Happy Easter--But there's still news, not all peaceful

Bonnie, Bob, Britnye, Dale, Brit's friend Brooklyn, Lupe, Caramel

Happy Easter. Lovely day in Madison. We went to church, including the Easter breakfast to support the youth mission to Alabama, then the family came over for dinner & an egg hunt with the grandson, Dale and two neighbor boys. Pardon my shades--too bright without them. With all, I didn't get enough BiPAP time, so shorter blog post (I use it nights and when I have computer time). ~Bob

General News and Comment

Blue States Bleeding Red. by Matt Walter
Excerpt: Last week, Republicans expanded their majority in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives when 26-year-old Martina White won a special election in the 170th district. Expanding a legislative majority in a state that twice voted for Barack Obama is significant on its own, but expanding it because of the support of a unique coalition of Republican and traditionally Democratic-leading voters in a district in Philadelphia, a city where Republicans have not won an open General Assembly seat in 25 years, is extraordinary. The Republican wave did not end in November 2014, and White is just the latest Republican to win in Democratic territory this year.

Liberals May Regret Their New Rules. By Kurt Schlichter
Excerpt: That photo is me about ten years ago, standing in the ruins of a land where people rejected the rule of law in favor of the rule of force. I think a lot about my year-long deployment to Kosovo these days. I think a lot about people today who, for short term political points, cavalierly disregard the rules, laws and norms that made America what it is. I think a lot about how liberals, especially those who boo God, should pray to Him that those rules, laws and norms are restored.

Excerpt: In case you haven’t noticed, ICE under President Precious has essentially abandoned immigration enforcement, and instead has thrown open the nation’s borders to undocumented invaders from Latin America and the Middle East. But real Americans . . . now we’re a different story: Privacy advocates who reviewed a copy of the privacy impact assessment said it fell short. “If this goes forward, DHS will have warrantless access to location information going back at least five years about virtually every adult driver in the U.S., and sometimes to their image as well,” said Gregory T. Nojeim, senior counsel for the Center for Democracy & Technology.

White House Blames Horrible Jobs Report On The Weather [VIDEO]
Excerpt: In an interview with MSNBC’s “Rundown w/ Jose Diaz-Balart,” Jason Furman – chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisors — blamed the horrible March jobs report on bad weather. Guest host Craig Melvin noted that March’s jobs report showed “the weakest job growth since 2013. Employers added some 126,000 jobs, less than half the number of gains that were expected. The unemployment rate remains steady at 5.5%… (If less than half of gains in job growth expected, how can unemployment remain "steady"? Books cooked. Many have given up as those on the dole increase. --Barb. Yes, this is even with millions having given up and left the workforce on Obama's watch. ~Bob)

The Entire White House Press Corps Just Dropped a Bombshell About Obama
Excerpt: The air is thick with frustration among the ranks of the White House press corps — a group of type-A reporters who follow President Barack Obama and his administration to report their doings to the citizens of the United States. Having said that, due to the fact that a majority of media outlets, including newspapers, lean to the left — there must really be some seriously bad juju between the Obama and the press corps if the latter group has taken to voicing public dissatisfaction. The White House Correspondents’ Association has crafted a list of demands to be sent to the White House. This came on the heels of an incident last week in Salt Lake City that had press corps reporters highly upset. Apparently, as Obama traveled to Salt Lake City to speak with a group of Mormon leaders, White House press corps members were denied access. (Believe it when I see it. I doubt they have the nerve. ~Bob)

Good Story: What The Recruit Said His Father Said And What The Recruit's Father Actually Said. By Andy Weddington
Excerpt: "Sir, this recruit does not want to be here. This recruit does not want to be a Marine. This recruit's father told him that if he got to Parris Island and found it was not for him that he could come home." (I cannot imagine saying that to anyone of my DIs. I doubt that I would have lived to meet the Series Commander. And though my Dad was Navy, he warned me--plus I wanted to be a Marine. ~Bob)

Gun News

Concealed Carrier Shoots Car Thief Who Sped Away With Victim On The Hood [VIDEO]. By Chuck Ross
Excerpt: The woman was reportedly screaming for help as the suspect sped past several bystanders, including an off-duty Smyrna city worker. Luckily, that man, who is also captured on camera, was carrying a concealed gun at the time. He chased after the Honda and fired through the window, hitting the suspect in the shoulder.

Greg Gutfeld: Gun Control is Losing Because Americans Refuse to Feel Guilty Over Self-Defense. By Awr Hawkins.
Excerpt: Gutfeld said, “No matter how hard the establishment media tries, they can’t convince good people how bad guns are when they’re in the right hands.”
He then explained that the American people, while supportive of the police, have simply come to realize that there are long seconds–and frequently, agonizing minutes–between the time they dial 911 and the time police arrive. (See article above. ~Bob)

A Solid Majority Of African-Americans Support Gun Ownership. By Matt Vespa
Excerpt: There are studies that show an increase in concealed carry permits reduces crime. Illinois was the last state to grant concealed carry permits to their residents. It resulted in the lowest murder rate in 56 years.

I'd much rather go to my grave never needing my gun than go there wishing I had it.

Worth Reading: A New Chapter in the Sunni-Shiite War. By Jonathan Spyer, The Jerusalem Post
Excerpt: The assembling of a Sunni coalition to challenge the advance of an Iranian proxy in Yemen, and the subsequent announcement in Sharm al-Sheikh of the formation of a 40,000 strong Arab rapid reaction force are the latest moves in a war which has already been under way in the Middle East for some time. This is a war between Sunni and Shia forces over the ruins of the regional order. It is a war which is unlikely to end in the wholesale victory of one or another of the sides. Rather, it will end when the two forces exhaust themselves. What the region will look like when this storm passes is anyone's guess.

WH Statement on Kenya Terror Attack Fails to Mention Christians Were Singled Out. Leah Barkoukis
Excerpt: Early Thursday morning an unspeakable tragedy struck Kenya when Somali terrorist group al-Shabab stormed Garissa University College, killing nearly 150 people. More specifically, however, militants from the al-Qaeda franchise went dorm to dorm separating Christian from Muslim students, killing the Christians.

Excerpt: The son of a Kenyan government official has been identified as one of the gunmen who attacked a Kenyan college where 148 people were killed, authorities said Sunday. Abdirahim Mohammed Abdullahi, one of the Islamic extremists who attacked Garissa University College, was the son of a government chief in Mandera County, Interior Ministry spokesman Mwenda Njoka told The Associated Press.

Pope Prays for Slain Kenyan Students, Decries Persecution in Easter Address
Excerpt: Pope Francis prayed for an end to the persecution of Christians in his Easter Sunday address, commemorating the students massacred by Islamist militants at Garissa University in Kenya. ... "We ask Jesus, the victor over death, to lighten the sufferings of our many brothers and sisters who are persecuted for his name, and of all those who suffer injustice as a result of ongoing conflicts and violence - and there are many," he said.

Unbelievable: Kerry exposes Iranian family tie — and subjects family to blackmail. By Kenneth Timmerman
Excerpt: In a greeting to the Iranian people on the occasion of the traditional New Year (Nowruz) holiday last week, Secretary of State John Kerry exposed a secret that journalists and academics have been agonizing over for the past six weeks: the fact that his daughter has married an Iranian-American who has extensive family ties to Iran. “I am proud of the Iranian-Americans in my own family, and grateful for how they have enriched my life,” Kerry said in the official statement. Kerry also said he was “strongly committed to resolving” the differences between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, “to the mutual benefit of both of our people.”

Excerpt: But the first thing to know about the highly hyped “historic achievement” that President Obama is trying to sell is that there has been no agreement on any of the fundamental issues that led to international concern about Iran’s secret nuclear activities and led to six mandatory resolutions by the United Nations Security Council and 13 years of diplomatic seesaw. All we have is a number of contradictory statements by various participants in the latest round of talks in Switzerland, which together amount to a diplomatic dog's dinner.

Empty words from empty suit: Obama: 'Iran Will Never Be Permitted To Develop A Nuclear Weapon'
President Obama vowed that “Iran will never be permitted to develop a nuclear weapon” as a member of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty during Saturday's Weekly Address. (Your insurance is going to decrease $2,500." "You will get to keep your insurance plan and your doctor." "The most transparent presidency ever." What's the Muslim term for it's okay to lie to the non-Muslims if it furthers the cause of the Caliphate? --Barb. Taqiyya. Don't forget "I'm opposed to same sex marriage." ~Bob)

We will know who to blame: Obama, Clinton, Kerry and how Iran shapes legacies and political futures
Excerpt: It is perhaps only an accident of history that three of the key actors in the diplomatic efforts to deny Iran a nuclear bomb are the 2004, 2008, 2012 and probable 2016 Democratic presidential nominees. But their intertwined ambitions provide a dramatic backdrop to the unfolding and unfinished story. (we'll know who to blame when a nuke destroys New York City--not that it will matter as our finances and economy explodes and the country collapses into chaos. ~Bob)

Husband of NY jihad plotter “shocked,” but had black flag of jihad at Muslim Day Parade. By Robert Spencer,
Excerpt: Says Abu Bakr of his wife’s arrest on jihad terror charges: “I don’t believe any of it, period. We are all shocked, the whole community. That’s not who she is.” But back in 2007, Abu Bakr was photographed at the Muslim Day Parade in New York City with the black flag of jihad. He carried it at other parades as well.

Who done it? Six terror arrests at Dover port
Excerpt: Six people have been arrested in Dover on suspicion of Syria-related terrorism offences, says West Midlands Police. (Doesn't give their names or religion or ethnicity, so I assume they were Scots Presbyterians crying, "No bishops!" ~Bob)

The Arab Spring: The Middle East: In the Shadow of the Gunmen. By Jonathan Spyer
Excerpt: Post "Arab Spring," the Middle East is in chaos. And ready to be devoured by the mullahs of Iran. In a process of profound importance, five Arab states in the Middle East have effectively ceased to exist over the last decade. The five states in question are Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and Libya. It is possible that more will follow. (Remember when the liberal media, Obama and progressive politicians were all swooning over how wonderful the Arab Spring was? Good times, huh? I wrote on this blog on 2/26/13: "Ah, the modern, democratic Arab Spring, beloved by progressives in the media and government. What cold go wrong?" ~Bob)

People Yes, Pork No: Al-Azhar textbook: Eating dead Jews, Christians and infidels ‘halal’ if necessary. By Al-Masry Al-Youm, Egypt Independent
Excerpt: Religious jurisprudence textbooks for Al-Azhar students address, among other things, the issue of eating dead human beings, quoting Mansour bin Yunus al-Bahuti, a scholar of the Hanbali school of jurisprudence who died 500 years ago, as saying that eating dead Jews, Christians and non-believers is halal (permissible by Islam) if it is a necessity, but non-Muslims are not to eat dead Muslims, even out of necessity. Another textbook quotes Imam al-Sherbini of the Shafi school of jurisprudence as saying that dead prophets of any religion should not be eaten. And when he was told that prophets do not die and that they lie alive praying in their graves according to the Hadith, he said that he meant if they were found dead before they were buried. He also clarified that the meat of dead Jews, Christians and infidels should be eaten raw, not cooked or grilled. ... The book permits eating a giraffe and forbids eating pork. (Obama: Al-Azhar University renowned as “Sunni Islam’s most prestigious university.” ~Bob)
