party-aligned conservative once regarded as a long-shot candidate, has won the
Republican runoff in Texas ,
where he will be the GOP nominee for the U.S. Senate in the November election.
The Associated Press has called the race for Cruz over Lt. Gov. David
Dewhurst. Cruz will be a heavy favorite over Democratic nominee Paul
Sadler, who also won a runoff on Tuesday. Cruz, an emerging

Study shows 'spurious doubling' of climate data
Excerpt: The [U.S. Historical Climatology Network] is one of the main metrics used to gauge the temperature changes in the United States . The first wide scale effort to address siting issues, Watts, (2009), a collated photographic survey, showed that approximately 90 percent of USHCN stations were compromised by encroachment of urbanity in the form of heat sinks and sources, such as concrete, asphalt, air conditioning system heat exchangers, roadways, airport tarmac, and other issues.
New study shows half of the global warming in the USA is artificial
Excerpt: The first wide scale effort to address siting issues, Watts, (2009), a collated photographic survey, showed that approximately 90% of USHCN stations were compromised by encroachment of urbanity in the form of heat sinks and sources, such as concrete, asphalt, air conditioning system heat exchangers, roadways, airport tarmac, and other issues. This finding was backed up by an August 2011 U.S. General Accounting Office investigation and report titled: Climate Monitoring: NOAA Can Improve Management of the U.S. Historical Climatology Network. (Where the thermometer is located may sound trivial, but it isn’t; it’s utterly vital to the whole process. The “urban-heat-island” effect has been known to meteorologists for decades and is used in predicting temperatures daily. Nearly all existing weather stations were sited more than 50 years ago in areas that then made sense. The first problem is in many cases, perhaps as many as 90% of cases, the character of the land use has changed in ways that now cause higher than actual temperature readings that couldn’t be duplicated just a short distance away. Not only does this skew the data, it impacts the “trends” used by computer modelers. When climate scientists put data into computer models, that data is never “raw.” They first massage that data to smooth out the sudden changes and, in theory at least, account for local peculiarities. This is the second problem. As nearly as anyone can tell—since all the models are considered proprietary, and thus kept secret—every current model is adjusting the data even warmer than the badly placed thermometers say it is. When one includes the expected inaccuracies of the available instruments of 100 to 150 years ago, you very quickly realize why these same computer models can’t predict the future with any hope of accuracy: the model can’t have any real idea where the weather was before, so it can’t predict based on it. Or, garbage in = garbage out. But, in this case, the garbage is determining where we will have to invest several trillion dollars along with our economic and political future both as a nation and as individuals. –Ron P.)
Obamacare promises doctors will be hard to find
Obamacare promises doctors will be hard to find
Excerpt: If you thought it was hard getting a doctor's appointment now, just wait until 30 million more Americans join the line. Nearly 3 in 4 California counties already lack a sufficient number of family physicians, and by 2020 the U.S. faces an estimated shortage of 40,000 primary-care doctors with no way to remedy that in just a few years.
And You Thought the Housing Crisis Was Over! By William Tucker
And You Thought the Housing Crisis Was Over! By William Tucker
Excerpt: Do you remember that thing about how the banks wouldn't lend to blacks and Hispanics because they were racists? And do you remember how they passed the Community Reinvestment Act so that banks were forced to reduce down payments practically to zero and lend to a lot of people they knew were bad credit risks? And do you remember how Wall Street bundled all these risky subprime mortgages and sold them to investors around the world so that when it became clear that those people weren't going to be able to pay their mortgages banks everywhere were left holding the bag and all five of the Wall Street investment houses either went under or had to be bailed out by the federal government?
Anxious Obama campaign plans high-dollar fall fundraising spree
Excerpt: President Obama will host a series of high-dollar fundraisers in the coming weeks and is expected to add more events than usual after the Democratic National Convention. The string of upcoming events reflects deep worry in Chicago about competing with the tidal wave of cash being raised by outside groups aimed at electing Mitt Romney. (Wonder what the saturation point is? ~Bob.)
Scathing GOP report on 'Fast and Furious' blames five ATF officials
Excerpt: Republican investigators pinned the failures of “Operation Fast and Furious” on five officials in the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in a scathing joint congressional draft report issued Monday evening. The 211-page draft report, obtained by The Hill, called on the Obama administration and the Senate to bolster the leadership of the ATF — which has been without a permanent director for six years — in order to move beyond the failed gun-tracking operation that led House Republicans to place Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress last month.
Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) is the activist Left’s number one congressional target this election cycle because he poses an existential threat to progressivism, a prominent professional left-wing organizer suggests. West is “a national rising star in the Tea Party,” Becky Bond explained during a panel discussion at the Campaign for America’s Future’s recent Take Back the American Dream confab in Washington, D.C. … “And he’s a freshman,” Bond said. “If we don’t take him down now, he’s raising millions of dollars, and he’s going to set what the new normal is for the Republican Party.”
Disdain for free enterprise, or incompetence? Both, if you ask me. By Congressman Allen West
Excerpt: The House of Representatives will vote this week on extending the current tax rates for ALL Americans. It is evident that President Obama and his Administration either has an utter disdain for free enterprise and the private sector or is incompetent in understanding how to set the right fiscal, economic, monetary, and regulatory policy conditions for economic growth, as evidenced by the anemic 1.5 percent GDP growth. Unfortunately it is my assessment that it is not one or the other but both. We have an Administration with less than 5 percent private sector experience. It seems the inept community organizer has failed. A second term? One must be stuck on stupid!
Allen West Doesn’t Always School CAIR Apologists, But When He Does…
Excerpt: The cuddly-named CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing case. It’s executive director, Nezar Hamze, tried to trap Rep. Allen West at a recent public meeting. That, as you’ll see in the video, was a mistake. (Video) (We’ve seen this before; wish powers that be would consider Mr. West for VP; he is American-born, understands national security and the Islamist threat. Refreshingly non-PC. –Barb)
'A Climate That Helps Us Grow': However the president's words about business are interpreted, his administration's policies have been hostile. By Paul H. Rubin
Excerpt: President Obama's riff on small business—"If you've got a business, you didn't build that, somebody else made that happen"—has become a major controversy. The Romney campaign has made this quote the subject of several speeches and ads, and there have been rallies all over the country of business people with signs saying that "I did build this business." Mr. Obama is now claiming that his words, delivered at a campaign stop in Roanoke , Va. , on July 13, were taken out of context.
Is Algebra Necessary?
Excerpt: A TYPICAL American school day finds some six million high school students and two million college freshmen struggling with algebra. In both high school and college, all too many students are expected to fail. Why do we subject American students to this ordeal? I’ve found myself moving toward the strong view that we shouldn’t. (The learned comments are, well, learned…and the soft comments only serve to prove the point. --George)
Who Knew Chicken Sandwiches Could Be So Funny?
Patriot Post humor. I love the one about gasoline and the one about Chicago values. ~Bob.
Big Lies in Politics. By Thomas Sowell
Excerpt: Perhaps the biggest lie of this election year, and the one likely to be repeated the most often, is that the income of "the rich" is going up, while other people's incomes are going down. If you listen to Barack Obama, you are bound to hear this lie repeatedly.
But the government's own Congressional Budget Office has just published a report whose statistics flatly contradict this claim.
Obama in '08: Jerusalem Will Remain Capitol of Israel
Guess he evolved. ~Bob.
WH: Romney is wrong — Jerusalem isn’t Israel ’s capital
Excerpt: President Obama’s press team responded to Mitt Romney’s declaration that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel with their most explicit statement on the issue in recent days: he’s wrong.
Federal Court finds Obama appointees interfered with New Black Panther prosecution
Excerpt: A federal court in Washington , DC , held last week that political appointees appointed by President Obama did interfere with the Department of Justice’s prosecution of the New Black Panther Party.
Excerpt: Virginia for the third straight time ended its budget year with a surplus, though the extra $129 million is less than past surpluses. (Republican run. ~Bob.)
Ten inconvenient truths about the national debt. By David Gibberman
Excerpt: The amount by which the public debt — the portion of the national debt not borrowed by the U.S. government from funds it administers — has increased since President Obama took office is unprecedented, not politics as usual: more than $4.75 trillion (more than 75%), according to the Treasury Department. If the president’s second-term budget is implemented, he will end up (according to the Congressional Budget Office) increasing the public debt by $8.9 trillion. That exceeds the public debt incurred by all previous presidents combined — by more than $2.6 trillion.
Hillary, Soros, Alinsky, and Rush. By Kyle-Anne Shiver
Excerpt: For the past couple of months, I've been reading up on the Clinton/Soros connection into the wee hours of every night. Ever since George Soros slipped through the backdoor to American political power at the tawdry invitation of Bill and Hillary Clinton, he has carpet-bagged his way to the Democrat Party inner circle and has become the "biggest political fat cat of all time." (As Santayana said, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." --Barb.)
Congressional report names five ATF figures in Fast and Furious scandal, reveals related murder. By Matthew Boyle
Excerpt: A forthcoming congressional report names five senior officials from the Department of Justice’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives as being ultimately responsible for Operation Fast and Furious……The second report, investigators write, will chronicle the “devastating failure of supervision and leadership by officials at Justice Department headquarters, principally within the Office of the Deputy Attorney General, and within the Criminal Division” and the third “will address the unprecedented obstruction of the investigation by the highest levels of the Justice Department, including the Attorney General himself.”
Charlie Daniels: Hillary would have been a better president than Obama. By Matthew Boyle
Excerpt: Country music star Charlie Daniels told The Daily Caller on Monday he thinks Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would have been a better president than Barack Obama, even though he’s hardly a fan of either. Daniels said he thinks Obama has surrounded himself with an inner circle of policy and political novices, something that isn’t conducive to running a tight ship inside the White House.
HHS Sued For Records Detailing Grant To The National Council Of La Raza
Excerpt: The fact that the National Council of La Raza openly advocates for illegal alien sanctuary policies, such as drivers’ licenses and discounted tuition for illegal aliens, is no secret. But what many people do not realize is that the organization has also been linked to the Mexican reconquista movement, which seeks to conquer the American Southwest and return it to Mexico . …. According to a Judicial Watch investigation, federal funding for the National Council of La Raza nearly tripled from $4.1 million to $11 million in FY 2010, the year Muñoz joined the Obama administration. (Per article, “HHS was required by law to respond no later than January 26, 2012. However, as of the date of Judicial Watch’s lawsuit, HHS has failed to respond in accordance with FOIA law.” Sound familiar? –Barb)
Is Chicago Pol Moreno Sharing His Public Office With Obama’s Campaign? By Rebel Pundit
Excerpt: Last Wednesday, Alderman Joe “Proco” Moreno of Chicago ’s 1st Ward declared he was invoking “aldermanic privilege” to stop Chick-fil-A from moving forward with plans to open a restaurant. ….Given that the Obama campaign advertises the Alderman’s official office address as its address, the lack of any distinguishing separate address numbers on the “campaign office,” the lack of any activity or supplies in this “campaign office,” and the presence of an Obama poster, is it possible that Moreno’s official city office is doubling as a campaign office for both the Alderman and President Obama’s campaign?
Federal Court: DOJ Official May Have Lied About the New Black Panther Case
Excerpt: In a little noted decision on July 23, a federal district court judge concluded that internal DOJ documents about the New Black Panther Party voter intimidation case “contradict Assistant Attorney General [Thomas] Perez’s testimony that political leadership was not involved in” the decision to dismiss the case. In other words, the sworn testimony of Perez, the Obama political appointee who heads the Civil Rights Division, before the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights was apparently false. (Score 1 for J. Christian Adams. –Barb)
House to consider eliminating Senate confirmation for presidential appointees. By Alex Pappas
Excerpt: The House of Representatives is set to consider legislation Tuesday that would exempt certain presidential appointees from having to be confirmed by the Senate. But a number of conservative groups are arguing that the “Presidential Efficiency and Streamlining Act” amounts to Congress neutering itself and giving the executive branch unprecedented power.
The Obama administration’s war on whistleblowers. By Brian Kelly
Excerpt: However, the Obama administration has already charged six people under the Espionage Act, more than every previous administration combined. …Each of those charged were government workers who are being prosecuted for unmasking government boondoggles, botched foreign relations, and unflattering internal procedures — not for revealing any information that threatens the wellbeing of the nation. Jeffrey Sterling, an ex-C.I.A. officer, was indicted for leaking information about Operation Merlin, which was subsequently used in “State of War ,” a book by New York Times reporter James Risen.
House voting on bill to fire federal workers owing combined $1 billion in taxes. By Nicholas Ballasy
Excerpt: The House of Representatives is expected to vote on a bill sponsored by Utah Republican Rep. Jason Chaffetz that would terminate federal employees with “seriously delinquent tax debts.” According to the most recent IRS data, over 100,000 federal employees owe a combined $1.03 billion in taxes. The number rises to $3.4 billion when retirees and military personnel who have not paid their taxes are included.
So You Think you want a revolution? By Gary DeMar
Excerpt: A number of people I’ve spoken with on the subject believe that things have to get worse before they get better. The assumption here is that things will get better if America falls apart. When this happens, so the argument goes, the people will rise up and throw off their oppressors, like they did during the Russian and Cuban revolutions. Those revolutions turned out well, didn’t they?
2nd Amendment proves valid defense against black gangs. By Colin Flaherty, Author of White Girl Bleed a Lot.
Excerpt: Schenkel survived the ensuing assault with no major broken bones. A few minutes later, the mob’s next victim was not so fortunate: They left him beaten, bloody and unconscious. Roger McBride and Lulu Campbell did not want to depend on luck. They used a gun. It may have saved their lives. It certainly kept them from harm. (Obama, Holder and this entire administration's mind set are the reason for this rise in black on white violence. Holder's 'people' were told as soon as he got control of the DOJ that they could do whatever they wanted, because he had their backs - all of them. This is as wicked, sick and evil as it gets..............and watch out in predominantly white voting precincts on Nov. 6. Holder's 'people' could be out in force. What's to stop them, after all? –DH)
What the Marine Corps Taught Me Can Be Seen Every Day in FedEx. By Frederick W. Smith
Excerpt: When people ask what principles have guided me since I started the FedEx Corporation 35 years ago, my answer often startles them: It’s the leadership tenets that I learned in the U.S. Marine Corps during my service in Vietnam. That may not be the response you’d expect to hear in a Harvard Business School course.

Excerpt: The Supreme Court on Monday signaled its interest in resolving a clash over the constitutionality of laws that authorize police to take DNA samples from people who have been arrested but haven't been convicted of a crime. Chief Justice John Roberts Jr. suspended an April ruling by Maryland's highest court that struck down one such law.

(The beauty of Shari’a Law, supported by all right-thinking multiculturalists and trans-national progressives. ~Bob.)
Worth Reading: Culture Is Not Race, Mr. Erekat. By Charles C. W. Cooke
Excerpt: Likewise, many Indians were incensed by British general Charles Napier who took a stand against the Hindu practice of “sati,” an ancient practice by which widows were routinely burned alive on the funeral pyres of their husbands. When banning the practice, Napier told the incensed locals: “You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well! We also have a custom. When men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks, and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre. Beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”
Excerpt: OK, now that I can actually see this Daily Caller article I’m not sure that I buy it:…largely because I have a definite dislike of anonymous allegations, particularly when they’re not backed up by any other evidence. I find it at least mildly difficult to believe that people would have been able to keep this a secret for this long; this isn’t the Bush administration, which means that there’s no inherent loyalty there.
“Book bombshell: Obama canceled Bin Laden ‘kill’ raid three times at Jarrett’s urging”
Excerpt: I think Miniter is being a little tough on the President here, frankly. And that’s because Obama had a very good reason for delaying the kill mission: namely, that Valerie Jarrett can be quite unpleasant — hell, downright mean — when she doesn’t get her way. And it weren’t all of us she was gonna be bitching at for those next several months.
Napolitano: Terrorists Enter U.S. from Mexico ‘From Time to Time’

Over the past four days, a series of Syrian delegations — including 20 senior military commanders, Deputy Prime Minister Omar Ghalavanji and Foreign Minister Walid al-Muaalim — have visited Tehran to probe the latest twists and turns in Iranian thinking.
Inconvenient truth: Romney right on Palestinians. By John Podhoretz
Excerpt: The Palestinians? They’ve created what the House Foreign Affairs Committee has called a “chronic kleptocracy,” with foreign aid and investment shamelessly stolen and diverted to the bank accounts of the leaders of the Palestinian Authority and its gangsterish local strongmen.

Iran has spent $1 million to establish and fund the camp, according to the report. Training began over the weekend.
Pakistani Owner of Swanky Santa Monica Hotel: “Get the [expletive] Jews out of my Pool.” By: Lori Lowenthal Marcus
Excerpt: An upscale hotel on a Santa Monica, California, beach is an odd place to be singled out from a crowd and removed because you are Jewish, but that’s what happened to 18 young professionals who are telling their story to a jury in a discrimination trial taking place in Santa Monica Superior Court this week.
Hedge-fund manager, Obama donor, embroiled in nine-figure lawsuit with Louisiana pension funds
Excerpt: Prominent hedge-fund manager and Obama donor Alphonse “Buddy” Fletcher is embroiled in a legal battle with three Louisiana-based pension funds seeking to recoup a $100 million investment with his firm. Fletcher, who operates a series of hedge funds—some of which are based in the Cayman Islands and reportedly oversee as much as $500 million in assets—contributed at least $2,300 to Obama’s campaign in 2008 and $50,000 to the president’s inauguration fund.

Obama Donates $5k to Himself
Excerpt: President Obama has donated to his own campaign for the first time. Politico reports that the president donated $5000 to his own campaign, and then emailed his supporters that he made the donation “as a gesture.” The $5k donation from the president, who has a history of making bad investments in questionable enterprises, meets the individual maximum that one person can donate to one campaign, but candidates may give an unlimited amount to their own campaigns. (He’ll be sorry. They’ll bury him in mail, phone calls and e-mails asking for more. ~Bob.)
Veil lifted on Muslim rape epidemic. By Bob Unruh
Excerpt: For years there have been reports on blogs, personal testimonials and the like, about what looked like a literal epidemic of rape by Muslim men of both women and children, especially in northern European nations where the Muslim immigrant population is high. But the disturbing reports rarely rose to the level that would make the general population aware of the dangers that were becoming evident. After all, such a report would be blasted for attacking Islam and discriminating against Muslims.
New farm bill: Welfare in disguise
Excerpt: Lawmakers frequently claim they want to rein in spending. But the Senate’s recent failure to make any meaningful cuts to the farm bill speaks loudly to the contrary. Notably, 16 Senate Republicans — the purported party of smaller government — voted in favor of it.
Liberal Media Fabricate Another ‘Scandal’
Excerpt: In the media world, saying you believe in something is tantamount to stating unequivocally that you despise anything and anyone that disagrees with you. If you’re pro-life, then you must hate women. If you’re a fiscal conservative, then you must hate seniors because you want to get rid of their social security.
Electricity grids fail across half of India
Excerpt: Electric crematoria were snuffed out with bodies inside, New Delhi's Metro shut down and hundreds of coal miners were trapped underground after three Indian electric grids collapsed in a cascade Tuesday, cutting power to 620 million people in the world's biggest blackout. (Could this be a coming "good" crisis not to waste for the US to declare marshal law? --Jer)
Obama uses word "terrorize" for Aurora murders but not for Fort Hood jihad
Excerpt: Pamela Geller makes this extraordinary observation: When Obama spoke about the shooting in Aurora, he used the word “terrorize,” a word he never used when Nidal Hasan killed 13 of our serviceman in a jihad attack at Fort Hood. That was "workplace violence." Obama knows what he is doing. He wants to drive home the point that "terror" is not Islamic. The Colorado shooting is terror, but Fort Hood is not.
Qaedat al-Jihad claims responsibility for Burgas attack

Excerpt: “….and then the National Health Service thing came. … I mean, the people of Great Britain don't even like the National Health Service! And then it hit me, and then it hit me. . …They did it for Obama. …I mean, they had the cover of doing this and honoring Great Britain, the opening ceremony, but we got a presidential election coming up, three checks away for you welfare recipients, and they honor the National Health Service, and we're in the midst of a giant controversy.

Excerpt: The Obama administration quietly released a new budget report Friday afternoon at a time calculated to make sure it received minimal attention. …That will bring our national debt to $16.2 trillion by the end of the fiscal year. The more worrisome number in the new report is the estimated national debt at the end of the current 10-year budget widow.
Evolution Complete: Dems to Adopt Same-Sex Marriage Platform, Report Says
Excerpt: Yesterday, the Democratic Party platform drafters approved language that would make same-sex marriage a plank in the platform. According to Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA), an openly gay congressman who sits on the committee, the 15-member panel universally supported the same-sex marriage plank. “I was part of a unanimous decision to include it,” Frank explained. On Death and Palestinian Culture
Excerpt: But just imagine the outcry if a sitting government official described Palestinians as developing methods "of death and death-seeking. For the Palestinian people death has become an industry at which women excel." If a passing reference to "culture" set off Palestinian ire, what might they say about an official saying death is a Palestinian "industry?" In this case, the comment drew no criticism. It came from Hamas MP Fathi Hammad in remarks broadcast on Hamas' Al-Aqsa television in 2008.
