Chicago To Permanently Delete Gang Database Because… Racism
So every time any group is overly represented in any situation, it MUST be discrimination? OK, then of course men are being discriminated against because there are far, far more of them in jail for violent crimes than women. So either innocent men are being convicted of violent crimes or women get away with committing violent crimes or both. Clearly it's time to do something about that. Wiping out a police database on gangs because there are comparatively few Whites in it may be the ultimate shoot-yourself-in-the-foot move. Who in the hell doesn't know that gangs attract primarily people from lower economic classes, and in the big cities those are made up much more of minorities than Whites? Who doesn't know that the great majority of victims of the gangs are people in the same subgroups? So this will make the work of law enforcement in combatting gangs that much more difficult, and it's plenty difficult already. What it does is condemn the poor people living in those neighborhoods to even more domination by gangs, and increase the incidence of gang related crimes. I wonder how many of the activists who pushed for this move live in those neighborhoods. --Del
