From a Marine Buddy

After WW1, a remarkably horrible war that destroyed so much of what the
Western World had been, and in the act also laid the groundwork for WW2
to follow, the poet Yates wrote the following as part of a poem about
what might be down the road of their future.

Read them now, see what familiar bells you hear chiming in them today.

"Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned.
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity."

Damn, those are sad, sad words..... and triply sad in that they apply so
well now! Yates was right, the next 50+ years in Europe were full of
turmoil and the eventual monster storm of WW2.

One might start to wonder about what is right down the road of our
future.... and more importantly, that of our children and grandchildren.
