Great movie about VN refugees
I received a copy of the move "Vietamerica", which was made by some Vietnamese activists about the whole story of people who fled starting in '75. It's mostly in English, but those sections have VN subtitles. I found it to be a wonderful piece of work, something that perhaps the younger generation should really see. If anyone wants to buy a copy, they are selling it for $20.00/ copy pus $3.50 for posting and handling. Please send the order with the check to VAHF 3800 Alazan Circle, Austin, TX. 78734. They will receive the DVD within 10 days. --Del

CORRUPTION ALERT: Planned Parenthood Donated Thousands to California AG
Excerpt: Remember earlier this week when California Attorney General Xavier Becerra (Democrat) shockingly charged the Planned Parenthood whistleblowers from the Center for Medical Progress with multiple felonies instead of Planned Parenthood itself? Remember how strange that seemed considering that profiting from the sale of human body parts is illegal? It seems that it could be a simple misapplication of justice on the part of Attorney General Becerra, but I think there is a little more to it than that.

'Large Burly Man' Lurking in Disney Ladies' Room Should Make Everyone Stop and Think
OK, I know personally a transgender, now male, who looks, sounds, and acts like a male, even though he doesn't have full male genitalia. Having him in a bathroom with me or my kids or grandkids is fine. I sure don't fully understand transgenderism, and suspect it doesn't always work out well for people, but believing in freedom means you let people do their thing, and make their own mistakes if that's what some things turn out to be. If a visually obvious woman waltzed into the mens room while I was there, I would not feel threatened, but I would not like it and would ask that person to leave and go find a gender neutral facility. But for women having a visually obvious male in their bathroom is somewhat different, and I agree with the idea that they should act clearly to express their opposition to this. Every time some new situation opens up, there will be those who instantly think of how to take advantage of it in some way that is not at all what was intended. Open a door and things may come through it that are not remotely what you had in mind, and which in fact are really objectionable. Some level of privacy in bathrooms needs to be preserved. PC extremism has to be dialed back. --Del

I love it. While discussing the hard work done in order to "preserve the truth" the high level Obama staffer freely discusses using intelligence leaks on Trump and his campaign, which just happens to all be illegal, unethical, and a betrayal of the whole system. But she is so caught up in how righteous their cause is that it never occurs to her that she is confirming that illicit leaks from the intelligence sources were used and in fact she wants to safeguard them so they can continue to be used in future! Watch the full video and grasp what she's talking about so freely and proudly. -Del

UMass Op-Ed Points Out Stupidity of Student Protest Topics
Excerpt from the "Daily Collegian": In the 1960s and 70s, student activism had a coherent and justifiable goal. Students at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and across the country marched for Civil Rights causes, protested the Vietnam War and fought for the rights of all.
Nowadays? You don’t protest the potential war crimes or torture by the United States military, which continued to occur throughout the Obama presidency in Afghanistan and at Guantanamo Bay. You don’t protest the collapse of our nation’s labor force, or the slowed economic growth that keeps millions throughout our country unemployed and struggling to get by. In terms of Civil Rights, you don’t protest the 74 countries where homosexuality is illegal, many of which the U.S. has established trade and diplomatic relationships with, or the 13 countries where same-sex relations are a crime punishable by death. You protest the existence of a disputed wage gap between genders in this country, but fail to protest the many Middle Eastern countries like Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and Iran where women are harshly oppressed. In fact, your champion Hillary Clinton even took donations to her “charitable” foundation from the leaders of Saudi Arabia, despite claiming to be a defender of women’s rights. Instead, you fight the good fight, protesting things like the validity of electoral democracy, the right of people you disagree with to speak and demanding that UMass become a shelter for criminals. (So nice to see a voice for sanity and reason coming out at a major college. But I worry that the writer will now be subject to all the intolerance that has become SOP in many schools. Of course, I disagree that "war crimes and torture by the US military" have been going on for all these years, but hey, that's just part of the liberal college narrative, you have to expect it. --Del)
This is a really scary, totally nonpartisan, video about the awful state our military has fallen into. While too much money has been wasted in some ways, really key funding has been cut way too far back for way too long, and now our enemies have technologies equal to and even better than ours. This is a really BAD situation. -Del

Ted Kennedy's Soviet Gambit
Excerpt: Picking his way through the Soviet archives that Boris Yeltsin had just thrown open, in 1991 Tim Sebastian, a reporter for the London Times, came across an arresting memorandum. Composed in 1983 by Victor Chebrikov, the top man at the KGB, the memorandum was addressed to Yuri Andropov, the top man in the entire USSR. The subject: Sen. Edward Kennedy. “On 9-10 May of this year,” the May 14 memorandum explained, “Sen. Edward Kennedy’s close friend and trusted confidant [John] Tunney was in Moscow.” (Tunney was Kennedy’s law school roommate and a former Democratic senator from California.) “The senator charged Tunney to convey the following message, through confidential contacts, to the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, Y. Andropov.” Kennedy’s message was simple. He proposed an unabashed quid pro quo. Kennedy would lend Andropov a hand in dealing with President Reagan. In return, the Soviet leader would lend the Democratic Party a hand in challenging Reagan in the 1984 presidential election. “The only real potential threats to Reagan are problems of war and peace and Soviet-American relations,” the memorandum stated. “These issues, according to the senator, will without a doubt become the most important of the election campaign.”

Health-Care Reform Won’t Fix What Really Hurts American Health
Excerpt: The public-health crisis we’re facing won’t be solved by access to health insurance. In 2016, two truths were revealed at once. First, the percentage of uninsured Americans hit a record low — a mere 8.6 percent. In 2010, almost 50 million Americans lacked health insurance. By the beginning of 2016 that number had plunged to 27.3 million. This is, truth be told, the fruit of Obamacare and indeed is the very reason why the GOP is having so much difficulty in its struggle to repeal and replace it. People like having health insurance, and health insurance makes us healthier, right? But that brings us to the second truth that was revealed in 2016. Even though Americans allegedly enjoyed unprecedented access to insured health care, the nation’s death rate in 2015 actually increased. More Americans were insured, but more Americans died. Why?

Radical Muslim cleric mistakenly named as London attacker
Excerpt: A report that identified the knife-wielding attacker who killed at least three people during a rampage in central London as Abu Izzadeen has been withdrawn. The UK’s Channel 4 News and The Independent initially named Izaadeen as the suspect, but several sources told BBC News that the radical Muslim cleric is still in jail and not responsible for the attack. In January 2016, Izzadeen and another Islamist militant were sentenced to two years in prison for breaching the Terrorism Act by leaving the UK without notifying the police, the BBC reported.
Real Talk: Day Without a Woman by Vanessa Brown Calder
Excerpt: An impartial observer would likely believe that women’s prospects must be quite depressing, given the missed work, public school closures, and street protests that occurred in some U.S. cities. Luckily, American women’s social welfare and economic prospects are better than many strikers realize. Take female leadership, for example: it would probably surprise Day Without a Woman strikers that 42% of legislators, senior officials, and managers in America are female. This figure is higher than comparable places like Canada, Western Europe, and Eastern Europe. According to World Bank data, the U.S. is at the top of the pack and has been for at least the last decade.

Ronald G. Pittenger
It has been a while since I last used a school bathroom. After combing my memory carefully, I cannot recall even one instance where an inspector checked to see if I was trying to use the right restroom. Perhaps I’m just not special enough to rate an inspector. More likely, we all knew using one that didn’t match up with our general appearance would’ve gotten our butts kicked by the seven other people already in there tending to business. Somehow, I doubt any school district will hire a bathroom inspector to enforce any laws other than "no smoking or drugs"–and few even bother to do that.
The urinals in men’s rooms offer little in the way of privacy, so had one lacked the correct equipment to use a urinal, it would’ve become immediately obvious. Please notice that in those places that freely allow access by both sexes, there are seldom any urinals, only closed stalls. Even old fashioned Men’s and Ladies’ rooms have stalls. If everybody used them, there would be little to argue about. There is a simple, though expensive, solution.
Build a lot of one-person-at-a-time-
restrooms. As an interim measure, bring in a bunch of Port-a-potties and line the school corridors with enough to satisfy the school’s needs. Going to void one’s waste shouldn’t be a social occasion anyway. It was merely more efficient and cost-effective to build "group bathrooms" than to build 15 or 20 times as many one-person jobs. And, just think of how that cost would be passed on in taxes (for schools and such), rents (for office buildings restaurants, and stores), ticket prices (for public venues). Oh, yeah, I’m sure everyone will welcome the doubling–or more–of movie/show/concert ticket prices that would contribute only to the building trades and taxes.
Since privacy is merely more expensive, who but the very poor could object?
The real problem isn’t places to void waste. It’s locker rooms, showers, and other places–think of gyms and country clubs among others–where people have every expectation of exposing themselves down to the bare skin in a group setting. Do we really want people playing "I dropped the soap" in showers used by naked people of all sexes? It might work for willing adults who are over the legal age of consent, but must we include minors? Almost all school students are minors, after all. (At this point, someone is certain to point out the communal bathing in Japan. Fine. Move to Japan, if that’s what you’d like. There are probably places there where you can still find separate doors for Men’s and Ladies’ rooms that open into the same undivided space where the waste goes down a single drain in the center of the floor–yes, they do it side by side. It takes many generations to breed that sort of indifference to nakedness and bodily function.) Grownups can, perhaps deal with this stuff on a case by case basis, but children are stuck making do with what we give them. And, we can only give them what we can afford.
Of course: if you really want to break the public school unions, this is just the issue to push hard. So many children will suddenly be enrolled in private schools that a lot of public school teachers will be unemployed for lack of students.
Conclusion: this issue isn’t really about bathrooms as places to void one’s waste. The issue is about control and who gets to be so special they can use whatever facility they feel like using today, and possibly tomorrow, they’ll feel differently. Those who have actually completed the surgical process to change genders should go where they fit in. Those with tender feelings that might be hurt are just going to have to tough it out until they decide what they want to be if they grow up.

Officials: Rockville High Rape Suspects Didn't Share Classes With Freshman Girl
Excerpt: The two accused students—Henry Sanchez-Milian, 18, and Jose Montano, 17,—had arrived from Central America within the past year, and their arrest has set off a firestorm of debate about immigration and county education policy. In an address to the media, Smith pleaded passionately against using sweeping generalizations and denounced the surge of racism that he's seen since the arrests. (County citizens have since learned that an illegal immigrant can be 18 years old, enroll in the public schools, undergo no background check, and because they have no verifiable high-school credits, automatically be enrolled as a freshman, putting them in the same classes as 14 and 15-year-olds. Under the law, the school cannot ask about the student’s immigration status; the school system chooses not to perform background checks on incoming students. --Jim Geraghty, Morning Jolt.)

Gun safety best ever, accidental deaths at new low, 0.3% of all in 2015
Excerpt: Despite gun sales reaching record numbers in the last two years, accidental gun shootings are at an all-time low, a surprising finding by the National Safety Council. In its annual "Injury Facts" report, the group put accidental gun deaths in 2015 at 489. That is the lowest since 1903, when record-keeping began and a 17 percent one-year drop. (Apparently more people die from falling down stairs or other household accidents than from mistakes made with loaded guns. Nice to know, and it of course will never be mentioned in any major media since it goes against the grain of the anti-gun arguments. Del)

Reflections on the revolution in Middlebury
Excerpt: A few months ago, AEI’s student group at Middlebury College invited me to speak on the themes in Coming Apart and how they relate to the recent presidential election. Professor Allison Stanger of the Political Science Department agreed to serve as moderator of the Q&A and to ask the first three questions herself. About a week before the event, plans for protests began to emerge, encouraged by several faculty members. Their logic was that since I am a racist, a white supremacist, a white nationalist, a pseudoscientist whose work has been discredited, a sexist, a eugenicist, and (this is a new one) anti-gay, I did not deserve a platform for my hate speech, and hence it was appropriate to keep me from speaking. (Below is the account of a distinguished author of how utter and total thuggery took over a campus, prevented him from speaking to the audience, mounted a prolonged assault that injured one of the professors accompanying him, and even continued to where some of the mob left the campus to follow him and his companions into town where they were having dinner. At one point several of the assailants in the mob showed up wearing ski masks, which should have immediately brought out a major response in security officers and police, but that didn't happen. Now the question remains as to what, if anything, the college will do to find and seriously discipline those students involved in this violence. If they don't do anything meaningful, it will, as the writer below says, be a fatal blow to civilized discourse on campuses and represent a great victory for thugs and those who encourage them. --Del)

Portland offers free “tiny home” to residents… if they let homeless people live in them
Excerpt: Out in the Northwest there’s been a movement for some time known as Keep Portland Weird. It’s an attitude which seems to infect not only the highly liberal population, but their elected officials as well. That appears to be on display yet again as the city seeks new ways to combat its skyrocketing problem of homelessness. With thousands of indigent residents sleeping each night either on the streets or in makeshift, crime infested tent cities, a new solution is clearly needed. I suppose that’s what led to the current proposal which is being rolled out this summer. The city will pay for “tiny houses” which residents can put in their backyards, provided they allow the homeless to live in them for the next five years. (Daily Mail)

The outrage over the fact that Trump is planning to “end Meals on Wheels,” thus directly causing the death and starvation of our nation’s senior citizens. Social media exploded, and is still exploding, with millions of tweets and lengthy Facebook diatribes castigating Trump and the evil Republicans for de-funding the program. Dozens of articles were written with headlines like “Trump Just Announced Plan to End ‘Meals on Wheels’ for Seniors,” which, if you didn’t know any better, would make you think Trump just announced a plan to end Meals on Wheels for seniors.
The only problem with all of this is that it’s total nonsense. Trump did not end Meals on Wheels. He didn’t do anything close to ending Meals on Wheels. His budget doesn’t mention Meals on Wheels. Instead, his budget cuts a program called the Community Development Block Grant. This program, which is often abused, partially funds Meals on Wheels. But the funds it gets from the CDBG are small in comparison to the funds it gets from sources like the Older Americans Act, which remains unscathed by Trump’s budget. Meals on Wheels also subsists largely on private donations. So, it’s not close to accurate to say that Meals on Wheels is “ended.” It’s not even accurate to say that government funding of Meals on Wheels is ended. Rather, one single source of government funding to the program is ended, while may other sources, including private ones, will continue.......Matt Walsh

McMaster Tried to Bring in CIA Official Who Lied About Benghazi "Protest" By Daniel Greenfield
Excerpt: The house needs to be cleaned. Instead McMaster and Mattis have put themselves in charge of bringing in some of Obama's worst people. Mattis' attempt to move in Anne Patterson, the Muslim Brotherhood's greatest American ally in Egypt, is so mindboggling in its inappropriateness that you have to conclude that someone else is calling the shots on that network. (I would have thought the very last people Trump would want within ten miles of his working team would be any of the Obama people who were clearly involved in some of the slimy/stupid actions of that Administration. Yet some of them were proposed, and others have actually made it to positions of power. This really makes me wonder about how smart and careful the process of staffing up is. --Del)

INTERESTING - Trump the Weakling: Our president has already backed down quite a bit. By Steve Chapman
Excerpt: When rocker Tom Petty found out Republican George W. Bush was blaring his song "I Won't Back Down" at campaign rallies in 2000, he sent a cease-and-desist letter. Maybe the reason Donald Trump avoided the song in his campaign is that he didn't want similar trouble. Or maybe it's because he will, in fact, back down. After a federal court blocked his February travel ban, Trump tweeted, "See you in court, the security of our nation is at stake!" From that bold declaration, you would expect him to fight all the way to the Supreme Court. But he didn't. On Monday, he caved in and issued a new travel ban designed to appease the judiciary. Backing down is not a departure from his usual style. It is his usual style. Trump is not a guy who can be counted on to stand his ground. Often, he crumbles under the slightest pressure. Ask the Chinese. Shortly after he was elected, he took a call from the president of Taiwan, in defiance of the long-standing U.S. policy of recognizing only one China. Then, when the Beijing government took offense, he snapped back on Twitter, asking, "Did China ask us if it was OK to devalue their currency?" Conservatives applauded his manly bravado. Former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton said Trump was alerting the Chinese that "nobody in Beijing gets to dictate who we talk to." Actually, somebody in Beijing does. His name is Xi Jinping. He's the president of China, and he refused to speak with Trump on the phone until he agreed to eat his words. As China's government media reported, Trump tamely assured Xi that "the U.S. government adheres to the One China policy."

The firm, described as a ‘political fixer,’ assisted Baldwin during her troubles involving the Tomah VA Medical Center scandal.
