Random Thoughts for July,
2018.
By Robert A. Hall
Feel free to post or forward.
So, ABC fired Rosanne for sending a racist tweet. What about
her “Freedom of Speech” that the NFL players union demands for themselves from
their employers? Will they protest her firing?
Hate speech. n. Anything you say that a liberal disagrees
with.
Inanimate objects can sense when I don’t feel well and stop
cooperating with me.
To go into politics today, you must have a huge ego and
ambition to survive the endless calumny, that would make a masochist run up the
white flag.
The media has an uncanny ability to ignore news that doesn’t
fit their preferred narrative.
Everyone’s against sin. And everyone (including the clergy
of the various religions) has a different idea as to what sin is. I like Robert
Heinlein’s definition, that sin is hurting other people unnecessarily, that
hurting yourself isn’t sin, just stupid. I would add failing to prevent harm to
others that you could prevent.
Apparently, there is a lot of money to be made selling
shallow theology to shallow people.
Tattoos are graffiti on the temple of the body.
In Wisconsin, “Formal” means clean, un-ripped jeans and a
clean tee shirt without an offensive slogan. Usually.
Some girls would be very pretty if they’d wash off all the
makeup, get normal eyebrows and let their hair go to its natural color in a
simple style.
For her birthday, we took my step-daughter and her family to
an Indian restaurant they like. Amazingly, the Indian owners and employees
seemed very glad to see us, not upset about cultural appropriation at all. Same
thing happens when we go to Chinese, Thai or Mexican restaurants. They should
all be mad at us, according to the snowflakes, but they seem happy to have us.
Can’t figure it out.
Progressives believe in science. Unless the scientific
evidence doesn’t agree with their PC world view. Which is why vaccination
refusal rates are highest in areas that vote hard left.
If you think you don’t eat GMOs, you are fooling yourself.
Everything we eat has as some point in the past been genetically modified by
human adopting mutations that were better and selective or cross breading.
Which is why we all eat almonds, but wild almonds (not genetically modified)
are deadly poison. But now that science can make people’s lives better by
adopting these modifications in the lab, like “Golden Rice” which will benefit
millions, many are worried about genetic modifications. Especially
progressives.
It often seems as if man’s primary pastimes are
self-medication, self-stimulation and self-flagellation.
I’m glad I wasn’t rich as a kid. But that now that I’m way
to old for it to spoil my character, I’d like to give it a try.
Tee shirt at the VA: “I’m mentally constipated. I haven’t
given a shit in years.”
Badass comeback from the net: “While pumping my gas one day a
nice looking 19 or 20-year-old female apparently noticed a veteran bumper
sticker on my car (I'm an old white bearded Viet Nam vet) and she asked if I
was a veteran. I said, “Yes,” and she asked, “Really? Which side, Union or
Confederacy?” That girl knew how to hurt a guy!” –GF
Wonder how the NFL celebrates Flag Day?
Maybe with more yellow flags?
If you were to get everything you
want in material possessions, you would soon want more. The old saying that “Contentment
is Wealth” is true.
Recruit your armies where you can.
When I got out of the Marines and went to a community college, I wanted to go
into politics and decided for practice to run for student government. Problem
was, I was four years older than the other kids and didn’t know anybody, while
the freshman class had three main cliques, kids who knew each other from the
three area high schools. So, I went around and built my own clique, the fat
girl that no one talked to, the nerdy kid with pimples, kids who didn’t go to
one of those schools. And I won. Coming in second was a girl from the largest
high school who thought she knew everyone.
Joseph Sobran:
‘Need’ now means wanting someone else’s money. ‘Greed’ means wanting
to keep your own. ‘Compassion’ is when a politician arranges the
transfer.”
transfer.”
America is addicted to sugar. If you put enough sugar in it,
you could sell bottled piss.
Stupidity is not a crime. But it lends itself to many things
that are. Or should be.
The reason universities discriminate against Asians is the
same as the reason they used to discriminate against Jews. They are trying to
eliminate “Bright Privilege.”
Many people are born without a sense of urgency and go
through life coping with things undone that create problems and with
disappointed and angry people who have to interact with them.
I’ve said before, “Whom the gods would destroy, they first
give a sense of entitlement.” No where is that better illustrated than in the
fall of high-ranking folks in Washington for feathering their own nests.
In this world, there is no “ever after,” happy or not.
Plants die, animals die, people die, building crumble or are replaced, and
organizations and institutions eventually die. Including the American Republic.
The question is not “if,” but “when?”
I notice that all the Vietnam veterans I know are getting
old. This must be caused by Agent Orange and we are all entitled to
compensation.
Never date anyone with jailhouse tattoos (the homemade
kind).
GMOs are the new Fluoride in the drinking water.
If we could just declare illegal aliens to be an invasive
species, the liberal environmentalists would demand they be extirpated.
Want to have some fun? Ask Black Lives Matter protesters who
William Wilberforce and William Lloyd Garrison were.
“He has bottom.” This is an old compliment for a man, like “He
has sand.’ It meant the guy had grit, determination, strength, character, and
was solid. It has fallen into such disuse that one cannot find it with Google.
Perhaps because so few men “have bottom” today.
You can’t reason with an annoying tickle in your throat. A lot
of people are like that too.
Liberal media rushed to blame to Annapolis shooter on Trump’s
tweets about the media. No apologies when it was discovered that he shooter had
been threatening the paper for five years. Typical. They are driving people to
Trump.
