A few items today. The stupidity of Obama spending money to
close open-air, unattended memorials, because Congress hasn't passed a SPENDING
BILL, just to be vicious to vets, has driven me beyond the rational.. I am just
very angry. ~Bob
Excerpt: The first operation took
place Saturday in the Libyan capital of Tripoli ,
when U.S. forces captured Abu Anas al Libi,
an al Qaeda leader wanted for his role in the deadly 1998 bombings of two U.S. embassies in Africa .
In the second raid, a team of U.S. Navy SEALs in southern Somalia targeted leader of Al-Shabaab, which was
behind last month's mall attack in Kenya . The SEALs came under fire
and had to withdraw before they could confirm if the leader was dead, a senior U.S. official
said.
Excerpt: Al Qaeda's affiliate in East Africa claimed it
repelled a nighttime raid by Western special operations forces in the southern
Somali coastal town of Barawe .
The location of the purported raid is the same town where a top al Qaeda and
Shabaab commander was killed by US special operations forces four years ago. "Local
witnesses reported on VOA Somali Service that unidentified foreign troops 'came
from the coast with boats and helicopters' and raided a house in Barawe
around 2am local time Saturday morning," according to Garowe Online.
Accurate: Obama flips America the bird
Excerpt: This has gone beyond absurd. First we have the
spectacle of WW II veterans being denied access to the WW II Memorial, an open
air monument that never closes and is never specifically attended by anyone
except the normal Park Police patrol. The patrol goes on by the way. It took
added manpower to erect barriers to the monument. More insane still, the Park
Police erected barriers to parking lots on federal land that serve the
privately-managed and funded Mount Vernon ,
home of America 's
first president, George Washington. Finally, they shuttered a privately-owned
and financed museum resting on park land in northern Virginia . This was the first time the museum
was closed in 40 years. Let me repeat that: they use NO government dollars but
were ordered to shut down anyway by law enforcement officers.
Excerpt: "I took the picture yesterday afternoon. Those
barricades had been there at least a day. People can still walk into the
Memorial area, but for many elderly and disabled vets, it is important they be
driven and park right next to the statue," the person who took this
picture emails. (Those bastards in the White House tried to close down the open
air Iwo Jima Memorial. The Marines kicked aside those barriers to freedom like
they have since 1775. When will they ever learn: Don't F*** with the
Marines. Semper Fi. --Bob McC. I fear they are egging people on to open
insurrection and violence, so they can get rough. the government has been shut
down before. I don't recall them spending extra money to provoke people by
closing off open air, usually-unattended memorials. The left has always loved civil disobedience.
It's time to give them some! ~Bob.)
The 12th and 13th may
get interesting in DC
North Country Honor Flight needs your support for our
WW-II veterans on Saturday October 12th at the Iwo Jima Monument .
We have access to the WW-II Memorial but our WW-II USMC heroes are being
denied the right to visit the Iwo
Monument . Please be there
at1500 on 10/12 to support these vets. Semper Fi to all USMC vets.

Join fellow veterans at the war memorials in Washington DC
on Sunday October 13th at 9 AM. These memorials belong to the American
veterans and people! We are all military brats, current and former military
spouses and some veterans. We cannot express how utterly disappointed we were
that our Greatest Generation were being used as political pawns in the ongoing
government shutdown and budget crisis. This should never be the case. We do not
care what political leanings you may be; be it liberal, conservative, Democrat,
Republican, Libertarian, Independent or whatever. The actions of the U.S. government this week with regard to
barricading and shutting down the World War II Memorial to veterans, that may
or may not be on their last trip to Washington
DC , is a despicable act of
cowardice. (More on activities at memorials. This seems to be gathering steam,
next weekend it may get interesting at the memorials. If the Democrats in
Congress remain adamant about not backing off on these incredibly stupid games.

Mount Rushmore
blockage stirs anger in South Dakota
Barring visitors from view an unexpected effect of shutdown
Excerpt: Blocking access to trails and programs at South Dakota ’s most popular attraction was one thing, but
state officials didn’t expect Congress’ budget stalemate to shut down a view of
Mount Rushmore . (The Federal government is
wasting tax payer funds to close off areas just so they can say "look what
the Republicans are doing by shutting down government." Unfortunately for
these tyrants, some people still have a brain. --Don Hank)
NBC: Police Remove Vietnam War Veterans at Memorial Wall.
By John Mccormack
http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/nbc-police-remove-vietnam-war-veterans-memorial-wall_759267.html
Excerpt: After one group of
veterans went around the barricade, "the park ranger told them the wall
was closed," NBC's Mark Seagraves reported. "Later another group of
vets showed up and moved the barricades. At that point, the memorial filled
with vets and tourists. That's when police came and moved everyone out."
(And the morons behind closing memorials did remember us after all. Yep,
spending the time and money to put barricades on a sidewalk and keeping it
manned despite the supposed cutbacks. Spending more money to deny
Americans access to open air memorials than it takes to just leave them alone. Talk
about "Stuck On Stupid". --Del )
A crowd to open The
Wall on Monday
Many thousands live in and around Washington , D.C..............hell they could
be there today.........In a month the government will have set a precedent they
can do anything and get away with it. The bastards can disrespect a blood
soaked memorial and close it? B.S. It’s pure political theater and one thing
warriors don’t stand for and that’s being used as political pawns.......blood,
life, limb, and family destruction takes no back seat to a bunch of sniveling
politicians...........and most especially Barack Obama............ We need a Viet
Nam memorial crowd by the hundreds if not thousands by Monday, 7
October to open the Viet Nam Veteran memorial...........The Viet Nam
Memorial must be reopened and it must done without delay. --Harry Riley. I pass
this on for all those who live near DC. Col Riley may be right, and getting any
sort of a crowd of vets to The Wall on Monday might work, especially
if any of the media cover it. --Del
Vets at the memorial:
Showing us what it means to be American. By Diana West
Excerpt: A question Americans should answer for themselves
is the one I am thinking through while standing at the National World War II
Memorial on the Washington Mall this week. What kind of president doesn't do
everything he can to ensure that the elderly American men in wheelchairs I see
before me don't have access to "their" memorial -- even during a
government shutdown? And when I say "their" memorial, I am not only
referring to their World War II veteran status. This memorial cost $182 million
to build; $197 million was raised privately (the extra money remains in a
memorial fund). This non-government money came not only from corporations and
wealthy individuals, but also from a long list of veterans groups. (A
nicely pointed discussion of the situation with that idiotic move of building
barricades to open air memorials which were due to be visited by long-arranged
visits of aging veterans. While I doubt if Mr. Obama himself had this idea and
personally told people to do this, that it happened on his watch tells everyone
a great deal about the kind of thinking that goes on among all his advisors and
subordinates. And whether he ever said a word about barricades to memorials or
not, that buck stops on his desk. In truth, this is one of those things that I
would never have believed anyone could be stupid enough to do, it's something
that hardly any of us could have made up on a dare. Locking the doors to a
museum building, that is, one built and maintained by federal funds, would be
defensible, if still a bit foolish. But not having money to run anything, yet
having money and manpower to build barricades to places as open as a sidewalk
in a city is just so deeply crazy that it takes the mind a while to really
comprehend it. If I were Mr. Obama's best golfing partner, I'd have called him
up and said, "Barack, you need to jump on this, find out who ordered the
barricades, reprimand them publicly and assure all Americans that their open
air memorials will never be interfered with by federal bureaucrats. (Most
especially memorials built without a dime of federal funding!) Those who don't
like Mr. Obama want to find the mentally challenged yahoos who ordered the
barricades and send them flowers and fruit baskets. They have caused the
country to focus on idiocy within the Administration in a way that real Far
Right people would have paid serious money to arrange. --Del )
Excerpt: Our government is out of control. First, it was the
World War II veterans who had to break down barriers to see the open air,
un-attended memorial erected in their honor. A memorial which is on public land
but is supported – including the National Park Service fee – with private funds. This week there was more
security surrounding this memorial — just to keep elderly veterans out — than
there was at our embassy in Benghazi
the night it was attacked. And for what? To inflict as much pain as possible
through this government shutdown. It’s called Washington
Monument Syndrome, and it’s pure political theater. (This article is
largely accurate, but later posts revealed that two of the places where it was
thought there'd be no Mass there will in fact be Mass held. This is
because there are on-post priests there. But all the places where priests
were hired as outside contractors, they cannot say Mass even if they are
perfectly willing to do so as a volunteer. That's the bureaucracy in action. They
are so efficient about this, it makes one wonder why they can't be as efficient
about so many things that in fact are important. --Del )

Obamacare Facebook
Erupts With Citizen Sticker Shock
Excerpt: On Thursday, the government's official
Obamacare Facebook page was riddled with people expressing sticker
shock over the government's high cost premiums after struggling for hours to
wade through the technical failures vexing Obamacare exchanges all across the
country. "I am so disappointed," wrote one woman. "These prices
are outrageous and there are huge deductibles. No one can afford this!"
The comment received 169 "likes." ... Obamacare will cost
taxpayers an estimated $2.6
trillion over the next 10 years. (That's only the subsidies. The extra
costs of the insurance to each individual will add up to a lot more than that.
And that figure is based on the assumption that health care costs will not
go up at all. In fact, they are rising at 9% annually so expect
$5 trillion or more, and that is all borrowed money no one
will ever be able to pay back. Wait til the Fed stops printing and
bond buyers figure out it is a Ponzi scheme. The future is not so
rosy for our kids. I still keep hearing from provocateurs that Putin is trying
to pull a fast one on the Western world. However, not one of these Putin haters
can tell me one lie that he has told in public. Yet our government lies to us
every day and thinks we are so stupid that we can't figure it out. Who
is really pulling a fast one? --Don Hank)
When Liberals Run Cities. By John C. Goodman
Excerpt: What happened in New York
40 years ago is not all that dissimilar to what has been happening in Detroit . As that city
inched toward its own fiscal cliff, city services deteriorated, taxes rose and
taxpayers fled. Now we learn that while all that was going on millions of
dollars were being looted from city workers' pension funds.
Excerpt: The local media are busy generating as many
"government shutdown" human interest stories as they can these days. From
lake closures to piss off the fishing crowd to couples having to cancel their Grand Canyon wedding plans, the level of heartbreak is
played out over two hours of local and national news venues. Perhaps the most
heartbreaking was a welfare queen who was interviewed this morning on a local Phoenix channel. Pregnant
with her seventh child, no father at home, she was bemoaning the delays in her
WIC payments. As both diapered and undiapered toddlers flitted about her, she
cried giant crocodile tears as she cursed the nasty Republicans who have shut
her off from her $232 per child weekly stipend to support six and one half
children who's various fathers have refuse to do.

We Are Not Coming
Back
I agree with
most of what this rabbi has written, with a few exceptions. One being that,
"the American empire began to decline in 2007". In my opinion, the
decline began (probably) with FDR, and had slowly gained momentum over the
decades, until it reached the point of no return with the election of Obama in
2007. I also agree that the America
we knew is gone, never to return. The constitution no longer defines what the
government can and cannot do, as Obama has proven time and time again. The
worst example being Obamacare, which is clearly unconstitutional, despite what
the John Roberts supreme court says. The best we can hope for now is a
European-type socialism, but we will more probably wind up with a Venezuelan or
Cuban style communism. - LLW. Could even be worse, with the country breaking up
in to many area, lawless or run by local gang warlords. ~Bob.
