don’t have the means to combat the terrorist’s then all they have to do is ask for help, America has a reputation for helping those in need.

Same goes for people in our country who kill, murder, rape, and commit crimes against children. There is NO PLACE for them on God’s great earth. They need to answer to God and no one else. A few cents worth of brass, lead and gunpowder is what they deserve. It is a shame that we spend more to defend and protect them than we do on any of our great Sailors, Soldiers, and Airmen who put their lives on the line. Not only that, they leave their families behind for weeks, months and even years, asking nothing in return but to keep the very freedoms they are fighting for.

I’m tired of media and Hollywood types broadcasting polarizing views that are not in alignment with the American people, but that warp and twist the minds of those who listen. I’m especially tired of people like Rush Limbaugh who DO NOT represent Republicans or Americans, but rather they represent hate and disrespect. I’m tired of Michael Steele who IS the representative of the Republicans apologizing to a media far right winged punk.

I’m tired of people who will say anything to get in a position of power only to turn around and do the very things he promised to say he would be against. Almost every Staff position that BHO has tried to fill has taken multiple attempts due to him trying to appoint crooked lobbyist friends. There is something terribly wrong with this. I DID not vote for BHO, as a matter of fact, I WAS a registered Democrat until last year. BHO is arrogant and contriving. He promises everyone the world to get elected then turns the other cheek and does something stupid. I thank God everyday that I am NOT a member of the Armed forces anymore because I could not in good conscience follow the orders of this Pagan.

If the government really wants to fix what is wrong, they need to go after the crooked bankers, lobbyists and politicians, take back the money they stole, even if it means taking away from their “innocent” children, whose trust funds and off shore bank accounts are a result of mom and dads crooked, illegal operations. Same with businesses, take away their assets and turn them into right to work programs for the honest people who need jobs.

I’m tired of hearing on the radio the liberals crying that lawyers and bankers are having to apply for $10.00 per hour jobs to muck out kennels. That’s right, I heard that on the radio last week, they said “it’s not right to see them suffer to make only $10.00 an hour.” These same lawyers and politicians and bankers (and liberal talk show hosts) who were against raising minimum wage are now complaining about having to muck out kennels.

O.K. I’ve made enough complaints, now for some solutions. We don’t need to bailout these banks, companies, insurances, etc. If they are in that bad of shape it is due to one of a few reasons. They either are doing business in a way that is outdated or doing business in a crooked fashion (in which case see my paragraph above about going after the money they stole.) What we are going through is a normal, albeit considerable, market correction. What we do need is to invest in the very infrastructure of this country, roads, water, power, police, mass transportation and security.

Changing the security posture is very important, I have travelled via air for many years, and I feel less secure now than ever. During a recent trip across country I watched our very inept TSA people allow a person through security with identification that expired in 1996. These same security personnel saw fit to confiscate an 8 ounce jar of honey from my wife. O.k. o.k…… I can hear you all saying that we are restricted to 3 ounces of liquid for a carryon. What you don’t know is that the honey was bought inside the SeaTac airport AFTER we had gone through security. When we arrived at a connecting airport, we were forced to exit security only to reenter security. That is when the fun began. Trying to show the brilliant TSA agent what had happened, including showing the receipt from inside the security area was useless. Did I say this same TSA agent had just allowed a (non-English speaking) person with an expired identification through? These TSA agents are NOT qualified, they do NOT have the training, nor do they have the commitment of our Armed forces personnel. Fire the TSA personnel and put the Military in our airports. They not only have the training and professionalism, they deserve the “Shore duty” I for one would feel much more secure seeing a Marine or Sailor or Airman or Soldier with a loaded weapon securing the airports than some of the earring wearing, fat, slovenly people the TSA has seen fit to “protect” us.

  179. Dear Mr. Hall,

I hope you do not interpret these comments as a sign of disrespect. I think your opinion is very valuable and more than that, it’s perfectly understandable. It just seems odd to me how quickly people started to express how “tired” they are, as though they’ve been waiting for 8 years to do so. I know you are angry and tired. Judging by the multitude of very colorful and sometimes bigoted comments, your words resonate with others, but is there any chance the source of your anger is a bit off? Just a thought. And speaking of thoughts, I hope you don’t mind a few more…

It is of utmost sadness to me that intelligent people such as yourself can be so misguided and misinformed about cause and effect issues such as the ones you brought up. Then I spend one evening watching Fox news and it all becomes so clear. Oh, just recently, I heard Mr. Hannity spew “if someone dunked my head under water, I’d tell them anything they want to know… I mean the truth, I’d tell them the truth.” He literally catches himself in explaining why the procedure (be it torture or not) cannot possibly yield reliable information, but without skipping a beat goes on to blame liberals – an omnibus group of communist, terrorist-loving, wealth-spreaders - for blocking us from engaging in this technique. Well, it very quickly illuminated the reason why I hear the same shocking rhetoric from intelligent people in the general public.

When you say “I’m tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy or stupid to earn it.” I’m curious which people you are talking about. It appears that since last fall, the wealth is primarily being spread to bankers that continue to use our 401Ks to fund their gambling addiction. And speaking of addiction…

Do you really believe that substance addiction is not a disease? In that case, we ought to let the folks at Betty Ford know they’ve been duped. In fact, there is a whole section in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders that the American Psychiatric Association might need to rethink. Further, I’d be interested in knowing your views on treating lung cancer, emphysema, or stroke patients who have smoked cigarettes since they were 13 years old. You see, blanket statements like that make it seem that you are putting yourself on a pedestal and boy, from way up there it may be difficult to notice that a big chunk of our illness stems from things we do ourselves. So you see I doubt you really feel that way. It does make me feel a bit that maybe you are talking about a very specific group of substance abusers and some people might read into that and interpret it as… well, you know… the thing they call people who pick a group of people not to like based on some superficial characteristic.

And speaking of, I like your endorsement of the quote “a man should be judged by the content of his character, not by the color of his skin.” But when you say “I’m tired of being told that “race doesn’t matter” in the post-racial world of President Obama, when it’s all that matters in affirmative action jobs, lower college admission and graduation standards for minorities (harming them the most)” I wonder who is it that says “race doesn’t matter,” because it certainly isn’t anyone in the current administration. In fact, just recently I heard Fox news take the current attorney general, Eric Holder, to task for saying just the opposite. So here I feel I’m a bit unclear on what you are tired of?

Oh, by the way, the “leftwing millionaires like Michael Moore, George Soros and Hollywood entertainers who live in luxury” and tell you how bad America is also suspiciously do that primarily when reported by Fox News. I actually heard Michael Moore speak at a university. What these people actually suggest when not filtered through an agenda clogged camera lens is that there are people who were in charge that put the country we love in danger over the past 8 years, that they stripped the country we love of its noble status in the world and walked away exponentially richer than when they came in by engaging in actions that were openly criminal i.e. no bid contracts that screwed hard working Americans out of work in favor of corporations of which they used to be CEOs. And while I don’t know whether O’Reilly or Hannity ever engage in hard volunteer work, I’d be interested in comparing how many homes they helped build for anyone ever compared to the work that say, Brad Pitt does… and that guy’s not even political. The point is, they don’t tell you how bad America is. Someone with an agenda does.

When you say, “I’m tired of being told that I have to pay more taxes to keep people in their homes” again I can’t help but wonder which “people” is your anger directed at? Is it directed at the bankers who created mortgages that very narrowly escape fraudulence and who walked away ridiculously rich? Or is your anger directed towards the misguided poorly informed, naive homebuyers who were told by their mortgage brokers not to worry about the adjustment in their contract because they’ll just refinance when the promotional rate is up. You say your condo is paid off so my hope is that your interaction with mortgage brokers is purely recreational, but perhaps you should ask some of these lazy stupid home losers what they were told when they were buying their home. This is not to say that I don’t agree with you about home speculators. Those bastards that for years gambled by buying low and quickly selling high, they should be put in jail as they are shamelessly tearing our country down… wait, am I still talking about mortgages? I also completely agree with you about personal responsibility. There is plenty of blame to go around. I’m just suggesting that if I go to a physician because I feel a lump somewhere, and the doctor says it’s definitely nothing, I’d probably believe him. If the nothing is actually something, I’d blame myself for not making a more thorough investigation, sure. But do you think the physician should continue to practice medicine?

There is so much more but I feel like I am repeating the thoughts of others. The reason I am moved to comment is because there is a strong effort by some in America right now to quickly erase the last 8 years. Your “tired” mission statement certainly does its part when you say that your IRA has dropped since January 20th, giving the impression that last year it was honky dory, when in fact, people saw most of their losses in their year-end statements and not, as you suggest, since Obama became president. And Bush wasn’t being blamed for exercising. It was the giant blunder in every aspect of our lives that he fostered when he wasn’t exercising that people took a bit of an issue with.

  181. Dear Mr. Hall,

Some days ago I received an email from a friend living in the Netherlands. The title was An interesting point of view. The content was the text of your post "I'm tired".
I readed it, and readed it again. I translated it and published it in my own blog. And now I'm writing to congratulate you for it.
My sentiments exactly should I say.
I live in Brazil. My country, and most of Latin America is seized by left wing politicians and intelectuals. Being conservative here is like asking to be insulted.
Our president Lula and his Workers Party administration has been the most corrupt government in the history of Brazil, but because of his left-wing ideology he was protected by the press and media like no one else. The government machine has increased in inimaginable proportions. Our individual rights are decreasing in the same proportions. He sustains his government popularity giving wellfare allowances to the poor, in the most obscene vote-buying operation in the world.
Well, there is lot to tell you about what is going on down here, but there are worse places like Venezuela or Bolivia.
When Obama was elected, I wrote in my blog that at that point, the United States were becoming more and more like a banana republic. Less America, more Latin America.
I lived in Europe too and I saw what the socialist wellfare state is doing to hearts and minds of young people. It seems like they can't think for themselves anymore. Soon Mother Brussels will tell them what to eat, what to read and how they can lace their shoes. Soon they won't be able survive on their own.
And I saw how multiculturalism is killing christian values to transform Europe in a muslim domain.
Europe is commiting a social suicide.
I had a small hope that the same thing wouldn't happen in the US.
Your country used to be a phare to the rest of us. A place where individuals were free to pursue happiness, as its written in your Constitution. Now it seems that American too are waiting for a savior to supply them everything they need. And I'm really sorry that happened.
It seems like anti-americanism, the most stupid form of leftism, has gained ground in your own country. I must tell you that the tiny anti-american feelings I had, if I ever had some, disapeared when I saw the graves of American soldiers in Normandy.
I'm tired too, but I'm 33 now, and I wish I was 63 like you sir. Unfortunately I'm not, and with the true America disapearing, I don't know what kind of world I'll live in, and my children will live in.
Nevertheless I write you today to say that I was really happy to see a true American speaking. Your word is spreading Mr. Hall. Thank you for them.
And I here offer you my humble admiration and friendship.
    Sincerely,

    Fernando Sampaio

  183. Mr Hall,

Your "I'm Tired" soliloquy is being circulated far and wide on the web & by email. Please use your social networking power wisely sir.

I ask you please to consider how much more powerful your message would be if you would have noted a few key thoughts and coupled them with ideas of what can be done to change these things that you are tired of. Perhaps even mentioning a few things that tired people might do to infuse themselves with some energy.

Think of how you might have been able to inspire positive change versus only commisuration.

Wishing you a day of energy,

Put your money where your mouth is and support the people we need in congress to save this great nation from those that want to hurt us from within.Get out and work for them. We have to fight for our freedom from those that wish to take it from you.

  187. Yes! How nice it would be to have more people elected who, like you, have common sense AND are in it to serve not to see what they can get for themselves. How can we hope to have responsible citizens when our elected officials are so irresponsible?
I taught in CA where a very telling conversation while trying to encourage a 5th grade student to complete ANY work ended with his statement: "I won't have to work when I grow up! I'm 5th generation welfare and proud of it!" And just in case you are thinking racial thoughts, this young man was white. What started as a good idea to help those away from extended family make it over a rough patch has become a way of life.
The general lack of faith, not only in our government, but in our electorial process in huge and growing. So many of us doubt the validity of election results. We know how we voted & how most of those we know voted and the comparison to published results is incomprehensible. Election fraud is so wide spread that unrest in the populace is growing at a mind boggling pace. What will that mean not only for us, but for our children & grandchildren?

    ReplyDelete
  188. Oddly many of you who tell him to get out there and change that have probably failed to take a few extera minutes to read his bio, and realized he has done that in his life. First by serving his country as a Marine, then by serving in congress however one man can not do it alone. No man in histroy has made major changes to society alone, even Christ had others helping him along the way.

  189. Mr. Hall,
Obviously, by the amount of circulation and responses you have received - you've touched a nerve. Most of which I am in complete agreement with. The challenge becomes how to channel that energy into real change - You have an audience, the likes of which some only dream about. Now, it is upon your shoulders to engage them into action. I believe you can become the leader of this rag-tag group - it's time to step up.

The ancestors of the people screaming about illegal immigration, they were all perfect, followed all the rules, did what they were told etc. etc.? My ass, they did. This country (the USA) was founded and has thrived because of immigration, legal and otherwise. what amazes me is how well the Republican right, the rich mans party, has co-opted the allegiance of lower middle class Americans, who, in actuality, vote against their own interests! 'Piece a work'!
