Old Jarhead’s Political SitRep for December 22, 2012
Robert A. Hall
As I work on this blog, my Granddaughter, Britnye, has three
friends here, all around 12, for A Christmas Vacation sleepover. The lovely
tune “Silent Night” does not seem to be on the agenda. ~Bob
Responses from readers of The Coming Collapse of the American Republic
Like all good soldiers, I accomplished the mission you set
out for me below. Because of it, I have become an informed citizen, for that I
cannot thank you enough. I'll be sharing this with all my friends and more
importantly, the ill-informed. I could anywhere and not be able to swing this
book more than a foot before I hit an "ill-informed" person.
Hopefully, we'll see the "ill-informed" hitting each other with your
book. I am speaking figuratively, of course. I wrote a review on Amazon as well
and hope that I've done justice to your hard work. You will be placed in my
families prayers because all Old Jarheads need all the help they can get. Your
service to this great country is profoundly appreciated by another who served
in the Army and I will continue to fight using much of the information you have
provided. God Bless America
and our children! --Dan
I want to thank you for your gracious act in forwarding The Coming Collapse of the American Republic
to me. I consider it a master piece, and I enjoyed reading every word of it. I'm
now taking your suggestion and reading some of the other references you quoted,
and I'm suggesting to all of my friends, acquaintances, etc., that they also
read this fine book. Not only are you perceptive, but you are one who educates
by writing, something that I think lacks in most publications these days. Like
you, I am very concerned about the state of our Union ,
especially the fiscal situation, and it appears today that nothing worth doing
is happening within the Beltway. I think back to the Boston Tea Party, and
wonder if it isn't time for Americans to just stop sending their tax dollars to
Washington . There
probably isn't enough jails to hold everyone, and what a wake-up message that
would be for the politicians. I don't see this happening, but one can always
dream! Thanks again, thank you for your service to your Country, and I hope
that you have a very Merry Christmas, a happy and HEALTHY New Year. --Dick,
MSgt, USAF Ret.
Worth Reading : Marooned
in Mexico .
By Chet Nagle
Excerpt: Today, not one, but hundreds of Americans rot in
Mexican jails. The State Department stopped reporting numbers years ago, but in
1998 CNN reported 400 U.S.
citizens were imprisoned in Mexico ,
more than in any other nation. The Obama administration response is to create “Beyond
Merida,” an aid program with appropriations that totaled $1.3 billion by 2010.
In exchange for this ransom, how many Americans held without trial have been
freed? None. (Chet Nagle is a
graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, a former CIA agent, a former Pentagon
official, and author of Iran Covenant and The Woolsorter’s Plague, two novels I
loved. ~Bob.)
My gun compromise
If banning guns makes people safer, as an experiment, let’s
ban all guns from people guarding the President, VP, Cabinet Members and
Congress for three years, If that makes them safer, we can extend the ban later
to other guns. ~Bob
NRA calls for
protecting schools with arms
Excerpt: NRA’s Wayne LaPierre called for schools to be
protected with armed guards, just as sports stadiums, the President of the United States
and government buildings. (Shouting protesters had to be escorted out. Liberals
say we need a national conversation on guns. As always, their idea of a
“conversation” is to shout down anyone who disagrees with them. ~Bob.)
Worth Reading : Remarks
from the NRA press conference on Sandy Hook
school shooting, delivered on Dec. 21, 2012 (Transcript)
Excerpt: Meanwhile, while that happens, federal gun
prosecutions have decreased by 40 percent, to the lowest levels in a decade. So
now, due to a declined willingness to prosecute dangerous criminals, violent
crime is increasing again for the first time in 19 years. … And here’s one,
it’s called “Kindergarten Killers.” It’s been online for 10 years. How come my
research staff can find it, and all of yours couldn’t? Or didn’t want anyone to
know you had found it? (Actually enforcing laws might be racist. Better to
just pass more and not enforce them. And dealing with the entertainment
industry’s violence might hurt Hollywood
donations to Democrats. And off course, having background checks on a database
of the mentally ill would upset the base—better let them kill. Besides, when a
felon fails a background check trying to buy a gun, the government takes no
action to punish him. ~Bob.)
Play free on line: Kindergarten
Killers Game
A game by Gary Short. I’d love to know his politics, but,
regardless if left or right, anyone who creates a game like this is not my kind
of person. Funny I never heard this game mentioned in the media. ~Bob
Michael Moore:
Americans Desire Guns Because They’re Racist
Apparently he doesn’t know that 53% of the murders are
committed by the 13% of the population that is black. Of course, since in Chicago 85% of the
victims of black murder victims are also black, and since blacks kill white at
a higher rate than whites kill blacks, despite the population difference, he
doesn’t care. As long as he can make a movie to make more millions off the
liberal base. ~Bob.
Excerpt: A federal judge in Miami
has declared unconstitutional a Florida
law that made it illegal for physicians to ask patients about guns in their
homes. In a 22-page opinion, U.S. District Judge Marcia Cooke ridiculed
arguments by state officials that the law is necessary to protect gun rights.
For ‘A Well-Regulated Militia,’ What Firearms, Gear, and Skills Should You Own? High-powered, militarily useful weapons are the point of the Second Amendment. By Bob Owens
Excerpt: The explicit purpose that the Second Amendment was
written was so that civilians that comprised the militia and alarm list would
be armed with military-capable arms to depose would-be tyrants. I’d amend that
slightly to more accurately reflect that the intention was to arm citizens with
contemporary arms of military utility.
Gun quotes from The Patriot Post
Rifles such as the AR-15 are not "assault
weapons." The Defense Department says, "Assault rifles are short,
compact, selective-fire weapons [i.e., machine guns] that fire a cartridge
intermediate in power between submachine-gun and rifle cartridges. Assault
rifles have mild recoil characteristics and, because of this, are capable of
delivering effective full automatic fire at ranges up to 300 meters." The
AR-15 is a civilian semi-automatic weapon that fires intermediate-powered
rounds -- one for each distinct pull of the trigger. Such rifles aren't
"high-powered," either. Indeed, they aren't legal for deer hunting in
many states because their firepower isn't sufficient to reliably take down a
deer. … According to the FBI, two-thirds of murders that involve guns were
perpetrated with handguns. In fact, it's pretty embarrassing for Feinstein that
her own summary statement says that her ill-defined, so-called "assault
weapons have been used in at least 459 incidents, resulting in 385 deaths and
455 injuries" since the ban ended, because that's less than one-half of 1
percent of all gun deaths in that time period. Twice as many people are killed
with an assailant's hands, fists or feet -- and almost five times as many with
a knife -- than with a rifle. Furthermore, the gun-death statistics that
leftists tend to trot out are invariably skewed by gang-on-gang violence. Just
this year in Chicago -- Obama's hometown and a
city with the toughest gun restrictions in America -- 62 young people between
the ages of six and 18 have been murdered with guns -- and nearly 500 people
total. Not a word from Obama.
Here’s The Chart That
Supporters Of A Federal Assault Weapons Ban Won’t Want To See
Excerpt: More people were killed with shotguns (373),
knifes/blades (1,704) and “other weapon[s]” (1,772) more often than they were
with rifles in 2010, which were reportedly used in 358 murders that year. (When
fists and feet, which kill twice as many people as rifles, are outlawed, only
outlaws will have hands and feet. ~Bob.)

Gun Control: It’s
the Software, Stupid, Not the Hardware. By Michael Garfinkiel
Excerpt: The same is true of many other countries. Most
Americans may not be aware of it, but attacks on children and teenagers are
nowadays as prevalent in China
— a country where ordinary citizens are not allowed to own firearms, even
selectively — as in the United
States . No less than 21 children and
teenagers were killed in China
at school premises by adult intruders using knives and hammers over the past
three years, and about one hundred were injured.
Excerpt: A new Gallup
poll shows the majority of Americans believe armed police stationed at schools
would be the most effective way to prevent and stop school shootings. They also
believe spending more money on the mental healthcare system would help prevent
another Sandy Hook .
Media blackout: (Undocumented)
Shooter kills family members, wounds baby and police officer
Excerpt: Only a day after the mass murder at Sandy Hook Elementary School, another mad man went on a
shooting spree, again armed with a so-called assault rifle (AK-47) and one of
his victims was a child. However, unlike the Connecticut shooting, this one has been
completely ignored by the national media. … Moya was a previously deported
illegal alien. (This guy also had an assault rifle (when police use it
is called a 'tactical rifle'). So why did media ignore it? Easy. It makes the
current lax immigration enforcement policies look bad. Someone might get the
wrong idea and think our immaculate government's policy of flooding the country
with illegal aliens kills Americans [in addition to stealing jobs from
Americans, mostly black ones]. The media's main job is to paint
the progressives white and conservatives black. They'll get away with it
as long as the sheeple permit. --Don Hank. When blacks or illegal immigrants
kill, it’s racist for the media to report the facts. ~Bob.)
Sting’s guns tied to
killings. By Richard A. Serrano
Excerpt: Two of the weapons found after a drug cartel
gunfight last month in Sinaloa , Mexico , that killed five people have been traced
back to the United States .
One was lost during the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’
Operation Fast and Furious. The other originally was purchased by a supervisory
ATF agent who helped oversee the botched gun-tracking operation. (Step one in
gun control—stop the Obama administration from selling guns to Mexican drug
cartels. ~Bob.)
Armed Citizen Saves
Cop’s Life
Excerpt: Sgt. Steven Means of
the Early Police Department in Texas ,
is one law enforcement officer that is thankful for the Second Amendment
right for citizens to bear arms.
Good news. ~Bob. Excerpt: Jon Hammar, the Marine veteran
from Florida arrested at the Mexico border
for carrying his great-grandfather’s firearm, is being released Friday,
according to U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen.
Obama to tap (Hanoi John) Kerry for
Secretary of State
Excerpt: President Obama will nominate veteran senator and
2004 presidential nominee John Kerry for Secretary of State, officials said
Friday. (Iran
will celebrate. Wish I had a video of Kerry’s meeting with Communist North
Vietnamese officials in Paris
while he was still a reserve Navel Officer, and the war was still going on.
Maybe that’s why he never signed the form to release ALL of his military
records, despite promising to do so several times. The senate should demand
that he do so. ~Bob.)

Postal employees
stole millions in federal checks
Excerpt: Georgia

authorities caught them. More than 171 Postal workers arrested in 2012
Excerpt: One of my favorite Christmas stories happened
during the horrors of war. The Christmas carol “Silent
Night” was responsible for a wartime Christmas truce. (“Christmas in
the Trenches” is a folk song about this. ~Bob. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9coPzDx6tA&noredirect=1)
Where Do We Go From Here?
Excerpt: At the heart of every conservative’s worldview is
this simple truth. You—not your lucky rabbit’s foot, not some cosmic lottery,
not your circumstances, your parents, your race, gender, or disability—YOU
determine the life you live. Belief in self-determination is at the very
foundation of our ideology. It is why conservatives champion liberty and
personal responsibility while rejecting collective guilt, class envy, tribalism
and victim-hood. It’s what defines us. It’s what we believe and it’s who we
are. (Good piece, but bad language alert. And from the right this time. ~Bob.)
Chuck Hagel Once Opposed Nominee Because He Was “Openly
Aggressively Gay.” The man who would be secretary of defense also
supported the ban on open military service for gays and lesbians. By Zeke Miller
Excerpt: Some LGBT rights groups
are already
criticizing the potential selection of Hagel to replace Leon
Panetta.
The Trial Lawyer Wish
List
Excerpt: If you follow Project
Lawsuit Abuse, you know that trial lawyers spend a LOT of
money on lobbying. In fact, they spend more on campaign donations than any
other special interest group! You also probably know their political agenda:
trial lawyers want to elect lawsuit-happy judges and officials who won’t
stand up against lawsuit abuse so they can continue playing the lawsuit lottery.
But you might not know just how outrageous the trial lawyer agenda actually is.
Obama Gives Cold
Shoulder to Egyptian Secular Democrats. By Michael Meunier
Excerpt: When Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton
visited Egypt last July, she
was met with widespread protest from Coptic Christians and secular activists
objecting to what they all believed was the Obama administration's role in
helping the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) ascend to power in Egypt . The
secretary asked to meet with 10 Christian leaders, myself included.

Why the US media ignored Murdoch's brazen bid to hijack
the presidency: Did the Washington
Post and others underplay the story through fear of the News Corp chairman, or
simply tin-eared judgment? By Carl Bernstein
Excerpt: In the American instance, Murdoch's goal seems to
have been nothing less than using his media empire – notably Fox News – to
stealthily recruit, bankroll and support the presidential candidacy of General
David Petraeus in the 2012 election.

Fear keeps Egypt 's
Christians away from polls
Excerpt: A campaign of intimidation by Islamists left most
Christians in this southern Egyptian province too afraid to participate in last
week's referendum on an Islamist-drafted constitution they deeply oppose,
residents say. The disenfranchisement is hiking Christians' worries over their
future under empowered Muslim conservatives. Around a week before the vote,
some 50,000 Islamists marched through the provincial capital, Assiut, chanting
that Egypt
will be "Islamic, Islamic, despite the Christians."

Jews… and is for sterilizing the wombs of Jewish women,” the liberal Egyptian
