Happy Earth Day: Earth Day Co-Founder Killed, Composted Girlfriend
Excerpt: Ira Einhorn was on stage hosting the first Earth Day event at the Fairmount Park in Philadelphia on April 22, 1970. Seven years later, police raided his closet and found the "composted" body of his ex-girlfriend inside a trunk.

Worth Seeing: Cruz Campaign Satirizes Clinton 'War Room,' Abedin In Web Video: "How Do We Stop Ted Cruz?"
Excerpt: The Ted Cruz presidential campaign released a mock film of the Hillary Clinton campaign war room featured the presidential candidate, Huma Abedin, and other advisors. The clip decides how Clinton would take on Trump, using opposition research and government organizations such as the IRS to attack him.

Trump

Humor: Dr. Seuss Trump Book

Taking Trump Seriously On NATO: He has policies, or suggestions of policies. What would happen if they were put into practice? By TOD LINDBERG
Excerpt: For his part, Donald Trump has called NATO “obsolete,” citing its Cold War origins and a primary security threat that now comes from radical Islam. He has said NATO costs the United States “billions” and that allies don’t contribute a fair share—a point he has also made about our Asian alliance relationships. Two generations ago, when we were a rich country, it might have made sense for the United States to subsidize the security of others countries, he has said, but not now that America is poor. He also seems to question the value of what the United States is committed to defend: After the recent terrorist attack there, he remarked that Brussels has become a “hellhole.” Trump has also expressed admiration for Russian President Vladimir Putin, and while he seems to find Russia’s military intervention in Ukraine regrettable, what seems to irk him still more is that the United States rather than our European allies, in his view, has shouldered the lion’s share of the burden of responding to it. Each of his substantive points is readily rebuttable.

Excerpt: Trump’s massive strength should also come as no surprise. He has always been doing better in states with large numbers of non-religious and Catholic voters, and New York’s GOP electorate have large shares of both. He also does much better with moderates and somewhat conservatives than with very conservative Republicans, and New York’s Republicans are decidedly to the left of the national party. Simple demographic analysis would always have suggested he would win with well over 40 percent of the vote; add in the home state advantage and you get the landslide margins that are about to unfold. (But this means a week from now, Trump might be having an even better night, winning big in a bunch of demographically similar states where rivals won’t be able to hand-wave it away as a reflection of a home-state advantage. In Connecticut, it’s easy to see him winning 20something out of the 28 delegates. In Maryland, maybe Kasich competes well in the D.C. suburbs, maybe not. It certainly doesn’t seem like natural Cruz territory. But give Trump another 20something out of 32. There’s no polling in Delaware, which is winner-take-all; let’s assume Trump wins that and takes all 16. In Rhode Island, the rules are particularly complicated because the state’s delegates are “proportionally bound” to the finishes in the congressional districts (the state only has two) and statewide. Unless someone wins big (more than two-thirds of the vote) or abysmal (less than 10 percent) the three delegates that are apportioned to finish in each congressional district are going to split 1-1-1. Out of the 19, let’s say Trump gets 15 at most, maybe fewer. --Jim Geraghty, Morning Jolt)

Worth Reading: What's Wrong with America. By Jim Geraghty, Morning Jolt
Excerpt: In these cases, the conservative movement, the Republican party, and most of the American people have a ballpark sense of what the solution is. -Cops need to be able to do their jobs and get violent criminals off the streets, without fear that their actions will be misinterpreted and twisted by demagogues to start a riot. -Those crossing the U.S. border illegally need to be caught, prosecuted, and deported -- particularly those involved in non-immigration crimes. -The U.S. military needs to be larger, stronger, and more technologically advanced, our allies need to be reassured, and our hostile rivals need a bit of a brush-back pitch to remind them of the consequences of provoking the United States or threatening our people. -Universities and colleges need to stop thinking that their job is to fundamentally transform American society and its values and get back to the basic job of preparing young people to work for a living. (Maybe every college student should study abroad, somewhere in the Third World, to ensure they return with a newfound appreciation for America’s blessings.) Law and order, a return to a strong, confident approach to threats, a complete dismissal of the dictates of political correctness -- the good news is these are all elements of the Trump campaign. If he wasn’t an incoherent populist authoritarian demagogue, it would be a lot easier to jump on the bandwagon. The problem is that Trump is such a crass, deliberately-obnoxious, incendiary, policy-detail-ignorant, thin-skinned, women-repellent misogynist that he’s going to taint these positions by associating himself with them. Worth Reading: Nothing Changed Yesterday—And Trump Is Still Not on the Path to Nomination. By Jeremy Carl
Excerpt: But despite his victory, Trump got only a very modest bump from New York last night. And despite the breathless TV and print commentary from our New York–centered media, he still faces huge obstacles if he wants to get a sufficient number of delegates to be nominated on the first ballot. And if he is not nominated on the first ballot, given Cruz’s wildly successful delegate strategy, it is unlikely he will be nominated at all. In fact, according to the analysis of the widely-respected 538.com, Trump actually fell just short of the number of delegates he needed in New York to put himself on the path to the magic number of 1,237. And, though he should have a good week next week when Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island vote, he will need a New York–level performance, not just a victory, if he wants to substantially improve his nomination odds. New York and the five states voting next Tuesday are all part of the Democrats’ “blue wall.” Democrats have won all of these states in each of the last six elections. Only one of these states (Pennsylvania) has given more than 45 percent of its vote to the GOP candidate in any of the last six elections. New York and Rhode Island have never even given 40 percent to GOP candidates during this time.

Worth Reading: Trump is Going to Have Some Big Wins Soon. And He Can Still Be Stopped. By Erick Erickson
Excerpt: Ted Cruz got more votes in Wisconsin than Donald Trump got in New York. But Trump got more delegates in New York because, in Donald Trump’s words, the system is rigged. But the system is the system and the rules haven’t changed. But some in the GOP are starting to think they need to come to terms with Trump. He has brought in K Street, the most easily purchased part of the GOP, because K Street knows it cannot buy off Ted Cruz. The rest of the GOP should stand strong, even though Trump is about to get some more wins. Trump is going to do very well in New England — a particular bit of the country that he has no shot at winning in November and is least typical of the GOP. Republicans should think long and hard about handing their party over to a man who can win the corrupt infrastructure of the GOP in New York, but cannot win in Wisconsin.

Worth reading: Trump’s Handlers Want Us To Believe We Haven’t Seen the Real Trump. By Erick Erickson
Excerpt: Charlie Black, uber establishment Republican, is coordinating John Kasich’s campaign while his partner Paul Manafort is now handling Donald Trump. The fix, more and more, appears to be in that Trump, should he get the Republican nomination, is going to throw his supporters under the bus. He is increasingly allied with the D.C. elite.

‘Donald Trump WON’T take on the PC police!’ – Cruz ad nails the Donald on NC law`

WaPo Editorial: Don’t be fooled by the ‘new’ Donald Trump
Excerpt: DO YOU remember when Donald Trump crudely mocked the disability of a New York Times reporter, and then lied about having done so? No? That’s just as the Republican candidate might hope. Now that he is nearing the Republican nomination, he says he will become more “presidential.” After winning the New York primary, he referred to “Senator Cruz” instead of “Lyin’ Ted.” You can expect multitudes of office-seekers and sycophants to follow Chris Christie’s craven path to believing, or pretending to believe, in a presidential Trump.

Hillary

Worth Reading: After Eight Years of Obama, America Needs Someone Better than Trump or Clinton. By Jim Geraghty

Excerpt: Peter Hart, the Democratic pollster who helps conduct the Wall Street Journal’s running surveys, offered a stark assessment this week: “America is on the path to electing the most unpopular president since 1948.” He’s not wrong. 56 percent of registered voters see Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton negatively. That makes her the second least popular candidate left running for the highest office in the land. Luckily for Democrats, the least popular candidate is the Republican front-runner, Donald Trump, viewed negatively by 65 percent of respondents.

Clinton gave paid speeches to firms that lobbied, contracted with government
Excerpt: The AP's review of federal records, regulatory filings and correspondence showed that almost all the 82 corporations, trade associations and other groups that paid for or sponsored Clinton's speeches have actively sought to sway the government — lobbying, bidding for contracts, commenting on federal policy and in some cases contacting State Department officials or Clinton herself during her tenure as secretary of state.  Presidents are not generally bound by many of the ethics and conflict-of-interest regulations that apply to non-elected executive branch officials, although they are subject to laws covering related conduct, such as bribery and illegal gratuities. Clinton's 94 paid appearances over two years on the speech circuit leave her open to scrutiny over decisions she would make in the White House or influence that may affect the interests of her speech sponsors.

Sanders

After New York comes the question: What does Bernie want?
Excerpt: Hillary Clinton’s victory in the New York primary Tuesday has brought Sen. Bernie Sanders one step closer to a series of difficult decisions that can be summed up in one simple question: What does Bernie want? How he answers that question will have a direct bearing on how united Democrats will be heading into the fall campaign — and whether Sanders will be able to leverage his success this year into lasting power and influence.

Worth Reading: Harriet Tubman to appear on $20 bill, while Alexander Hamilton remains on $10 bill
I wonder if Democrats will stop having annual Jefferson-Jackson Day dinners and now have Jefferson-Tubman Day dinners? As an American Patriot whose great, great grandfather fought for the North (he was at Battery Wagner, would likely have seen Tubman there), I am in favor of replacing the Democrat, slave-owner Jackson with the Abolitionist Tubman. Abolition was, of course, highly correlated with the Republican party in the mind of Southern Democrats. From the South Carolina declaration of Succession: "We affirm that these ends for which this Government was instituted have been defeated, and the Government itself has been made destructive of them by the action of the non-slaveholding States. Those States have assume the right of deciding upon the propriety of our domestic institutions; and have denied the rights of property established in fifteen of the States and recognized by the Constitution; they have denounced as sinful the institution of slavery; they have permitted open establishment among them of societies, whose avowed object is to disturb the peace and to eloign the property of the citizens of other States. They have encouraged and assisted thousands of our slaves to leave their homes; and those who remain, have been incited by emissaries, books and pictures to servile insurrection. For twenty-five years this agitation has been steadily increasing, until it has now secured to its aid the power of the common Government. Observing the forms of the Constitution, a sectional party has found within that Article establishing the Executive Department, the means of subverting the Constitution itself. A geographical line has been drawn across the Union, and all the States north of that line have united in the election of a man to the high office of President of the United States, whose opinions and purposes are hostile to slavery. He is to be entrusted with the administration of the common Government, because he has declared that that "Government cannot endure permanently half slave, half free," and that the public mind must rest in the belief that slavery is in the course of ultimate extinction." Obama administration says pro-gun Republican Harriet Tubman to grace the $20 bill
Excerpt: In a sense of political correctness turned political irony, the abolitionist and underground railroad conductor will replace Democrat President Andrew Jackson. On Wednesday the U.S. Treasury reported that Tubman, who during the Civil War was active in the Union cause, serving as a nurse, a cook, spy and scout, will replace Jackson on the front of the bill. The seventh President, whose supporters founded what became the Democratic Party, will move to the back of the bill along with an image of the White House.

Pearls of Wisdom

Excerpt: “Harriett Tubman was a Republican because back then the Republican Party was the party anti-slavery, and nothing ever changed other than the Democrats co-opted it. Democrats have always been the party of slavery. They were always the party of Jim Crow, the party of segregation.” (Now to stay on the plantation, you get a free Obamaphone for tracking/management, SNAP credits, free electricity, free diapers, free Rx, help with rent....and you can be hired to protest.  Don't worry about the bucks stopping. --Barb)

Math is Hard: UnitedHealth Group to exit Obamacare exchanges in all but a ‘handful’ of states
Excerpt: UnitedHealth Group, the nation's largest health insurer, said Tuesday that in 2017 it will exit most of the 34 states where it offers plans on the Affordable Care Act insurance exchanges. "We will be down to a handful of states that we will be actively participating in the exchanges," Stephen J. Hemsley, chief executive officer of UnitedHealth Group said in an earnings call, noting that the small market size and greater expense of patients insured through the marketplaces led the insurer to make the decision. UnitedHealth plans to withdraw from health insurance marketplaces in Arkansas, MichiganConnecticut and parts of Georgia. The decision is a sequel to an announcement by executives late last year that the insurer had suffered financial losses and might leave the health exchanges altogether in 2017. UnitedHealth reported that it expects to lose $650 million in the exchanges in 2016. (Only7 progressives could believe that you could pass a law that would allow everyone to keep this plans and doctors, cover millions more people with no increase in doctors or hospitals, and lower costs, reducing everyone's premium by $2500 a year. (My wife's jumped $1100/year last December). In a perfect world, no one who couldn't pass a simple test on basic economics would be allowed to vote or hold office. ~Bob)

Overstretched U.S. Army Gets Only Two Days Worth Of Federal Spending In 2017 For New Weapons - Forbes
Excerpt: What’s wrong with this picture?  The U.S. Army is being stretched thin responding to growing threats in Eastern Europe, Iraq, North Korea and elsewhere.  Meanwhile, the number of soldiers continues to decline to the lowest level in recent memory, and the funding available for buying weapons next year is expected to total only two days worth of federal spending — in other words, about one-half of 1% of the federal budget. (Okay, but it's not really as bad as it sounds.  We used to have, between the Army, the National Guard, and the Reserve, arms enough for about 30 divisions plus floats.  We still have most of those, enough tanks for 20 or so heavy divisions, for example.  Congress is having to force the Army to, for example, keep open the Lima Tank Plant because the Army just doesn't need more tanks.  I'm a lot more concerned with our dying infrastructure than with arms purchases, per se.  I don't think we could make enough damned boots, here at home, for a large army any more, just for one example.  --LtCol Tom Kratman, USA (Ret). Is that counting red high heels as boots, Sir? ~Bob)

Worth Reading: The next three months will be awful for Republicans — and good for Democrats. By Paul Waldman
Excerpt: Three months from now, on July 18, the Republican Party will open its convention in Cleveland, to be followed a week later by the Democratic convention in Philadelphia. A lot is going to happen in those three months. But it’s not too early to predict that most of it is going to be good for the Democrats and bad for the Republicans. At this point in the campaign, both parties have a straightforward, though by no means easy, set of tasks. They each want to get their nomination settled, unify and motivate their own voters, and start making their case to the broader electorate that will vote in the general election. Democrats will have an easier time on all counts.

Fast-Forwarding Military Decline. By Jude Eden
Excerpt: As a Marine veteran and close follower of the developments on women’s integration into the combat arms, I’ve noticed that women saying they want to join the infantry do so for all sorts of reasons: to make history, break barriers, challenge themselves, prove something, carry on family tradition. With the women’s combat exemption now repealed, the media fawns on the first females going for combat roles as history-makers, even before they’ve finished — or even started — boot camp or officer candidate school. Notably missing from the young women’s motivations is anything about killing the enemy, the raison d’ĂȘtre of the combat arms. (Sadly, that logical and factual arguments can and do shred the whole nonsense about women in the grunts, this will go on until it's stopped by some leaders with actual nerve and sense.  We have 8 more months of this, during which Mabus will do as much damage to the Marines, and others like him to the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard, as they possibly can arrange.  I figure that more and more people will opt out when the chance comes, and the recruiters will have a much harder job getting any motivated young men to sign up until this is reversed.  I sure would not join our military at this point, nor recommend to any young man to do so.  Maybe not any young woman either. --Del. Reminds me of the old joke. This sexy young thing comes in and tells the Marine Recruiter she wants to join the infantry. "Do you think you could kill a man?" he growls. "Oh yes...but it would take me most of the night." ~Bob)

Obama Administration Tells Supreme Court 'Lawfully' Doesn't Mean 'Legally'
Excerpt: "Lawfully" does not mean "legally." Welcome to what Solicitor General Donald Verrilli told the Supreme Court on Monday is the "immigration world." Or, more accurately, welcome to the new world President Barack Obama -- through his solicitor -- is asking the Supreme Court to join him in declaring. It is a world that contradicts the law of noncontradiction. It is a place where something can be and not be at the same time. It is a place of illogic -- and lawlessness. The Supreme Court heard oral arguments  Monday in U.S. v. Texas. This case pits 26 states against the Obama administration on the question of whether the Executive Branch -- n.b. the president through a bureaucratic subordinate -- can unilaterally declare that more than four million foreign nationals who are illegally in the United States may stay here, work here and acquire eligibility for Social Security, disability and Medicare.

Ben Carson's Bad Idea. By Bruce Walker
Excerpt: Many conservatives, including me, thought nothing but the best about Dr. Ben Carson's run for the White House...until now.  Recently, Dr. Carson has suggested that we need to get rid of the Electoral College because it disregards the "will of the people."  Underlying this proposal is the idea that pure, national democracy is the best form of government. Dr. Carson displayed shocking ignorance of American history when he told Fox News: "When the Electoral College was put in place, a lot of people did not know what was going on.  They had no idea who was running or what the situation was.  That has changed significantly."  The good doctor is wrong on every count. The purpose of the Electoral College was as much to preserve the power of the sovereign states from the national government as anything else. (No one was excluded from these processes except those who were either ignorant or apathetic or both?  Arguing that this defied the "will of the people" sounds like what Democrats argued when their presidential candidates lost elections which polls showed them winning. --Steve. Without the electoral college, we still wouldn't know who won in 1960. Nixon was gaining in the limited IL recount. Without it, a corrupt city machine--say, oh, Chicago, could control the whole country, while now it only controls the votes of one state. [In 2004, Milwaukee Country reported 5,00 more votes than there were voters. Kerry carried the state by 14,000. This was discovered by the left of center Milwaukee paper five months after the election. Without the EC, no small state would see a candidate again. ~Bob)

Worth reading: This election is an unpopularity contest for the ages
Excerpt: The 2016 presidential election is shaping up as an unpopularity contest of unprecedented proportions. Assuming, as now appears most likely, that Hillary Clinton will win the Democratic nomination and that either Donald Trump or Ted Cruz becomes the Republican nominee, the general-election ballot is set to feature a choice between two candidates more negatively viewed than any major-party nominee in the history of polling. Trump is, by far, the furthest underwater: The latest Wall Street Journal-NBC poll puts his net favorability rating at minus-41. A breathtaking 65 percent of registered voters see him negatively, versus 24 percent with a positive view, making him the most unpopular major party presidential candidate ever recorded. ... Some historical perspective: All three candidates are more unpopular than the losing presidential candidate at any point during the past five election cycles, according to Gallup data.

Top 5 Reasons Congress Should Reject Obama’s Climate Change Treaty. By Nicolas Loris
Excerpt: Secretary of State John Kerry will join leaders from around the world to sign the Paris Protocol global warming agreement this Friday at the United Nations headquarters.
Here are the top five reasons Congress and the next administration should withdraw from the accord: (All the money authorization power lies with the House of Representatives.  What they need to do is start defunding federal programs that Obama depends on to spend the hundreds of millions of dollars he uses for his pet projects.  All the talk and posturing in the world has zero effect in the end, actions speak much louder than words.  So far the GOP guys in charge have not even touched on the idea of withdrawing funding, they don't want to get into that fight.  But with no fighting back, the bully always gets his way.  I don't know what it will take for things to get any better, but until we have some leadership in the House with courage and determination, nothing much will get any better at all. --Del. Problem is, Obama vetoes any budget he doesn't like. The media then convince the public that the Republicans shut down the government (when either side could have kept it open by caving), and more liberal Democrats get elected. ~Bob)

Green Scammer: Judge issues arrest warrant for Ron Van Den Heuvel
Excerpt: A Brown County judge issued an arrest warrant Wednesday for a De Pere businessman whose green technology company owes the state’s job creation agency more than $1.2 million. The arrest warrant for Ronald Van Den Heuvel is related to a lawsuit to which the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. is a party. It comes a day after Van Den Heuvel was indicted on unrelated federal bank fraud charges.

Worth Reading: The Conservative Pope and the Reformation. By Erick Erickson
Excerpt: William F. Buckley became the standard bearer for conservatism. If he said something was conservative, the odds are that it was. And if he said some thing, some idea, or some group was not part of the conservative movement, people listened.
With him gone, we are seeing the shadows creep back in from Mordor that we thought had been permanent exiled. The alt-right white nationalists are on the prowl.
In turn, we are seeing a lot of clear voices that once were flag planters for conservatism turn out to be for sale to the highest bidder. But this, I think, is not new. (Erickson has been in hospital with pulmonary hypertension, so I was glad to see his column Thursday morning. ~Bob)

Worth Reading: The Horrors of Hiroshima in Context. By Victor Davis Hanson
Excerpt: The horrific bombings are inexplicable without examining the context in which they occurred. In 1943, President Franklin Roosevelt and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill insisted on the unconditional surrender of Axis aggressors. The bomb was originally envisioned as a way to force the Axis leader, Nazi Germany, to cease fighting. But the Third Reich had already collapsed by July 1945 when the bomb was ready for use, leaving Imperial Japan as the sole surviving Axis target. Japan had just demonstrated with its nihilistic defense of Okinawa — where more than 12,000 Americans died and more than 50,000 were wounded, along with perhaps 200,000 Japanese military and civilian casualties — that it could make the Americans pay so high a price for victory that they might negotiate an armistice rather than demand surrender. Tens of thousands of Americans had already died in taking the Pacific islands as a way to get close enough to bomb Japan. On March 9-10, 1945, B-29 bombers dropped an estimated 1,665 tons of napalm on Tokyo, causing at least as many deaths as later at Hiroshima. Over the next three months, American attacks leveled huge swaths of urban Japan. U.S. planes dropped about 60 million leaflets on Japanese cities, telling citizens to evacuate and to call upon their leaders to cease the war. Japan still refused to surrender and upped its resistance with thousands of Kamikaze airstrikes. By the time of the atomic bombings, the U.S. Air Force was planning to transfer from Europe much of the idle British and American bombing fleet to join the B-29s in the Pacific.

From the Halls of Montezuma to the Shores of Gender Neutrality. By Ray Starmann
Excerpt: The Marines are facing their greatest fight; the battle to implement the lunatic gender neutral policies ordered by the Secretary of Defense and his willing executioner, Secretary of the Navy, Ray Mabus. There is no doubt that Ray Mabus is going down in history as the worst Secretary of Navy in the long annals of the Marine Corps. Mabus is a disaster for the Marine Corps; a ready-made, machine fabricated, glow in the dark nightmare. (We can only pray that next January there will be someone of a different mentality in the Oval Office, and the PC insanity will start to recede.  Our military can be rebuilt, but the first start on it would be to reverse this unholy fanatic drive to put women into frontline units.  That politicians and feminist activists can believe that male and female bodies are interchangeable in every situation while the Olympics and professional sports all show us very clearly that they are not is one of those truly mind-blowing bits of idiocy that is hard to comprehend at all.  But it clearly isn't stopping the fanatics and nutcases.  I fear if this isn't stopped the price in blood will be awful at some point in the future. Excerpt: China has allegedly tested a weapon of mass destruction capable of hitting London and other major European or American cities in just 30 minutes. “The People's Republic reportedly fired a nuke called the Dongfeng-41, which has the longest range of any missile in the world. “It can carry up to 10 warheads over a distance of roughly 7,450 miles in just half an hour before hitting several targets at once.

Israeli Military Theorist: Female IDF Combat Troops Are Inferior. By Jonah Bennett
Excerpt: Israeli military theorist Martin van Creveld pointed out in a recent blog post that although women in the Israel Defense Force (IDF) are lauded as prime, successful examples of females in combat, the reality is they lower the prestige of the military, are physically inferior, and deploy in the easiest of roles. The IDF, according to van Creveld, is the only military in the world to conscript women and has long integrated them into combat roles, following the importation of American feminism to Israel in the 1980s. Currently, the active-duty force is about 30 percent female, or 58,000, and the number of fighters stands at around 1,593, which means less than 3 percent actually serve in combat units. But not all combat units are equal, van Creveld said, and the inclusion of women has serious repercussions for the force as a whole. (Oh dear, another article about the actual facts and experiences of women in the military.  Not that anyone in the government will pay the tiniest bit of attention to it. --Del)

Excerpt: hat are political conventions for? If you’ve ever been to one, you might think the purpose is for attendees to schmooze, drink, and drink some more. That holds true both for the delegates and for the journalists, who usually outnumber them by at least three to one. But that’s not actually why political conventions exist. They’re sort of like volunteer fire departments that almost never get a call. It’s not that the firefighters don’t want to put out fires, but until they’re needed, they’re pretty happy to play cards, watch movies, and eat chili. They understand that when the call actually comes, the game ends, the TV goes off, and the boots go on.

Russ Feingold goes Hollywood in latest campaign haul. By M.D. Kittle
Excerpt: The California kid, Russ Feingold, D-Middleton (and California), raked in more than $31,000 in campaign donations from Tinseltown and the broader entertainment community in the first quarter of 2016, according to the  April Federal Election Commission report. While the liberal U.S. Senate candidate and his supporters castigate incumbent conservative Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Oshkosh, for taking in money from big business and Super PACs, Feingold continues to move farther away from his long-ago pledge to reject out-of-state money.

Liberty at Risk. By Arnold Ahlert
Excerpt: The American Left’s desire to crush Liberty and dissent in order to “fundamentally transform the United States of America” has reached metastatic levels. In the last three weeks alone, the following stories have surfaced. All of which indicate we are well on our way toward relinquishing our birthright. Even worse, millions of Americans are apparently more than willing to do so. First, this week the Supreme Court heard arguments in the United States v. Texas case that will determine whether a president can unilaterally rewrite immigration law. If SCOTUS rules in Barack Obama’s favor, the separation of powers outlined in the first three articles of the Constitution will be rendered moot and, as political analyst Charles Krauthammer wryly observed, “you can send Congress home.” And the Left is not content to stop there. A coalition of 118 cities and counties have filed a legal brief asserting they will lose up to $800 million in economic benefits if large numbers of illegal aliens remain subject to deportation.

Obama’s White House Turns Defense Policy Upside Down
Excerpt: How would it be if John F. Kennedy, or his advisors, had decided that the interests of global order were better served by dismissing photographic evidence of Soviet missile emplacements on the island of Cuba — and had made that dismissal the starting-point of a U.S. policy? It would be something like the way defense policy is handled in Barack Obama’s administration....Nowadays, however, the president and his predilections come first, while the facts are made to follow. The next president will be walking into the same situation. But at the core of this phenomenon is the question of intensity. Trump’s supporters are passionately devoted to him, but the same bombastic and controversial style turns off voters who are not inclined to be fans. Cruz is deemed unlikable even by many GOP politicians, including those like Lindsey Graham who are holding their nose to support him. Clinton has an army of loyalists, including older women, but arouses intense opposition among Sanders fans, not to mention Republicans who focus on her email scandal. What counts is generating enough excitement so that your voters turn out, even if that spawns opposition among many other voters—some of whom may just stay home.

Excerpt: One word that’s really getting a workout this cycle is “loophole.” Basically, all of life is a giant loophole until Democrats come up with a way to regulate or tax it. In its economic usage, “loophole” — probably more of a dysphemism — creates the false impression that people are getting away with breaking the law. It’s a way to skip the entire debate portion of the conversation and get right to the accusation. So when Hillary Clinton promises to close the loophole of corporate inversion, what she means to say is that Democrats disapprove of this completely legal thing that corporations do to shield their money from the highest corporate tax rate in the developed world. Loopholes are like giveaways, money that D.C. has yet to double and triple tax.

Obama’s Violating the Constitution by Not Submitting Climate Treaty to Senate. By Sen. Mike Lee
Excerpt: Today at United Nations Headquarters in New York City, Secretary of State John Kerry and representatives of over 130 nations will sign the Framework Convention on Climate Change agreement that was negotiated in Paris last December. According to President Obama, this “historic agreement” will “hold every country accountable” if they fail to meet its carbon emission targets. The White House has also acknowledged that the agreement contains “legally binding” provisions designed to create a “long-term framework” that will force the United States and signatory countries to reduce carbon emissions for decades to come. (This is governing by personal mandate, we don't need no stinking congressional involvement.  Obama believes in AGW, and being part of the "world body", regardless of the wants of the American public or Congress and the delineation of powers in the government.  Even if you believe in AGW and the need for this kind of agreement, the point is that we are supposed to be a nation of laws, not ruled by a king or emperor whose personal will is all that's necessary for things to be done.  Mr. Obama has pushed the power of the Executive Branch and the office of the President further than anyone since Andrew Jackson, and this absolutely must stop.  Unless we want the next President to continue on a king (or queen). --Del)

Excerpt: President Obama looks set to wade into the contentious debate in the United Kingdom over whether or not the nation should remain a member of the European Union – and some Brits are angry at the president’s intrusion into a delicate UK issue ahead of a major vote. Obama will arrive in London late Thursday for a three-day trip. On Friday he will meet Prime Minister David Cameron -- who is reportedly keen to get Obama’s backing ahead of the June 23 referendum, in which Britons will choose to remain or leave the European Union. (Just what the Queen needs for her birthday--a visit from the Obamas....  Wonder if he brought more videos of himself and his speeches for her. --Barb)

Worth Reading: Terror victims win Supreme Court judgment against Iran
Excerpt: The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld a judgment allowing families of victims of the 1983 Marine barracks bombing in Beirut and other terrorist attacks to collect nearly $2 billion in frozen Iranian funds. The court on Wednesday ruled 6-2 in favor of more than 1,300 relatives of the 241 U.S. service members who died in the Beirut bombing and victims of other attacks that courts have linked to Iran. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg wrote the opinion for the court rejecting efforts by Iran's central bank to try to stave off court orders that would allow the relatives to be paid for their losses. The money is sitting in a federal court trust account.

Paris university asks women to participate in Hijab Day “if you think women should have right to dress as they wish.” By Robert Spencer, JihadWatch.org
Excerpt: All women should have the right to dress as they wish? When will Sciences Po hold a day for Aqsa Parvez, whose Muslim father choked her to death with her hijab after she refused to wear it? When will Sciences Po celebrate the memory of Aqsa and Amina Muse Ali, a Christian woman in Somalia whom Muslims murdered because she wasn’t wearing a hijab? And of the 40 women who were murdered in Iraq in 2007 for not wearing the hijab; and of Alya Al-Safar, whose Muslim cousin threatened to kill her and harm her family because she stopped wearing the hijab in Britain; and of Amira Osman Hamid, who faces whipping in Sudan for refusing to wear the hijab; and of the Egyptian girl, also named Amira, who committed suicide after being brutalized for her family for refusing to wear the hijab; and of the Muslim and non-Muslim teachers at the Islamic College of South Australia who were told that they had to wear the hijab or be fired; and of the women in Chechnya whom police shot with paintballs because they weren’t wearing hijab; and of the women also in Chechnya who were threatened by men with automatic rifles for not wearing hijab; and of the elementary school teachers in Tunisia who were threatened with death for not wearing hijab; and of the Syrian schoolgirls who were forbidden to go to school unless they wore hijab; and of the women in Gaza whom Hamas has forced to wear hijab; and of the women in Iran who protested against the regime by daring to take off their legally-required hijab; and of the women in London whom Muslim thugs threatened to murder if they didn’t wear hijab; and of the anonymous young Muslim woman who doffed her hijab outside her home and started living a double life in fear of her parents, and all the other women and girls who have been killed or threatened, or who live in fear for daring not to wear the hijab?

CBC won’t name sex assault suspect because he’s a Muslim migrant. By Robert Spencer, JihadWatch.org
Excerpt: Shades of Chebucto Heights High School. The Canadian mainstream media, like the mainstream media all over the West, would apparently prefer that non-Muslims in the West get murdered in jihad attacks and brutalized by Muslim rape gangs than that people start to think that a massive influx of Muslim migrants might be a bad idea.

No, we didn't: Once We Had Some Muslim Friends
Excerpt:    It seems obvious that Obama should side with the Saudis in their historic battle with the Iranians, but he seems hell bent on going down in the historical ledger as the man who pursued a strategic alliance with Iran, whatever the cost. (We thought the Saudis were our friends, while they financed Jihad and terror-preaching in the US. ~Bob)

Recently? Saudi Arabia is both friend and foe
Excerpt:  The Obama administration made it clear that it will not pursue the matter, raising the specter of capitulation.... For years Saudi Arabia exported its brand of Wahhabism to madrassas across the globe. Formerly pacific places imbibed the militancy that emerged from this form of extremist ideology. We averted our gaze until recently, when it became apparent that these teachings can result in violence.

Former intel committee head: No reason to keep 9/11 report classified

Excerpt: The former chairman of the House Intelligence Committee says there’s no reason the classified section of the 9/11 Commission report should be kept from the public any longer.  “I don’t see any reason why at this point, 12, 13 years later, 15 years after 9/11, why the American people should not have full access to this data," former Rep. Pete Hoekstra said on Fox & Friends on Friday morning. The White House has said it does not intend to declassify the section, known as the “28 pages,” which many believe discusses the possible existence of a Saudi support network for the hijackers involved in the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks. (POTUS has assured Saudi chums that he will CTA with his executive orders; bends to SA extortion/black mail threat to cash those billions in US bonds.  Not quite time for the economic cataclysm, eh?  Legacy of "most transparent presidency ever."  Remember--Whatever he says, READ THE OPPOSITE to get what is really meant, per forensic psychologist profiler. --Barb)

Islamism Is The World’s War On Women
Excerpt: “What if a husband rapes his wife, is that domestic abuse?” Yeung asks Hanafi. “Should the man be punished or should the woman be punished for that, in your opinion?” Speaking through an interpreter, Hanafi replied, “There is a kind of rape you have and another we have in Islam.” When Yeung begins to ask a follow-up question, she’s cut off by Hanafi, who tells someone off-camera they should stop the interview. Hanafi then says, “Maybe I should give you to an Afghan man to take your nose off.” Others who have heard the clip say the actual translation is “Hand her over to an Afghan man so he can give it to so hard it’ll come out her nose.”

Between 12 and 14 December last year, more than 350 men, women and children belonging to the Shia sect are thought to have been killed in the town of Zaria in Kaduna state.
