Facebook and Linked In: I appreciate all the folks commenting on my Facebook page, but I don’t do Facebook. I used it to promote my books, but that failed as all the comments pushed the books down the page and thus I gave up. I would delete my page, but it is useful to sign into some websites with. Likewise, I have never used Linked In for anything except to link to people who asked. I have no idea what good it is. It’s nice that people keep endorsing me for things on it, but of little value as I’m being forced to retire. I really have no time or energy for either. Sorry. I’m having to rest and sleep more these days.
Thanks to all who stepped up and sent today’s great items—a LONG list. Since I haven’t had the time or energy to search for the type of things I used to post, it seems more folks are sending me more items. ~Bob
Must read: Hanson at his best: Life In The Twilight. By Victor Davis Hanson
Excerpt: Go to sleep in 2009 and wake up now. The world has changed: golf is the people’s game; racist, sexist, homophobic thought and speech are predicated on the ideology of who says it; the IRS, the NSA, and the Justice Department are watching you; the State Department is run like a campaign organization; the president offers politically correct thoughts on local trials; the attorney general worries about “my people”; the government is producing more oil and gas by trying to stop it; wind and solar are the way of the future; gropes and pornography are either career-ending or cause for needed sabbaticals; and high unemployment, debt, and low growth are proof of a robust recovery. The model of our future will be a landscape like Detroit , as those on MSNBC or on NPR find ever more clever ways to assure us that the city is “saved” from the free-market capitalist and racist buccaneers.
Walter Lee Jones II was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis (PF) at the age of 28. A devoted father of two young sons, and ecstatic about his third son on the way.
And dead at 29. If you hear me complain about having PF at 67 and being on the lung transplant list, it’s okay to smack me in the snot-locker. ~Bob

Excerpt: Police in New York City are trying to find a black man wearing a hoodie who is responsible for a horrific attack on a teenage white girl who was stabbed 11 times just steps from her front door. The knife-wielding maniac ambushed Natasha Martinez, 17, as she returned home from working her shift at a local McDonald’s restaurant. (Waiting comment from the President. Whose daughter could she have been? Whose son could the attacker have been? ~Bob.)
The Hazards of Gloating Over Detroit . By Chris Ladd
Excerpt: When right-wing blogs blather on about “government dependence,” they evoke images of impoverished urban masses trapped in a cycle of poverty. They consistently fail to identify the demographic most thoroughly dependent on government – inhabitants of the deep red rural counties. Rural residents depend on food stamps (SNAP) at almost a 50% higher rate than city-dwellers.
There's only one way to free Bradley Manning. By Archbishop Cranmer
Excerpt: The strongest suspicion is that within all such demonstrations there is a heavy bias against a theoretical notion of America . We may all smile at Middle-Eastern protests about 'the Great Satan', but many in Europe have a speaking sympathy for the notion even as many would cheerfully take up the offer of a Green Card if one were offered tomorrow. One suspects that the Islamic fundamentalist and modern PC puritans alike have an innate dislike and distrust of a nation that uniquely places 'the pursuit of happiness' as a living objective in its foundational documents.
Who Cares What Jay Z Thinks and Why Don Lemon Is Right About Blacks In America . By Chrystal Wright
Excerpt: This fake race war also brought out the worst behavior in black Americans who called people like me and Don Lemmon, “house niggas, sellouts, and Uncle Toms” among other unsavory names for daring to offer constructive criticism and say blacks are their own worst nightmare and need to take responsibility for their bad behavior!
He Beat Allen West And All He Got Was The Most Boring Job In Congress. By Ben Terris
Excerpt: Standing on an outdoor stage for the better part of a half an hour has left Rep. Patrick Murphy completely soaked in sweat. "It's fucking hot out," he says, flapping his arms to dry out his armpits. This may be his only off-script moment this morning.
Excerpt: Churches across San Antonio are expressing outrage over a proposed anti-discrimination law that would protect LGBT workers but would not provide a religious exemption and would effectively prohibit anyone who opposes homosexuality from holding public office or getting a city contract. The proposed change would add “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” to the city’s discrimination ordinance. It would protect gays, lesbians, transgender, and veterans – a move that had critics accusing the council of playing politics with the military.
Excerpt: The city is all out of money, and with an imploding public education system and harrowing levels of violence, it is losing residents fast. Illinois, which itself lost more than 800,000 people to out-migration in the past two decades, is essentially Chicago on a larger scale, with hundreds of billions in unfunded pension liabilities and complete political sclerosis. The state cannot bail out Chicago , and judging by the feds’ reluctance to even lift a finger for Detroit , Chicago shouldn’t expect much more.
Excerpt: America's leading Muslim Brotherhood legacy groups, including the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and the Islamic Circle of America (ICNA), are demanding that the Obama administration take punitive action against Egypt in the wake of last week's shooting of Muslim Brotherhood demonstrators.
From your Facebook passwords to Section 8 housing… why Barack Obama should be impeached for dismantling the very Constitution he swore to preserve, protect and defend.
Excerpt: Despite all of that, one has to wonder, does Barack Obama not actually understand the document he has spent a quarter century studying, teaching and “defending” or is he some kind of self directed progressive Manchurian Candidate? Whichever is the case, one thing is unassailable, Barack Obama is a using the power of the presidency to eviscerate the Bill of Rights. Not the whole thing mind you, but enough to turn the granite foundation of American freedom into a termite ridden balsa wood floor that could give way at any moment.
Excerpt NPR’s politics blog has published a chart — compiled from a House Ways and Means staff analysis — of the different levels of IRS targeting between conservative and progressive groups. Bottom line? Far more conservative groups faced IRS scrutiny, they faced more questions, and were approved at a much lower rate than progressives. The chart is based on the IRS’s now-discredited “BOLO” (be on the lookout) lists.
President Obama calls the United States and Europe ‘developing countries’ in latest embarrassing gaffe
Excerpt: As we’ve seen on a number of previous occasions, Barack Obama clearly struggles with his words when he is without his beloved teleprompter. He famously claimed to have visited 57 states in his 2008 campaign, and recently was unable to tell the difference between England and Great Britain . I don’t think any American president, however, has ever referred to the United States, leader of the free world, as a “developing country” before, and nor is Europe a country, as much as the emperors of the European Commission would like the EU to be a superstate. (You have to understand, they are developing into Caliphate dominoes. Or maybe our economies and militaries are being reduced and destroyed to make all equal? –Barb)
White House: Jimmy Carter Taking 'Private Trip' to North Korea
The White House confirmed on Monday that former U.S. President Jimmy Carter is traveling to North Korea , but sought to distance itself from his visit, calling it a “private trip.” White House spokesman Josh Earnest referred all additional questions to the State Department. “I can tell you that President Carter istraveling to North Korea on a private trip,” Earnest said.

Leader: 'Open Season' on Nigerian Chris tians by Islamists
Excerpt: Chris tians in Nigeria are an endangered species, according to Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, president of the Chris tian Association of Nigeria. Oritsejafor met this week with U.S. lawmakers, pleading for help in combating the Islamist groups, which have mercilessly attacked Chris tian communities for the past several years – makingNigeria one of the most dangerous places in the world for Chris tians….In 2012, more than 100 Chris tians died on average each month in northern Nigeria , many by members of the Jihad group.
At least ten Nazi war criminals who were to be deported are still living in the U.S. - because no European country will take them
At least ten Nazi war criminals who were ordered deported by the United States government never left the country, the Associated Press reported Monday – because no country was willing to take them in. During the lengthy legal process to deport them, and even beyond, the government provided them with Social Security, Medicare, and other benefits, the report said. Four of the Nazis - Vladas Zajanckauskas, Theodor Szehinskyj, Jakiw Palij, and John Kalymon – are still alive, residing respectively in Massachusetts , Pennsylvania , New York City , and Michigan . (I bet Israel would take them. ~Bob)
Six Decades Later, a Second Rescue Attempt
Excerpt: One of the airmen, Ensign Jesse L. Brown, was the son of an African-American sharecropper from Mississippi . The other, Lt. Thomas J. Hudner Jr., was the son of a white patrician merchant family from Massachusetts . An hour into the flight, Ensign Brown’s plane was hit by enemy fire, forcing him to crash land on the side of a mountain at Chosin, north of Pyongyang. Lieutenant Hudner brought his plane down nearby and found Ensign Brown, but could not rescue him.
Zug Island - The Story of The Windsor Hum
Excerpt: For the past two years there has been a mysterious low frequency hum emanating from a manmade island called Zug, located on the U.S. side of the Rouge River (between Windsor, and Detroit). A factory, owned by USS steel inhabits the island. A moat, and extremely high fences surround this place; it’s even guarded by security forces of some kind.
Federal government to fund Windsor hum research
Excerpt: With a general idea of the “where,” pinpointing the mysterious “what” that’s causing the Windsor hum might become a reality thanks to some local research expertise and funding from the federal government. On Monday, Bob Dechert, parliamentary secretary to Minister of Foreign Affairs John Baird, came to Windsor to announce the government’s plan to fund a $60,000 research project that will help figure out what is causing the strange l0w-frequency noise that has been plaguing the city’s west end since the spring of 2011.
Daniel Henninger: Obama's Creeping Authoritarianism
Excerpt: The second-term over-and-over, elevated in his summer speech tour, is the shafting of the middle class. But the real purpose here isn't the speeches' parboiled proposals. It is what he says the shafting of the middle class is forcing him to do. It is forcing him to "act"—to undertake an unprecedented exercise of presidential power in domestic policy-making. ObamaCare was legislated. In the second term, new law will come from him. Please don't complain later that you didn't see it coming. (All big government socialists are authoritarian, because in their view government must be used to coerce people to do things (in their own best interests, of course) that they don’t want to do, such as buy health insurance or pay for college students’ birth control. ~Bob.)
Excerpt: Egypt ’s military-backed government instructed its security forces on Wednesday to end two sit-ins by tens of thousands of supporters of the deposed Islamist president, a decree that many feared could lead to a new round of violent confrontations. (All the situation needs is for Obama to say, “Morsi could have been me.” ~Bob.)

As Afghan Pullout Nears, Civilian Casualties Rise
Excerpt: The number of civilians killed or wounded in Afghanistan rose by 23 percent in the first six months of 2013, according to a United Nations report on civilian casualties, reversing a decline last year and signaling the challenge Afghan forces face as they take over all combat duties from American soldiers. (Let’s see, we are being drawn into Syria to “do something” about all the civilian casualties, while getting out of Iraq and Afghanistan , thus increasing civilian casualties. Have I got that right? ~Bob.)
In Gaza , Iran Finds an Ally More Agreeable Than Hamas
Excerpt: In recent months, Iran has suspended millions of dollars in monthly aid to Hamas because the group did not stand by President Bashar al-Assad of Syria , its former patron, in his struggle against rebel forces. Unlike Hamas, Islamic Jihad did not leave its base in Damascus and has kept up relations with the government of Mr. Assad, a longtime Iranian ally.
Obama: Don’t believe everything you read in the Huffington Post

http://dailycaller.com/2013/07/31/obama-dont-believe-everything-you-read-in-the-huffington-post/
Excerpt: President Barack Obama told House Democrats Wednesday morning that they should not believe everything in the Huffington Post, referring to the liberal publication’s critiques of Larry Summers, the President’s former economic advisor whom he is now considering as a possible chairman of the Federal Reserve.
The Black "fomenters", the Sharptons and Jacksons and, yes, Barack himself, have suffered some from White "blowback", the citing of numerous Black culture failures that lead to the Black "12 per centers" who hog nearly half of every welfare dollar, the 97% Black on Black crime rate, and the 50% of all prison felons being Black. All of these statistics are explained away by liberals by simply declaring all Blacks victims of "Whitey". None of that is true of course. However, the great irony is that Whites are responsible for one huge Black cultural failure...the Black marriage rates.
HARRP is a new one on me. Tend to take things like this with a grain of salt until verified. ~Bob.
The Military's Pandora's Box. By Dr. Nick Begich and Jeane Manning
Excerpt: As early as 1970, Zbigniew Brzezinski predicted a "more controlled and directed society" would gradually appear, linked to technology. This society would be dominated by an elite group which impresses voters by allegedly superior scientific know-how. Angels Don't Play This HAARP further quotes Brzezinski: "Unhindered by the restraints of traditional liberal values, this elite would not hesitate to achieve its political ends by using the latest modern techniques for influencing public behavior and keeping society under close surveillance and control. Technical and scientific momentum would then feed on the situation it exploits," Brzezinski predicted. (Have a free cellphone, dummkopf. –Barb.)
HAARP is a weapon of mass destruction. Radio Waves strong enough to cause earthquakes are controlled by the U.S. military.
Excerpt: What they have found is that by sending radio frequency energy up and focusing it, as they do with these kinds of instruments, it causes a heating effect. And that heating literally lifts the ionosphere within a 30 mile diameter area therein changing localized pressure systems or perhaps the route of jet streams. …. Changing weather in one place can have a devastating downstream effect. (Anybody else remember the government saying, “There have not been many tornados this Spring” just before the devastating back-to-back F5 OK tornadoes on almost identical paths to previous in May? Some link to mysterious “booms” heard around the country, with earthquake-like shaking of their homes (blamed on fracking in some areas). Program on Syfy 07/31/13 at 2200 hours interviews one supposed HAARP employee who says there are now 240 established bases around the world. –Barb)
Excerpt: As it stated in their official release, the facility is being bought by the highest bidder. Haarp Status updates at TheWeatherSpace.com are continuing so either the facility is still on, run by another group of scientists, or other facilities with the same technology are continuing to affect the atmosphere. There are many facilities like HAARP across the world, with smaller ones said to be in the United States as well. (Let me get this…a weaponized system is being sold to the highest bidder? In the US ? With bases admitted elsewhere in US and globally (as indicated in Syfy program…). How reassuring. So who was the highest bidder? –Barb)
McCain: Hillary a ‘Rock Star,’ Fox News ‘Schizophrenic’
http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2013/07/31/mccain-hillary-a-rock-star-fox-news-schizophrenic
Excerpt: In a lengthy interview with the left-wing New Republic , John McCain, the Republican Party's 2008 nominee blurted out his affection for Hillary Clinton more than once. At one point the Arizona Senator said that choosing between Rand Paul or Clinton for president in 2016 would be a "tough choice." He then went on to call the former Secretary of State a "rock star" and criticize Fox News as "schizophrenic" over the issue of immigration reform.
Excerpt: Jones even taped a video for ATF employees to discourage whistleblowing, gave special treatment to a supervisor cited for negligence in Fast and Furious, and hasn’t been willing to engage with Congress in the Fast and Furious investigation, Issa said. “Jones was first brought into the job of ATF Acting Director in the middle of the Fast and Furious scandal after Justice Department officials had falsely denied reckless conduct and allegations by his predecessor that there was an effort underway to shield the Department’s senior political appointees from the scandal,” he said. “Because of the numerous ATF mistakes during his tenure as Acting Director pertaining to Fast and Furious, his nomination is a slap in the face to the family of fallen Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, Mexican citizens whose murder has been linked to Fast and Furious weapons, and ATF whistleblowers whom he failed to support.” (See F&F with hundreds of dead is a phony scandal, not like a real scandal when Romney put his dog on a car roof decades ago. ~Bob.)
Excerpt: Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said today that military and intelligence personnel are not receiving permission to chase down solid leads in bringing the perpetrators of the Benghazi attack to justice. Graham noted that CNN recently interview Ahmed Abu Khattala, head of Ansar al-Sharia, and asked him about the attack on-camera, “but nobody from the FBI, the Libyan government has ever talked to him and he’s a person of high interest, according to our government.” “CNN found him within two hours. …” (The administration doesn’t want Benghazi in the news, even to get the killers. ~Bob.)
The Environmental Apocalypse. By Daniel Greenfield
Excerpt: Early in the morning, while most are still sleeping, groups of elderly Chinese women spread out across city streets. They tear open trash bags, pick through the litter and sort out bottles and cans that come with a deposit. And then they bring them to the local supermarket to a machine that scans and evaluates each can, accepting and rejecting them one by one, and finally printing out a receipt.
Is populism dead? By Victor Davis Hanson
Excerpt: Gas has gone up about $2 a gallon since Barack Obama took office. Given average yearly rates of national consumption, that increase alone translates into an extra $1 trillion that American drivers have collectively paid in higher fuel costs over the last 54 months. Such a crushing burden on the cash-strapped commuter class is rarely cited in the liberal fixation on cap-and-trade, wind and solar subsidies, and the supposed dangers of fracking.
The News in Zingers. By Argus Hamilton
Excerpt: Private Bradley Manning faces life in jail after his conviction for providing classified intel to WikiLeaks. He'll end up pardoned. President Obama once promised Americans the most transparent administration in history and thanks to WikiLeaks it's all come true.
Death by democracy. By George Will
Excerpt: Government employees’ unions living parasitically on Detroit have been less aware than ichneumon larvae. About them, and their political collaborators, the question is: What. Were. They. Thinking? Well, how did Bernie Madoff or Enron executives convince themselves their houses of cards would never collapse? … It is axiomatic: When there is no penalty for failure, failures proliferate.
Schools keep distance from Obamacare enrollment
Excerpt: Supporters of the health law see back-to-school season as a natural time for Obamacare outreach, a chance to find young families who could benefit from new health coverage options. But weeks before the school bells start ringing in parts of the country, there’s no concerted effort to reach parents at the schoolhouse door. It’s yet another sign of how the undying controversy could overshadow attempts to get people enrolled.

Excerpt: But some of Clinton’s most memorable ‘08 shots at Obama have had resonance far beyond the short shelf life of the standard campaign hit parade: her mockery of his vow to transform Washington in his own image, her cry of “elitism” and her skepticism about his managerial chops echo today in the form of GOP attacks and the lingering doubts of some in his own party.
Marine Tattoo from the Sgt. Grit E-Newsletter
I couldn't stop staring at his tattoo. It was nothing much at all but it made a deep impression on me. It was a simple block-letter U.S.M.C., punctuation included. No one else seemed to notice, but it spoke volumes to me. It said, in my mind, to the civilian riffraff that crowded the place: I've been to places that you'll never go, done things you'll never do and I've been better than you'll ever be - I'm a Marine, then and forever, and that isn't something just anyone can be; I earned it and I'm part of a hallowed brotherhood.
Quote
"Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear."
--Harry S. Truman, August 8, 1950
--Harry S. Truman, August 8, 1950
Excerpt: I like to quote this once in a while, although most people think it is not speaking of them, but THEIR children: When an opponent declares, “I will not come over to your side,” I calmly say, “Your child belongs to us already… What are you? You will pass on. Your descendants, however, now stand in the new camp. In a short time they will know nothing else but this new community.” – Adolf Hitler, 1933
Obama supporters harass mourners at funerals
Excerpt: The company testified in its filing that union members blocked grieving family members from leaving its parking lot, used bullhorns to shout obscenities at workers and mourners, and unleashed a German Shepard on a dead woman’s daughter and husband. …and they found the death of a child amusing…The funeral home was eventually forced to call the police when picketers allegedly disrupted a child’s funeral with laughter. The officer asked the Teamsters to leave, but protesters returned when he drove away.
The Greatest Phony America 's Ever Known
Excerpt: I could go on and on and on, but in order to avoid the inevitable violent vomiting impetus from more of your nasty phony baloney than America can possibly handle, I would just like to say: “How dare you, Mr. President, claim the nonstop ugly scandals during your Saul Alinsky inspired attack on America are phony, when everyone with a brain, a heart and a soul knows damn well what you are up to and how you are intentionally implementing the ‘Rules for Radicals’ agenda so appropriately dedicated to Satan.”
GOP Sees "Dream" Senate Challenger in Tom Cotton. By Caitlin Huey-Burns
Excerpt: A race that could shape the U.S. Senate landscape will begin next week with some Southern barbeque in a tiny Arkansas town called Dardanelle. Republican Tom Cotton plans to announce his bid for the upper chamber there, where he grew up on his family's cattle farm. The freshman congressman -- a 36-year-old Harvard law graduate and a veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars -- is GOP recruiters’ dream challenger to take on Democrat Mark Pryor, considered among the most vulnerable incumbents in the country.
Chilling: How Hollywood Helped Hitler
Excerpt: In devastating detail, an excerpt from a controversial new book reveals how the big studios, desperate to protect German business, let Nazis censor scripts, remove credits from Jews, get movies stopped and even force one MGM executive to divorce his Jewish wife. The 1930s are celebrated as one of Hollywood ’s golden ages, but in an exclusive excerpt from his controversial new book, The Collaboration: Hollywood ’s Pact with Hitler (Harvard University Press, on sale Sept. 9), Harvard post-doctoral fellow Ben Urwand uncovers a darker side to Hollywood ’s past. (Ain’t nothin’ changed. Just a different reincarnation. Race/religious hatred still being used. –Barb)

Shankar has discussed utilizing cognitive science for social activism and is a champion of so-called social justice.FoxNews.com ran a piece Tuesday on Shankar’s team, which is seeking experienced behavioral scientists looking to change people’s actions on everything from tax compliance to energy costs.
When cultural and political institutions converge to destroy the national fabric. By David Solway
Excerpt: From the standpoint of societal ruin, what is most alarming is the calamitous ideological conjunction that occurs when a corrupt and declining culture and a totalitarian-oriented politics coincide and begin to collaborate affectively and intellectually. Such an alignment is very difficult to resist or transform since the one reinforces the other so intimately and seamlessly that what emerges is a unified entity, an impregnableimaginarium or what we might call a politiculture.
Excerpt: But this is how freedom dies, one “reasonable” restriction at a time, until the whole enterprise collapses under its own artificial weight. There’s a bracing quality to the muscular prose of the Constitution, free as it is of petty legalisms and multiple subordinate clauses. …The real issue here, though, is not whether reporters are also citizens and thus subject to penalties should they choose to withhold information in criminal cases; the real issue is the Obama administration’s decision to pull Risen into its net, as part of its ongoing war on leaks, leakers, and the fences who market their stolen property, aka reporters.

President Barack Obama is planning to bypass congressional Republicans with a surge of executive actions and orders on issues like voting rights, health care, job creation, the economy, climate change and immigration. And this time, he really, really, really means it. Really. (Is this supposed to “nudge” behavior? –Barb. There will someday be a GOP President who will do this. ~Bob.)

Excerpt: The Affordable Care Act will give companies — and, surprisingly, their workers — a big incentive to embrace more part-time employment. That isn't necessarily a problem, except when it comes to paying the health-insurance bills for all those part-timers. Looks like that job will fall to you, taxpayers. (Well, they endorsed him. Manning’s enablers: The US Army — and our schools. By Ralph Peters
Excerpt: Now begins the separate sentencing phase of Manning’s military trial. But the long “guilty” list ensures he’ll spend decades in a military prison. Yet two “unindicted co-conspirators” were missing in the dock throughout the trial. Not Julian Assange and his Wiki-gnomes, but the US Army and our blame-America culture. (Col. Peters has nailed it here. It's a very sad and somewhat scary commentary on how things that used to be done competently are now no longer done with the minimal level of competence that the military absolutely must have. How can things have gotten this damn stupid? --Del )
42nd Abortion Clinic Closed This Year Due to Filthy, Unsafe Conditions

How Obama Neglects the Poor. Arthur Brooks
Excerpt: Again and again, the president offers a higher minimum wage as a solution. Yet as the overwhelming majority of economists have argued for decades, the minimum wage actually harms the poorest and most marginalized workers—those with the most tenuous grip on their jobs. In January, a study from the National Bureau of Economic Research surveyed the most recent studies and concluded: "The evidence still shows that minimum wages pose a tradeoff of higher wages for some against job losses for others."
In Newtown , Gun Permits Surge After Shooting. By Joseph de Avila and Alison Fox
Excerpt: "I think people realize that you can't call the police all the time and expect them to save you," said Newtown resident Bill Stevens, 48 years old, an avid hunter who owns more than a dozen firearms. "It's sinking in to some folks that 'I need to take responsibility for keeping my family safe.' "
Americans Are Far More Compassionate Than "Socially Conscious" Europeans. By Dan Mitchell
Excerpt: Wow, people in the United States are so generous that their voluntary giving amounts to 10.2 percent of gross domestic product. The only other nations that even crack 5 percent of GDP are the Netherlands , Canada , and the United Kingdom . Most of the supposedly compassionate welfare states have dismal levels of charitable giving. (Because even in the US , conservatives are far more giving than liberals, who prefer to give other people’s money. ~Bob.)
The Tragedy of U.S. Foreign Policy. Robert D. Kaplan
Excerpt: For seeking to adjust the balance of power in one’s favor has been throughout history an amoral enterprise pursued by both liberal and illiberal powers. Nevertheless, when a liberal power like the United States pursues such a goal in the service of preventing war among major states, it is acting morally in the highest sense.
