We Can’t Let the Outrage Mob Win

We Can’t Let the Outrage Mob Win
Excerpt: As Americans watch this unfold, many might ask: “Am I a bad person for not joining the mob? Have I failed to see the racism and oppression within these long-admired totems of our history? The mob seems so angry, and its anger must be proportionate to its righteousness, right?” Wrong. To Americans asking these questions: You are not the problem. The outrage mob is. Its breathless moralizing and anger do not portend reason or good faith, but instead mask deep ignorance and malicious intent.  You see, this isn’t about taking down offensive messages or symbols. These mobs didn’t suddenly stumble upon some forgotten and offensive historical anecdote, or reach their wits’ end after seeing Aunt Jemima on the grocery-store shelf just one too many times. No, this was a deliberate hijacking of a tragedy. The touchy sympathies of “political correctness” were always just a base from which to launch a cultural revolution, a purge of traditional American narratives and icons. (Crenshaw is the Congressman who looks like a pirate as a result of his military service. I'm really starting to like him. How about a 2024 ticket of Haley-Crenshaw? Ron P.)

Don't Feed the Fire

Don't Feed the Fire
Excerpt: What is “falling short”? Asking for investigations before jumping to conclusions; pointing out the dangers of hysterical overreactions; and defending protests but condemning riots, violence, arson and general destruction of property. Even saying nothing has been twisted to be an offense: “Silence is violence,” meaning not “Defend principles of safety and equality for all” but “Admit your individual guilt and agree with our confiscatory and redistributionist revolutionary ideals as redress for what we’re now calling ‘systemic racism’ in order to hold you personally culpable.” (...) These demands emanate not only from the left’s intelligentsia but also from the little insurrections in places like Seattle, Portland, New York City and Washington, D.C. Seattle, in particular, has shown us (yet again) what the radical left produces when it gets autonomy and control: warlords, violence, shootings and mob “justice.” In short, chaos. (...) But that assumes that the intellectuals supporting societal upheaval will somehow be in charge of it, and any student of revolution can tell you that’s not how it plays out; the high-minded who call for revolution in their salons quickly lose control to thugs with less delicate sensibilities who carry out the destruction and bloodshed that almost inevitably follows. [If we stay on this path, we may discover it’s the road to self-destruction. Ron P.]

Mordor comes

EXCERPT: After the simple hobbits saved Middle Earth by defeating the evil of the stinking, smoking land of Mordor, they returned home to find the Shire terrorized by the wizard Saruman's ruffians, who had knocked down the hobbits' buildings, trees, and monuments, for no other reason than to remove all markers of memory. For a people without pride of place is less likely to defend that place. -Bill

BLM Leader: Statues and Stained Glass of Jesus Are 'White Supremacy,' Must Be Torn Down

BLM Leader: Statues and Stained Glass of Jesus Are 'White Supremacy,' Must Be Torn Down
Excerpt: “Yes, I think the statues of the white European they claim is Jesus should also come down. They are a form of white supremacy. Always have been. In the Bible, when the family of Jesus wanted to hide, and blend in, guess where they went? EGYPT! Not Denmark. Tear them down,” King tweeted. “Yes. All murals and stained glass windows of white Jesus, and his European mother, and their white friends should also come down. They are a gross form (of) white supremacy. Created as tools of oppression. Racist propaganda. They should all come down,” the leftist added. [If someone REALLY wanted to start a religious war, this is exactly the way to do it. I suspect the sides might not be as conveniently color-coded as King hopes, though. Devout Christians are much more common among blacks than the general US population. I doubt they’d take kindly to anyone telling them what they had to believe. Europe spent the best part of 300 years in religious wars before everyone got sick of it and decided to practice (mostly) tolerance of differences. Do we really need to relearn that bloody lesson? 'The American Crisis;' 250 years after Thomas Paine

This essay is BRILLIANT! It also shows more of Paine's history than I'd known before. I'll have to look it up. What a lot of trouble this could've saved. On the other hand, it would've endangered the livelihood of many in the southern colonies and made it more difficult to unite them against Britain, so who knows? Weep for the lost opportunity.  This is worth reading. Ron P.

'The American Crisis;' 250 years after Thomas Paine

(...) Of all our great founders whose ideas he wanted for America, Ronald Reagan quoted the one who was not honored as a founder, Thomas Paine. Although he inspired and unified the colonies with enlightenment teachings, Paine was considered too radical to attend the Convention of 1787. And his insight into our socio-political future was never reflected in the writing of our Constitution.

In 1774, Ben Franklin told Thomas Paine he was needed in the New World. Within months Paine was editor of the Philadelphia Magazine, where he penned the ideals that unified the colonies and brought them to revolt. Paine wrote, “America was in a crisis.” Until they had undivided unity, they’d never become a nation.

“We have it in our power to begin the world over again.” – Thomas Paine

Two from Ron

Individualism Is the Answer
Excerpt: Mass protests and mob violence further pressure Americans, almost as a self-defense mechanism, to identify themselves by group affiliation. There is psychological safety in numbers. This is a profoundly unAmerican way in which to view ourselves. It has and will lead to disaffection, violence, and maybe even a new civil war. It certainly is playing itself out in an intensely polarized group-versus-group politics. In the midst of all this, the rights of the individual are lost. The slogans and protests and violence all have the effect of pulling us to identify ourselves primarily by our membership in a particular group, not to identify each of us by our own unique, individual identity. George Floyd had his individual rights violated. Yet, the collective memes and protests are trying to make us forget our individual identities and accept blame or to seek comfort and protection solely on the basis of group identity. This can only lead to a war of all against all. We must assert and demand that our individual rights are protected, both by the state and from the state. But before we can do this, we must remember that what matters is our fundamental identity as individuals, not the characteristics we share with a group. One’s characteristics — including characteristics of race, gender, and socio-economic status — are characteristics possessed by each of us. But such characteristics are irrelevant for our character, which is ours alone, and is the result of our choices. [This author is saying exactly what I’ve–and others have–been saying for decades. If we care about each and every individual, taking care of groups is no longer necessary. Each of us is born, nurtured, raised, taught, and developed as an individual. Each of us makes our own way through the world and life, complete with our own unique, individual errors and triumphs. We live and die as individuals, not as groups. When we die, if there’s an after-life, we will be surely be judged one at a time as individuals, and we will not go to reward or punishment as part of any group but based on our own, individual conduct. The choices we make determine “who we are,” not some accident of birth. The smallest minority is the single individual, and that won’t–can’t–change. Ron P.]

President Trump Fires Manhattan U.S. Attorney
Excerpt:  Inevitably, President Trump fired Berman on Saturday afternoon, as announced by Barr. That should end the legal dispute over the job, though it may not. And the controversy has only just begun. It would seem strange to accuse the AG of interfering in the work of the Department he is sworn to run; yet, Democrats and the media darkly accuse Barr of impeding SDNY investigations that could negatively impact the president’s reelection bid. That claim seems overwrought, for reasons we’ll come to. [This is an interesting, in-depth look at the governing laws, customs, and personalities involved in this issue. It seems McCarthy has worked with several of them over the years. Worth reading. Ron P.]

Crime up

Shootings, Violence Jump In Cities Where Mayors Have Restrained Police. By Jordan Davidson
Excerpt: Activist campaigns against police to have accelerated in the wake of a violent altercation between police and George Floyd that prefaced his death. In response, mayors of several cities have reduced police presence. This has led in several cases to dramatic increases in violent crime.

When Everyone Kneels, Who Will Stand Up for Western History and Culture?

When Everyone Kneels, Who Will Stand Up for Western History and Culture? by Giulio Meotti
Refreshing, in that it's not about the protests/riots here in particular, it's a lot more about what's gone on in the UK, where they don't have a 13% Black population tied back to the history of slavery. Yet they have passionate, even fanatic activists who are demanding total PC purity, ready to trash anyone they can claim is associated with slavery or just the fact that the history of Europe and its culture is dominated by mostly White men. Oddly enough, one could point out that the history and culture of China is dominated mostly by men with yellow skin. The modern histories of Haiti and Jamaica are dominated mostly by Black men. Duhh... Possibly there's a connection with the demographics of given regions? No nation or culture is pristine, with all its forbears being angelic creatures. The present day vicious insanity to tear down everything from the past that doesn't meet the criteria of PC perfection is terribly dangerous to everyone's future. We desperately need leades to stand up and protect the history as it was, warts and all. --Del

Law-and-Order African Americans Stand With Trump

Law-and-Order African Americans Stand With Trump
President Trump is standing with the 72% of African-Americans who are happy with their local police departments. By Daniel Greenfield
Of course it's true, skin color doesn't make you want to live in chaos with criminals running loose. Duhh! But you'll never see these figures and this reminders of actual history in the major media. --Del

America, We Are Leaving by Travis Yates

America, We Are Leaving by Travis Yates
This is the hardest thing I have written.

I grew up in a law enforcement family. My father worked his way up to the rank to Captain at the Ft. Smith (AR) Police Department. As I kid I remember going with him on Friday to pick up his check and I was in awe of these super heroes he worked around.

They were funny and fun to be around. Men and women of all races all with the same mission, to make the community safer.

My dad sacrificed a lot and so did my late mother. Whether it was the week long surveillance or wiretap or chasing drug runners across the country, he gave it all for my family and worked plenty of extra details to never let our family be without. Some would call that privilege but where I grew up, it was called hard work.

The kids at school thought it was cool what my dad did and while he sometimes asked me if anyone gave me a hard time, they never did. There was a respect among all….even the kids in shop class.

I didn’t grow up wanting to be a cop but one fateful night, as a freshman in college, that all changed.

I went on a ride along and my life’s journey would never be the same.

After four years of college my dad wanted me at an agency that respected that education so I moved to Tulsa (OK) at 21 years old and never looked back.

I didn’t know anyone and all I knew was what I saw my dad do, work hard and treat people with respect. I saw a lot of other cops working hard as well and doing all they could to keep the community safe.

27 years has passed and if you would have told me the condition of law enforcement today, I would have never believed you.

It’s not that law enforcement has changed for the worse but everything around it has.

The mentally ill used to get treatment and now they just send cops. Kids used to be taught respect and now it’s cool to be disrespectful.

Supervisors used to back you when you were right but now they accuse you of being wrong in order to appease crazy people.

Parents used to get mad at their kids for getting arrested and now they get mad at us.

The media used to highlight the positive contribution our profession gave to society and now they either ignore it or twist the truth for controversy to line their own pockets.

There used to be a common respect among criminals. If they got caught, they understood you had a job to do but now it’s our fault they sit in handcuffs rather than their own personal decisions.

If someone attacked a cop, they were seen as such. Now we martyr them and sue for millions.

We used to be able to testify in court and we were believed. Now, unless there is video from three different angles, no one cares what you have to say.

With all this talk about racism and racist cops, I’ve never seen people treated differently because of their race. And while I know that cowards that have never done this job will call me racist for saying it, all I’ve ever seen was criminal behavior and cops trying to stop it and they didn’t give a rip what their skin color was.

I’ve seen cops help and save any type of race, gender or ethnicity you can think of and while that used to mean something, no one cares anymore.

I’ve been called every name you can think of and many of them with racial overtones and it’s never come from cops. I’ve watched African American cops take the brunt of this and even talked one rookie out of quitting after he was berated by a lot of cowards that had the same skin color as him.

I’ve heard words I never heard before being a cop.

Uncle Tom, Cracker, Pig and the N Word just to name a few. I’ve heard them thousands of times and never once did I see a police officer retaliate.

They just took it.

Despite that, it’s been the greatest opportunity of my life to do this job. I would have recommended it to anyone and I secretly hoped one of my kids would do it one day.

They would have been a 4th Generation Cop.

But today, all of that is over. I wouldn’t wish this job on my worst enemy. I would never send anyone I cared about into the hell that this profession has become.

It’s the only job you can do everything right and lose everything.

It’s the only job where the same citizens you risk your life for hate you for it.

It’s the only segment left in society where it’s cool to discriminate and judge, just because of the uniform you wear.

You never get to explain.

You can never reason with them.

The nasty words have now turned into rocks and bottles and gunfire.

I’ve watched it happen to those around me and I have seen the total destruction of their life.

This job is a walking a time bomb and you could get cancelled or prosecuted on the very next call, even if you do everything right.

No profession has to deal with that.

Doctors kill 250,000 people a year. They call them “medical mistakes” because society understands that they do a very difficult job under high stress and they must make the best possible decision in the moment.

Law enforcement is tasked with the same and we are highly successful. Despite the most violent society we have ever seen, less than 1,000 suspects are killed a year. 96% are attacking us with weapons and all but a few others are attacking us with their cars or their fists and more and more with simulated guns so Benjamin Crump can help their family win the lottery.

I’ve seen cops risk their own lives when they shouldn’t have…….just to keep from taking one.

They never get the credit that other professions get.

Cowards are all around us. From chiefs to sheriffs to politicians, no one has our back.

Now, the little we have, we are told they are going to defund us or even abolish us. Citizens with a political agenda will reign over us and all you have to do is wake up and put on a uniform to be a racist.

This weekend I received death threats for just doing my job. It would have been outrageous a decade ago and made national news.

Now, it’s just a Monday.

There will be more threats, more accusations of racism and more lies told about us.

I used to talk cops out of leaving the job. Now I’m encouraging them.

It’s over America. You finally did it.

You aren’t going to have to abolish the police, we won’t be around for it.

And while I know, most Americans still appreciate us, it’s not enough and the risk is too high. Those of you that say thank you or buy the occasional meal, it means everything.

But those of you that were silent while the slow turning of the knives in our backs happened by thugs and cowards, this is on you.

Your belief in hashtags and memes over the truth has and will create an environment in your community that you will never expect.

If you think Minneapolis will turn into Mogadishu and that is far from you, it’s coming.

And when it does, remember what your complicity did.

This is the America that you made. (This is a deeply sad screed from a third generation law enforcement officer. Some will read it and say "it's not that bad all the time, everywhere" and they'd be correct, but it is that bad a lot of the time in a lot of places, especially our big cities. After a while it doesn't matter that 4 citizens out of 5 smile at you and are thankful for the job you do, that 5th person screaming, spitting, calling you names, sticking their cell phone camera in your face, complaining that you're a fascist who's violating their rights and they will sue..... that's what you'll remember from the day.
I don't think every cop in the country is going to quit, but some may, many may take early retirement, and recruiting for the police academies is down. All of which is understandable.
What is needed are both police chiefs and department heads who the officers know have their backs, not politicians ready to throw them under the bus to placate PC maniacs. Yes, good training for better community relations, yes, careful examination of records and complaint histories for individual officers, but overall more support from the system and its leaders for the men and women going into the streets to serve and protect.
If we don't keep good people and encourage more good people to take the job, we'll wind up with steadily less effective policing, which will catalyze more downward spiral of crime and chaos. To where wealthy people will live in gated, guarded communities, and everyone else will live in messy and often dangerous areas. Not what a country of freedom and laws is supposed to be about!
