General News and Comment

Fmr. CIA Head: Hillary’s Email Server Was Compromised By Foreign Intel Services [AUDIO]
Excerpt: Former acting CIA director Michael Morell said he believes former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s Homebrew email server was indeed compromised by foreign intelligence services. Morell, who served as both deputy director and acting director of the CIA during his four year tenure (2010-2013) made the remark to radio host Hugh Hewitt Friday afternoon as he continued promoting his new book on America’s war on terror. (Several very interesting comments on site. --Barb)

Newsmax Pledged $1 Million to Clinton Foundation. By Daniel Halper
Excerpt: "Newsmax, a conservative news organization, last year pledged $1 million to the Clinton Foundation over a five-year period, according to a spokesman for Chris Ruddy, the organization’s CEO. Mr. Ruddy has been friends with the Clintons since 2007," reports the Journal. "Through a spokesman, he said the donation wasn't tantamount to an endorsement of Mrs. Clinton’s potential campaign, though he thinks she would 'make a great presidential candidate.'"

Remember that Time the Clintons Said They Were ‘Dead Broke’? Here’s What They Made in 2014…By Justin Green
Excerpt: Hillary and Bill Clinton claimed they were “dead broke” upon leaving office in 2001.
But things seem to have gotten better for the powerful couple. According to disclosure forms released Friday, the Clintons made more than $25 million on the paid speaking circuit since January of 2014. The Washington Post also reported that Hillary Clinton earned more than $5 million for her memoir, “Hard Choices”:

Middle Class Champion: Clintons have made more than $25 million for speaking since January 2014
Excerpt: Hillary Rodham Clinton and former president Bill Clinton earned in excess of $25 million for delivering 104 speeches since the beginning of 2014, a huge infusion to their net worth as she was readying for a presidential bid.

Florida Principal Arrested, Suspended After Caught in Car with Male Student and Marijuana
Excerpt: Officers found Morton in the car with her shirt unbuttoned, "exposing her shoulders and part of her chest," according to the report. A plastic container of marijuana was also found in the car, according to the report. Police say Morton initially claimed the student was a stranger she'd just met because she was lonely. The unidentified student later told police she was his principal.

How the Illiberal Left Uses Silencing Tactics. By Kirsten Powers
Excerpt: Liberals are supposed to believe in protecting minority views, even when they disapprove of those views. Instead an online mob of presumably “liberal” people tweeted about Eich’s donation, many calling him a bigot and homophobe for supporting Prop 8. Remember, this proposition passed the same year Senator Barack Obama sat in Rick Warren’s church to explain his religious based opposition to same-sex marriage. Eich took the time to address the criticisms.

When Did America Turn Into Such A Nation Of Wimps? By John Hawkins
Excerpt: When I think about America, I think of the Founding Fathers who were willing to “mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor,” to defeat Great Britain and make this a free country. I think of John Paul Jones saying, "I wish to have no connection with any ship that does not sail fast; for I intend to go in harm's way." I think not only of the brave men who died fighting for their countrymen at the Alamo, but of Sam Houston and his force slaughtering a Mexican force twice their size in retaliation during the Battle of San Jacinto. I think of Teddy Roosevelt getting shot in the chest by an assassin at a political rally and then FINISHING his 90 minute speech before getting medical attention. (We better remember that it wasn’t our wonderful communication skills and sensitivity to people’s feelings that made this a great nation. We became a superpower because we out-built, out-fought and outworked everyone else. What the hell has happened to us? --Steve)

Amtrak crash spurs finger pointing in Congress
Excerpt: "While Democrats have bitterly complained about the level of funding for Amtrak, it wasn’t that long ago that Democrats were in charge of Congress – giving them the chance to boost Amtrak’s budget. In the 2009 economic stimulus law, $1.3 billion was provided to Amtrak, which was used for a variety of smaller projects, many for new wheelchair lifts and for compliance with the Americans with Disability Act. Here is the state-by-state list for Amtrak’s stimulus plans:..." (Rush Limbaugh noted day after accident that Amtrak has been in Obama's stimulus bill and wished someone would look up the expense items from that funding. Mr. Dupree has done this and posted it on his site. Mr. Dupree commented, "It'll make your blood boil." --Barb)

FBI probes report that projectile hit Amtrak train that derailed
Excerpt: An assistant conductor aboard the Amtrak train that derailed Tuesday said she believes she heard a radio transmission between the engineer and another operator in which he said the train had been struck by something just before the crash, the National Transportation Safety Board said Friday. NTSB member Robert Sumwalt said investigators found damage to the left-hand side of the train’s windshield and had called on the FBI to inspect it because of that agency’s forensic expertise. (Unless it caused the engineer to hit the throttle, I don't see how this would cause the crash. ~Bob)

Excerpt: A federal judge on Friday denied Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Shirley Abrahamson an injunction that would have restored her to the chief justice post she lost after a referendum last month. U.S. District Judge James Peterson said there was no irreparable harm in keeping Justice Patience Roggensack in the chief justice post while Abrahamson’s legal challenge in federal court continues. He added that he sees no signs of Roggensack making any wholesale changes to the court’s functions as chief justice.

Zuckerberg Ally, H1-B Advocate: Laid-off Americans 'Don't Work Hard Enough'
Excerpt: During a recent National Journal LIVE event, venture capitalist Lars Dalgaard, who is closely affiliated with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s lobbying group FWD.us, suggested that the reason hundreds of American STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and information technology (IT) workers at Southern California Edison utilities company were being laid off and replaced with foreign workers on H1B visas is because they “don’t work hard enough.” FWD.us has openly lobbied for raising the cap on the number of H1-B visas permitted annually as part of President Barack Obama’s comprehensive immigration reform program, which critics refer to as executive amnesty. As Breitbart News previously reported, the multi-billion dollar utilities company Southern California Edison has laid off scores of American IT workers, replacing them with foreign labor–specifically workers who are in the U.S. on H1-B visas and who are typically willing to work for far less compensation. (And that bottom line has nothing to do with it. Right. The outsourcing mentality started years ago with Clinton, with US manufacturing bases moving to China, Hong Kong and Mexico for cheap labor. Now they want to import cheap labor and displace natives. Changing the racial mix to something more pliable and able to be controlled; no allegiance to America and its culture, able to be programmed? Just like chickens with Avian flu, natural-born and properly naturalized American citizens will be a vanishing species. --Barb)

ABC Publishes AP Report Hitting ABC
Excerpt: In what may be the oddest publicity move of the year, ABC News has published a report stating that ABC faces a credibility crisis concerning “GMA” and “This Week” host George Stephanopoulos. That, or some poor intern is being stuffed into a closet as we speak. Stephanopoulos came under fire this week for donating $75,000 to the Clinton Global Foundation.

Worth Reading: Is the Democratic Party Becoming Anti-Labor? By John C. Goodman
Excerpt: Studies show there are three things you can do that will almost guarantee you will never live in poverty: (1) finish high school, (2) get a full time job and (3) get married, but wait until you are 21 and don’t have children until you are married. Do these three things and it’s very unlikely you will be poor. If you are, you won’t be poor for very long. So how does public policy affect these choices? Inner city schools dominated by powerful teacher unions are not meeting the needs of poor minority students. The welfare state (185 federal/state means test programs) is designed from top to bottom to encourage single motherhood and penalize marriage. And virtually every public policy you can think of is making it more expensive to hire workers.

4 US Cities Named “Most Violent” in the World… Here’s the 1 Thing They Have in Common
Excerpt: Mexico’s “Citizens’ Council for Public Security and Criminal Justice” recently compiled a list of the 50 most violent cities in the world, and it is quite shocking. It is important to note that this list did not include cities that are within a “war zone,” and many cities simply do not report their murder rate. The United States has the disturbing honor of having four cities make the list. Detroit, New Orleans, Baltimore and St. Louis now have the distinction of being some of the most deadly cities in the world.

Fetal science confronts abortion fanaticism
Excerpt: Last Wednesday, the New England Journal of Medicine published a study on the viability of premature babies. It found that hospitals that make the effort have effectively reduced the term of fetal viability. There was once a time when babies born prematurely at 23 weeks of pregnancy were considered dead on arrival. But with ever-improving medical techniques, they can sometimes now be saved at 22 weeks with the right sort of intervention, and may not even suffer health problems later. Some doctors are calling this a new potential point of viability.

Barack Obama’s true nuclear test: North Korea: Detractors and supporters say the president has given up on trying to stop North Korea’s steadily expanding program and missed opportunities to resume formal negotiations. By Nahal Toosi
Excerpt: President Barack Obama may be racing to secure a nuclear deal with Iran, but his nonproliferation legacy could ultimately hinge on a country further to the east — one that already has nuclear weapons and is led by an unpredictable 30-something.
When it comes to curbing North Korea’s nukes, even administration officials acknowledge that diplomacy is in a holding pattern.

Kerry: US concerned by China's actions in South China Sea
Excerpt: US Secretary of State John Kerry says he is concerned by the pace and scope of China's reclamation projects in contested areas of the South China Sea. He was speaking at a press conference with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing. China claims almost the whole of the South China Sea, resulting in overlapping claims with Brunei, Taiwan, the Philippines, Vietnam and Malaysia. Mr Wang said that China was determined to safeguard its sovereignty.

China linked to French amphibious warship deal
Excerpt: The arrival of French warships in Shanghai has sparked feverish speculation that China will purchase two amphibious assault ships that were originally intended for Russia.
Paris suspended the deal last year over Moscow's actions in Ukraine, leaving it stuck with 1.2 billion euros (£870 million) of unsold naval hardware.

Police: Suspect dies after being shot in home invasion. By Chelsea Ellsworth
Excerpt: Winterville Police responded to Ashley Meadows Drive at 10:40 Friday night. Police said they discovered signs of forced entry at a home there. Residents of the home told police an estranged husband had broken into the home with a handgun. A person living at the home shot the man several times.

Store employee fatally shoots attempted robber in Lithonia
Excerpt: While the employee was turned around the other suspect pulled out a shotgun and hit the employee in the head, police said. But the incident didn't go as planned for the suspects. Police said the employee pulled out his own firearm and fired several rounds, killing one suspect.

Obama Loves Criminals: Sends 3 Officials to Freddie Gray Funeral, 0 to NYPD Funeral
http://conservativebyte.com/2015/05/obama-loves-criminals-sends-3-officials-to-freddie-gray-funeral-0-to-nypd-funeral/
Excerpt: You may recall last week that we reported that Obama sent three–count ’em, THREE–White House officials to Baltimore resident Freddie Gray’s funeral. By contrast, this week Obama sent no one to the funeral of the New York police officer brutally shot in the face. But let’s take a look at some of the other notable funerals during Obama’s regime.

Violence surges as Baltimore police officers feel hesitant
Excerpt: the number of shootings and homicides has surged in Baltimore, some police officers say they feel hesitant on the job under intense public scrutiny and in the wake of criminal charges against six officers in the Freddie Gray case. ... But perhaps the most jarring effect has been on the Baltimore Police Department. "In 29 years, I've gone through some bad times, but I've never seen it this bad," said Lt. Kenneth Butler, president of the Vanguard Justice Society, a group for black Baltimore police officers. Officers "feel as though the state's attorney will hang them out to dry."

Interesting: The ACA’s Unintended Consequences. Obamacare will depress wages and productivity. By Casey B. Mulligan
http://www.city-journal.org/2015/eon0514cm.html
Excerpt: As a Supreme Court decision looms next month in King v. Burwell, which could determine the future of Obamacare, much of the economic discussion surrounding the Affordable Care Act (ACA) focuses, understandably, on the law’s effects on insurance premiums and on the delivery of health care. But the ACA also has significant potential to affect the allocation of labor—and thus wages—throughout the U.S. economy, through its penalties for employers that don’t provide health insurance for their workers as well as through its subsidies for individuals to purchase health insurance (the latter of which is the subject of the King case). The employer penalties and the individual subsidies will exert a downward effect on average wages and on wage patterns, across industry sectors and income levels. And because the law privileges certain kinds of businesses over others, it will also reduce productivity. One way to understand this is through Adam Smith’s theory of equalizing differences, through which we can trace and quantify the effects of the employer penalty and the exchange subsidies on wages and productivity. Doing so, I found that, overall, the ACA will reduce wages by $1,000 per year—or about 4 percent of wages for workers from low-income families and nearly 2 percent of wages for workers from higher-income families. Quite distinct from the ACA’s impact on insurance availability and on the quality of health care, these effects should be better understood. (And as time goes by, all the effects of this monster program will become evident, and surprise, there is a great deal of negativity on its way. In the end, yes, some people who didn't use to be able to get health insurance will do so. But a lot of others will either get less coverage for the same money they used to pay, or have to pay more money to get something like what they used to have, while taxpayers will be kicking in for the subsidies that will be keeping the poorer people in the system. And some people will simply not be able to get anything like the coverage they used to have. The bureaucracy will only get more huge, less efficient, and doctors will have more stress on them, while the insurance companies will make as much money as ever, maybe more. Such a deal! I really wonder what will happen when the full effect has hit. Maybe a revolt of sorts? We can hope. --Del)

Obamacare's Best Defense? 'It Could Have Been Worse.' By Sally Pipes
Excerpt: Instead, Obamacare has made health costs worse — much worse. It’s pushed both deductibles and premiums through the roof. As a result, millions of consumers have been forced to buy overpriced insurance — and yet still have to empty their wallets when they visit the doctor’s office. According to the online insurance marketplace HealthPocket, deductibles shot up 42 percent during the health law’s first year, compared to those for plans available pre-Obamacare. Today, almost one in seven Americans spends 10 percent or more of his or her income on out-of-pocket costs like deductibles.

The Death of the Green Energy Movement. By Stephen Moore
Excerpt: The green energy movement in America is dead. May it rest in peace. No, a majority of American energy over the next 20 years is not going to come from windmills and solar panels. One important lesson to be learned from the green energy fad’s rapid and expensive demise is that central planning doesn’t work. What crushed green energy was the boom in shale oil and gas along with the steep decline in the price of fossil fuel that few saw coming just a few years ago. A new International Energy Agency report concedes that green energy is in fast retreat and is getting crushed by “the recent drop in fossil fuel prices.” (Why the left hates fracking--it makes energy affordable for the poor and working classes. ~Bob)

The Valley of Missed Opportunity: One Town’s Fight for Economic Revival. By Alex Anderson
Excerpt: After 23 years in business, owner Marian Szarejko has decided to sell her pizza shack. “There are no jobs here,” Szarejko said. “Business has gone down so much that I am dipping into my savings just to keep this afloat.” Szarejko’s decision echoes a common theme that has plagued the southern tier of upstate New York for years—a lack of economic development. “If I owned a place in Pennsylvania, I wouldn’t be thinking of closing. I would be thinking about expanding,” Szarejko said. “The difference is they did fracking.”

Army's elite Delta Force kills top ISIS official, Abu Sayyaf, in rare Syrian raid
Excerpt: U.S. personnel overnight killed a key Islamic State leader in a raid in eastern Syria, the White House said Saturday morning. The U.S. team, based in Iraq, killed leader Abu Sayyaf and captured his wife, Umm Sayyaf, said National Security Council spokeswoman Bernadette Meehan.

Egyptian court sentences ousted President Mohammed Morsi to death
Excerpt: An Egyptian court on Saturday sentenced ousted President Mohammed Morsi to death over his part in a mass prison break that took place during the 2011 uprising that toppled Hosni Mubarak. As is customary in passing capital punishment, Judge Shaaban el-Shami referred his death sentence on Morsi and others to the nation's top Muslim theologian, or mufti, for his non-binding opinion. He set June 2 for the next hearing.

The Status of Western Military Aid to Kurdish Peshmerga Forces. By Lazar Berman
Excerpt: The Kurdish peshmerga forces (literally “those who confront death”) have proven willing and able to stand up to the Islamic State (formerly ISIS) on the battlefield. By contrast, two whole divisions of the U.S.-trained and financed Iraqi Army, along with tens of thousands of police and other paramilitary forces, fled in the face of the IS onslaught in 2014, leaving behind advanced weaponry paid for by American taxpayers for the jihadis and their Ba’athist allies to add to their arsenal. (Nice article, and the simple question I have asked already is, why in hell aren't we pouring every kind of military aid to these guys that we can? The hell with the worries that they have in Baghdad about the Kurds getting well armed, those idiots in Baghdad are a major part of the problem, not the solution. The simplest, smartest, and easiest thing for us to do is support the Kurds like our brothers, which will pay of very nicely, both in the results against ISIS, keeping them from getting closer to Iran, and showing the world that we can do the smart thing and take good care of those who fight the ones we want fought. And the kind of stuff they need isn't even all that expensive, especially compared to the billions we wasted on the Iraqi army. So why hasn't this gone ahead like it should? Because of the total lack of effective, competent, thinking leadership up in the White House. You really wonder whose side is he on. --Del)

Robert Spencer speaks about the problem
At the link you can find the video of Spencer doing a very nice, thorough speech about the conflict between jihadism and Western society, and how the addiction to PC thinking, despite all evidence of how dangerous this fanaticism really is, is keeping us from properly defending ourselves. He does a very good job in discussing all of this. --Del

Views on Israel drive a wedge in campus life
Excerpt: The debates can stretch from dusk to dawn, punctuated by tearful speeches and forceful shouting matches, with accusations of racism, colonialism and anti-Semitism. At dozens of college campuses across the country, student government councils are embracing resolutions calling on their administrations to divest from companies that enable what they see as Israel’s mistreatment of Palestinians. And while no university boards or administrators are heeding the students’ demands, the effort to pressure Israel appears to be gaining traction at campuses across the country and driving a wedge between many Jewish and minority students. (The Arabs who now call themselves Palestinian want a two state solution: one for Hamas one for Fatah. with the Jews dead. But no Muslim state recognizes the rights of woman and religious minorities like Israel does. None have true freedom of the press or freedom of speech. I'm a Lutheran--and I stand with Israel. ~Bob)

‘Blaming the Victim’: The One Issue Bill Maher Says Many Liberals He ‘Used to Respect’ Just Don’t Understand. By Jason Howerton
Excerpt: Though liberals generally “hate blaming the victim,” many of them are quick to do exactly that when it comes to radical Islam, HBO’s Bill Maher argued on his show Friday.
Discussing the issue with author Ayaan Hirsi Ali, an outspoken critic of radical Islam, Maher asked why so many liberals tend to point the finger at victims and critics of radical Islam rather than standing by them.

Have You Heard the One About the Deserter and the Five Taliban Commanders? John McCain has, and by God he's going to get to the bottom of it some time before 2022.
Excerpt: Congress has and now, in its own impotent way, is stamping its tiny feet: The court-martial proceeding for accused Army deserter Bowe Berghdal won’t begin until July, but the Republican Congress plans to put him back in the headlines much sooner by expanding investigations into the deal to swap him for five Taliban commanders imprisoned at Guantanamo BayCuba. The chairmen of the House and Senate Armed Services Committees, Representative Mac Thornberry and Senator John McCain, have been top critics of the Obama administration’s Bergdahl deal last May without notifying Congress in advance. Now, following the Army’s decision to indict him for desertion and misbehavior in the face of the enemy — and weeks before the five Taliban leaders are to be released from their one year of house arrest in Qatar — they tell me they will ramp up and broaden their investigations of the swap.

Italy: Muslim schoolboy violently punches 12-year-old female classmate for wearing crucifix. By Robert Spence, JihadWatch.org
Excerpt: The critics of our free speech event in Garland, Texas should take careful note of this. The Qur’an says that Jesus was neither killed nor crucified (4:157). The cross is offensive to Muslims as a falsehood and an implicit claim that Allah would allow one of his prophets to suffer such a humiliating death. So she must have provoked the Muslim boy by wearing it, right? It’s her fault she got punched. Next time she should avoid giving offense to Muslims. That’s what they’re saying about our event — that we provoked the jihadis. If that is so, then so also did this girl provoke the Muslim who punched her.

Nun: 'Islam Is ISIS. Whoever Says Otherwise Is a Liar.' By Erick Stakelbeck
Excerpt: Hundreds of thousands of Christians have been displaced from their homes and countless others have been murdered or enslaved by the jihadist army, with no end in sight. Sister Hatune Dogan has been on the ground and witnessed the devastation of these ancient Christian communities. She's listened to survivors tell how Christians and Yazidi women are being sold into sex slavery. "They choose the most beautiful one, even if they have a small child, and they sell these women, these ladies to each other. They don't sell to another religion -- only Sunni Muslim," Dogan said.

Worth Reading: The Mideast Maelstrom on Obama’s Watch. By Joseph Klein
Excerpt: Rarely in the history of American foreign policy has a U.S. president been so fundamentally wrong about a vital region in the world, with lethal consequences. President Barack Obama’s legacy will be an unstable, roiling Middle East and North Africa. His policies are enabling a more aggressive Iranian regime to spread its Shiite brand of Islamic jihad throughout the region and gain a path to becoming a nuclear armed state. His withdrawal of all combat troops from Iraq in 2011, coupled with his abetting of the false hopes of the Arab Spring, have given rise to a strengthened Islamic State with ambitions for a transnational caliphate.

The Failed Tactic of Flattering Islam Won’t Go Away. By Bruce Thornton
Excerpt: The recent attack in Texas against a “draw Mohammed” event ended up with two dead jihadis and widespread criticism of event organizer Pamela Geller for “inciting” or “provoking” the assault on our First Amendment right to free speech. The hypocrisies and ignorance behind such criticism have been amply documented, including by some on the left. But there’s another argument against actions and events like Geller’s that needs dismantling. This is the received wisdom that we should avoid criticizing Islamic doctrine or Mohammed because it will alienate moderate Muslims who otherwise would help us against the so-called “extremist” jihadists.

Do I Have to Draw You a Picture? The Cartoon Wars Come to America. By William Kilpatrick
Excerpt: The predominant media response to the jihad attack in Garland, Texas was predictable. To wit: it’s not nice to attack people with AK-47s, but, then, it’s not nice to draw offensive cartoons of Muhammad either. Or as Alisyn Camerota of CNN put it, “there’s a fine line between freedom of speech and being intentionally incendiary and provocative.”
This was said in the course of an interview with Pamela Geller, the organizer of the Muhammad Art Exhibit and Cartoon Contest event that was interrupted by the Islamist attackers.

Offensive Art’ and Double Standards at the NY Times. By Arnold Ahlert
Excerpt: “But it is equally clear that the Muhammad Art Exhibit and Contest in Garland, Tex., was not really about free speech. It was an exercise in bigotry and hatred posing as a blow for freedom,” the board concludes. For the pseudo-moralists who run the Times, such indignation is highly selective. In 1989, Arts Section contributor Michael Brenson was highly effusive when it came to defending and praising artist Andres Serrano whose ostensible cutting-edge brilliance consisted of a photograph entitled “Piss Christ,” depicting a crucifix submerged in a jar of urine. He described the photo as a “religious emblem enveloped in a dreamy golden haze.” Moreover, Brenson was upset the about ensuing uproar over the original showing of the photograph.

Islamophobia: Thought Crime of the Totalitarian Future. By David Horowitz and Robert Spencer
Excerpt: The pamphlet below is the opening chapter of David Horowitz’s new book, “The Black Book of the American Left, Volume IV – Islamo-Fascism and the War Against the Jews.” To order it, click here. In the aftermath of the jihadist attack in Garland, TX, leftists and Islamic supremacists are moving swiftly blame Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer for their American Freedom Defense Initiative/Jihad Watch Muhammad Art Exhibit and Cartoon Contest for supposedly “provoking” the violent attack. Once again, advocates of free speech are being slandered while any attempts to examine the real motives of the ISIS-linked terrorists who tried to slaughter them are being labeled as unjustified and “Islamophobic.” To combat this pernicious tactic and the toxic delusion that impoliteness about the prophet, and not planned Islamic terrorism, is somehow the cause of the attack in Garland in particular and the global jihad in general, Frontpage is running the Freedom Center’s pamphlet, Islamophobia: Thought Crime of the Totalitarian Future, written by David Horowitz and Robert Spencer.

Radical Islamists jailed after chopping off Indian teacher's hand for perceived blasphemy
http://www.9news.com.au/world/2015/05/11/06/21/islamists-jailed-after-chopping-off-indian-teachers-hand
Excerpt: A group of Islamists responsible for chopping off an Indian teacher’s hand after they incorrectly believed he had used the name of the Prophet Mohamed in an exam question have been jailed. TJ Joseph, a professor in Kerala at the Thodupuzha Newman college, was arrested by local police and received multiple death threats in April 2010 after using a passage from a Malayalam film screenplay, which featured a conversation between God and a character named Muhammed, in an exam for his undergraduate students. UK: Almost 200 recruits withdrawn from army's basic training amid jihadists fear. By John Ward
Excerpt: The revelation has sparked fears terrorists may have infiltrated our armed forces.
MI5 agents already believe exBritish soldiers are fighting with Islamic State and may return to the UK to commit atrocities. But the latest disclosure will fuel fears our services are being targeted by extremists. Senior Ministry of Defence figures admit infiltration by potential terrorists is almost inevitable and is one of the reasons why security vetting is now treated so seriously.

I'm More Hateful Than Pamela Geller. By David French
Excerpt: I've seen jihad up-close, in an Iraqi province where jihadists raped women to shame them into becoming suicide bombers, where they put bombs in little boys' backpacks then remotely detonated them at family gatherings, where they beheaded innocent civilians while cheering wildly like they were at a soccer match, and where they shot babies in the face to "send a message" to their parents. I've seen the despair in the eyes of the innocent victims of jihad, and - believe me - that despair is infinitely greater than the alleged "anguish" caused by a few cartoons. (It's an approach that not many would take, to just come right out and say who you hate, have killed in the past, would be happy to kill more of in the future, and why. Reminds me of why some of the Kit Carson scouts the Marines had in Viet Nam, who were formerly with the VC and had been forced to witness some of the carefully crafted atrocities their cadre inflicted on villagers, were so very eager to find and kill those VC any way they could. Really seeing the horror others inflict so enthusiastically on innocents does tend to make a decent man want to wipe out those murderers early and often. but French will of course be written off as one of those terrible, intolerant "Islamophobes" by the PC crowd. Their understanding of reality is badly flawed, but they have the advantage of knowing they are always right. It's that righteousness thing again..... I like French, he writes well and from a solid base of real understanding. --Del)

Important: The Middle East Runs out of Water. By Daniel Pipes
Excerpt: A ranking Iranian political figure, Issa Kalantari, recently warned that past mistakes leave Iran with water supplies so insufficient that up to 70 percent, or 55 million out of 78 million Iranians, would be forced to abandon their native country for parts unknown.
Many facts buttress Kalantari's apocalyptic prediction: Once lauded in poetry, Lake Urmia, the Middle East's largest lake, has lost 95 percent of its water since 1996, going from 31 billion cubic meters to 1.5 billion. What the Seine is to Paris, the Zayanderud was to Isfahan – except the latter went bone-dry in 2010. Over two-thirds of Iran's cities and towns are "on the verge of a water crisis" that could result in drinking water shortages; already, thousands of villages depend on water tankers. Unprecedented dust storms disrupt economic activity and damage health.
