Kerik: Broward Sheriff Should Resign

Kerik: Broward Sheriff Should Resign
The record of this police chief as being anti-gun has become very clear, and either his department was still telling its men to never go into a shooting scene or there was some kind of pervading mentality that had four of them waiting outside while slaughter was ongoing. Either way, the buck stops on his desk, and he should resign. But I bet he won't, if he's the selfcentered jerk I think he is, he'll hunker down and stay defensive and try to ride it out. --Del

Iran, Russia, and China's Central Role in the Venezuela Crisis | Joseph M. Humire at Gatestone Institute
So much for the Monroe Doctrine. It now goes without saying that Venezuela, formerly a jewel of South America, is a ruined country. It's easy to understand China's economic imperialism; they are sopping up control of energy sources and scarce essential metals all over the world and with their investments in infrastructure are creating much indebtedness of poorer countries. What is illuminated here is the nefarious collaboration of Venezuela's occupation by Cuba abetted by Russian arms, Iranian-Hezbollah training, and incredibly, involvement in Syria. Truly, Russia is Enemy #1, Iran #1a. What plots are being hatched in Venezuela by them? At this point, China is an adversary-competitor. The Chinese are way too sophisticated to have to use military force; for them a 21st century co-prosperity sphere is the way to go. Yours truly. --Larry Greenberg

More on the FBI's failure

FBI Tip-Line Caller Said Nikolas Cruz ‘Is Going to Explode’. A person close to accused Florida shooter said she wanted ‘clear conscience’ if he ‘just starts shooting’
So the FBI had input this specific about the Cruz kid and STILL nobody did anything? But it's all about the gun, it's only the gun, it's only about how much money the NRA spends lobbying (tiny fraction of what Soros spends), it's now all about pushing kids to make speeches about matters they can only react to emotionally as kids, it's about making it a juggernaut of screaming emotions to push the antigun agenda. Great, and of course that will solve the problem for sure. --Del. You don't need a gun. The government will protect you. ~Bob

Former Save the Children staffers speak out on abusive culture under Justin Forsyth

Who to blame?

Parkland school cop ‘never went in’ during the shooting. There were other failures, too.
Excerpt: A school campus cop heard the gunfire and rushed to the building but never went inside — instead waiting outside for another four agonizing minutes as Cruz continued the slaughter. And long before Cruz embarked on the worst school shooting in Florida history, Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies had multiple warnings that the 19-year-old was a violent threat and a potential school shooter, according to records released Thursday. In November, a tipster called BSO to say Cruz “could be a school shooter in the making,” but deputies did not write up a report on that warning. It came just weeks after a relative called urging BSO to seize his weapons. Two years ago, according to a newly released timeline of interactions with Cruz’s family, a deputy investigated a report that Cruz “planned to shoot up the school” — intelligence that was forwarded to the school’s resource officer, with no apparent result. ... The school initiated a “threat assessment” on Cruz, then 18, suggesting he suffered from depression. The Florida Department of Children and Families also investigated Cruz and determined he was not a threat to himself or others. At the time, he was undergoing therapy with Henderson Behavioral Health. BSO had no more contact with Cruz until November 2017, shortly after his mother died of a respiratory illness. His mother’s cousin, Katherine Blaine, reported that the woman had died and asked that BSO seize the arsenal. (Who to blame? Looks like there are plenty of folks! They all took pay checks; didn't do their jobs, eh? So was this a set up or just too many people following Mueller's Russian probe to care about day-to-day issues? Ignored 911 calls. Deputy outside building; won't go in.... reportedly got "Officer of the Year." I still can't figure how a kid who works at Dollar General could buy so many guns and have so much loose cash (like $3,000 reportedly taken by his current foster mother)..... Something doesn't jive with my realities. --Barb. No one needs a gun; the government will protect you! ~Bob)

Four Minutes of a Massacre that Demonstrate Why We Cannot Rely on the Police Alone

Four Minutes of a Massacre that Demonstrate Why We Cannot Rely on the Police Alone by Jim Geraghty
Excerpt: We know about the FBI getting a direct, detailed tip about Nikolas Cruz and never forwarding it to their Florida personnel. We learned, in recent days, about the police responding 39 times to emergency calls at Cruz’s home over a seven-year period. It is easy to miss anecdotes about the shooter that are jaw-dropping: Long before he slaughtered 17 people at the South Florida high school he once attended, Nikolas Cruz had a disturbing way of introducing himself. “Hi, I’m Nick,” he used to say, according to an acquaintance interviewed by CNN. “I’m a school shooter.” I’m rather stunned that someone can call 911 and say that you’ve put a gun to people’s heads in the past, and they’ll walk away after a mere conversation because you had “hugged and reconciled” with the person you threatened. But the worst revelation, that left many I spoke to at CPAC last night almost speechless with anger, is the news that an armed sheriff’s deputy remained outside the high school building in Parkland, taking a defensive position and simply waiting for four minutes as the shooter murdered people inside.
