California Lawmaker Who Killed Gig Jobs Wants State to 'Train' Freelance 'Adult' Workers
Excerpt: Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez (D-AFL-CIO), is now pushing a bill that would, as Reason reports "...require adult entertainers and video performers, including webcam performers, to obtain a business license and complete a state-mandated training course before being allowed to ply their trade." "Training"? This gives new meaning to the term government over-reach. [Has it ever occurred to anyone in California government that movie and web businesses can operate just as conveniently from 48 other states that ALL have internet? (I’m not counting Alaska, it’s too cold most of the year) Most of those other states don’t have California’s taxes either, and have cheaper housing and better schools and roads. Unfortunately, California is serious. Shouldn't we unionize the hookers, too? Ron P.]
