Dontray Mills, 24, purchased a total of 27 firearms, mostly handguns, between December 2012 and April 2014 and pleaded guilty to one of the charges on April 22, 2014, after an ATF investigation. As a result of the conviction, Mills will never again be able to buy firearms legally. On Wednesday, he was sentenced. As part of the plea bargain, prosecutors agreed with the one year of probation. (I got a kick out of this one. At first I thought it was probably some kind of made-up thing, or an exaggeration, but then I checked further, and sure enough, it's just what the picture says. The judge basically laughed off the kid's activities, since after all, he's not a bad kid and studying to be a rapper musician. 27 guns to the highest bidders on the street is not something I think should be let slide, I wouldn't expect a life sentence, but at least a couple of years in the slammer seems the minimum reasonable thing. This is the kind of judging that goes on sometimes that makes me wonder who decided to let that guy get a black robe and run a courtroom. The judge idiotically repeats an NRA slogan, which no NRA person would apply for a millisecond to someone selling guns on the street, as if that makes sense in letting the kid off so easy. Makes absolute zero sense. --Del )
