The Looming National Security Crisis: Young Americans Unable to Serve in the Military

The Looming National Security Crisis: Young Americans Unable to Serve in the Military
This is a very sobering article that reveals current data about the national security crisis we face because nearly 75% of eligible youth ages 17-24 cannot meet basic qualifications to enter into the military! Reasons are below with the largest being health and the biggest problem within health is obesity. This reality raises the question whether or not the all volunteer military is sustainable, especially with the need to grow the total end strength to meet national security demands. This is a national social crisis as well as a national security crisis. The military cannot fix this problem as the article states, this is a grass roots political, social, and cultural issue. The military could lower its entrance standards (which are already pretty low) but that would create more problems than it solves. Highly recommend reading the article as it is a snapshot of today’s society and our youth. From an Army MG. (One more nail of many in the Republic's coffin. ~Bob)
