General News and Comment
Excerpt: No kidding; House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said that the Clintons will have to answer the numerous questions relating to their Foundation dealings, especially after it seems that the non-profit founded by the Clintons took $500k from a charity just to appear at one of their events. As Guy wrote last week, the Happy Hearts Fund’s 2014 gala cost a little over $363,000, but the most expensive item in the event budget was the $500,000 fee paid to the Clinton Foundation in return for Bill accepting a lifetime achievement award.
There Are Flawed Candidates, And Then There’s Hillary Clinton. By Matt Vespa
Excerpt: She has to be the gold standard for flawed candidacies. She had unsubstantiated intelligence sent to her private email system; from an address her lawyers said did not exist when she was at State. That was a lie. She claims to be the most transparent (chuckle) person in public life, yet we find little nuggets every day about her non-profit failing to disclose donations, botching tax forms, and allegedly being the nexus for foreign governments to cash in on their favors from their donations to the Foundation. She had a private email system, which she used to conduct all her business while at the State Department, even though it was pretty much against government regulation to do so–and served as judge and jury for emails on that server that were work-related and personal. Oh, and she deleted the personal emails and wiped the server clean.:
Kerry breaks leg in Geneva bike crash, flying back to US
Excerpt: Secretary of State John Kerry broke his leg in a bike crash outside Geneva Sunday, where he had been holding nuclear talks with Iran ’s foreign minister. Kerry called off the rest of his four-nation trip and will fly back to Boston .
Excerpt: But there’s a far simpler reason for why I’ve doubted O’Malley’s ability to compete: The people who know him best don’t like him. O’Malley is starting way down in the polls, and he’s not well known. And we have evidence that more O’Malley exposure doesn’t equal more O’Malley support. He earned just 3 percent (compared to Clinton ’s 63 percent) in a poll of Democratic voters in Maryland conducted in October by The Washington Post and the University of Maryland .
Here’s How Texas Deals With Dads Who Deliver Deadly Beatdowns to Child Rapists
Excerpt: A 23-year-old Texas father didn’t face charges after walking in on a pedophile who was attempting to rape his five-year-old daughter in a small barn and beating him to death in a fit of defensive rage. That’s because Texas state laws authorize the use of deadly force to stop either aggravated sexual assaults or sexual assaults.
Thugs Decide to Rob 89-Year-Old Granny… Learn Too Late It’s the Worst Mistake They’ll Ever Make
Excerpt: Two intruders who were part of a planned robbery to steal a large quantity of jewelry from a residence were met inside the house with something they never thought would force them to flee — an 89-year-old grandmother. Edward Brown and Philip Mortlock made their way into the house of Mildred Unsworth of Lancashire, England, early one morning, believing they were about to hit the jackpot — but that’s when Unsworth burst out of her room and got to work.
Lower the Standards! None of 8 remaining female candidates pass first phase of Ranger School
Excerpt: None of the remaining eight female Ranger School candidates managed to pass the first phase of the U.S. Army’s elite infantry program. Of the eight women, five of them were kicked out of training altogether. Three others will be allowed to start over from the beginning of the first phase of Ranger School . Those three will start class on June 21. The Army said in a statement that 29 students failed to meet the standards of phase one, also known as the Darby Phase. A vast majority of the students who are being dropped from the course were unable to successfully lead a patrol. All students received multiple opportunities to lead a patrol as a squad or team leader, the Army said. (Have to lower the standards. What does it signify that male and female troops die down the road if it pleases the political-correct base--who would never allow their children top serve. ~Bob)
Navajo Nation officer mourned following shooting
Excerpt: Navajo Police Officer Alex Yazzie, 42, was killed in a gun battle with a 26-year-old man who led police on a 40-mile chase across the high desert of the Navajo Reservation and into the Chuska Mountains of northeast Arizona . The man, identified by police as Justin Fowler, died in the battle. Earlier, police said, he had eluded officers attempting to question him about a domestic-violence report. He returned to taunt them later, police said, setting off the chase that ended in the deadly fight. ... Yazzie was a Marine veteran who had served as a Navajo police officer since 2012, the tribal council speaker's office said in a statement.

South China Sea: Defence Minister Kevin Andrews outlines Australia 's tough stance against island moves
Excerpt: Defence Minister Kevin Andrews has joined the United States and other nations in opposing China 's large-scale land reclamation in the South China Sea . Satellite imagery shows at least one former atoll in the contested Spratly islands is now home to a Chinese harbour and a runway is also under construction. Mr Andrews told a security conference in Singapore that Australia was concerned about any military build-up on the artificial islands in the area believed to be home to oil and gas reserves.
Excerpt: China on Sunday rejected US demands to stop reclamation works in the South China Sea , saying it was exercising its sovereignty and using the controversial outposts to fulfil international responsibilities. Admiral Sun Jianguo, deputy chief of the general staff department in the People's Liberation Army, told a security summit in Singapore that "the situation in the South China Sea is on the whole peaceful and stable, and there has never been an issue with the freedom of navigation." (The Golden Rule: The one who has the gold makes the rules. ~Bob)

At any given moment there is an orthodoxy, a body of ideas which it is assumed all right-thinking people will accept without question. It is not exactly forbidden to state this or that or the other, but it is 'not done'... Interesting: Sins of the Aral Sea
Excerpt: When Alexander the Great conquered this territory in the fourth century B.C., these rivers already had a long history of providing lifeblood to Central Asia . For centuries the Aral Sea and its vast deltas sustained an archipelago of settlements along the Silk Road that connected China to Europe . These ancient populations of Tajiks, Uzbeks, Kazakhs, and other ethnicities prospered as farmers, fishermen, herders, merchants, and craftsmen. Things changed after the Uzbek S.S.R. became part of the fledgling Soviet empire in the early 1920s and Stalin decided to turn his Central Asian republics into giant cotton plantations. But the arid climate in this part of the world is ill suited to growing such a thirsty crop, and the Soviets undertook one of the most ambitious engineering projects in world history, hand-digging thousands of miles of irrigation canals to channel the water from the Amu Darya and Syr Darya into the surrounding desert.

I studied the Koran a great deal. I came away from that study with the conviction there have been few religions in the world as deadly to men as that of Muhammad. So far as I can see, it is the principal cause of the decadence so visible today in the Muslim world and, though less absurd than the polytheism of old, its social and political tendencies are in my opinion to be feared, and I therefore regard it as a form of decadence rather than a form of progress in relation to paganism itself. -- Alexis de Tocqueville
Excerpt: In 2014 the Jewish lesbian “Rabbi" Robin Nafshi, first identified herself as a person with a wide understanding of various religious and political views and then proceeded to imply that Sharia law could be one hundred percent compatible with the constitutional life of modern day America. She also proceeded to condemn those that would say otherwise: "The politicians who endorse anti-Sharia laws are exploiting Americans’ legitimate fears of ISIS, al Qaida, Hamas and other extremist groups in order to ostracize and discriminate against the American Muslim community." (For starters, under Shari'a, she would be executed. ~Bob)
Excerpt: Commander Jassem Nouri is likely a member of Qods Force, the external operations branch of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps Qods Force. He was advising Shiite militias, such as Hezbollah Brigades, who are engaged in fighting in Iraq 's Anbar province.
Youth trying to reach Syria got instructions from Montreal mosque, family members say
Excerpt: Ten young Quebec Muslims who were detained for allegedly trying to join jihadist groups in Syria received precise travel instructions, financing advice and moral support from individuals they met at a Montreal mosque, family members have alleged to national security investigators.
Islamic State claims 2nd suicide bombing at Saudi mosque
Excerpt: A suicide bomber disguised as a woman blew himself up in the parking lot of a Shiite mosque during Friday prayers, killing four people in the second such attack in as many weeks claimed by the Islamic State group. The latest attack and a suicide bombing at a Shiite mosque that killed 21 people last Friday appeared aimed at fanning sectarianism and destabilizing the kingdom. Both attacks took place in the oil-rich east, which has a sizable Shiite community that has long complained of discrimination.
Excerpt: A suspected suicide bomber has blown himself up inside a mosque in Nigeria 's Maiduguri city killing 10 people, a hospital source said, after an attack by Boko Haram insurgents on the outskirts. The attacks occurred a day after the inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari, who swore to crush the Islamist militant group and move the command centre for military operations away from the capital Abuja to Maiduguri.
Excerpt: The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria has ramped up its activities in Southeast Asia so effectively that there is now an entire military unit of terrorists recruited from Indonesia , Malaysia and Singapore , according to Singapore 's prime minister. “Southeast Asia is a key recruitment center for ISIS,” Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said at the Shangri-La Dialogue here in Singapore Friday. He noted that this included more than 500 Indonesians and dozens of Malaysians.

Provoking Violence: NYT's Artistic Display of Religious Hypocrisy: Runs Offensive Virgin Mary Painting Once Again. By Clay Waters
Excerpt: The New York Times' hypocrisy regarding displays of "offensive" religious imagery runs unabated, as shown in a Scott Reyburn article in Friday's Arts section on the sale of Chris Ofili's controversial painting "The Holy Virgin Mary," which shows the Virgin Mary clotted with elephant dung against a porn-collage background -- and accompanied by a photograph of the offensive work. Yet when the paper refused to reprint a cartoon of Muhammad that appeared in the Paris satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo that resulted in the January 2015 massacre of 12 magazine staffers, it offered this smug, cowardly justification: Under Times standards, we do not normally publish images or other material deliberately intended to offend religious sensibilities. After careful consideration, Times editors decided that describing the cartoons in question would give readers sufficient information to understand today’s story. (If Christians attack the Times, I'm sure the left will say they were provoked...~Bob)
Worth Reading : Islamic Jizya: Fact and Fiction. By Raymond Ibrahim
Excerpt: Muslim demands for non-Muslim "infidels" to pay jizya on pain of death are growing, even as the West fluctuates between having no clue what jizya is and thinking that jizya is an example of "tolerance" in Islam. In the video where the Islamic State slaughters some 30 Christian Ethiopians in Libya last April, the spokesman repeatedly pointed out that payment of jizya (which the impoverished Ethiopian migrant workers could not render, nor the 21 Copts before them) is the only way for Christians around the world to safeguard their lives:
But whoever refuses [to pay jizya] will see nothing from us but the edge of a spear. The men will be killed and the children will be enslaved, and their wealth will be taken as booty. This is the judgment of Allah and His Messenger.
