Finalizes Obamacare Tax Over Holiday Weekend:
Health Insurance Tax to Raise Premiums by 3%, Cost $60 Billion Over Next 5
Years
Excerpt: The Obama administration quietly finalized the
Health Insurance Tax (HIT) over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, a provision
in Obamacare that will cost nearly $60 billion over the next five years and
raise health care premiums by 3 percent.
Dropped Coverage:
How the media missed the two biggest Obamacare screw-ups. By Trudy Lieberman

Affordable Care Act before the health care exchanges went online—sort

Between President, Sebelius In 3.5 Years Leading Up To Obamacare Launch
Excerpt: A stunning new study unveiled on Fox

calendar records just one face-to-face meeting between Obama and his Health and
Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in the more than
three-and-a-half years leading up to the disastrous Obamacare launch.

Drafting Docs: Look for doctors to be
conscripted to treat Medicare and Medicaid patients. By Kevin D. Williamson
Excerpt: Obamacare promises to make this worse by proposing
to further reduce physicians’ fees at the same time it is proposing to raise
them. The Obamacare price-fixing authority, the Independent Payment Advisory
Board, is explicitly charged with reducing Medicare spending, but it is also
legally forbidden to do so by reducing benefits, which leaves physicians’
compensation as pretty much the only meaningful source of cuts. So
while higher demand + limited supply = higher prices, higher demand +
limited supply + price controls = shortages.
Excerpt: Earlier this week I noted that the words
“Affordable Care Act” and/or “Obamacare”do not appear on
the DCCC’s home page. Their spokesmen insisted that a section labeled
“GOP Hypocrites” counts, although even on that
link, there’s no mention of the president’s signature domestic
legislation; it’s merely an attack that “Republicans are so intent upon taking
away your health care that they shut down the government over it.”
(Conflating Obamacare with “your health care” is the point,
obviously.)
Obamacare's Next
Problem: Doc Shock. By Debra J. Saunders
Excerpt: It would be easier to believe the president if he
hadn't said in 2009, "If you like the plan you have, you can keep it. If
you like the doctor you have, you can keep your doctor, too."
One million Californians who lose their individual plans in
2014 know that's not true; when many saw their new premiums, they experienced
"sticker shock." Next comes "doc shock" -- the revelation
that many folks also won't be able to keep their doctors.
Megyn Kelly Loses It
Over Huge New Obamacare Problem: ‘That’s Your Money!’
Excerpt: Megyn Kelly kicked off her
show Tuesday night utterly bewildered at a report she touted as
striking another blow for Obamacare, after two whole months of problem after problem
plaguing the health care website. This time, it’s about the payment mechanism
for the site, and Kelly was astonished to discover that because no one is able
to actually pay for plans on the site yet, the plan is to “estimate” the cost
of each plan and for the government to just work out that estimate with
insurers. Yep. A program designed to provide affordable healthcare to millions
of people will be temporarily whittling the payment system down to a crap
shoot. Kelly cited a new report
from Reuters on a “short-term” fix for the Obamacare site’s payment system as
they get the kinks sorted out.

Congressional Study:
Murder Rate Plummets As Gun Ownership Soars
Excerpt: A Congressional Research Service (CRS) report shows
that while gun ownership climbed from 192 million
firearms in 1994 to 310 million firearms in 2009, crime fell—and fell sharply. According
to the report, the "firearm-related murder and non-negligent
homicide" rate was 6.6 per 100,000 Americans in 1993. Following the
exponential growth in the number of guns, that rate fell to 3.6 per 100,000 in
2000.
Excerpt: You've probably heard
someone say, "I'm fat but fit." Several recent studies have
suggested this statement could be true.
But a new review of existing studiespublished this week in
the Annals of Internal Medicine may put a stop to the rumor. "Healthy

The
True Measure of JFK's Greatness. By Taki Theodoracopulos
Excerpt:
Kennedy was at the helm when the “Strategic Hamlets” program in Vietnam saw
hundreds of thousands of peasants deracinated in return for cash in order to
deprive safe havens to the Viet Cong. (Vietnamese rulers stole the cash.)
Kennedy blamed Diem rather than himself, agreed to the coup that killed the
Vietnamese strongman with a $40,000 payment, and was assassinated himself three
weeks later. These are facts; the rest is guesswork.
Dementia epidemic
looms with 135 million sufferers expected by 2050
Many governments are woefully unprepared for an epidemic of
dementia currently affecting 44 million people worldwide and set to more than
treble to 135 million people by 2050, health experts and campaigners
said on Thursday. Fresh estimates from the advocacy group Alzheimer's
Disease International (ADI) showed a 17 percent increase in the number of
people with the incurable mind-robbing condition compared with 2010, and warned
that by 2050 more than 70 percent of dementia sufferers will be living in poorer
countries. (Cease and desist global arial spraying of aluminum particles for

Obama's end-runs
around Congress spark bipartisan criticism
President Obama has repeatedly pledged, "If Congress
refuses to act, I'll do everything in my power to act without them," and
as he makes good on his promise it's sparking criticism from both the right and
left. At a House Judiciary Committee hearing this week, GOP lawmakers repeatedly
expressed frustration with the president's end-runs around Congress on
everything from non-enforcement of immigration laws to massive re-writes of the
Affordable Care Act (ACA). Committee Chairman Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., says
the president, "doesn't have a debate in the Oval Office about what he
wants to do," adding, "he does what he wants to do, and then you no
longer have representative democracy." (From “A Man For All Seasons,” the

law! Sir Thomas More: Yes! What would you do? Cut a great road

Thomas More: Oh? And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned
'round on you, where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat? --Barb)

Afraid of China, State Dept
Undermines Two Centuries of U.S. Doctrine: Trust John Kerry's State
Department to walk into a Chinese-made trap.
Excerpt: On Monday, the State Department called on China to
withdraw the rules it imposed when announcing its East China Sea Air Defense
Identification Zone. “The fact that China’s announcement has caused confusion and increased the risk of accidents only
further underscores the validity of concerns and the need for China to rescind the procedures,”said
spokeswoman Jen Psaki at the department’s daily press briefing. Psaki’s
statement — a little too diplomatic given the circumstances — was a first step
in undoing the harm the State Department caused on Friday when it
advised U.S. carriers to comply with Beijing’s demands for its
new zone.
Congress Warned Obama’s Actions
Making the Body ‘Less and Less Relevant.’ Lawmakers told a “fourth
branch” of government may be on the horizon, where federal agencies can
determine their own jurisdictions.
Excerpt: The House Judiciary Committee debated on Tuesday
whether President Obama acted within his purview when he delayed the new
healthcare law and changed immigration enforcement. Republicans have accused
Obama of circumventing the nation’s laws by picking and choosing which laws to
enforce, and at least one expert told the committee that this could change
government as the nation knows it. From the Affordable Care Act (ACA), to the
DREAM Act and more, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.)
said the Obama administration has repeatedly ignored what Congress has passed,
while enacting executive orders and other exercises without congressional
approval.

Sr.’s brother’s testimony.
Excerpt: He understood that a divided Congress is an
ambitious president’s best friend, because a divided Congress will be unable to
act against a president who steps outside his authority. When half of the
divided Congress agrees with his actions because it views the ends as
justifying the means, the president has license to break, violate, ignore and
rewrite laws according to his whims. When he has a media that remains in love
with him, he has sufficient air support to divide and destroy what remains of
his opposition.

are not being created for all known information security weaknesses or
mitigated in a timely manner; and (3) baseline security configuration settings
are not being implemented for all systems. Additional information security
program areas that need improvement include incident detection and analysis,
specialized training, account and identity management, and contingency
planning. (This is for the Department of Homeland Security? --Barb)
Why being a Christian could be the most dangerous identity
to hold in the world today. By Charles Lewis
Excerpt: There are many reasons why it is hard to see
Christians as the world’s most aggrieved victims: there are 2.2. billion
Christians worldwide, far too numerous to be vulnerable; Christians themselves,
rightly or wrongly, are still perceived as history’s great persecutors. Today,
everyone knows a church in Iraq
or in Egypt
might be attacked with lives lost but those are thought to be isolated
incidents brought on by radical Islam. John Allen, the highly esteemed veteran
Vatican-based journalist for the National Catholic Reporter, believes this
attitude is toxic. In his new book, The Global War on Christians, he makes
a compelling case that the most dangerous identity to hold in the world today
is that of a Christian.( All over the world Christians are being attacked and
killed, churches burned, and yet it's not a matter of international scandal as
it should be. We in the USA
are so used to religious freedom and a culture based on Judao-Christian values
that we rarely think about what it means to be peresecuted for our faith. But
we need to wake up and consider what is going on elsewhere in the world. And
for that matter, the steady aggression by secularists and atheists against
Christianity here. We should not be afraid or reluctant to stand up for our
faith, and all Christians of different denominations need to stand with and for
each other. --Del )
Heroic Allies. By
Harry F. Noyes III
Excerpt: They were small, talked in sing-song squeaks, put a
smelly fish sauce on their food, and often held hands with each other. It is
not surprising that American troops sent to Southeast Asia -- mostly young,
indifferently educated, and molded by a society with too much self-esteem and
too little understanding of other cultures -- found it hard to empathize with South Vietnam 's
soldiers. Still, it is a pity that many veterans of the Vietnam War have
joined radical agitators, draft dodgers and smoke-screen politicians to besmirch
the honor of an army that can no longer defend itself. (This may have been
around before, but it's worth sending on just to be sure everyone has a chance
to see it and understand more of what went on in the war. The great majority of
Americans who served in Viet
Nam did so during times when the stories of
poor behavior by the ARVN were common, and before Vietnamization really took
hold and all the RVN armed forces improved dramatically. They fought battles in
1972 bigger than any we were in, and won, and it's important to know that. And
it's important to know that our Congress let them down hard, with cutbacks to
essential supplies that weakened them tremendously by 1975. Had we kept all our
promises to the South, chances are high that today there would be two Viet Nams , like there are two Koreas . Sadly, that did not happen,
and they paid very heavily for fighting the takeover by the communists. --Del )

History casts doubt
upon non-aggression pact with Iran .
By Victor Davis Hanson
Excerpt: In this supposed win-win deal, America does
not have to worry about another costly and unpopular preemptive military action
to stop proliferation. Iran keeps
its nuclear program. It makes lots of money and can apparently maintain its
ongoing support for global Islamic terrorism. Unfortunately, such pacts of
mutual advantage involving dictatorships do not have a good historical
pedigree.
Excerpt: A few years ago out in California a number of
liberal interests PACs spent some serious movie star money running public
opinion polls about the general public's views on giving driver's licenses to
illegal aliens. Although the results of the poll reflected a slight 51-49 bias
against it, the liberals were encouraged enough to put a proposition on the
ballot to do just that. As soon as that proposition won qualification for the
ballot, an opposing group drew up their own proposition against giving driver's
licenses to illegals. When the election came around Californians overwhelmingly
voted against illegal drivers licenses. Those liberal lobbyists up in Sacramento were stunned by
the lopsided defeat and wondered how their polling failed them.
