Random Thoughts for March

Random Thoughts for March, 2017. By Robert A. Hall
Feel free to post or forward.

Partisans of both sides repeat the talking points of their side and dismiss the other side's points as lies. Take "voter fraud" or "global warming." 99.9% of the people expressing an opinion have not collected or analyzed the evidence themselves, they just accept and repeat the selective evidence of "experts" on their side. And it's increasingly impossible for people to get unbiased evidence, since everything has been politicized.

Looking at my genealogy, many of my ancestors were plank holders in the American Dream. But if they saw the condition of the Ship of State today, they would despair. Too many passengers disapprove of the destination, are unwilling to join the crew, won't work to keep the ship afloat, and are hoping it goes on the rocks. They have no idea that means an end to not only the luxuries but to the basic necessities that support life.

My DNA Results: Robert A. Hall, you are...
75.1% - British (Scottish, Welsh & English) and Irish
16.1% - Scandinavian
I have found no Scandinavian ancestors except Rollo the Viking, 34 generations back, the great grandfather of William the Conqueror. But of course a lot of Danes and Norse intermarried (or took by force) the local women of Scotland, England and Ireland during the many Viking invasions, settled in these lands and were absorbed into the local populations.
5.5% - Middle Eastern
I have found no ancestors from the Middle East so far....
3.3% - Ashkenazi Jewish
The only person I have found in my family tree from Germany is my Great Grandfather, Cuno Becker on my mother's side. If he had a Jewish ancestry, I don't think his son, Cuno Vernal Becker or the rest of the family knew it.

If terrorists use women and children as shields, their deaths are on the terrorists. If we hold fire because they are hiding behind civilians, they will always hide behind civilians. And our troops will get killed.

How to tell if you are really old: Family and friends start saying, "Joe is XX years young!"

The Shariaphile liberals embrace the execution of gays and apostates, the mutilation of girls' genitals, child marriage, oppression of women, and the stoning of rape victims for "adultery," all in the worship of Multiculturalism.

Suppose Obama had been a King instead of a President. Imagine the kind of people he would have knighted. And imagine who would have been beheaded. All in the name of "social justice" and other progressive chimeras.

Multiculturalism promotes group identity, thus inter-group conflict, thus violence. It is cultural apartheid. If all lives don't matter, none do.

"Bring us together" is an empty a slogan. After decades of progressive promotion of multiculturalism, diversity, racial discrimination to benefit favored groups, and dividing people into us versus them racial and ethnic groups who they taught that the economy and government are zero-sum games in to mobilize power, they are stunned to find their opponents playing by the same rules. The rise of the alt-right racists is a reaction provoked by the progressive racists. This will not end well. For anyone.

Some days it takes all the will power I have just to get out of bed.

When the "reconquista" is complete, it will be fun to see how the rich Hollywood elites like living under Mexican laws, Mexican taxes and the Mexican government. Alas, it will be after my death so I'll miss the fun, but the rest of the country will have to decide to let them in or make them stay in their new homeland. Which won't be very "multicultural."

I'm glad I went to High School when they still taught civics, economics and American History, and to college when History of Western Civilization was required. Generation X should be called Generation "Duh." They have sown the wind with the seeds of the dissolution of the culture and society that has made America a magnet for immigrants and the envy of the world. They will reap the whirlwind in chaos, collapse and violence.

Being abusive to people you disagree with politically is a bad way to make them see the light.

Progressives have made an art of subverting democracy. What the people want or even what the legislative body decides has meant little for decades. Supporters of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, like Hubert Humphrey, wrote in provisions that banned quotes and hiring according to race. The courts and bureaucrats decided that the act required these racial discriminations.

If companies can't move jobs to Mexico, won't Mexicans come here for the jobs?

I expect that in ten years, California will offer absentee voting to people in Mexico. After all, it's discriminatory (maybe racist) to expect them to sneak across the boarder illegally to vote in California.

We should uphold the one-China policy with all the vigor China displays in upholding copyright laws.

Why should immigrants become citizens? They're loyalty is to Mexico, another Hispanic country or the Muslim country they came from. In many places they can vote and get welfare benefits from the government. And they don't have to have a knowledge of English or pass the test on civics and American history required for citizenship.

See you in court? If we had "loser pays," most frivolous lawsuits would never get filed. But there are too many lawyers in congress and the state legislatures.

I've noted before, but it is worth repeating. Progressivism means coercion. People must be forced to do things the elites believe are best, even if the people don't want to because they don't believe it is in their best interests. Examples: pay for abortion and birth control coverage in their insurance policies. Buy insurance. Give up their means of self-defense. Accept and pay taxes to support immigrants. And so on. The list grows as liberal government grows and progressives discover new rights they must force you to pay for and recognize.

There is an upside to the anti-Trump riots and protests, the endless obstructionism by Democrats, the opposition of liberal judges, the media spin that demonizes every Trump action, even if Obama or Clinton took similar actions. All these left-wing efforts lock Trump into supporting conservative measures, whatever his personal bombast, and make it far less likely he will revert to his New Your Liberal positions supporting abortion, gun control, immigrants, the Clintons and so on.

Focus is important for a successful life. I miss mine.

Saw a sign at an antiques show: "People are not grateful because they are happy. They are happy because they are grateful."

With some people, they best you can say for them is that they always treated themselves well.

Hi-Vee is looking for a part time Donut Finisher. Too bad I'm diabetic; I've finished a lot of donuts in my time.

Socialists don't build walls to keep people out. They build walls to keep people in. Hat Tip: Todd Radke.

If group "A" thinks of group "B" as their enemy and displays constant hostility, inevitable group "B" will return the animosity. Black Americans have been taught for so long that "whitey" is the enemy and displaying hostility ("Get whitey," "Black lives matter, saying all lives matter is racist," "What do we want? Dead Cops!") is acceptably, even admirable behavior by black "leaders" like Jackson, Sharpton and Obama, that inevitably they have made racism, which was dying, flourish in whites and other races.

If a politician tells you he (or she) is anti-big business, but pro-jobs, ask him if there are no jobs in big businesses.

Your fault? Your fix.

There are certain things in life that make absolutely no sense, but you must do to keep peace, with your spouse, boss, etc.

In politics (I know from experience), someone is always out to get you. But if you are stupid you hand them a club to use.

There are few things as boring as an awards ceremony, unless you are an awardee. Then your few minutes in the spotlight are interesting. To you.

If a senator--of either party--wishes to vote against a presidential nominee--of any president--for political or partisan reasons, a "conscience" reason can always be found to convince the public the senator is a person of principle.

When a group gets a government grant, they act like it's "found money. And it is--found in the taxpayers' wallets.

I wouldn't be surprised if a left wing group--TLM--were formed to help and protect "Chelsea" Manning. "Traitor's Lives Matter." Jane Fonda and John Kerry co-chairs.

You will know we have achieved racial equality when the terms "redneck" and "cracker" are considered as offensive as "spic" and "nigger."

Everybody wants what somebody else has. Our dog often turns his nose up at his dog food, but leave any cat food unguarded and it vanishes.

When people don't know what they are talking about, it doesn't seem to keep them from talking.

Everybody's squirrelly in their own way.

Because someone called it "art" doesn't make it good.

American Advertising: Promoting anorexia for over 25 years!

There was a rumor that the Democrats were going to rename the party Big Brother, but desisted when the Hillary wing claimed it was sexist.

  1. You said: "Being abusive to people you disagree with politically is a bad way to make them see the light."

Tell that to ISIS. If you think that being kind to Leftists who are always hateful and condescending, is going to "make them see the light," you are engaging in the most wishful thinking ever thought. Like their friends, the Islamofascists, Leftists will never see the light.

  2. Progressives have made an art of subverting democracy. What the people want or even what the legislative body decides has meant little for decades. Supporters of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, like Hubert Humphrey, wrote in provisions that banned quotes (SIC) (YOU MEAN QUOTAS) and hiring according to race. The courts and bureaucrats decided that the act required these racial discriminations.

Progressives would consider this to be "abusive":

The Shariaphile liberals embrace the execution of gays and apostates, the mutilation of girls' genitals, child marriage, oppression of women, and the stoning of rape victims for "adultery," all in the worship of Multiculturalism.
