Olympics to Allow Transgender Athletes to Compete with Women — WITHOUT Having Gender Reassignment Surgery
It started with Bruce Jenner doing the transition, and then playing golf in a women's tournament. Strangely enough, she (being correct in my language use) won easily. Someone pointed out that his transition didn't affect his bone structure and musculature, which just maybe had something to do with her hitting longer drives. Of course that person was told to shut the hell up, respect the womanness of Jenner. Now we are seeing trans women winning more and more events, and most of them have not had the surgery, they're just taking the hormones and dressing differently. A lot of women are unhappy about this, but still some are toeing the PC line. (None of them women athletes in competition. I wonder why that is.) Finally there's a ground swell towards the idea that only if you've gone all the way and had the full package surgery should you be able to compete in women's sports. Sounds reasonable to me, but there is opposition to this terribly restrictive idea. After all, if you say you're a woman, that should be good enough! I feel sad for the born women athletes. This really cheats them. --Del
